FlipBoard watermark on stock lollipop rom. help! - Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

ok so i have a stock lollipop rom running on s5 g900f.
it comes with the usual bloatware. the thing that bothers me is this: i have a watermark with the "flipboard" logo on my screen
you can always see it behind whatever im viewing. even when in camera mode!
any help on how to get rid of it? i tried to disable flipboard but that didnt help.
thanks

Sounds like screen burn-in
Take a screenshot, copy it to the PC, and view it on the PC, if the watermark is not there, it's burned into your screen more than likely
Nothing you can do apart from shout at whoever left flipboard open 24/7 on full brightness

hi, i've done it, and the screenshot is without the watermark.
i just cant post the link here because im a new user (spam protection)
so i cant fix it?

Just post it with hxxp instead of http
Doesn't sound like you can fix it no, it's not a watermark, it's what's called burn-in, which is what happens to these type of screens if the same image is left open on them for long periods of time
A similar reason screensavers were invented years ago

It happens with AMOLED screens, particularly with Samsung devices and its a physical/hardware issue so not much you can do other than try the AMOLED Burn-in Fixer from Play Store.

Picture resize...

hi guys, when i goto crop my pics, they crop fine, but im left with a tiny picture..
how do i resize the pic to full screen...
this is one of the biggest problems about the x10,i have loads of pictures but most come out all small or fuzzy using the crop, why se didnt just allow full screen wallpaper is beyond me,however there are a few apps in the store that allows full screen wallpapers however must force close a lot and piece of advice dont use justpics it freezes the phone completely i learned it the hard way,if you find a better way to use full pics as wallpaper please let me know thanks
Bloody JOKING...
Yeah it seems there's some seriously dumbass software issues with the wallpaper option on the X10.
It seems there is no straight forward to way to simply select picture (either one you've take or one upload from cpu/bluetooth) and set the whole/full image as phone's background.
Cropping is forced and as far as i can tell MAX image is 2 THIRDS OF SCREEN!!

[Q] Broken icon background transparency (4.2.2)

I have this issue for a long time by now. I thought it is just the Play Store but no, I noticed it in the facebook messenger too.
Icons and smileys has black background, and in messenger when I use the bubble head thingy, smiley's background is transparent, you can actually see the things behind it, like my home screen wallpaper.
I googled it, but no fix for it, even updated the Play Store. Factory reset did not help. I even replaced the ROM with a new one, but this problem appeared again. (4.2.2, root) I had this problem before the root acces too. I really don't know what to do.
And other forum peeps said the bug only appears on Mediatek devices...
Notice the icons in the Store, and in the Messenger (black background and home screen)
It happens to me too. Its used too be soooo annoying, but I just got used to it. But I still want a fix.
It happens on my phone too and I have no idea why or how to solve it.
I have a Mediatek based phone.

What launcher are you using? Also, can you post a screenshot?

Try holding down on the icons and moving them. If you can, remove them from the screen and re add them. If not, try disabling any xposed modules (if you have any that could effect the home screen) and look at it again. I don't personally use the touchwiz launcher and this never happened to me, so these are just guesses. Also, I noticed you have a strange colored Google app in your bottom bar. Did you do anything to the icon, and if so did you possibly break other icons while doing it?

I did factory reset my phone and still see these , is there any software to fix that or this is a hardware issue .
is this called a burn-in issue or it is called some thing else .
thanks for replying .
Are those applications actually there software wise? If not, then it would be a burn-in, where the screen has the images "burned in" and can't be removed. If they are there you could try flashing a stock tar using Odin for whatever build you want.

yes , they are software wise and if you look very good in the pic you can notice the whatsapp shadow on the screen , also I had flashed the stock.tar odin rom many times and they are still there , if this case is a burn-in issue what software would you suggest to fix because I tried all the softwares on the playstore and they didn't help .
thanks

The only other thing I can suggest is to take your phone to Verizon and see what they can do. They might have to replace it.
having same issue in MotoG3
I got this phone(MotoG3) 15 days back, it worked fine for a few days and suddenly I noticed that a "Whats app Shadow" is coming on my home-screen, it was hardly noticeable at first but then it became darker and darker, I replaced the phone thinking it might be a software issue, and got the same handset today itself, it worked fine but again as I installed whats app the same shadow problem appeared, I uninstalled it and it started to work properly. Am not sure where is the problem, so please help me out.
About the shadow issue:
The home screen of whats app appears in my wallpaper and also above all the other apps, a transparent shadow kinda thingy, I hope you people got what am trying to say.
Thank You
I also have the same issue on my redmi note 8 but in my phone i doesn't shows the shadow of the icon but but the shadow off appa inside when I use anh app
I have the same issue on my Pixel; the shadow apps aren't directly on my home screen, but when apps are opened. Perhaps due to Google system.

[Question] graphical glitch? galaxy s5 verizon 900v

Hi- this screen never appeared before and now it does -.- tried wiping factory resetting and this image wont go away from my homescreen. Idk what happened please help looked everywhere of how to remove this but no one has had this issue. This never appeared on stock until after i unlocked my bootloader and installed cm. Tried to use the repair assistant and its still there.
edit: idk why it does not show in my screenshots. here are some photos taken from my iphone... hard to show but there is a white line that is in the background of my homescreen. Shows an sms icon slightly transparent. Annoying **** to look at when I take pics on snapchat. As you can in google playstore and the snapchat photo a SMS icon appears behind the mic in play store and under the switch to facecam icon in snapchat. Does anyone know a fix??
I still have no idea what you are talking about.

lol. ok before on my screen it will be normal fine no graphical errors no visual glitches. pictures wont show it for some reason but if you had my phone in my hand it would show up as SMS icon at the top of my screen like right below the navi bar. Shows up in camera and on my snapchat. Never happened till now. Idk if my screen got messed up or if its the constant switching of roms etc that gave me that glitch. its like a white line that separates the navibar and the rest of the screen at the bottom shows a menu bar on the left corner and some icons. its very transparent under the homescreen display like if the stock rom overlapped
like it shows a small phone screen is under the home screen. in the background- get me?
It's screen burn in. It happens with amoled screens if they are left on a static image too long. You can try some burn in fix tools in the play store. That's why you don't see it in your screen shots it's a hardware problem.

thank you! do you recommend any that would work?

Video , Photos and media quality looks washed out.

I came from an S7 EDGE and I just got my OP5 and there's something I hate about my new phone. Every photos videos on YouTube, Reddit , internet in general looks washed out. The colors are good but when you pay attention, you can see the same artefacts you see on a highly compressed video/photo. In other words, the screen looks like it's not even a 8 bit color panel. Do you guys know a solution about this? I never saw this problem on any phone ( I'm a cellphone seller in Canada ), not even on my S7 EDGE, Alcatel IDOL 3, Nexus 5
Maybe it's because it's pentile or something
You might want to change the screen calibration method under settings / display and see if that helps at all.
Unfortunately the problem is still existent. Look at the uploaded screenshot with your phone The colors on the dialer supposed to be gradient but it's not. That my problem .

The dialer looks lighter at the top and darker at the bottom--are you saying there isn't enough transition between the two or that the colors in the screenshot are inaccurate? You might want to do a search for gradient android dialers (which should have screenshots) to verify the problem is with the phone rather than with the specific app you are using. All of the gradient screenshots I pulled up looked fine on my phone but the color changes were a lot more subtle than the one you provided. It's possible you have a bad display or that it's calibrated incorrectly for some reason. I've never noticed any problems with the colors on my OP5 and never read a complaint similar to yours.
You might want to make sure Night Mode or Reading Mode aren't on in settings because both would affect the colors.
Also make sure ambient display is off to verify that isn't doing anything screwy.
Have you rooted your phone or installed a custom kernel or anything like that? Do the colors look exactly the same when you boot into safe mode?
I see the banding in the dialer (the background where the dialpad is). Given that it's a screenshot though, that part is likely to be how OnePlus designed the dialer app (screen issues wouldn't show up in a screenshot).
