you should be fine. if you dont boot, just reflash aokp, dont wipe a thing.

Get into recovery and wipe data and cache
Wipe data again moreover re install your rom again...

No, you can root your device. See motochopper in the development forum. You can also use twrp, which I recommend, custom recovery. Don't let your device upgrade the firmware or you'll lose the ability to use a "real" custom recovery
