unable to overclock to up to 2649MHz? - Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Yeah, although my kernel does support 3072MHz, but I'm unable to set it to up to 2649MHz?
I'm using n910f stock Rom, android 5.1, emotion Kernel.
I'd appreciate any help.

Use overclocking root apps like "Set CPU". You will get it on the play store. With that u can set ur processor's clock rate minimum/maximum. If that doesn't work then try using a kernel thats mentioned in snapdragon section and then try using that overclocking app. Overclocking is only possible if u have installed a kernel that supports it and also the phone has to be rooted.

(Q) How do you set undervolting in custom kernel?

Folks,
I have searched this site as well as the net and I keep getting links to install custom kernels, not how to set undervolting. I have the overcome kernel installed. Can someone give me some guidance?

This is the thread I followed. It also has OC instructions, but I am sure you can just use the UV setting if you like.
The UV app is called voltage control. It's free and in the market.
Also, I have the same kernel/rom as you, and I followed all the settings in that thread (OC/UV). My tab is working nicely those settings.

Are you sure the kernel you're using is Pershoot's?
go to here and try those kernels(theyre also from Pershoot):
https://sites.google.com/site/arashtarafar/
the downloads section is in the bottom of the site.
make sure that you doanload the corresponding kernel(Honeycomb or Ice cream sandwich),then use Setcpu for overclocking.
I do not recommend overclocking.for extra(sufficient)speed you can use System panel(at this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1788535)

[Q] OverClock Iconia A500 permanently

Here's a question.
and yes, I did read most of the A500 stuff before posting this.
I currently have CyanogenMod V 10.2, and a 4.2.2 kernel
Here's my question. I see in the recovery rom, an option to overclock.
how can I do this from inside the normal kernel? is there an option I just haven't seen?
I understand it needs to be be done inside the rom, but seriously, haven't seen any discussion on how to get this running on a regular basis.
thanks in advance

Why not make it easy, download and install SetCpu or any one of the multitude of OC apps on the market, and just set your OC/UV from there? You can select "set at boot" and it will retain your selections in the event of a re-boot.
Not all kernels are capable of OC/UV. This is all dependant on if the dev compiled the kernel with the correct frequency and voltage tables to allow this.
The fact that the CWM recovery has options, has 0 impact if the OC can be done. The OC option is in every recent CWM recovery version regardless of kernel being installed.
So my advice, download and install an OC app from play store, and check if your kernel supports it.
One more bit of advice... do not select "set at boot" until you have checked out your OC/UV settings.

Thank you very much. dumb Xnix person that I am, didn't think to check if there were any apps like that. will investigate.

There are a ton of free apps. System Tuner, NoThrills, PimpmyCPU, etc. Personally, I like SetCpu (free version here at XDA, use search), and System Tuner.

Root your phone. Install app like "Kernel auditor" and underclock. If u need full control over ur phone, try unlocking bootloader and then underclock.

At a guess if say you need to write a new custom kernel that allows you to enable all cores permanently and flash that (while making sure it still works with LOS). Root alone doesn't always help of the options aren't there, I used to have a phone that used a cyanogenmod port which had control over cores integrated but it never worked properly because (those who knew about these things said) it wasn't properly implemented in the kernel.

Is there a way to decompile the kernel myself? Or modify with root manually?

It should be possible, [email protected] put instructions on the J320FN Lineage OS thread on how to change the boot.img (including tools for doing so) and you can work on the kernel using dsixda's android kitchen thread linked below may go some way to getting you started, obviously if you're using Linux you can use other guides to get much better functionality.
