Can't see old phone on restore screen - Nexus 6P Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I owned a Nexus 5 and managed to return it to Google some days before the new Nexus came out. I got my 6P today and, in the meantime, I used a Moto X 2013 borrowed by a friend. Today I tried to restore apps from the Moto X but the device does not show up on the drop down menu. All that it's there is my Nexus 5 from almost two months ago. Any idea on how to solve this? I still have the Moto X so I'm able to do whatever I need on it.
--EDIT--
Nvm, fixed it. Backup option was turned off on the Moto X. I'm stoopid facepalm.

Moto X will definetly get the Android L (probably its last update) .
The question is if we will be getting a dev preview too or just when it releases in October.

I know, but maybe companies have access to the source code.
I could only hope Motorola can make a dev preview for us too. I know it is a long shot, but I can only dream.
Regardless, all APKs will be taken out of the Nexus 5 preview and will probably work for every phone (new Gmail for exemple).

Yeah, I'm hoping too, but at least we'll have some APKs to play with. Maybe someone will ape some features via Xposed too. I love having new toys, like a brand new OS, but I am so happy with the current form of my Moto X that I won't be completely bummed if even the developer edition Moto X devices don't see a preview release.

I can't wait to use the new keyboard as well. It looked really good.
I'm waiting the moto 360 for now!!
If moto X doesn't update to the latest android L, I definetly flash a custom ROM or buy a nexus phone
I think it's quite likely that the X will get Android L when it's done, as even the Moto E is promised to get it. There will always be CyanogenMod and thelike, but I won't give up touchless controls and active notifications :/
As for the beta - Don't think so, but one can hope. Maybe kind of like motorola's soak-tests.
Punti from Motorola is on record as saying that the Moto X, G and I assume the E. ...will be supported for two years guranteed...
He even responded to one of my posts on G+ in which he confirmed it.

While I am all for new stuff. Let moto do it right. It will be ready when it is ready. Plus we get 4.4.4 soon.

New Moto X features to trickle down to old devices

Motorola has been killing it with updates for the past year. As soon as a new version of Android would come out, Motorola would soon start rolling it out to its Moto X and even Moto G devices. It was incredibly quick, even beating out the Nexus 4 once. However, the new line of Motorola products has been announced and it has come with a lot of new features not available in the old.
Luckily, Motorola will be keeping to its awesome reputation and bringing a lot of the new software features to the old devices.

That is most definitely a good thing. I'm still most likely going to be getting the new moto eventually though. Must this moto x is by far the vest phone I have used to date.

Just thought it would be fun to see which phone everyone is coming from
Coming from LG G3
I'll have my nexus on Tuesday

Came from the HTC M8. Loving the Nexus 6! Software is excellent, was a little timid to give up Sense because I liked it quite a bit. Only thing I'm missing is the camera software

Coming from the M7 and before the the OG Galaxy Note. Good to be back on a larger phone. Loving the speed increase and the stock lollipop. Dont miss sense, touchwiz or any other overlay.
coming from the previous nexus(nexus 5), just like before this year, and before that.. came from a g1 2 weeks before androids official release, to a nexus one, nexus s, galaxy nexus, nexus 4, nexus 5, and now the nexus 6
Last year I had:
Moto X, G2, One M8 and then I rode into the N6 on an N5.
I had HTC Evo 4G LTE going strong till the frame bend where the kick stand sits. I purchased a used LG Optimus G to get me going as there weren't anything close to what I was looking for, till ofcourse, the arrival of Nexus 6. Easily the best phone I've ever had.
Nexus 6 > OnePlus One > Nexus 5 > Nexus 4 > Galaxy Nexus > Nexus S > Samsung Vibrant (Galaxy S1), G1
Last two phones I used as a daily driver were the LG Optimus G Pro and the Moto X 2013 Dev Edition.
I am not so sure that some of the things Google did with Lollipop are improvements, but I just got the N6 and still getting used to it and learning it's ins and outs.
Coming from m8

Coming from note 3. I miss my SD card and IR blaster
Got the N5, galaxy nexus, and the first smahtphone for me was a Sammy Omnia II sporting windows mobile. This and other forums showed me the android light...
From the Nexus 5 <- Galaxy Nexus <- HTC Evo <- G1
Ditched my Note 2 for my n6. Don't miss the Note 2 one bit.
M8 to g3 for awhile and here now. Loved all of em but this is by far the latest and greatest.
Coming from the Nexus 5, it's Nexus only for me

Got my Nexus 6 on Friday, Dec 12th. I'm coming from the LG-G3 also and the features I miss most are: tap on & Quick Memo+ screen capture. I'm too timid to root these days. Haven't rooted much since my Nexus S days and I'm feeling like a dinosaur now.
I'm coming from the Mega 6.3. Loved the phone....despised the locked bootloader!!!! But, after the Mega, I just couldn't go back to a smaller screen!!!???

From the Nexus 5<- Oneplus One
Coming from ole reliable, Galaxy Nexus.
Coming from moto x 2013, the Google now voice processes much faster, but the wake with voice from sleep seems more consistent on the moto x. Sometimes it just takes awhile for the nexus 6 to wake.

Lollipop 5.1.1 is coming. Could it be true?

I've lost all hope for a lollipop upgrade for my Maxx, but saw this today:
Source: http://www.vcpost.com/articles/8958...rola-droid-turbo-maxx-ultra.htm#ixzz3lMb8jQg9
September 9, 2015
Android Lollipop's latest software version 5.1.1 is confirmed coming very soon to Motorola devices, including DROID Turbo, DROID Maxx, DROID Ultra, DROID Mini, and Moto Maxx. The final Lollipop update will bring new features, enhancements and security patches.
Motorola already reported previously a series of rollout schedules revealing which devices will get first the Lollipop update. As reported, there are a total of 17 smartphones Motorola is considering to update with the new Android Lollipop software, including DROID Turbo, DROID Maxx, DROID Ultra, DROID Mini, & Moto Maxx.
Aside from these devices, Motorola also considers 2014 Moto E, 2013 Moto E, 2014 Moto E with 4G LTE, 2015 Moto X, 2014 Moto X, Moto X Pro, 2013 Moto G, and 2014 Moto G. Soon to be released Moto X Style and Moto X Play are expected to run on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop out of the box.
The final Lollipop update will bring changes and bug fixes such as an improved Material design, supports for Android Pay, USB-Type, and fingerprint sensor. It will also feature new device switch, device sync and some other enhancements.
In Motorola's support page, a news report underscored that beginning August 10 security patches for the Stagefright threat were released and take on with the devices' software before 5.1.1 Lollipop even releases. However, other bug fixes will also be released for the upcoming update.
The final version of Lollipop will bring improvements in icons, home launcher, Material Design, and power management.
Changing icon size in home launcher settings is enabled.
Pressing up and down volume bars will bring the graphic up. Tapping the button on the right expands the volume menu.
Tapping the icon on the left side twice silences the phone.
New icons for the settings menu.
To check the update, just head over to Settings > About phone > System update > Check for updates.
DROID Turbo, DROID Maxx, DROID Ultra, DROID Mini, & Moto Maxx units under major mobile carriers AT&T, Verizon Wireless, T-Mobile, Sprint and US Cellular currently run the Android 4.4.4 KitKat.
I hope you're right, but deep down I think is just wishful thinking

I'm sure it'll happen, but for those of us with locked devices it means (more than likely based on past history) that if we do upgrade to Lollipop we'll never be able to downgrade back to KitKat and honestly I find KitKat to be nearly perfect for my particular methods of using my smartphone. It's fast, lean, it gets the job done, obviously mine is rooted nowadays and I have some stuff tweaked out with Gravity Box that makes it a pleasure to use unlike so many other smartphones out there and even ones that I've owned and liked.
It's good enough as it is, at least for me.

I'm with you on that. Plus, I plan to pick up a Moto X Pure in the coming weeks or so, so don't really care anymore.

make sure those OTA updates are turned off. i mean, just until the bugs get worked out.
I'm running exodus rom 5.1.1 and it kicks stock kk ass. Very smooth the only thing I miss is the ability to use touchless control when screen is off. But it's not a deal breaker.
sent from "my kungfu is stronger then yours" XT1080
Yeah, touchless control is cool but I only go, "OK Google Now" to mess with it. Never actually had a time where I used it for anything meaningful. I hope it wasn't the touchless control that held up the official release of LP.
These people on the website posts these thing but they don't even know were they go the info from. If this were the case he would post the announcer of whos stating this info. But I believe it !!! can't wait either and will the update brick our phones if we are rooted?? Will we have to use SU app to full unroot ? Don't know what to do when it's here ?
I already have my pure and the Maxx is now my backup device.

It will be nice.. but no any official news here -https://forums.motorola.com/posts/19343d1335
Congrats on the pure. 5.1.1 is great isn't it?

Hate to say this, but the article is fake.
1) All major carriers?! T-Mobile, Sprint, AT&T?!!! They didn't release any Droids; only Verizon had that lineup.
2) If us XT1060 users didn't get 5.1.1 YET, how the **** would you guys get it.
Okay, I was quick to dismiss this too until I saw this: http://www.droid-life.com/2015/09/12/moto-x-lollipop-1st-gen-verizon/
Aren't the internals of the first gen Moto X and the Droids nearly identical?

Soaks out yet? Moto X 1st gen and ultra maxx are basically the same phone, but Maxx the better 5.1.1 is approved for the xt1060

I'm running VZW 5.1.1 on my Moto X DE and I like it. Can't wait for them to release it for the Maxx. I rooted the phone long enough to modify build.prop to turn off tether provisioning and then unrooted so I can get Android Pay working. The wave to wake is not working though unfortunately.
Sent from my XT1060 using Tapatalk
Correction to the above post, it is LP 5.1 not 5.1.1, got so used to typing that running the Exodus ROM on the Maxx, just flowed right out. Anyway, the Moto X has been running great with it, battery drain doesn't seem to be any worse than KitKat but I'm quickly getting bored of the Moto X. This puppy is going back to being the backup phone. Motorola neutered LP, can't find Smart Lock anywhere, the wave over sensor to wake is not there. The positive is Moto app, voice control, etc. Will revisit again when it comes to the Maxx but for now, I rather play with the Maxx running Exodus than the Moto X running VZW LP 5.1.

So finally vzw moto x got lollipop update
What other devices are remaining for lollipop..
I think driod 2013 series will be last in the list.

ROMS?

Is anyone actively developing for the Turbo 2? I have the Moto X Pure now and just ordered the Turbo 2, but it looks like there aren't any ROMS available. Just trying to figure out if I should return the Turbo 2 when it arrives.
Sent from my XT1575 using XDA-Developers mobile app
Only this ROM is currently being developed: http://forum.xda-developers.com/droid-turbo-2/development/rom-cm-12-1-kinzie-t3319189
The developers have said that they don't have much time at the moment..
If you want to Root and ROM you bought the wrong phone.
You didn't think to check that out before you bought it?
Good ROMS are only available for old hardware. You just can't have it all! LOL

Why would anyone build a rom for a locked phone it could never be used on.
those on x force would be disappointed.
