RIL is working?

I have gsm voice and text I don't have a data plan so I can't test any data. The picture from my sim menu is themed with layers, I took all the other screen shots before themeing. It works about the same as CAF for me.

I don't want to be a jerk but did you ask @Shreps if you could post this? If he hasn't posted it yet maybe it's because he didn't want to make it public just yet?
Again, it's just a friendly question, not trying to bash or anything.

I wonder if flashing the modem from the us cellular version would allow an unlock for the xt1526 sprint version? Just a thought. I might try it, seeing as how both devices are the same hardware, I think.

I think I actually may have found something posted for another device by samwhatthegreat concerning nv. According to this link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x/general/guide-success-sim-unlock-sprint-xt1056-t2825155
You could potentially remove the sim lock. The only problem is the particular values that are mentioned in the above link are read only. If there was a way to change that, sprint users would be in luck for an unlock. I'm not entirely sure its possible, but in the chance that it is, maybe it could work.

There are numerous threads by Shreps already in the Original Android Dev Forum for this device, so this is largely irrlevant.

What are the bands used for GSM by your carrier?
The phone is factory SIM unlocked, meaning that it will accept any SIM, but if the bands for your carrier are the same as US GSM, you need to use the method here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2166542 to open up those bands...
Also, if you haven't already, you'll want to edit your build.prop for GSM use. I'm probably gonna write up a guide on how to do it here eventually so I have an easy link to point to.
Also, FWIW, you won't really get an improvement on stock if you're having connection problems. If anything, stock will lock you down more because Verizon is annoying...

wait... what do you mean by dialpad?
Do you mean the dialpad that you can access in-call? Like to "press 1 to continue"?
There should be a button on the bottom-right to access that... just tap it and it will appear

haha yeah i know that, the thing is i can tap them all and nothing will happen, for example: press 1 to access your account ... then i press 1, and nothing... i can actually spam numbers and nothing, its like pressing nothing at all even when i cant literally have my screen full of numbers actually dialed.

Sim unlock for all moto x first gens

OP please close this thread
Hello guys as you guys may have heard from other sources the moto X first gen is sim locked by the firmware I can unlock them as long as I can get a nv dump from the phones an a nv dump from a unlocked version (example dev edition or one that has be on taken in store an unlocked) if I can get the nv dumps I can compare them an provide a easy unlock I have the US cellular version on 4.4.2
If you post a nv dump post it like this
@(mytag) (carrier) (android version) attachment
I'll post a tool to use an instructions on how to dump it
My Moto X was never SIM locked. Where are you getting your information?
@afox27 Your thread title might be a little misleading since...
The Verizon XT1060, and the GSM XT1053 are Sim unlocked out of the box.
The ATT and Rogers XT1058 are SIM unlockable by getting the code from the carrier (might have to meet their criteria), or by purchasing from one of many online retailers that sell SIM unlock codes.
I believe the XT1052 in Asia and Europe is also SIM unlocked out of the box.
The Sprint XT1056 and Republic Wireless XT1049 can be sim unlocked via the steps/process posted in -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x/general/guide-success-sim-unlock-sprint-xt1056-t2825155
As for the US Cellular XT1055, and the Regional XT1050, well, those I am not sure about. So if you have a way that works for them which is different, cool! Please expand on what is needed!!

Yes. Ik it works with T-Mobile. Awhile back some ones gf had a xt1055 on T-Mobile. Verizon should work. To. But. Funny thing is you don't need a sim card for Verizon. I'm. Ok, so unlocked the bootloader, flashed the 4.4.3 Tmobile image, and rooted the phone. I didn't have a nano sim to test with, but it could see AT&T's network. I'm hoping that means that it'll work on GSM networks overseas, since my brother is going to the UK. Thanks so much!

For over seas you have to enable the bands for your area. Search for. "Unlock all your bands" on XDA.

Lots of people have had success unlocking their on contract and NEXT devices by using the online portal. I was able to get 2 on contract iPhones unlocked by submitting a request. The first went through no issues, the second took about 40 tries and I had to do it as a GoPhone even though it wasn't. Human error I am sure but idc I got the devices unlocked.
https://www.att.com/deviceunlock/#/
I think for the on contract phones that are w/in like 60 or 90 days of the onset of their contract, they get automatic denials. But everyone else is reviewed by a human and if you submit enough requests, you eventually get an unlock.

I just read about this. According to this review: http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2500353,00.asp
"It (Verizon Wireless Samsung Galaxy S7) has LTE bands 2/3/4/5/7/8/13/18/19/20/38/39/40/41. Samsung unfortunately removed key LTE bands for the other major US carriers—12 for T-Mobile, 17 for AT&T, and 25 for Sprint—to make it difficult to use this model elsewhere."
I doubt it was Samsung that removed it - more likely, Verizon had them remove the others. Just a guess, tho.
Is there an ELI5 version of this thread? What is the importance of knowing which "bands" are supported?

Using the phone LTE in other carriers. Carriers 'own' certain frequency bands which are used to communicate with your phone. Your phone and the tower need to be able to use the same frequency band in order to communicate.
Most phones work on 2G/3G world wide (except on CDMA carriers like Verizon, generally most phones don't use the tech/frequencies for verzion nor would Verizon allow then on their 2G/3G bands of they did). But LTE is new enough that most phones don't support the 20 odd frequency ranges used (2G/3G use less then 10 combined for most of the world).

The modem supports all the bands, Verizon disables it in software. What a bummer! I will suggest you to buy G950U or US cellular model.
Or flash the firmware of the carrier you want to enable the modem which has been successfully posted on a few xda threads and other sites. All snapdragon us variants can be cross flashed.

So are you saying that the actual bands are software based not hardware based. So all we have todo is flash the right ENG and ROM and wala I have right radios for my carrier?? US Based.
Yes, flashing the fw of the carrier loads the correct radio drivers. The radios are hardware based, but locked down by what the firmware has the instructions to look for and run.

Great explanation, I’m new to this stuff - we all have to start somewhere right?
So is root required to flash? The reason I ask is that I’d like to buy an S7 but I want to be able to WiFi hotspot tether without carrier provisioning and some versions of the phone allow it while I’m pretty sure others block that (like att)...By the way do you know which version would be best to flash to for WiFi tethering and ALL LTE bands made available? Thanks!

I use the hybrid rom that is loaded with vzw and debloated custom to my needs. It has tethering enabled. You'll just need to use root long enough to get the flashfire setup going and then once you're done it is unrooted. You'll have to check other threads regarding performance tweaks if you decide to stay rooted.

Using the engineering kernel for nougat you can achieve toy, but it's buggy and slow since it wasn't meant to be used for daily devices. That's why the hybrid ton was developed to show some root uses without needing to keep root, like removing bloat permanently or getting the tethering service setup.

[Guide] GSM unlock for Sprint LG G5

Unlocking the LG G5 Sprint model!
First and foremost thank @vittger over in this thread where the method was posted - HERE
Reason I am making this Guide/post is it seems like even though its been posted, theres not a thread for it and some miss the actual method of doing it.
I haven't tested or seen it tested on any OS below Android 7.0 so it may not work unless you've updated.
1. Download this APK - HERE
2.Install the APK
3 Open the App
4. Scroll down & Select IOT(CDG2)
5.Select LTE setting,Select Operation Mode, Then Select Lab Network
6. Device will reboot, Then go back to step 3,4, and 5, and the option Band25 make sure its enabled. scroll down to LTE Data roam config, and enable all the bands towards the bottom in that menu as well.
7. Go back to the Hidden menu APK main menu, ModemProtocol, RAT Selection, then choose GSM/WCDMA/LTE Auto
8. Reboot and you should be good to go!
9. You now have you Sprint LG G5 LS992 GSM unlocked for both US and international GSM carriers
To Add your APN (for data):
Go to, The hidden menu APK, IOT(CDG2), LTE Settings,
APN settings and then add your APN for your carrier
Remember you'll need to set APN type to "default" and
authentication type to "None" or else it wont work
Tested and working with AT&T 3G/HSPA,4G/LTE And T-Mobile 2G/4G/LTE working perfectly fine in the USA. Also tested with a GiffGaff UK sim roaming in the US.
This method also works with the LG V20 and LG Tribute HD so it may work on other LG devices.
Having an issue with it stop working?
Disable your screen lock. No password/swipe to unlock/fingerprints - Having a password seems to be an issue with this method.
Here's a quick YouTube video I made,

This method works entirely on stock. Been running a TracFone GSM BYOP SIM card for the past month with use of the APK above.
Is this the same as the remote unlock? Thank you

Just dial ##RTN and enter your SPC code, which will reset your device. If you need your SPC code Give Sprint your IMEI and they can provide it.
Thanks,
RTN would do a reset of all sw or just the provisioning/network/sim setup?

Will this work on a Boost LG Stylo 2? I have tried and it is not unlocked and I cannot find "scroll down to LTE Data roam config, and enable all the bands towards the bottom in that menu as well. " this part in the app.
FYI it has Android 7.0 on it.
Thanks

Its not supposed too so I wouldn't think in would. But it probably doesn't hurt to try at least. But it's doubtful.

This has never happened to me. Only way I can see it happening is unless your phone had an update, or something Sprint wise is doing something. Did you do a FULL reset before doing so? As in ##RTN#? Where it wipes all the Sprint carrier config etc?

Qualcomm - Boost XT1766 - Could someone make a TWRP-flashable Stock?

I've been having trouble activating my device with Boost since flashing custom ROMs. I'd like to temporarily flash the Stock image, then return to a custom ROM. Specifically the stock image here - firmware.center/ firmware/Motorola/ Moto%20E4/Stock/XT1766/ . I found one already that was recently made in another thread, but TWRP refuses saying my device is perry not sperry. Which is fine, as I think it's for the Sprint-specific variant anyway. So if we can avoid that error somehow, awesome (as I see the ROM name has "sperry" in the title). But yes, I'm certain my phone and that model are the same.
Before anyone says "Why didn't you-", I tried RSDLite and it doesn't recognize the device no matter the USB slot or cable. I tried fastboot, but I get "Not enough space" errors on the phone and FAIL's in the prompt. So I've come to the conclusion that the easiest way would be a TWRP ROM. And yeah, I feel dumb already for forgetting to activate the SIM before flashing.
Anyway, I hate being long-winded. I just want to verify that I've done everything I can on my end before anyone makes it.
Thanks in advance!
Hi
You Can Flash XT1766_SPERRY_SPRINT_7.1.1_NCQ26.69-56_cid50_subsidy-DEFAULT_regulatory-DEFAULT_CFC.xml.zip
with the utility that was made by rootjunky you can convert the servicefile.xml to a batch service.bat file , you need this RSD_Lite_Motorola_XML_To_Batch_Script.zip
but you have to know that you will loose the ability to add new apn and htospot wont work anymore with this upgrade , and its the only one for the phone around . look to my thread here in the same section GUIDES where is posted this thread look for "How To Get Working Apn + Hotspot After Upgrade to NCQ26.69-56 With SPerry XT1766".
extract the firmware ZIP file , in the same dir put adb fastboot plataform-tools lite and the RDS_lite Xml To Batch script , convert the servicefile.xml and run servicefile.bat with the phone on fastboot bootloader mode connected to computer with windows 10 and run servicefile.bat wait to flash and that is.
Keep it simple...
Just flash stock firmware with RSDLite or fastboot.
https://firmware.center/firmware/
Oops... Just finished reading the full OP.
Try flashing the US Retail version and see what happens.
Side Note: If you flashed a custom ROM before activating the device, it will cause issues. I did the same with a 2013 Moto G and I could never activate it with Boost, the signal read 'Chameleon', could never get it fixed. I had to buy a new phone.
I just did a thread yesterday with ROMs for all the E4 Plus models, including a TWRP flashable OTA for Boost. I'm working on the E4 now. I'll post the Boost ones first shortly.

Can someone make trwp flashable zip link is dead
I'm compiling a TWRP flashable stock Android 7.1.1 ROM for the Virgin Mobile xt1766 variant (Build No. NCQ26.69-56). It should also work on the Boost & Sprint variants. It will be pure stock with the exception of dm-verity and forced encryption, both of which will be disabled.

Right on dude. Virgin Mobile here
From all my past experiences with the Moto E series of smartphones, the past few years at least, the Sprint, Boost Mobile & Virgin Mobile variants all use the same stock Android build. The carrier specific apps, unique to each provider, are typically downloaded at the time of activation. This was especially true with the Moto E LTE Surnia and the Moto G3 Osprey. If there are any significant differences with the xt1766, someone please let me know. For now I'm assuming the same stock Android 7.1.1 ROM will work for Sprint, Virgin & Boost.

Your only chance (a very slight chance) would be to go here: https://www.xda-developers.com/contact/ and contact the web master. If your account was deleted, they might not be able to help you. If it was temporarily closed, you might get lucky. It's pretty much up to Mike Channon I believe, he's the man in charge.
Edit: and don't forget to hit the thanks button when someone helps you.

No you didn't didn't step on my toes. I'm very glad you made some stock ROMs available for the xt1766. That has me started on another project, which is using the telephony configurations from the stock firmware to create an Aroma installer which will fix 4G/LTE data connectivity on the xt1766 on LineageOS & other custom ROMs. Data connectivity appears to be a huge problem on the Sprint, Boost & Virgin Mobile variants when running custom ROMs. Thank you for your work & contributions.

Hello old friend. Good to see you here too. The Perry has been my latest interest. Yes, I'll definitely be in touch. I could use a little of your feedback on LTE data connectivity on the xt1766 Sprint compatible Perry.
