Hi everyone,
recently I change my phone to OP2. Everytime I sent an sms to a friend, but when I received the replied is shows under a new message and I have noticed the message I sent using didn't have the international prefix but the replied message has the prefix
PS: I live in Australia, so the prefix is +61, my phone is on latest firmware oxygent OS 2.1.2
eg:
The phone number I sent message to is 0416123456
The message I received back from that same number is showing as +61416123456
therefore I have one dialog box showing my original message and another dialog box showing the replied message.
Just wondering is there an option that I can disable the +61 prefix???? Thanks!!!

Maybe it's just me with the problem, but when someone text messages me, and I press on the Reply icon, the reply won't go through once I send it. I manually have to go through my phonebook, find the person, and choose to text message them from there.
Anyone else having this problem?
This has happened to me with previous phones, I do not think it is a problem with the Magician...
The problem occurred on my SE P900 because the person who sent the SMS had a setting on their phone "Reply via same Message Centre" in their SMS settings. Seems some phones do not respect this setting (and reply using the default message centre number) meaning the text message is sent sucessfully... however, some phones (the P900 being one) do, and try to reply to the text using the SMS message centre number that the original text was sent via.
Now, this doesn't normally cause a problem, however, if you are on a network which has various message centre numbers (for contract, for pre-pay etc) then this is where the trouble can start.
O2 - UK is one of the offenders. They have a message centre number for contract users, and one for pre-pay users... however, for some unknown reason, they bar you from sending a text message via the other message centre... so, when my friend, with her Nokia 3410, on O2 pre-pay sent me a text, I couldn't reply to it, however, I could go in and make a new one and send it fine.
Ironically, I could reply to texts from other friends on completely different networks no problem, and I could reply to friends on O2 contract no problem!
Well, there's the theory... your situation might not be the exact same...
But anyway... the solution is to inform your friends to find the setting (in SMS settings) on their phone that looks like "Reply via same Message Centre" and set it to NO.
(Also note, Nokia 3410's sometimes do not have this setting available on them! I think the setting is stored on the SIM card, maybe, so you'd probably have to switch the SIM to another phone, change the setting, and switch it back.)
works for me if i delete all but the phone number in the "To" field after i choose "reply"

Click to collapse
1. Delete all record of the problem number that will not except text messages.
Including contact, favorites, call log, text log...
2. send a text message to the phone number manually make sure to include the area code, no 1 needed.
3. click the sms button on your home screen, then select the number you just sent the message to and create a new contact from there.
4. Done!!
Hey guys,
I'm having some issues here. When receiving sms, the senders number doesn't always appear. Instead, it shows the first word of the SMS as the sender.
This happens when the length of sender number is less then 5 digits e.g. if you receive a text "test message" from 224 or 2244 then instead of showing 224 or 2244 as sender's number, it will show "test". I don't know what these kind of number's are called in other countries but we call it SHORTCODE. I've also heard people calling it SNO. Normally these messages are sent from the mobile operators or VAS providers.
No matter what I do, I can't see the sender number. I've tried using Handcent and ChompSMS. I've checked the message details etc but nothing helped. I've even tried using different ROM's. Currently I'm using Cyanogen's latest ROM.
I hope someone out there knows how to solve this problem and will help me as well Thanks in advance.
Guys! Has anyone else faced this problem? Looking forward to your replies...
I haven't rooted but when I used to have problems with custom builds on my g1 I would usually just wipe and flash...that fixed my problems almost every time
I had this problem even in the stock ROM. It's not specific to custom ROM.
just got a milestone 2, im trying to reply to an sms and it says "a valid address is required to send this message" if i select the contact and start a fresh thread it will send fine, when they reply the box where i type a new message is greyed out and says the above. is it something obvious ive missed? the number must be fine because i sent them a message in the first place lol.
I have a stock note 3 and today by accident I sent "stop" to the wrong person via (text) message and then blocked the number.... I cant figure out how to unblock them (everytime I now try to send them a message I get "failed"), but evryone else is OK. Thanks
