Cannot browse files to Flash in TWRP - Nexus 6P Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

After manually flashing files to upgrade to 6.0.1, I flashed TWRP 2.8.7.0. But I am not able to flash supersu from sdcard because when I browse to the folder, it looks empty.
Anyone has any idea why this is happening?

if you have not formatted userdata after you flashed the recovery img in fastboot that would be one reason, the other reason could be if you used a pin/pattern/password for your phone. if you disable that or format the userdata in fastboot then you should be able to see it.

TWRP 2.8.7.0 didnt support decryption, and that may be why you cant
starting with 2.8.7.1 and now 2.8.7.2 it does support decryption.
Please download 2.8.7.2 and flash that and report back, bet ya its going to work fine after that.

You're using an outdated version of TWRP, it can't decrypt your storage. Update to the latest version and it'll be fine.

[NEED HELP] Flashing MM TWRP

I wanna go to the RR MM version ROM for Zenfone 5, but fewmsome days before I decide to do it, my microusb got some kind of bug, anyway, it doesn't connect to pc (I tried everything). So, in the tutorial says to flash the new recovery made by them, but i don't have how to connect it on pc to flash the new TWRP recovery, but I have a funcional system working (the stock .87 version from asus) and I want to know if there's a way that I can flash the recovery without using pc (once that my microusb jack is f*kd). I saw in other forum that "recovery.img" is inside the /factory partition, so apps like Flashify cannot read and write on it. Just droidboot can do that. So this is what I want to know, of there's a way to flash the recovery trough the booted Android and if I can make a script to Droidboot run. (Of course, all of them without pc). Or even if I can flash RRMM on my current twrp version (2.8.7.0)
Thanks xda.
Try to flash it via TWRP 2.8.7.0
"Error flashing image, no partition specified".
Twrp actually doesn't show any partitions to install the image.

I provided flashable zip for my RR MM rom. So you shoudl just choose zip archvie with rom to flash it.
It is not a image.

Boot Partition Hidden in TWRP

My rooted Axon 7 (A2017U) does not show the boot partition in TWRP when backing up or restoring a backup that previously showed the boot partition. Here is what I did prior to the problem:
1. Manually updated stock rom to B32 using DrakenFX procedures, which includes flashing bootstack. (I made a backup after the upgrade of boot, data, and system - as usual.)
2. When I restored AICP nandroid, boot was shown along with data and system. Phone operated normally, but would not flash OTA upgrade - error 7. (Attempted to flash a previous version that I had flashed before with the same error 7.)
3. Rather than unzipping the rom and deleting the asserts line, I flashed the universal boot image from LineageOS and was able to OTA without issue, but when I ran the TWRP backup, boot did not show and only system and data backed up.
4. Restored the stock nandroid, boot did not show.
My phone is operating normally, but I find it disconcerting to have made an unintended change and would appreciate any help in correcting my error.
Thanks in advance.

No, still waiting for assistance.
Reflash TWRP. I had partitions missing and there was a weird version of TWRP installed for unknown reasons. Reflashing the latest TWRP fixed my problem.

That worked. Thank you very much. Weird how that happened.
Just as a matter of interest, I just did a clean install of AICP, which required installation of universal bootstack, and found that TWRP version had been replaced with an old version that did not show boot partition when doing nandroid. Reflashed current build image and boot file was visible.
Keep the latest .img on TWRP, and when you flash the universal bootstack, flash the TWRP .img after. I've asked over at the LOS thread if they could update the TWRP version on the bootstack and nobody answered lol
Should we use the one from twrps official website? I'm having the same issue but I can't remember changing my recovery.

You don't change your recovery, the universal bootstack zip does
It's the same whether you use the zip from TWRP's official website or raystef66's download center really

I updated to Oreo and now storage won't mount in twrp

I can't do anything in twrp and am trying to root it but can't find magisk or any other files because twrp won't show me them.
I tried going to wipe > repair or change file system and clicking on it says invalid partition selection. Can't backup either because storage won't mount.
Also if I try to reboot to system out of twrp, twrp just crashes before my phone restarts(It still reboots into the OS though). I never even get a chance to click the reboot button.
Lastly if I want to get back into twrp it seems I have to flash the twrp via the bootloader every time.
And I CAN transfer files while OOS is running, I just can't get them in TWRP.
I've read that formatting might work, but will formatting remove the OS? I wouldn't want to chance anything since it seems impossible to flash anything right now.

Do you have to flash twrp for this to work, or can you just fastboot into the twrp image?

please help. tried to flash OTA and now i cant get back to OS

hey guys, so i used twrp to flash a OTA then flashed twrp again and rebooted and when i went to flash magisk i was just shown a list of all random numbers/letters. i booted into bootloader flashed twrp img, booted into recovery and all my files were there once again but i still cant get into the OS, can anyone please help?
why is flashing so complicated these days? even the recovery works different. the last time i rooted (4 years ago maybe) you could use twrp to make a backup and it was done simple as that (i did this on the oneplus 6t about 4 weeks ago and got the issue with my storage just being a list of numbers and letters and had to find a way to fully wipe and re install OOS) and the same for flashing, i could just flash something and it was fine, no issues.
Do you have an OTG adapter and pendrive? You can copy the full OTA zip, TWRP zip and Magisk zip on to that and flash from TWRP using that. Your internal storage is encrypted and you won't be able to access it until you can reboot OOS fully. If that didn't work, you may have to do a factory reset/wipe (including internal data) to get the phone to boot again. You will obviously lose any unbacked data.
Which version of TWRP are you using? Which version of OOS are you using? Most likely you just don't have the correct version, and you updated to the latest version OOS with the new security patch and it no longer can decrypt it.
Have you tried TWRP 3.3.1-7 from here? If you boot the .img file from fastboot, can you decrypt your data?
Most likely you just need to flash Magisk, and you will be fine. For updates, it's always as you did, flash the full OTA update, TWRP installer, reboot to recovery, Magisk. It is recommended to uninstall Magisk, however I usually don't do that personally. Official Instructions here. You just have to make sure you are using the correct version of TWRP, otherwise you can run into encryption issues, as you found out when there are updates.

It just won't boot. You can still recover from this by enabling the setting in twrp and reformatting data.
You will lose data regardless of this being enabled because this is only used for formatting data. That's what formatting data does

can I install shrp recovery zip and then miui12...
what I will do is -->
1. install this recovery in b slot through minimal adb
2. boot in twrp
3. install shrp recovery zip file (phone is still in b-slot)
4. change slot to a
5. reboot recovery
6. format data
7. install miui12
8. reboot
will this steps safely boot my device???
hello. first thank you very much for your hard work. i really apreciate.
so, i was on stock rom, freshly unlock the bootloader and flash twrp unofficial for android 10.
then in twrp i flash the zip installer and reboot to recovery.
once again in twrp i, like i'm use to, wipe successfully dalvik/system/data to erased all of stock rom.
then i format data (the one typing "yes" for confirmation) but it broke internal storage.
twrp does not show any file or folders. i rebooti in recovery but it won't show anything
i reflash twrp and the same... nothing.
so i went to fastboot mode and flash shrp, boot up in recovery but it was still not showing files or folders of internal storage. i wipe dalvik/system/data and reboot to recovey.
and this time it show folder but with codes like "QRGHQ9R4HGVUQE4RNG98TH9324HTG923" OR "66EFQ3KFK4TK34KT3K4K34K2KK2" and so...
what do i 'm doing wrong?
can i format data with out breaking internal storage?
the only thing i can do to get internal storage was flash stock rom again, i have not encrypted anything, i don't use microsd card, even i don't use password to unlock screen.
thanks in advance for your comments.

Ok you performed Format > And type "Yes" , actually this will Format your internal storage as well, RIP for your Data now else you took a backup earlier.
Now connect your phone to your PC with data cable , in mount section check if MTP is enabled if not then enable it , now your phone's internal storage shows in PC transfer Rom flash Zip files to internal storage, disconnect from PC and flash that rom.
Recovery choice is yours SHRP or TWRP
Note - Do not perform format > yes before flashing that zip.

Not able to flash recovery
I am on the latest stock android patch, probably that's why not able to flash recovery.
First I tried TWRP 3.3.1-2 Unofficial by Nikesh Kataria from the other post. As it said it supported android 10 with decryption and everything. But it didn't work.
Now with version 3.4.0-0, I am able to boot into recovery using platform-tools. But the files in /sdcard seems to be encrypted (judging by the codes shown instead of readable folder names).
Could someone please help me suggest any recovery which supports latest stock android 10 with decryption?
Is there a way around this?

Decryption will only work if you format data first. This is with every recovery. Has to be a factory reset of stock ROM or fresh install of custom ROM and from then twrp will be able to decrypt if it is installed, you're not installing it either by the way just temporarily installing it to inactive slot which will get wiped on reboot. For twrp to decrypt you must install it using the installer.zip by flashing it in you're temporarily installed twrp.img

Thanks for the help.
But after booting into twrp, how do I install twrp.zip. I even tried sideload that also errors out "Unable to find partition for path /cache".
May be I am missing some step. But here is what I have done.
Unlocked bootloader.
Booted into TWRP on inactive_slot(i.e. slot_b , in my case) with command fastboot flash boot twrp.img
Trying to install twrp.zip (failing at this step itself).
