So I just picked up a Nexus 6 and so far I am loving it.. But what bothers me is looking at all the negative stuff people are saying about it. Battery life, size, stuttering/ lag and so on. As of this message I have 2:10 screen on time with 56% battery left since I took it off the charger around 3 this morning..Clean ROM and Faux kernel is my setup. Coming from an M8 this is acceptable.. Front speakers are loud and clear.. Lag?? What lag.. In my eyes this phone is damn near perfect.. Does anybody feel the same way?
The only time I experience lag is with battery saver mode (obviously) and sometimes when I plug the phone in when the battery is at around 20% or less. The phone is extremely fast for me, and I love it so far. I normally get at least 3 hours of screen time, and it can last me 2 full days. One time I turned battery saver on when I had about 70% battery, and it lasted 5 hours of screen time. That was with me using GPS and data like crazy to get around New York (visited my bro in NY). I've compared the screen and speakers to a friends M8 and he likes my screen more. My speakers go louder but his are a bit clearer. The camera is amazing, especially with HDR!
I am with you. I am happy with size, performance, and battery. Awesome phone, in my opinion. Not sure how it could be better.
I think its a great phone also... Completely stock, no root... I can easily get 2 days on 1 charge and over 2 hours on screen time. Real world performance is more important to me then how long the screen is on....

Some say they get stutter on unlock and recents on custom kernels.
No complaints here, love it and happy with the size. No issues thus far from my usage.
This IS a big phone. I thought the Note 3 was big when I had it but this one takes the cake..lol
I need to try stock for a while. The first thing I did was start flashing custom stuff. Didn't even give ole google a chance.

I'd say that depends on the kernel. Lean and Franco never get me any stutter on unlock, personally.

I'm on leankernel and it stutters every unlock, no issue with recent though.
I think the battery life is awesome on this phone. Currently at 75% after 12 hrs off charge & 1.5 hrs on screen. Usually, by the time I put it back on charge at 11pm, I'm at about 25% & 5.5-6hrs on screen. Can't complain about that.

That's my main issue on every custom kernel I've tried. They can be smoother than stock kernel in other areas, but all exhibit that damn unlock stutter.

Are you running stock ROM and kernel? I only got 5 hours screen time with battery saver on

No, I'm using cm12 & elementalx. But there's no real difference from stock for me as far as battery. I ran it bone stock for 3 weeks.
I've had the phone for almost 2 weeks now and am very happy with the performance of the phone. The phone is large and takes getting used to, but now every other phone seems like a toy compared to the nexus 6. I'm rooted on stock 5.0.1. Battery life is 4-5 on screen time, around 15-17 hours off the charger. Coming from a s4, camera is a big let down and that's about the only gripe I have with the Nexus 6. Overall still the best phone I've had in terms of the Android experience. Looking forward to future updates.
Coming from the Verizon Note 3 all I miss is the camera. The screen is not as good as the Note 4 but its not bad either. This is my first nexus device. The big screen and stock Android is what made me choose this device over the Note 4. I haven't encountered any issues. Loving the phone and all the Roms available. Its a flashaholics dream ☺
Quick question... OK.. This is my first Nexus device but I've been around since the froyo days with my Vibrant but I'm confused with the ROM choices... Aosp based and stock lollipop.. I thought stock android was Aosp. Just got the phone Monday so I really haven't had time to try out all the Roms seeing that is so many to choose from.
I'm happy with mine too. I was unsure about stepping up to a phone this large, but I've come to love the larger screen. I fractured my left wrist in October and even with the Nexus 5 certain operations proved difficult to complete one handed when it becomes mandatory. I knew going in this would be a two handed phone and I've adapted just fine. My only real complaint is ambient display needs work. I really like the concept, but after the first day I managed to place calls, perform searches and open web sites all without taking it out of my pocket. I don't particularly care for the placement of the buttons and the gradually increasing volume is a bit annoying. Battery life has been better than my Nexus 5 and worlds ahead of my 4. I love the speakers. The more serious complaints I've read I haven't personally experienced.
Best phone I've owned hands down.

Can we see some screen shots of your battery stats and settings on how u got that
Hello guys.
I know that there is a "Overheating" - Thread but I opened this thread mainly because my experience so far with this device differs extremely from the things you gotta hear and read in Reviews.
I have my Z3+ for about 10 Days now and I didn't run in any troubles at this time. No single "Overheating"-Issue. No problemes with camera [oh wait, i didn't done 10 Antutu runs and then tried to record an hour of 4k video. maybe because of this?]
As I got my Device I did at first the OTA, then a Repair trough the PC-Companion like one User suggested here and I'm perfectly fine. When I read at xda there seems to be a genereal "Snapdragon 810" - Bashing. I mean performance wise the SD810 ist just for the Moment on a really top Level. I even get really good battery Life after i dealt with some problems where Sony isn't the one to blame (Google fix this mobile radio active bug...).
Yeah it might get hot under certain Circumstances but my i9100 gets alot hotter when i'm using it like my Z3+. So whats the point of the moans? I really don't get it. Seems for me like a ****storm simply caused by negative reviews and most of other users chiming in -.-
Whats your opinion / Expierence ? I hope you all get the point because english isn't my first language
I've been using the phone for almost 3 weeks now and I've got to agree with OP regarding the Snapdragon 810.. Performance wise almost everything is a breeze.. This SOC with the Adreno 430 is such a beast..
Sure the phone gets hot at times but not to a point where the phone became uncomfortable to hold in the hands.. I would say the phone gets warm more frequently than it actually gets hot.. Even if it gets hot, the phone actually cools down pretty fast too.. So, not really a big deal..
Performance (when the phone is warm/hot) does not drop like what reviewers says in their reviews.. I hardly notice any stuttering when the phone gets hot after running heavy apps like playing Mortal Kombat X..
Battery life is good as long as you keep the device settings at optimum level (auto brightness, battery saving mode for GPS, etc).. Based on my usage (Facebook, Whatsapp, Instagram, Chrome, playing games for a sum of 45 minutes, playing music at intervals), I can get a one day battery life with the battery remaining at 20-30% before I went to sleep..
Do note that these are my experience on the (.24) firmware.. I've just updated to the (.31) firmware a couple of minutes back and hoping to get an overall better experience, if not the same..
I am also using this phone about 10 days. Phone is not much hot as people saying. I am a old user of sony before this I am using z2 and some time z2 also hot like z3+. At this point a little warm not hot. I am only facing one issue that battery drain very fast. Any suggestion about battery drain. When I buy this phone immediately update through pc com plain. Any suggestion should I once again repair with pc complain or go to service center any help. Charge 100% in the morning 8am just 5 calls about 3 to 4 min and only 3g or Wi-Fi on for max 3 hours( not continuously ).. Any Suggestion, Rest of this phone is awesome.

head over to the Batterylife - Thread. Post Screenshot of your Battery Stats. And you'll get help. Deactivate mobile Data as often as you can, maybe this will fix your Battery.
I have been positive to SD810 since the beginning and its because of the experience that I have had the last 6 weeks that I can say that this is more of a software problem than a hardware problem. For me the temp has been normal for a Z device and I felt like the Z3+ was equal to my Z2 but after doing a full reset 2 days ago I a seriously thinking that some memory leak or something that is overbloating the OS is the culprit and not the SOC. My temps dropped down by as much as 15-20 C and that's pretty damn huge for a phone. Battery life is also improved significantly since the reset so there is definitely a sense of either Android being bad at handling itself properly or something in the .24 FW definitely feels off in terms of bugs. I am quite hopeful about the incoming 5.1.1 update that has still yet to surface because it probably means Sony is bugfixing and optimising the FW as good as possible.
So no I don't think SD810 is a bad chip, its all a media hoax to me because the phone was awesome before I had to do the reset and it is awesome now. The heat is less than what my sister gets on her 5s and matches my old Z2
Sorry friend I am using my phone more then a month now. And I have done the ota update and repair through pcc as well. But my heat alot. I am a very heavy user. And sometimes its get very hot and the software seems to slow down in performance. no idea how to fix it.

That's unfortunate to hear, my phone was in a very heated environment the last 3 weeks(35-40 C outside) but it still held through pretty good. Now I am back in Sweden and its cooler than my Z2 used to be now after my reset. Don't really know what you can do if you already did a reset :/
Sony closes 'only' the camera app when internal temp reaches 55C. But some sites picture this like hell breaks loose & all apps crash. Same deal on Z2/Z3 - no biggie. Other phones are hitting 70C after doing 4K - it's cool. Hmmmm - time to throw out some marketing pennies. Let's not forget about the 'warning' on the camera that pops up at 45C. You know 'beware of dog' sign creates more news than the dog itself. Kill all warnings & let the phone reach 100C (or more & a terminator style final animation would be epic). People would be happy to use the camera with burned hands. But if you show them a heating warning even at -50C, they will still freak out. It's a psychological thing, really.
Another funny sh*t is throttling. There is no news on 'GPU' throttling. Why? That's where 430 shines against the competition. Again, marketing pennies.

The camera is protected by Sony's aggresive limit, Samsung and other dont take it as aggressively and the camera will run of higher risk of getting faulty earlier. So sure it might be a bit annoying but it is for the phone's and the camera's best.
yeah I just sent back my Z3+copper one back to Expansys-USA yesterday, I tried everything to get mine to stop from heating up, I did all the updates , the PC repair, factory resets and nothing, I`m not a heavy user and i had been using S6 edge before, and it never heated up like the Z3+ does, when taking pictures and etc., so I sent it back, do get me wrong I love Sony phones, but this one had to be returned, I never seen a phone heat up as quickly as the Z3+ I had.

We can agree on that. Does anyone appreciate it though? Does it do any good to Sony beside scoring bad press? As I said, even if they close the camera at 0C, people will still freak out. Oh, my S6 front glass started to unglue itself at top right corner (where it gets warm usually) after 5 days of use - but there is no news on that. Sony should do the same sh*t.
Most people forget how the Z2 behaved in its early weeks and month. It had the exact same problems as the Z3+ has now like very limited use of 4K recording, etc. But Sony delivered and some updates later everything worked very well. The Z3+ "just" got released and only got one tiny update. Sure it would be nice to have a phone without problems from the very beginning but that's nearly impossible with all these numbnuts demanding a new stunning flagship every 6 month.
As with the Z2 Sony delivered stable and improving updates and so will they do with the Z3+ in the very near future.

You better do appreciate it, we all know what happened with the Z2s if they got to warm - the back glass unglued itself. It happened to me the first week because of the temp limit not kicking in and its happening to your S6.
Its not like tge companies put in limits because its fun or anything.

Z2 got a pass as a first generation 4K recording device. It's quite sad that they haven't learned anything. I'm fine with that. But to make things worse, the idiots bundled some goofy cr*ps (AR stuff ) with the camera app that heat up things & nobody will ever use those junks. How messed up is that? Just make those craps downloadable like other camera extensions - everyone would have been happy!
Is not a myth xD
I mean, one of my usual activities are GPS (waze) and music over BT from work to home, about 1 hour and a half, after a repair and a factory reset the phone just gone like this after 30 minutes of use

the problem is not only the overheating, is the battery drain that causes... went from 80 to 56 in 30minutes, when z3c just drain about 20-22% in 1:30...
I'm sure that is a software problem, as a note, just for cheking an email and a couple of whats, the phone did this today in the morning
As a question, what customization number u have ppl that says "there's not overheating"? I experienced A LOT of difference between customizations in XSP (battery drain, ram managment, performance), so maybe with Z3+ could be the same.... If I'm not wrong, flashtool is now compatible with Z3+, right?
I'm thinking about keep Z3+ or go back to Z3c.... I have to say I'm too dissapointed with this two phones... but well I have until wednesday to decide because I can refund it for free

yeah but that's why I want to know what customization user with no overheat have to try it... now I remember I have the dual sim version so may be different....
Now I have a problem, I tried to restart the phone by powering off (not using restart) and the phone just turned off and gets hot and I can't turn it on because doesn't respond, doesn't detect charger, PC companion doesn't detect, nor flashtool.... and the phone is getting hotter.... any ideas?
Before that the phone has ~60% battery and was in standby, ten minutes before was playing music over BT w/o problem

Hmm that is so weird. It should always start unless it is going above huge temps. Do this put it in the fridge/freezer for just a bit and then try turning it on. Also do flash the Hong kong or China ftf as I know my friend uses that one and it works pretty good for him on his dual.
Also how do I check my customization number on a Z3+? So yeah I nailed down my version - Nordic Combined(Swedish phone) with 1295-4733_R10A

I'll try China then because my Z3+ come with Hong Kong one.... The customization always can be seen (in Xperia phones) trough service menu (*#*#SERVICE#*#* on dialpad) on Service Info > software info.
And my theory is that the phone doesn't turn off completely that's why is still hot (but it wasn't hot when I turned off).... I'll try the fridge thing xD, if not I think the battery will eventually discharge so I can charge it again... I hope xD

Ooh if it is still on in the background use power button and volume up until the phone vibrates. If it does vibrate it probably hanged up on a power off state. This happened ONCE on my Z1, tried turning it off but it stayed on while in fact everything was off except for the phone. It didnt listen to anything except the Pwr-VUP command otherwise you have a force restart button beside the sim card
I read many reviews about OPT they all said that OPT had following issues:
Heating Much. - Do you feel like you can't hold on hand?
Fingerprint reader not working properly.
Battery life sucks. - How many hours it will long?
Some OPT owner saying that these issues has been solved in latest update.
Is that true?
Hi !
I got my OPT last 2 weeks and I found that it don't heats a lot. Fingerprint works properly with OxygenOS 2.1 (like 90% of the time it works), and battery life is about a 2 days with a standard use (data or wifi enable all the time).
Sorry for my bad english, I hope you understand.
The op2 heats, and some would say a lot, but it definitely doesn't reach a point where you can't hold it. After intense gaming the upper part of a screen is hotter then lower but its not that bug deal. On 2.0.1 I reached 82C on one sensor for a second but didn't manage to do it on 2.1.
Fingerprint scanner is kinda weird, it is a good one but needs improving on the software side. Mine works almost every time but sometimes it just won't read and I either have to clean it with some material or reconfigure the finger and it works again.
As for the battery, I get almost 5 hours on screen (stock). With powerbank I don't have to care about saving battery at all. It will probably get even better when we get more efficient kernels and ROMs.
The battery life seems comparable to the OPO.
As far as heating, I haven't noticed anything alarming. Never more than my OPO did.
Fingerprint works great on Oxygen. So far there aren't any User ROMS that have it working.
In the last 45 days, I've had:
HTC One M9
Galaxy S6
Moto X Pure
OnePlus 2
They all got hot when excessive use... But more specifically, the OPT got pretty warm during initial setup, which in-turn caused the battery to drain a little faster... But It also cooled down a lot faster than the others in the list........And, no it doesn't get too hot to hold. My M9 would get so hot, I'd stick it in the refrigerator when doing a backup or downloading a lot of updates.
As for the finger print sensor, I played around with it and had no problems. It actually worked better than the Galaxy S6 (which I had to re-input my finger print a few times) ....But, in general, I don't really like using my fingerprint to unlock my phone so I disabled it.
Battery life......Is about on par with all these devices as well. I think it's better than the S6 and Moto X Pure, the M9 had a little better standby time.
You can see from my screenshot that I've got 57% battery left with 2hrs of SOT and just over 11hrs off the charger. Not really too bad?
I noticed my OPT heats up a LOT when running nandroid backups creation or restore on TWRP, but never with normal phone operations.
My fingerprint scanner works great
Battery life is about 24h with my normal use.

- heats up even during setup, more if playing a game. Reminds me of my old LG G3.
- I removed the screen protector and glad to know that the glass feels to have an oleophobic coating (which I feared to be similar to the my old Xperia Z Ultra that removing the screen protector unmasked the basic non-coated glass)
- battery is bad like all the current Android phones. My Mi 4i can last me up to 10pm everyday on heavy reading, listening to spotify, surfing, and some random youtube videos. My iPhone 6 plus can last me 2 days with the same usage - so I can say 4hrs screen on time is PRETY BAD FOR ANY FLAGSHIP However my screen on time is 2hrs 50mins to 3 hrs only so yeah its pretty bad.
- fingerprint scanner works similar to my iPhone 6 plus - in that is sometimes works flawlessly and sometime you have to tap your finger multiple times. Avarage.
- charging the damn phone takes about 3hrs to 100%
It heats less than my Iphone 5s, Battery is 4 times my Iphone 5s and Figure prict is better than iphone 5s...can't say after it become old till now it is very good ...
1. Heating issue is a NON issue. it gets warm but nothing so noticeable
2. Finger print sensor works fine. you have to press it like a button
3. Battery life is good, the wakelocks are gone post 2.10

I'm using A2001.
Heating - it doesn't heat as bad as my S4 IF you're one stock. When I flashed a custom kernel a week ago, it heated pretty fast and the buttons were really hot as well that i could feel a minor burn.. But that's prolly because the kernel was still buggy like the op2 never sleeps, they've got an update now but i didn't flash it, gonna wait till it's stable and all.
Fingerprint scanner - the fp scanner for me is better than the iphone 6.
Battery life - it doesn't suck. I uninstalled those useless pre-installed apps. Made sure to greenify any apps that may run when the screen is off. I could get 3 days with my normal usage- texting and internet browsing.
I hope this helpsm

Thank you all for your information.
I saw this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-m02uL3YTdo
I think heating issue is there only on heavy usage.
I'm coming from a verizon Droid Turbo, and this phone struggles comparatively. First off, it's nearly impossible to type when my left palm is on the side of the screen edge. It constantly hits the symbol or caps lock button, creating errors. That's just bad design.
But aside from that, I bought this phone because I wanted even better battery life. I think my first day gave me something like 3 hrs of sot, and android system was the number one battery drain.
I ran a test last night. Didn't touch my phone for six hours, and I noticed it was held awake for 45 mins. And it didn't fully doze. I'm attaching the screen shots. What would cause this?

Battery life on Turbo is better. Ease of functional typing easier on Droid. I'm sure the specs on this are better, but like most people, I do basic Web, email, apps. I don't play games. I did that fine on my Turbo, without the hassle of sensitivity screen edge that made it impossible to type an email or text out. And the battery drain on this is terrible. 3.5 SCREEN On for Verizon users?

I did that fine on my Turbo, without the hassle of sensitivity screen edge that made it impossible to type an email or text out. And the battery drain on this is terrible. 3.5 SCREEN On for Verizon users?

Have no drsin issues at all. Im on international version. And if you get a phone for easier typing, u can get a cheap androod phone with lpw specs. So ues, droid is a good choice for you
Coming from the turbo I'm having a hard time adjusting to the curved screen and phantom touches too. I also miss the chop for flashlight feature. However, waterproof, better camera, SD slot, and Samsung pay win me over.
Hey all!
I have a serious predicament with my phone situation. Currently i own an iPhone 5s that im getting rid of, i have an Old LG 2 (VZW Edition unlocked) with a cracked screen that i can fix for $100.
My question is, is it worth it for me to fix the LG G2 for $100..or should i just buy a different flagship device thats newer...say from 2014 or 2015.
Any help would be so appreciated..

A new phone would be better but like you my phone was broken for a a year and I only got it repaired a week go and I must say despite advances in Camera I'm honestly loving this phone it is still super fast and the battery is amazing. People at school are still asking me what phone this is and say the phone looks fresh. I'm currently on CM12 but having trouble to get to CM13 but I seem to be like the only person.

I really can't afford anything too new right now, and i dont do a whole lot of stuff on my phone, just need a good stable device that is still fast for web browsing, email and some light games. And i also remember this phone having amazing battery life, something i dont have with this damn iphone 5s..
I bought the LG G2 in 2014, summer, and i broke it probably a month after i bought it. Do you think the battery may have degraded over time? it took a LONG time for me to get it to 95% charge last night..over 5 hours. Is this normal for the G2?
Thanks for your response!

Okay I kept charging my phone when it was broken but Yes the battery could have degraded cause mine has but I'm still getting good battery life.
I would normally switch to Aeroplane mode when I go to school and my battery would remain on 100% until i put mobile data on and start using the phone if I listen to music at school and play the odd game ( Drift Zone 2 is my fav right now ) It will still last me the whole day until I get home and I will put it on charge at 10 or 11 depending on how heavy I use it when I'm home.
I suggest finding some way to see how the battery is performing and if everything is good then I would replace the screen and use the phone.
It really is still a great phone for what you would want it for. Its fast with all tasks and can still handle games. For me The only downfall is the camera. I think it is outdated but that would only be a problem if you are crazy about taking photos.
