Soft brick oder Hardwarefehler? Bunte Muster - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
I have a broken Galaxy S4 GT-I9505. After the last update went wrong it falls into bootloop. (it stucks at the Galaxy S4 Screen). After a while you can see the screen showing some grey patterns or lines in RGB colour. After flashing the newest firmware over Odin it just starts into recovery mode after putting out the battery for some minutes. After wiping cache and partitions it starts with sound but stucks at the pulsing samsung logo. After a while it reboots and it starts again. I really dont know what to do... Is it a hardware error maybe? After entering the recovery menu you can see CSC VIA. This happens after flashing a DBT Firmware too.

Can you go into Download mode?

Follow this guide: http://www.android.gs/manually-upda...5-lte-to-android-5-0-1-i9505xxuhoa7-lollipop/

Okay i will try this fw with 4 pieces. I tested just 1pcs fw`s...
I let you know if it worked for me...

The same reaction as mentioned before. After flashing, the phone restarts, stuck at the first Screen and falls back into bootloop after a few seconds.

That happens shortly before reboot.

I think the only way to fix that is zu flash a custom recovery like twrp and flash a new Rom

okay i installed TWRP on the s4. Everytime i start the backup funktion the screen becomes pink or any other possible colour... I think the CPU is the broken part? Would it be enough to replace the mainboard?

Try only to backup data and wipe the system or wipe all partitions. But im not sure if it helps good luck

I think its broken
It doesn't matter what i backup... shortly after the start it crashs....

When backup doesn't work there is only one way. Wipe system/data/cache/dalvik/ (optional internal sd) and install a custom rom for example: cm12.1
At least, you can try if there is no other options.

Ah thats not good,i suppose you dont have a Nandroid either? i suggest you do a nandroid backup right now, format data & cache and try rebooting. If it still doesnt work , your /System partition may be corrupt. best to go with the above mentioned post by klebengan which would return you back to stock.
Mind you, in both cases you would lose your data. so do a nandroid right now, atleast wou would have a chance to extract important data later once you are up and running again.
BTW, This is the wrong place for this thread, it should be in Q & A and i m pretty sure there would be similar or related posts

ok, thanks for the tip but I tried to even follow the Klebengan post but the main problem is that I am not even able to go to the download mode with the volume key up and Plugin in the usb cable.
I have the flash tool and the kdz file but as i said I am not able to go to the download mode so I am not able to use the LG flash tool also.
If somebody can help me with the steps of transfering the zip file in to the phone memory I can atleast try to install the custom rom once the phone goes on and starts than I may try to flash with the kdz file.
pls help

Everything seems okey but maybe you should do a full wipe (Totally wipe)before flashing jamal rom mate? maybe thats why its stuck on boot. or you can use this Super Wipe to do the job for you http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2379104

Shuts off randomly after multiple ROM Flashes

So i tried my best to install cyanogen mod 12 and it eventually worked but it was so buggy, i flashed my original ROM using ODIN and now the phone just shuts off every now and then and gets stuck in a boot loop until i connect a charger, it is not the battery though as it is always around 50% when it does it, i tried Re-installing my original rom but it still continues to do it. I tried to install philz touch to be able to reset the phone for a new ROM but when i press the buttons to boot it up it just turns on, does the stuff it usually does before going into philz touch but then shuts off, can someone please help? Im going to austria in a few days and need my phone fixed for then

if you root a stock rom you have to remove all knox related files , did you?

What caused the soft brick?

Ok, I sold my S4 i9505 (rooted and stock firmware 5.0.1) on evilbay and it was working perfectly when I sent it. 10 days after it got to the buyer they say it won't boot and want to return the phone. I'm extremely suspicious and would like to know if it is possible to find out if they have installed something they shouldn't have. A phone doesn't suddenly soft brick itself or does it?

I assume bootloop, because she said it was "constantly stuck in re-boot" . She apparently managed to get into Recovery Mode. I haven't got the phone back yet, but wanted to make sure I got all the info beforehand.

I did a full factory reset and did a quick test boot afterwards - all was ok. I may have wiped the cache partition but I'm pretty certain that that I didn't delete the system partition.
Does it has guarantee? When yes how long it left.
If you get the phone back I would flash a stock rom from sammobile with Odin, reboot and if it comes to the setup wizard you can give it her back .

Ultimately that's what I'll do, but I won't be sending it back to her. I'm already £££s out of pocket.
Honestly, I think she played about with it and messed it up. It took her 10 days to contact me. And since I booted the phone to the setup screen before I shipped it and it was working fine.
But I would like to know if it's possible to find out if and what she did and subsequently prove that

I had a similar issue, I fix it by reinstalling the stock ROM, with Odin.
