[Q] Some Q about Moto X Force Housing - Droid Turbo 2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys,
Received my MXF 4 days ago, and the first shock I got was when I saw a slightly hole on the top of the Camera on the balystic back.
Immediatly I started to research if other on the internet would have the same, and yes I assume it's a sensor!?
then, I saw a review on youtube and I saw all 3 Sensors blinking RED light(two on bottom and one on Top between Top Speaker and Front flash). Is it normal that mine don't blink but still work properly?
regards
Note: hope it will be a X Force Forum and soon some custom roms :highfive::silly:

I think is microphone for video recording and noise cancellation during phone call.

This is one of the noise-cancelling microphones. There should be another one further down on the back IIRC.

These are the infra-red LEDs used for Moto Display proximity sensors. They actually ARE blinking away even when you're looking at them, but you can't see infra-red. They show up on the YouTube video because phones and video cameras can pick up infra-red and "round it down" to regular red. The same thing should happen if you point a TV remote control at your phone camera and press any button while looking at the phone's display (it depends on what wavelength the remote uses and whether your device has an IR filter on the camera or not). Example of the kind of thing I mean here: http://www.instructables.com/id/See-Infrared-LED-Light-with-an-iPhone-4/

nah, don't apologise, the IR LED in cameras thing is something that you don't know about until you read it somewhere. I still remember being wowed when I first saw/read it!

where is the LED notification ?

hi everyone,
I was wondering where is the LED notification that shows the alerts ?
its just like old ones or it has some innovation-things like diamond/pro ?
it would be nice if they could do some dance light through those 4 keys under the screen ...
Thats my question, but nobody could answer me.. There should be a light in the powerbutton, but I've never seen a proof of that and on the pics it doesn't seem to me as a "light-button"... I'm still sad about this greez, cad^^

it's not at the power button, it's at the front near the top (ie. where the ear piece is). it's under the screen/plastic, amber, green, blue and red. hope that helps.
UPDATE: i made a mistake see posts below.
Oh really? That would be really great!! I don't need a discolight like on the x1 (although I find it cool), but only a practical light that informs me without looking on the screen. If this would be true, also on the front of the phone, then its absolutely perfect!! I'm happy now, thank you greez, cad^^

oops, my bad. sorry i was talking about the russian version (the one with WiMax Touch 8900 or something?). as for blackstone, it is above the power button AND at the corners (above as in if you lay the phone on it's back on the table). the color is still the same, ie. blue for BT, green for signal and wifi, , etc etc
sorry about the mix up again
oh and you probably want proof or something, here it is,

I´m mad about the position of the Notification LED´s. Why are they at the top? When i´m looking at my device i see the front not the top.....

well not really, although htc are quite stupid sometimes, on the top is ideal when you consider it's multimedia/video watching device. you dont want a flashing led annoying every 3 seconds by flashing in your eyeline!
Excactly!
And no flashing LED's when driving in the dark with the PDA in your carholder...
The flashing LED´s havent bother me anyway. I dont think that the HD would be a cinematic-Machine or something else. Its not only the Position of the LED´s its also the weakness of the LED´s that makes me angry. Until now with a quick look i knew if there is any notification.
but it's never a 'qwik' look though, 9/10 times you always miss it 1st time and have to wait lol!

If it makes you feel any better, the Samsung Omnia has exact same position of the notification led (on the top power button) and maybe even less distinguishable. So I'm guessing there's must be some reason that they put it there. Don't rush to blame HTC

Isn't the LED you are talking about, which is at the top. just at the WIMAX version? If i remember correctly, the HD has got the LED beside the speaker

Does the front camera look a little weird to yall like its kinda not aligned right inside the phone
yeah, i was going to say the same thing.
anyone know of a way to take a test pic with the front cam?
thanks
I downloaded fring and tested out video calling, works great on mine. Though I was having a separate problem with fring where it would vibrate/make this horrible noise like it was trying to ring but sounded like my Evo was dying from the inside out. Too scared start fring again.

My evo is from goggle I\O and the camera is in the center of the camera hole. I cant find any manufacturing issues on my evo.

Yeah. You go into camera mode and there's a pulldown you can access (it's always on the side of the phone with the sprint logo). From within there you'll find a settings tab (along with a bunch of others) and it will let you switch camera source.
You can also turn off the annoying shutter sound from within there too.

[Q] front facing camera or led light

Have any of you guys noticed on the front of the Venue pro in the top right there are two circles? You need to put the phone at the right angle but they are definitely there. Could these possibly be for something more than just sitting there? I'm saying this because I just got the phone the other day and I was stupid and didn't try the SIM out until I was home and now I have to wait a few days to go back because there is so much snow at my house so I've just been messing with it. I typed this all on the onscreen keyboard so I'm just becoming more and more convinced that I don't need a physical keyboard with wp7 lol. The hd7 has the storage space I want but the Dell has the screen I want! What is man to do...
Yea. Its a 3d camera. And they shipping right now. Hurry

Mod edit: Please don't give stupid answers if someone is asking a serious question
The unit has neither a front facing camera or a notification LED light. Those are both just sensors (proximity and one for the auto brightness).
Though I do like the 3d camera idea..
i think it is sensor like HD2 had, it turn off screen in call when you put your face next phone in a call, it turn off screen, so you dont activate other applications.

[POLL]Which way do you hold your s3 when recording/watching video landscape style?

As posted i'm curious which way you tilt the phone when recording a video (or even watching a video). Does the 'home button' rest in your right hand or your left hand?
Recording - Right. Videos - Keep switching but mainly Right hand.

When you say keep switching do you mean like during a movie, or are you talking about switching between landscape and portrait (phone like you'd normally hold it with 1 hand) ?
and p.s. there is a reason i'm asking this its not just a stupid poll
Recording video, home button in my right hand, because I like to use my right thumb to start/stop the recording.
Watching video without headphones, I use either way.
Watching video with headphones, home button in my left hand so that there is space for the headphone plug to clear my hand (it gets in the way if you have the home button in the right hand).

+1 Very comfortable
Thanks guys..
Thanks for the response guys..
The reason i've been asking is that I also hold the 'home' button in my right hand when recording (i've come to find recordings are upside down if i swap it over to the left hand).. when I record like this i've noticed that the stereo mics are BACKWARDS as they record...
My example
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n9RD2HN--UY
I recorded this card going from the left side of the screen to the right, but if you listen very carefully in headphones (or some of you may even notice in your speakers) the sound of the car is going from the RIGHT side to the LEFT, if you swap your headphones into the other ears, it will sound correct....
Does anyone else notice this weirdness going on? IF i flip the phone over so the home button is in my LEFT hand (but the image is upside down)( the microphones seem to be correctly placed to the left and right) .. Am i just crazy here?

Pretty hard to report bugs to Sammy but we can try here:
http://innovator.samsungmobile.com/...00&parentCategoryId=4&platformId=1&nacode=uk#.
And here in case isn't a device specific bug. However, maybe somebody from Samsung will see it.
http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/list
I'm pretty curious if the issue persists in Jelly Bean. Hope somebody with jelly bean will share his review about this issue.
Post in those two locations and let me know so I will reply there and confirm the bug. More people we complain, faster the fix will come. Also post a ticket to samsung.
Cheers.

i hope the leak 4.2.1 ROM already corrected this stereo recording bug

Camera stopped focusing

I havent seen a thread like this yet... when my phone arrived it was perfect. I took many pictures and they all looked great. A few days ago I was trying to take a picture of a receipt for work and had trouble getting the camera to focus. At the time I never thought much of it and figured it was the lighting or something. Then the next day I was attempting to take a pic of some family and noticed the camera just refused to focus. After some testing I found that my focus seemed to be stuck at a very close range (i.e things within 1-2 feet were in perfect focus) and everything farther away was a blurry mess. Video was even worse.
Eventually a friend of mine who also had a 6P suggested I download and try the app "A Better Camera" as you can use a slider to manually set focus. He demonstrated it for me and sure enough his focus would change as he moved the slider around. Tried it on mine and nothing... focus stayed in that same 1-2 foot range the entire time.
Naturally at this point I contacted Google and jumped through all of their hoops (which included factory resetting the phone... grrrr) and just finally got a replacement order in today.
Has anyone else had issues like this? I am 99% sure its hardware fault with the camera itself (if you google it the first thing that comes up is not me but is the only other person I've seen with the issue).
EDIT: No case or anything on my device
Did you inspect the laser focus on the back, perhaps there's something stuck in there?
It's the small hole in the center of the phone below the camera bezel.

The laser is visible. That is also why we tried the app that allowed manually adjusting the focus. That way we could rule out a laser issue

Can it be opened? may be a hardware fault...

Did you ever resolve this issue? I have the same problem now. Popping sound from camera module when I open camera app or whenever switching between front to rear camera. I ordered a replacement camera module and the tools needed to replace it. The video is on YouTube.
