Hi,
When using the youtube app the volume rocker acts as rewind/fast forward and doesnt change the volume. This is really annoying. Is there any way to change this as I dont want to go into a youtube video, assess the volume of the vid, come out of it and then set the handset volume accordingly.
Secondly, is there a way to enable the notification LED to blink when email is received to the handset? Looked in settings but the option to enable it is greyed out...
Seconded on the YouTube thing. What were they thinking? Any tips?
Indeed.... can't really tell you how much I didnt enjoy loading up a gaga video only to have my ears DESTROYED by beyonce's wailing as she was in the song too
I had the first problem for a while too, here's how I fixed it:
-Download, install and start AEButton
-Disable the volume rocker buttons
-Re-enable them
-AEButton will now tell you that it'll restart the device, let it do so
-Fixed
I don't have HD2 yet, but the HTC volume control should have a custom setting for the Youtube app in order for it to work properly. On other HTC devices, it's under HKLM\Software\HTC\VolumeOverlay\InhouseAPClass\YouTube and should be HKLM\Software\HTC\VolumeOverlay\InhouseEnable2ndUI\HTCYOUTUBE. Do you guys have these keys? If not, you can try to create them and value under them, ClassName=HTCYOUTUBE and Enable2ndOverlay=0 respectively. Also, you could try to go to HKLM\Software\HTC\VolumeOverlay\3rdPartyAPClass, create a key there (name it anything, could be YouTube), and ClassName=HTCYOUTUBE under it. The latter hack allows to have the youtube-style volume control in any application (I use it for CorePlayer, for example).
Hope this will work...
Sigh, just found out that when playing a song under the music tab - and you use the volume rocker, surprise surprise it doesnt actually control the volume at all! It controls the track listings.
Bah! This is a STUPID idea, a shame really!!
WHAT??? Volume rocker doesn't control volume during playback? And how are we supposed to do it?
Correct. Unless it's just mine, but I doubt it?
How to control volume you ask? Well that's simple.
You come OUT of the music application and then adjust the volume, and then go back INTO the application..... Logical.
That's a damn stupid design decision. Beside the inconvenience, music player doesn't need to have the same volume level as the rest of the phone! On my HD I have maximum volume for system/ringer, whereas my music player is set to like 20%. When I plug the headphones in and start it, it's set automatically to this level - otherwise I'd be deaf by now.
And does this happen both with the headset plugged in and without it? Again, on Touch HD you can adjust volume even when the device is turned off while music is playing.
So could anyone check the registry keys I mentioned earlier? Hopefully, it's just a missing setting...
Just read my post again on how to fix it, and no, it's not a design decision, it used to just control the volume for me, it only started controlling playback once I used the mediacontrols on the headset.

Volume Rocker
The Volume rocker works perfectly for me in both YouTube & Music player.
volume keys work for volume in both youtube and music for me..
is there anything you've installed that could interfere?
Hi Fards, great to see you in this thread. You were a valuable asset at ironing out bugs & probs when I was using Itjes Xperia ROM's. I'm sure you will be here too.

Now that just makes it a whole lot worse. I had nothing installed when I tested YouTube originally. Volume controls control cue/reverse. Does that mean unit defective?

Maybe different rom?
Lack of attention to details and throughness so often causes user dissatisfaction.

Possibly. Though its a stock rom sim-free unit. Even if its just a software bug or a rom issue, average Joe (or Josephine) shouldn't have to go hacking the registry, or what not, to fix it. Imagine trying to explain that convoluted series of (potentially disastrous) steps just to make your bloody volume button WORK...
Different roms should not justify this oddity.

See entry 24 for solution here:

Indeed, it would appear it is a problem with the headset, damn bizarre.
This is what happened with me anyway...
Listened to music with the headset in and then the volume controls control the track playback, not the volume, whilst you are IN the application. As soon as you come out then yea that's fine it controls the volume again.
When you disconnect the headset, the settings don't seem to revert and once you go back into the music application, the volume rocker still controls the damn playback not the volume......
.... actually i don't know. From using my headset yesterday I've just tried adjusting volume in the music app now this morning and the volume rocker isnt doing ANYTHING when in the music application....

Resetting seems to solve the problem, don't know when the problem will re-occur though. To be honest, I don't know how to alter registries and things like that!
oh this is ridiculous there HAS to be a way to fix this.. i dont ever want these to do anything OTHER than volume.
OR have a volume control on the inline
at the moment i have skip controls on the headphones AND skip controls on the side of the phone!
This one has been bugging me for a while and for the most part I've just worked around it (by manually triggering the bug/fix myself first).
The situation is that X1 starts off at a particular volume level, and I start listening to music via PocketPlayer though from what I can tell it happens regardless. It sounds "ok", but noticeably flat? I dunno like a mono audio file even volume turned up, although I can't confirm that. Just describing.
OK the bug - if some kind of event happens, the volume suddenly jumps up, without actually changing the setting. So I'll be listening to music and if one of the following occurs:
1. receive or send an SMS/MMS
2. I toggle the phone function, i.e. turn off phone radio. when I turn it back on the volume doesn't change
the volume jumps up, and I have to say the music sounds much better. On the flip side, when the phone happens to ring, it's loud as hell, distorts like hell and annoys everyone in the process. The ringtone volume just sounds over-the-top.
Now I'm pretty sure it's not the music player because #2 (toggling the phone) seems to affect the volume already. The message box alert sound on toggling the phone seems louder the second time.
Anyone have or notice this issue?
The only volume threads I find are all about a low constant volume and don't sound like this one. FWIW I did try the reg changes anyway. It still varies.
Hey guys
I just registered because I experienced some problems with my recently bought nexus 6p. I really like this phone but as soon as I start listening to music using headphones the bugs are invading my phone since I didn't find anything on Google I start this thread.
But let's get to my problem:
I plug in my headphones and start playing music (using blackplayer and Google music). When the screen is turned on the volume turns down itself (I can see the volume bar going down to zero like I'm pressing the button). Also sometimes the powerbutton stops working and I have to restart my phone long pressing the power button.
But also when the screen is turned out I experience some problems. One of the most annoying ones is that music stops and starts randomly (but only when headphones are plugged in!!!). The other bug is music stopping, display turns on and some female voice tells me "Bitte warten! (please wait)" and the screen is gray saying "initializing".
Has someone experienced similar problems? What could help? If you guys need any more information just tell me
I have none of these problems. Have you tried a different set of headphones?
Change your headphones or ensure that they're set up properly. I'm guessing they're wired.
I'm also running into this same issue. I have the latest updates on my phone. This happens about 25 minutes in to listening to media. I've heard that disabling "OK Google detection" fixes it. This hasn't worked for me.
Sounds like wired headphones with a faulty connection to the phones, or faulty buttons on the headphones. I have seen similar behavior with just a wired connection to an AUX Input. The connection on the wire was faulty and due to changing resistance, it looked to the phone like headphone buttons were being pressed. Could also be a fault at the headphone jack on the phone, but it was not in my case. Definitely try other headphones to help narrow down the issue.

wht is ur headphones?
+ isn't thr any automation app like tasker that control handle events on ur phone?
what have u done so far?
+ Restart? Cleaning the headphone port? OR ...?
:good:
Problem reproduced like this:
1. I set my media volume to 0 (mute).
2. I reboot my phone (exynos vers).
3. My media volume will be at maximum when using any app (games, youtube, mxplayer, etc) although the slider will still show 0 volume.
4. Pressing volume down on the physical button will not decrease the volume (the slider will keep showing volume at 0). I can only mute the volume again by pressing volume up first (the volume then immediately becomes lower) followed by pressing down again.
5. The volume will not reset to maximum again until I reboot my phone.
Anyone experienced this problem or know what could be causing it? It's driving me crazy!!
Thanks.
EDIT: I have done more testing and this behaviour only happens when the volume is set to zero before reboot. If the volume is set to anything else, it remains at that level correctly after reboot.
Yup its a bug that annoys the crap out of me.
Exact same, i reboot a few times in a day depending what am doing with the device.
I always listen to music while i work.
If bluetooth fails to connect, Music blurs out the handset even though it was on silent.
Pressing the rocker up and down re-set it back to vibrate.
But really annoying

Yeah annoys the crap out of me. I didn't even figure out it was because of the reboots until today. Are you on stock? Rooted?
Stock, Rooted, TWRP
Latest Firmware.
Build: APD3 i think its on,
Baseband: APBD
So I have noticed for some reason on my phone when ever I hang up a phone call my phones automatically goes into silent/vibrate mode and I have to manually turn the sound back up has anyone else noticed this issue
Mine has done it before. I don't know what caused it, but did a factory reset and it worked for me.
Speaking about volume, I noticed that when I hook anything to the headphone jack, I have to put the volume on the phone 100% to hear anything. Anyone else experienced this?
Update: I use PowerAmp as my music player and I had to enable an experimental option called hires output and that made the volume increase to what appears to be normal levels as opposed to having to increase the volume to 100%.
