Recieved a replacement Moto X pure today and it appears to be in some kind of debug/testing mode... any idea how to get it back into a usable place?
Has anyone heard of this or seen this? It appears to be a complete phone testing software (firmware maybe?)
I recieved a Warranty Replacement for my Moto X Pure and it came loaded with this firmware.
I tried a factory reset and it came right back up, so it appears to be more of a firmware than software.
Also, the bootloader is locked and I can't figure out how to get back to a usable mode. I waited over 2 months on the advanced replacement and now I can't use it. Regardless... any ideas on this PTEG Factory stuff?

Although this won't mean much to you maybe unlock bootloader and put custom rom or flash the restore to stock?
Also it looks cool! Lol

I can go that route, but would hate to void the warranty to make a warranty replacement work... Ya know? I was hoping to find a way to flash a working build without unlocking bootloader.

I think flashing stock does not require unlocking bootloader
Would be nice if they left a factory image on there somewhere. Of course resetting the phone may have wiped it.

You just have to go to bootloader and run the bat file.. No need to unlock BL for that it's in fastboot mode then

Looks like it detects both SIM card slots, try inserting 2 SIMs and see what happens. If it works you have a dual SIM US Moto X Pure.

I know how to use fastboot, but from what I understand, the bootloader must be unlocked to flash anything in fastboot... Anyone else care to chime in?

Did a search. Didnt find anything of use.
After waiting for 3 months for a replacement Moto X Pure, I get this dud tonight. Its f'ing useless.
I dont know what to do with it. I dont want to start the process over with Moto because Im tired of using a dumb phone. I dont want to wait months and deal with their horrid support for said time again either. I am seriously at a loss.
Thoughts?

OP, you have three choices:
- Send it back to Moto and endure their slow, idiotic wait times.
- Unlock the bootloader, flash a stock firmware, and lose warranty.
- Risk it and try flashing a stock firmware on a locked bootloader, send it back if it doesn't work, and enjoy the wait time.

My experience with customer service has been very nice. I sent mine on December 2nd and I just waiting to receive that one back on the 24th. They can't fix the problem then they just replaced mine. They sent me a code to build my own, and then took only 3 days after i builded to show in process of delivery. I'm very happy with their customer service.

Thanks, thats helpful. I tried getting the 6.0 package from here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x-style/general/android-6-0-update-rolling-t3261427) and it will not flash on a locked bootloader. Fails at verifying step.
Is there a stock 5.1.1 image floating around somewhere thats signed so that it can be flashed on a stock BL?
So, Ive managed to try downloading a couple of ROMs with no success. And I cant connect to ADB. Suggestions?

Don't use adb - use fastboot. You might need to unlock the bootloader.
Have you tried RSD lite with the stock lollipop return to stock file?
Manually boot into the bootloader. Then
Code:
fastboot devices
Hopefully it returns a number.
Maybe this will help to pull the rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2695356

It could work in theory, the problem is the amount of time it would take for it to stumble upon a correctly working code.
I could not get it to work. It kept returning with " 'fastboot' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file. Missing operand." over and over.
You need the fastboot executable in the same directory, but seriously, don't waste your time on this. At 4 codes per second it would take millions of years to crack.
Seems like I'm the lucky one, unlocked my Moto X using this script.

I have tried to unlock it as suggested by oneplus and it will not do anything.
I go into fastboot mode after installing the drivers on my PC confirmed I can see my device and when I executed unlock it did wipe my phone but didn't unlock the bootloader.
Anyone knows why it doesn't work or what I'm doing wrong?
BTW I have updated to marshmallow manually. This phone was never unlocked or rooted.

I also downloaded a fresh one.. Not sure if that did anything but.. If you try and fastboot boot the recovery and get a btb error( I was) I was told that the boot IMG was messed up to get that error? Don't know.
Wow after 2 hours of softbrick I got it to work, did my nand backup and now going to look for a good cm13 rom.
I had to get a certain twrp recovery I found on YouTube and not the latest version from their website.

well, if youre able to boot to download mode, then you might just need TWRP and a custom ROM. sammobile.com/firmwares (specifically https://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/database/SM-G900F/ for your phone) is THE reputable place for tar.md5's, but is known for its slow speed and if your computer goes into hibernate at all, the downloads will fail. But, you might be able to get away with flashing TWRP, putting your choice of ROM on to your sd card and installing it from there.

androidfilehost is always a good alternative, but finding one can be daunting. The G900F is a very popular phone, so it shouldnt be that tough to find actually
here is a german 6.0.1 tar.md5. Should have whatever other language youd need in it as well

Ok So I tried using that rom with Odin. But it seems to have failed. And it tells me to use "kies" recovery.
I even searched that And found the software, but it wouldn't run on Windows.
So just what am I doing wrong here?
I downloaded Odin installed it, ran it under ap I chose the German Rom listed above. After a while it appears next to ap so I start the process off and eventually it says FAIL on Odin and my mobile says I need to go into recovery with kies.
Uhm this is starting to annoy me now [emoji15]

I'm seeing know where that says no and the guidon XDA mentions the G950U with correct build number and says nothing specifically about x phone can't do it.
Can it? I see nothing around here about it.
Well I took the plunge and let mine update to U5CRL1then just used the update path on Firmware science to DRL7 now have One Ui. But letting you know once you update past U2 or S2 bootloader there is no going back and no root.

That's my about phone.

Last six characters starting with U or S then a number. The number tells you what bootloader version you have.

Firmware science?
Sent from my PH-1 using Tapatalk
https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.xd...alaxy-s8-install-one-ui-android-pie-beta/amp/
I was going to follow this guide
Sent from my PH-1 using Tapatalk
Yeah that was pulled from firmware science. Your already on the build you need to be on. Go to firmware science install the DRL7 zip move to sd card and flash from stock recovery
Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk
Right here
Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk
Heres the zip
https://firmware.science/download?url=48927/1488/SS-G950USQS5CRL1-to-U5DRL7-UP
Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk
So just put the update on root of internal storage and apply from SD?
Sent from my PH-1 using Tapatalk
Download the zip.
Once downloaded, move it to sd card.
Move anything you want to save from internal storage as this will wipe your phone.
Once you have zip moved to sd card and anything you want saved, power off phone.
Boot to stock recovery (power/bixby/volume up
Scroll down to update from sd card.
Select it then locate the zip, once located click it phone will install the update. It will take awhile. If it boots back to recovery just do a system wipe and all will be fine.

Move it to your external sd card
Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk
I don't have one in the phone. Just the internal
Sent from my PH-1 using Tapatalk
You can use adb
Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk
---------- Post added at 06:46 AM ---------- Previous post was at 06:41 AM ----------
If you don't know how to use adb read up on it. I have not used it for this method but I use it for other things, you don't have an sd card you can throw in device just to load the zip?
