I've had nova prime for years. I signed up for beta test. Hands down one of the best launchers out there. So many options to make it the way you want it.

Can't stand Trebuchet, so this is the one I use.

I have had nova prime for a while. I rarely use it. I like simple launchers. I use Google now launcher. If I'm on my launcher I'm checking the time or launching an app. I also try to only have one page with all my apps in folders. I prefer simplicity for my launchers. Thanks for showing deals btw!

I'm sure this has come up before but when your looking for an opinion its not a simple search, its 90% of the net. I have not gone cm9 yet but I'm preparing. I'm looking at launchers. Comes with trebochet, I hear great things about nova. I'm a huge launcher pro fan but feel obligated to leave it in favor ofan ics launcher otherwise I might as well stay on GB. I don't think launcher pro will ever be updated again. Suggestions?

<del>Nova pro</del> <ins>Apex</ins> is totally worth the 0 bucks.
Amazing launcher (and its free, which just happens to be my favorite color)

I saw video on Nova but it made no mention of widgets

Try Trebuchet for a bit then try Nova (free fr mkt) + compare w/ launcher pro, ADW ex.......if you like Nova, the paid app, as suggested is well worth the $.

Like I said my only concern with launcher pro is that it will feel like I never left Gb. Defeats the purpose of going to ics

Currently all ICS launchers are essentially the same thing but started with different aspects of the overall goal, they're going to all soon be exactly alike. Nova currently is like what ADW would be like if it were on ICS, Apex is in a sense like LP if Fede were to ever update it, though I think hope for that is gone. And Trebuchet is basically stock or the closest thing to it. When going on comparisons.
That is the best explantion I have heard. That alone will make me try apex first as I am a paying member of launcher pro

Just know that my comparisons were in terms of how they feel when running them, currently none of these apps have their own launcher specific widgets afaik. But Android Pro Widgets should help with that side of the coin.
I've just felt the launcher pro feels so smoth and adw always seemed to have micro studdering to me
Sent from my SPH-D700 using xda premium
you can try them all but you'll quickly find out that apex is the best
it's like nova pro except it's free. the gestures and scroll effects in nova prime are already in free apex. everything else is very similar between the 2. both are very clean and fast. apex is also the better tablet launcher.

So here is what I did. Took myb kindle fire. Put the broke ass version of ics on there. It works but its no where near as smooth. Loaded all the browsers. I think I agree apex is the best right now. Non of them scrolled as smooth as launcher pro but I consider ics on the kindle to be closer pre alpha

Thanks. I'm liking it. They just need to fix preview for seven home screens. The center row goes off center and partly off the screen.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using Tapatalk
I dunno, I prefer Nova Prime... they seem just about the same though...
I'm having trouble with window animations. When I apply an animation of messes up the entire homescreen. When I try to scroll, the screens get stuck mid animation. I've tried closing ADW and restarting but it doesn't help. I also tried rebooting my device and that didn't help either. Sometimes there will be nothing on the screen at all, but I can ghost click where I know my apps are and it will open the designated app. I find this to be very strange and would appreciate any input. I'm giving thanks away like candy! I really enjoy this launchers abilities and would hate to have to switch.

i use ADW EX on my Inc2 and now use Nova Prime for the N7. functions very similar, there's some ADW in Nova, so i feel comfortable with it.
ADW is in development... they only upgrade when a new Android revision hits and then leave it...they updated when ICS came...and will again soon for Jellybean.
Other great launchers are Apex (my current)...or you could go radical with SPB 3D Shell

I use Apex Launcher. Great experience and customization.
Just wondering what launcher you guys use/what works best with the RAZR m? I've always used go launcher (kind of getting sick of it) but I'm hearing that nova works well with android 4.0 + . What are your thoughts/opinions? Thanks

Apex.
Nova and Apex seem to be the launchers of choice these days. I've used both and slightly prefer Nova, but I couldn't really tell you why. Both are great.

I like to keep it real simple. Nothing on home screen but 10 icons on dock. Just switched to Nova from go launcher and wow its smooth and fast. Love it

I was using nova but decided to go back to the stock launcher after playing around with it. I figured out how to remove the Google bar and then added some custom dock icons. Add all that with the circles widget and i am very happy with Blur.
I noticed that there's gestures included in the free version of apex. Pretty legit.

The launcher is silky smooth but the phone runs exactly the same on nexus 4
On the Int s3 with 1gb ram though yes apps launched faster and the phone performed better as nova uses far less ram than touch wiz and you can lock the launcher in memory for fewer redraws on low ram devices.

I've always been a fan of apex launcher. Is there any reason to pick one over the other? I like Apex's ability to make the status bar transparent and auto hide plus tablet mode with hidden dock.
Themer, Nova, apex, tsf shell, spb shell.

I use Action Launcher for it's nice static "action menu" on the home screen and also a built in one tap search button and side slide menu for alphabetical app list(no app drawer needed)

I like Nova since it comes with the AOSP icon set and easy to change any ones you dont like, close enough to vanilla launcher for me
I like smart launcher. Very simple and organized. Looks great in tablet mode on PA ROM.

Go launcher EX for me, tons of themes.
I use TSf. After using nova, apex, and a variety of others along the way. This is best to me. Costly at $15. But it is great. No more grid pattern. No more 4x4 or whatever. It's free form like a desktop on a computer. Place icons and widgets wherever you want. Stack em on top of each other if you want. Doesn't matter. No limitation on placement. It's great.

I just got the full version of apex and love it. I'm in to theming and tablet mode looks awesome and goes along quite nicely with themed search bars.

Apex for me. I like being able to customize grid size and folder icons. It's also compact and fast.
Just curious, what launcher do you prefer? The stock one or another one?
This regarding speed and performance.
Thanks.

To me the stock launcher with stock keyboard ran a little sluggish to me. I went and installed nova prime and stock keyboard slugishness went away.
I'm hoping LG would polish some of bugs on their launcher to improve some performance as I kind of liking stock launcher.
Meanwhile I'm sticking to nova launcher.

Info
NOVA Launcher on all of my phones
Nova Prime here. Wasn't happy with the default launcher.
I have been using Apex for a couple of years now (on mulitple devices, of course) and haven't had any issues. Seems to run smoothly enough with the VS986 variant.
I just tried using nova prime but when I go to use the stock messaging app it says it isn't installed. Any thoughts? VS986
I have a VS986 as well and apparently, when you agree to start using the message+ app, it ignores the stock one and pretends it isn't installed. I'm not 100% positive of that, but that seems to be the case with mine.
I use Nova prime for all of my devices as well as SwiftKey! They are super fast on the G4 and allow the amount of customising I need.
I found the stock one was OK, but Nova has much more configuration options, and is a little faster, so I'm using Nova Prime.
Today I'm using the stock launcher. It's OK for now, but I like Next Launcher. I see many here uses Nova, so I'm going to give it a try.

Go to the app settings and clear that particular app's cache. And also restore/import apps do crash on some apps. So might want to reset the nova launcher settings of everything else fails.

I would try going into the app drawer and see if it works there... it could just be an icon on the desktop that doesn't know where or what the official name of the apk is. Then I would try the other suggestion that someone else posted before me.
