Marshmallow here for xt1095 - X 2014 General

I just got a notification for the update an hour ago. Installed it and seems to be fine

Are you on the soak test?

I just got it, downloading...

[Checks updates]... "crap, no update!" [repeat x100]

I signed up for the soak test. Maybe that's why. but I figured I would get an email telling me it is officially starting and I didn't get anything like that

Where is the file I should capture so I can sideload this OTA again?
(I have two Moto X 2014 (2nd gen) and one is downloading the upgrade right now. I'd like to save the file(s) in case my second phone is delayed in getting the upgrade.)
Thanks

The Droid-Life article seems to discuss how to capture the URL of the server for the OTA file. I'm more interested in finding the file on my devices internal disk space after the download is complete.
I see in the logcat that the download completes and the OTA file is valid.

I'm just not sure where the file is located on my phone disk space. Ideas?

It's in the cache folder.

Has anyone been able to grab the url for the ota upgrade? Or is there a uploaded zip somewhere? Thanks for sharing!

Is this officiall, or a soak test?

Hopefully someone captures it. I haven't got it yet, bah humbug to Motorola's fast update promise.

Got it a few hours ago for US. Was unable to capture OTA as I do not have root.

We're you entered into the soak test, or is it the official bump up.

I was definitely not part of the soak test.

I'm installing the update now. Good looking out!
EDIT: So, App Backup works, though one thing failed and I was unable to see which app it was that didn't make it. Huge improvement of the last few times I tried to use it.
Same here
First I try app backup, and works fine
Can anyone pull the dlpkg file from the cache partition?
Finally got it
Have been waiting for weeks in NL to get the 8.6.5.18 update, it could not find the update. Finally just few minutes back got it. Downloaded now installing. Will update once it is setup.

Sorry mate. Could not help. Hopefully somebody with root is going to upgrade soon and can provide you with the package.
I have root and root explorer and although my update failed it may have saved the download in the cache folder
I open the cache folder and only can see

recovery
and in the folders there is no update file named dlpkgfile

From the contents of the update package it's looks like it's only a new fingerprint for the build and a permissions fix for the asus-backup binary.
Edit: and maybe a fix for this issue too: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1339336
Edit2: This does not have a fix for the above url, it's only fingerprints and the perm fix for asus-backup

How to update to JB using DLPKGFILE and KEEP ROOT! Works!

Right, so, through a bit of trial and error using guidance from the forums, this is how I updated to JB and kept root for WW after the update originally failed.
download BOTH files from here (massive thanks to ch3mn3y):
http://www25.zippyshare.com/v/91334594/file.html
http://www1.zippyshare.com/v/96461494/file.html
then extract the .zip file.
download the command file from here (massive thanks to krabappel2548):
http://www.mediafire.com/?yq1bt16mnm7tc8d
extract it.
place the dlpkgfile and command file, both unzipped onto your tab. Use a root explorer to paste the command file into /cache/recovery and the dlpkgfile (the actual file, not the folder) to /cache.
go to Voodoo OTA Rootkeeper and temp unroot.
turn off the tab.
boot into recovery with Vol - and power, then when it says to press volume up to boot into RCK, do it.
You'll see the android with the blue wires and it will go through the install process if you have done it right. let it do its thing.
obviously, when it has settled, restore root with Voodoo.
If you get the android with red exclamation mark, i reccomend downloading the ICS zip of your current firmware and SKU and sticking it on a micro SD card, and letting it restore any programmes you've deleted.

Now it the turn of libGLESv1_CM.so ...
Going to give it a try.
Just to make sure, is this for WW version, right?

Already got this before my update notification stopped working.
I deleted Email app, returned it back to system but seems I dont have the right version. (found in someones dropbox posted here)
Also reflashed Ww. 30 hoping this would overwrite the widget with correct version. Obviously it did not...
Would be glad for any help.
As it is MY dlpkgfile it can need MY files. I could upload /system, but first its strange to copy/paste whole android and second it is 624mb and third it will work only for rooted and at least fourth i updated my pad.
If it helps my pad was reflashed to .30 using wolfs method cos i had screen issue.

Could you please try to upload just the EmailWidget?
When I tried using OTA I got an error on Email.apk first. Then I downloaded it from dropbox and it passed. But EmailWidget did unfortunately not.
Also trying to find a tool that could extract the .30blob file. I guess the apps should be there. Found something but probably Linux only so no go for me.

I'm having the same problem, and I had to register to ask you to please share
Same hash values in the updater script.
EDIT: I have fixed it myself. I figured out how to use simg2img to unzip and mount the system.img from the factory image download, and from that I was able to grab the original file. Update successful!
Guys this is all well and good, but would it be possible to give a bit more info on how to fix the issue? Pretty please?
I don't have enough post's, so cant post a link.
Search for member AndDiSa and go to his blog, which has a link in his sig.
He has instructions to for extracting a factory image and installing with fastboot.
Has worked for me on the last two updates.
Or just Google for debuggerd, Nexus 7, android 4.3 and xda; there's a thread somewhere here where someone posted a copy. It's how I fixed mine when I upgraded.
Just download it and copy it to /system/bin. Easiest if you can do it in recovery, as Chainfire used that file for some of his software hacks for either Super SU or Stickmount and unfortunately it can get copied over again on boot or reboot.

I don't think you can yet, unless rooting enables it, since you can't read/write to /cache/. On the root of the /sdcard/ partition is a logcat.txt file (pull it via adb) that shows the initial update process. URL of the update, along with where it's stored and where the recovery expects to find it.
Code:

[PSA][Tutorial] How to Capture an OTA

You do not need to be rooted! Just have USB debugging enabled in developer options.
Please post the official URL of the OTA that you obtain from following these steps so that everyone can download it safely and securely.
Please do not rehost the OTA zipfile on some ad-laden scammy download hosting website.
Steps shamelessly stolen from http://www.droid-life.com/2014/06/05/download-nexus-ota-url-file/
As soon as you get the OTA notice:
1. When you get prompted to download an update on your phone immediately plug your phone into a computer.
2. From that computer, open a command prompt, type “adb logcat” and hit enter. (On a Mac it’s “./adb logcat”)
3. The command prompt will then begin to spit out information from your phone.
4. Feel free to then tap the “Download” button on the update from your phone.
5. Once the download starts, you will be able to find the URL of the file that is downloading in the logcat.
6. You can do a handful of things now to find it-
a) See if you can spot a URL in the command prompt that starts with “android.clients.google.com” – or -
b) Copy the logcat info, paste into a text editor and then search for that string – or -
C) You could also search for the codename for the device (Ex: Moto G 2014 is “titan”)
Once you have the full URL, post it on the forums!
Nice
Some corrections:
first links for Motorola OTA zips start from storage.googleapis.com. not android.clients like of Nexus
second if you use adb logcat only, there will be a lot of text generated which deletes the logs captured at beginning (in which our url is).
so use abd logcat>filename.txt
so that you can search whole log i.e.filename.txt in text editor
third it's not that simple "post the url in forum"
links of Motoroal OTA get expired immediately (Nexus links don't expire) so you have to download it first and again upload it somewhere.
so please at least try before you post
I know it was not possible to test for you.
Hope you will update OP with corrections.

Yes you can use it at that time
Great initiative.
A tutorial like that should have been fixed on these forums right from the beggining.
The OTA soak test for xt1069 was lost forever, for instance, because nobody who received the notification knew about this.
On the off-chance that you're using a linux based OS or Mac OS and want to make life even easier, use grep to filter the output and then print to file:
Code:
adb logcat | grep 'storage.googleapis.com' > ota.txt
Just used this method to grab the OTA for 5.0.1 without root! My recommendation is to do this:
adb logcat > log.txt
Search log.txt for handleDownloadServiceRequest:downloadUrl
Copy / Paste URL into browser
Search log.txt for "fileName":"\/cache\/
Rename file downloaded from URL to file name listed in the logcat
Upload to XDA for others to enjoy

BTW, this latest update came from https://dlmgr.gtm.svcmot.com as the root domain. The link did expire as soon as my device finished the update and checked in.
