Galaxy Gran SM-G530AZ 5.1.1: Any Working Root? - Galaxy Grand Prime Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Working Root SM-G530AZ 5.1.1??
Does anyone know how to root 5.1.1 on SM-G530AZ (Cricket)? Kingroot works, but after reboot, system is locked with unauthorized software flashed screen. Then a system restore with Kies 3 is required. I did manage to use kingroot and get it to reboot just fine but I don't understand what I did exactly. Then I used Flashify (dumb mistake) and on reboot back to restoring...Any Help would be amazing, need foldermount to work. Thanks

SM-G530AZ 4.4.4 firmware file
I found the odin files for 4.4.4, but they wouldn't work to downgrade as far as I can tell, but if they help someone get a downgrade, awesome.

found it on a site call service-gsm.net, had to pay 2 euros for a 24 hour pass to download it.

Its an over the air update, so you either update with kies 3 or go into the about device section in setting and then into Software update, from there you would upgrade it.

Found a post about SRSRoot working on SM-G530AZ! Any testers out there to verify? http ://w ww.srsro ot.com Hit the news tab then click download. I download and installed on Win10 installed fine. Found it about a week ago. Tested. Says Rooted. Phone restarts. Not rooted. Get error: Getting OffSets.. : error: only position independent executables (PIE) are supported. (False)

Any updates on this?

I have tried everything in the book I could find with no luck. I messaged kingroot team. Got a message back saying they would looking into fixing "flash with unauthorized software" on reboot as soon as possible.

I can re store your SM-G530AZ, back to factory 5.1.1

srs root its a big scam.it doesn't work.i try already.
it will say "root successful" and report that to its web site as permanent root, but once you reboot the phone, srs root didn't do a thing.nothing change,NO ROOT.

if anyone found a root metod please tell us! help us!
or that firmware to use on odin, that way i can keep trying all roots and re-flasing if fails.
sm-g530az 5.1.1 cricket. grand prime.

if it would help, I still have a grand prime that is still in the 4.4.4 ... it's my daughter's and I told her not to update it. My son updated his and we hate it.
Is there any way I can use the rom from my daughter's into kies and and restore the 4.4.4 to my son's?
The main thing I want is the ability to wifi tether. FoxFi works on KitKat 4.4.4 on my daughter's, and was working on my son's until he accidentally hit the upgrade link.
I then rooted his , thinking I could use open garden or barnacle, but neither of those work, either.
any ideas?
If you can instruct me on how to extract and save the stock 4.4.4 rom from my daughter's phone on kies, I'd be happy to share the file with you all.
thanks in advance

there's no way you can downgrade from 5.1.1 to 4.4.4. you are stock on lollipop until 6.0. its available. i do belive it will be available for this is a new device.

[Q] Root Attempt after OTA - ODIN Failed (FAIL! Auth)- Secure Check Fail Cache

This has been a long day...
I previously rooted my N900V Note 3 using the Root_de_la_Vega method. Everything was fine until last night when I stupidly accepted the OTA update from Verizon. I lost root because I forgot to persist Super User. Without thinking I started to reroot using the original Root_de_la_Vega method. The ODIN attempt failed.
This is the message stream from ODIN:

Also, on the top of my Note 3 it says SECURE CHECK FAIL : cache
My phone will now only boot into ODIN download screen, and gives me the message: "Firmware upgrade encountered as issue. Please use Software Repair Assistant & try again."
My guess is that I have tried to flash/download a mismatched ROM.
Any suggestions on how to get past the ODIN boot screen and back into normal operation?
Any help would be appreciated, obviously...

NO, using the old software with new update will just brick your phone again... Dont do it.
The only root method once on the new update is not condoned by XDA at the moment but if you do some searching youre sure to find it

I guess I'll just wait for a safe way to root post-OTA. I can live with no root for a while. Thanks for helping out, I shot you some cash for your time and not making me feel like a complete idiot.

I just tried what rhymes with bingo, and it didn't work. It's likely because I just took the OTA straight away without using Kies or unrooting through SU. What was your unroot/re-root method?
I did a full unroot before doing and used it. When it was done it had said it failed (not supported), but supersu had actually been installed and was in the app drawer. Used it to get safestrap installed then flashed the good supersu binary from chainfire's site to get rid of the bad one

This worked for me, I flashed the pit for MJ7 and was able to get out of soft brick
Had the same issue, resolved with .pit solution above. Can we include a note in the N900V Root de la Vega instructions? IE: If you have update to Baseband version N900VRUBMJ7, attempting to flash through Odin will fail on cache writing.
I had the exact same problem as OP. Tried to follow steps, kind of got lost.
So, I was able to unbrick the phone using Odin with VZW_32gb.pit. It boots up fine now, I'm still on MJ7. No root. So, how do you get your root back from this point? I can't use safestrap since no root. Kingo doesn't work either -- if my phone is fully booted, it can't connect to it; if I'm in vol-down/home/power mode, Kingo tries, but fails.

After you install Kango, don't enter the download mode, just boot the phone as normal and make sure USB debugging is on. Attach the phone to Kango, and it will download and install the necessary drivers. Once those are done, you can attempt to root, but it likely won't take. Restart your computer, and then reattach the phone. Try to root method again, and it should work. That's what worked for me.

Yeah, mine just sits there for a while, after which it says "ROOT failed! NotSupport". Bummer!

[issue]WiFi Toggle Does not Work

I got my S4 these days. I have flashed XXUAME2 with Odin, rooted the phone, tried MIUI, but was not satisfied. So I restored the backup. Everything was working fina till I installed Adaway and rebooted the phone. Suddenly the wifi was not working anymore. I clicked on the wifi-witch to activate WiFi - no result. Then I rolled back the backup, installed the I9505_XXUEMJ5_MODEM, installed even the "fix". But the wifi still does not work.
Now I just want to have a normal S4 with the original rom, rooted - and working wifi.
What should I do?
Thanks a lot in advance! :highfive:

Hello mate please download this file and flash it via odin by selecting phone, and Remember to turn it off your phone manually before flashing any modem,If the problem still persist please tell me if your in old bootloader or the new bootloader and will be happy to assist you have a nice day.
To check your bootloader go to download mode and if you have an entry of Knox warranty void then you are having the new bootloader.

Edit: if flashing a different kernel thats not work then I think the only way to fix this would be to flash a complete official stock firmware which you can get it from here http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/2/ or if you want a pre-rooted you can follow the instruction here.http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2250824 have a nice day sir and merry christmas to you.
Cool, I saw your edit post. Thanks, dude.
What Firmware should I choose? The phone was bought in Germany from BASE. BASE is using the E-Plus network. But the phone is not branded nor carrier-locked. Should I choose the E-Plus Firmware?
Plus. How to install the Firmware? Just use Odin3 to flash it?

Alright, I have installed this pre rooted version. Wifi works again, thanks.
One annoying issue: everytime I restart the phone, I have to activate Wifi again and re-enter the password.
Edit: Another very annoying issue: I believe that screen is not being dimmed correctly. It is always to dark, even in a very bright enviroment. Plus: the LEDs of both hardware keys are always on when the screen is on.
I just want to have the normal Samsung Stock rooted.

If you installed the pre-rooted rom and your having a problem do a factory reset bro phone settings> accounts > backup and reset >Factory reset . Or turnb off your device manually and wait a few sec hold power+volume up the same time and do it there as well, Make sure to use the odin 3.09 when your flashing ..ODIN has problems with flashing latest FW's and if WiFi doesn't work you MUST flash ROM again

Understood. Alright, since I don't want to lose all my apps and settings, I decided to flash the Wifi-Fix: XXUEMKE WiFi_FIX
I used Odin to flash this tar.
Unfortunately the Wifi has still the same issue like in the beggining.
Is there an option to flash the wifi fix in the recovery?

Understood. Alright, since I don't want to lose all my apps and settings, I decided to flash the Wifi-Fix: XXUEMKE WiFi_FIX
I used Odin to flash this tar.
Unfortunately the Wifi has still the same issue like in the beggining.

The question is, did u even extract the file you download ? And no you can only flash it via odin and select phone/cp

Hey, thanks for your help, mate!
Yap, I have extracted the file and flashed the *.tar via odin. Still no result.
Alright, to sum it up. The fix does not work for me. Why? Should I try to flash another Modem?
edit: I really want to have the phone working now. I dont care about other modifications, I just want to have the basic OS rooted. That is all. How to do this?

If i have this problem right now,the best thing i will do is either to flash pre-rooted rom or the stock rom if there is any Fc and such . Just turn of your phone the wait a few sec and hold power+volume up in order to reach recovery and do a wipe cache and a factory reset . Hehe
Edit:you already did flash the pre rooted that joku gave u right? Reflash it and follow the step above

Ok, thanks.
There are no FC at all, just the wifi is the problem.
However, I will flash I9505XXUAME2_MODEM, apply the fix and hope that it will work.
Should I flash modem with odin via "PDA" oder via "PHONE"?
Another question: If I download a pre-rooted ROM and flash it via the recovery, will the new modem be included in the ROM?
Thanks again, mate.

There is no fix for the UAME2. That sucks.

Download odin 3.09 its better to use it with s4.
If your gonna flash the modem always use PHONE/CP. If your flashing pre-rooted rom from djembey or samsung stock firmware always use PDA. And if you download custom rom such as omega, phoenix, golden, etc.etc then you flash that via recovery using either CWM, philz or twrp.
Edit try emj5 wifi fix if not just do a fresh install

@Vincenzolt98 @Dionisis89
It's a custom PIT or stock one? From where you downloaded stock ROM?
When I flashed stock ROM I only had to put it at PDA ( AP for newer Odin versions). I think the repartition should be done automatically when is flashed stock ROM.
Try latest Odin version and also make sure that the PIT file is the correct one (can be for 8gb, 16gb for example).
I recommend you to use SamFirm program for downloading stock ROMs faster.
SamFirm: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-tab-s/general/tool-samfirm-samsung-firmware-t2988647 . Even if it's deprecated, it still works fine. The program is attached at attachments in that thread.

It should be the stock PIT. I don't remember where I downloaded it from but it appears to be the correct one. I don't know where the problem is.
The firmware corresponding to my J500FN's CSC is Austrian (ATO), so I downloaded it from that updato site.
The reason I went to find the PIT file in the first place is because flashing stock ROM via Odin failed. It showed this code (last 2 lines):
<ID:0/004> hidden.img.ext4
<ID:0/004> FAIL! (Ext4)
It had failed at this point, and I've tried flashing the 6.0.1 and 5.1.1 stock image, to no avail. Perhaps you have a solution for that instead?

Regsrding hidden.img.ext4 error, try this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2uTHilnRsWw. Credits to @pacower for sharing that video. Also try to use newer Odin version (I used 3.09 or so all the time though).

I've tried this method, but Odin shows me another error: MD5 error! binary is invalid .
And yes, I've tried removing the .md5 from the file name, but then Odin is stuck on file analysis forever. That happens on Odin v3.12. At version 3.11, it simply hangs after choosing that file. At version 3.09 (which also has the option of flashing a PIT file) it shows this:

Did you try to flash it without PIT file?
Also, if you flashed TWRP before, then try to flash TWRP, then boot in TWRP recovery and wipe /system, /data, /cache and dalvik-cache. Then power off the phone, boot in download mode and try to flash again through Odin.
If you didn't flash TWRP before and you don't wanna lose warranty, then boot in stock recovery and wipe, but your internal memory will be wiped too.
I never used a PIT file when I flashed stock ROM.
EDIT:

I'm sorry I didn't try flashing the firmware you provided me with in the first place, thereby "making you" type more on an answer that has been answered (by my flashing the correct firmware). There is something else you might help me with, if you have the time. Why did you provide me with a link to the German firmware? I told you it had Austrian CSC. And yet the German firmware was the one that actually worked. How so? And something else. Which is the website that you sent that firmware from? You edited your post soon after you had posted the link.

Oh wait, I think that maybe SamFirm downloaded latest available update. In SamFirm you can switch to manual mode and type there the region, PDA and CSC and you can download the firmware which you want.

I didn't use SamFirm to download the firmware file, of that I'm sure. Mostly because upon attempting, I failed. I had put SM-J500FN in model name and ATO in CSC, but SamFirm found nothing.
I think you had a link from Mediafire in your response to me and that's how I downloaded the firmware. Hell, I might be mistaken, since I searched through a ton of threads, including some at XDA, in order to find a solution. It's possible I saw the link at another user's post.
In any case, thank you very much, once again. You saved my phone from becoming a paperweight.

Stuck on AT&T Unreleased beta nougat update from earlier this year

Hi, so i'd like to upgrade my AT&T GS7 G930A to the latest available version of android that's released, as i'm still on the nougat beta update from earlier this year that wasn't officially released(meaning i'm still only at security update's from january 2017), however, none of the odin files i've tried have worked (links will be below) it keeps getting stuck at "Initializing" and on my phone it keeps saying "Odin Protocol version error", so i was hoping you guys would be able to help me

the version currently installed on my phone is G930AUCU4BQA4
You need to go completely back to stock in order to get back on nougat latest I suggest that you flash back to the pk1 marshmallow 6.0 and use the odin provided by Sam mobile

Try just flashing the CSC file with that Odin version. It contains the .pit file to format your partitions. If that works you should then be able to flash all 4 files.

so do you have any links to both the PK1 files and odin that you know work? because i still have this problem, and everything i've tried just keeps giving me the same errors, either that odin protocol mismatch, or the model dismatch failure (and you also said try sammobile odin? i can't find it, and their website seems to insist that the G930A doesn't exist)
Sorry for bumping, but I'd really like to fix this
