I noticed some apps will set off the LED light and others will not. Is there a way to choose which set off the LED and which don't?
Without a third party app like lightflow, it is up to the individual app's developer to support it, which you will usually find in the App's notification settings (although not all apps will provide an interface for it).

So my notification light isn't working for emails and Google voice. It works for texts and other things. I tried light flow and that didn't work at all, even after unchecking everything in settings (I would buy the full version to get voice support if I could get the rest to work, test mode doesn't even work). I have searched around and can't find out anything.
I use Light Manager. You have to uncheck the system email led notification. Settings Display->Click on the Words "Notification light" brings up all the system Led options. . Any other Apps , disable their Led notifications individually. Gmail is an issue on this phone. The Gmail App doesn't have a separate Led option. It's either notification on or off. If you leave on Light Manager can't change the color on this phone like it does on a Samsung. If you turn notifications off, you get your custom color, but not status bar notification. Light Manager continues to flash your custom color until you open Gmail. That might work if you don't mind missing Status bar previews . As far as Light Flow, I haven't found a way to make it work on this phone. The developer says people are having some success, but didn't know how. There's a section about LG Led's not playing so well in the app description.
Yeah i am less worried about custom colors, at least want the notification light to come on, which it doesn't for either Google voice or Gmail, and that's with the stock notification or light flow.
I have read tons of people saying light flow works perfect on this phone. I'll try light manager then, see if that works.
I updated Lollipop 5.0 recently. Everything works fine. Except for the notification lights...there is only one colour for all apps.
As far as I remember 4.4 had a menue, where I was able to put a specific colour for different apps. For example green for whatsapp or blue for SMS or red for missed calls etc.
I don't see these settings anymore. There is only one blue light notification for all apps.
I installed a third-party app, which is not much reliable. Anyone knows where the settings are...or do I have to wait for Lollipop 5.1?
You can enable and disable LEDs for certain system tasks, like charging, but to change colour for specific apps, the app would need to support that feature, such as WhatsApp - you can find that setting in
WhatsApp Settings > Notifications > Light 'colour'
EDIT - Try this

I got a 6P a few days ago, after getting a Galaxy Tab S2 a few weeks ago. These are my first Android devices and I'm still figuring things out.
One of the things that I'm kinda frustrated about is notifications. I'm used to iOS where I can control all notification settings for all apps in one spot (banners, sounds, lock screen, notification center, etc). Unless I'm missing something, it seems like Android notifications are controlled individually in each app, and the granularity of control you have over what type of notifications it produces is at the mercy of whatever settings the developer decided to implement. Is this an accurate assessment? And yes I'm aware of the Notifications area in Settings that allowed to control peeking and sensitivity.
Specifically, I have an app (Flickr) that I want to get lock screen notifications for, but it makes a sound for each notification - which I absolutely do not want. There is only one setting in the app - Notifications enabled or disabled. Is there somewhere else I can go to configure it to retain a lock screen notification but disable sound? Or am I just stuck with whatever the app allows me to do?
You are correct. And feel on the app you may find you have no control over the type and frequency of those alerts.
Hi! I was wondering, is there any way to turn off the sound on notifications for all apps (like Facebook, Instagram, YouTube etc) but still have the phone ring when someone calls me? I have either WiFi or data on all the time, and I get lots of notifications that aren't that urgent. I would like those to vibrate, but have the phone ring, since usually calls are more important than a YouTube video notification, for example. I couldn't find any way to do so in the settings nor did I find a third party app to help with my request. Any advice would be much appreciated
I would say that the most easy way is to create a sound file with total silence and use it as the default notification sound. Some apps have separate notification settings, you might need to disable sound (or select the same "silent sound") in the app itself.
If you want more customization options, autonotification app (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.joaomgcd.autonotification&hl=en) is your friend
If you just long press it in the notification bar when it arrives you can set up exactly the type of notification you want from that app, it does not take log and as time goes by you get less and less, some you might want a special sound others vibrate, some show in status bar others not, its custom for each app.
In the settings, the phone allows you to "customize LED color" and does in fact allow you to set custom colors for charging and a default notification color. But that's the extent of it, there is "per app notification", but that just lets you define which apps can trigger the LED for incoming notifications. I was wondering if there was a way (non-root) to fully customize the LED color.
Second question. My old phones (G5 Plus and LG G3) had distinct vibration patterns for notifications, and I guess I'm kind of used to them after having those phones for so long. So I was wondering if there was a way to have custom vibration patterns for apps.
Thanks in advance
