The OTA beta version was posted on XDA earlier today and removed by XDA. I am sure there are legal reasons they can't host a thread with a link to the files.
Plenty of us still have the file and may share info about it. The OTA patches exploits to root methods currently known. Join the irc and help us crack the root. Id be happy to share any file i have for you to use.

hopefully this won't get pulled down too
MOD EDIT: Pulled down.
You might as well take it down. It's against forum rules i believe.

Is this file tied to an IMEI? Or is the update file for any phone?
unfortunate
We don't know yet if its IMEI or sig checking I think I read that it is running checks against sigs. Also I think they only used imei to push the OTA to the phones not to lock that particular update to that particular phone

Sorry for the newbie question, but how do I use this update?
rename the zip to update.zip and put it in the root directory of your sd card, then boot into recovery and load it. If it fails the check you may need to reflash the original sbf first.
what do you mean rename the zip? are you referring to the file name or are you referring to a specific file? and also do we need to extract the file?
In the accompanying message it said something along the lines of 'who can use this uppate/ any atrix.'

need help. did alll the steps corectly, then it says finding update package, opening update package, verifying update package, failed to read footer from /sdcard/update.zip (is a directory) signature verification failed, installation aborted. am i doing something wrong?
Has anyone tried putting the update file into their cache along with the ctc or cbc (don't remember what the file ext is) and tried hitting the update button in the phone to see if it recgonizes the update as though it actually came OTA?

Any known new bugs as of this update?
I am referring to the .zip file of the update that is available in the 3rd post.

As far as copying to the cache goes, I did not try that but renaming to update.zip and updating through recovery worked fine after I re-flashed to the stock sbf. It took a little bit longer to go through the initial boot process after the update than it did flashing an sbf file, but seems to be smoother overall so far, I only have about an hour on it though.

I've renamed the file to update.zip and have put it into the sdcard directory and then rebooted but have not noticed anything updating. I've also tried sdcard-ext directory. Can you explain a little as how you got this file to work? I am not rooted, and have not done any mods so I am on the original sbf.
Thanks for your help.

Place the file in the root of your sdcard ext them reboot in recovery mode and I believe it will either update or prompt for if you want to run update.zip from sdcard

When you reboot your phone hold the volume down button until you see the Fastboot text at the top of the phone, then hit the volume down button until you see it say Android Recovery, hit the volume up key to load into recovery, once you see the android guy and the triangle tap the lower right portion of the screen, from there you will have the recovery menu, at this point you can use volume up/down to select and then tap the ok at the bottom left

How do you reboot into recovery mode?
I'm thinking Moto is watching this forum very carefully to gauge the success of their root access lock-down efforts (I know I would). The only counter an open forum like this has is to delay posting of any new root access methods until after Moto's offical release of the ATRIX Update software. Time is on our side, not Moto's - their release process is long and expensive with little return in $$$. I know that devs are just starting to look at this, and a new root method is wishful thinking at this point, but just had to throw in my 2 cents.
Hey!
So i've just received the update, and as per instructions i rebooted to install the update. But after rebooting, clockwork recovery appeared with the options of NO, NO, NO, etc, Yes install unknown ZIP, NO, etc. Because i was doing two other things at the moment (and i'm a moron) i've clicked Cancel and rebooted.
So now i'm still on 4.2.2 and when i click on "Check for system update" in setup it says "Up to date"
Am i totally screwed with the OTA update? I'll punch myself in the face if i have to do the update manually and resetup everything on my device <.<''
Thanks!

With the file from my /cache folder CWM gives Status 7 - Installation aborted. (i've moved the file to my "SD card")
As far as i saw, that might pop up if the ROM is not well done, but that is the file that i got from Google
So... any ideas how shall i proceed?

If you don't want to do a manual update, you can either wait it out - the OTA will come back again eventually - or, you can take a look at system/cache and see the 4.3 update.zip, move it over to your root folder, then go into CWM recovery and install that.

I think it's because you are not using stock kernel. As far as i've gathered from reading here, there is no trouble with custom recovery in general (it seems that sometimes there are issues - mine for example), but otherwise you should be stock: Google's ROM + kernel. If i was in your situation, i would flash the original kernel (you can extract it from the 4.2.2 release image). I'm not sure about multirom, you should research that.
As for my issue, after sleeping on it i think that i'll just wipe and flash the whole 4.3 image. After that i'll setup everything again.
Turns out, that the applications i need to backup data from are not so much, and i figured out where they keep the data i'm interested in. Also i want to see if wiping will help my memory issues (almost full device = slow as hell device).

Hey,
Sorry saw that you did a clean re-install already.
I had the same problem as you. What I did was to flash TWRP (unlike CWM it allows you to ignore the verification error) and tried to take the update again. That still failed however, because I apparently had an edited debuggerd file (happens if you use the Stickmount app). I downloaded a stock one from this thread, replaced it in system/bin, and re-flashed 4.3. Finally worked.
I then re-rooted by flashing the latest SuperSU in TWRP.
Are you replacing the 'debuggerd' file within the 4.3 zip update? Or the file on the Nexus 7 before the 4.3 is flashed?
I've tried updating 4.3 using the OTA 4.3 zip & TWRP & my nexus 7 is currenly stuck the the 'X' boot logo.

Well for phones without external SD card like my Nexus 4 and Moto G, the memory for use to the user or connecting your phone to PC and modifying files like a USB drive is called a SD card here on XDA (I think), so don't worry about the terms. Hope its clear and hope this helps.

Before downloading the OTA from the below link, please take note:

2. You should read the whole OP of this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2639102

4. This ZIP is not flashable via TWRP/CWM/PhilZ...stock recovery is required.

Yes. Reference the "Returning to Stock" section of this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2603358. You have to download the whole firmware package for sprint, which sucks because you only need one file. After you have done what you need to do with TWRP/CWM, reboot your phone into the bootloader, then simply run
Code:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot reboot

I unlocked my bootloader and flashed SuperSU. I live life on the edge!
At the time of the upgrade, I had flashed stock recovery and unfrozen Sprint Zone. I had also completely removed Xposed (uninstalled modules, disabled Xposed, and flashed Xposed-disaper.zip). I still had other root apps installed when I took the upgrade (TitaniumBackup and ROM Toolbox Pro). I have verified that they still work post-upgrade without additional work on my end.
If someone gets a copy of the ota zip faster than i upload it please message me a copy of your link and i will update the original post with it.
Dang it! Where's the AT&T one! First to get the phone, last to get the update.

Cool. That is what I expected, and even if you lost root, you can just redo the custom recovery & SuperSU to get root back.

Just to confirm, this won't delete anything from the phone, just go back to stock recovery, correct?
Thanks for posting this just updated my phone

At the risk of sounding like a newbie, what are the steps to perform the update. I am coming from a Galaxy S4 and have only did OTA updates as they came. I just got this Moto X about 3 weeks ago during the $299 off contract price (couldn't resist). I would love to go ahead and do the update. My Moto X is stock, unrooted. Thanks

That, I know. I am asking about this file in the OP initial post, manually updating.

Correct. It will put you back on stock recovery and reboot your phone. Nothing in your /system or /sdcard will be touched. This is what I did to get back to stock recovery.

You need to have a completely stock system and the stock recovery installed. I manually flashed with super user still installed just fine but everything has to be completely stock straight out the box. To manually update you just download the zip in the OP.
1 boot into boot loader by holding volume down and power button
2 use volume key to scroll down to recovery press volume key up will put you into stock recovery with the red triangle.
3 to get to the menu screen in stock recovery you must hold volume key up then press power
4 choose to install from SD card and navigate to where the zip downloaded in this screen power button is used to select your choice. I moved the zip to the root of my SD but it usually will be found in downloads.
5 push power button to install ota manually. Be patient it will take a minute
I had it abort on me first try cause I forgot to change my fonts back to stock so be sure you are bone stock no tweaks or even V4A installed with STOCK RECOVERY.

That's OK with the apps from the play store and amazon just things like exposed modules and viper 4 android have to be uninstalled basically anything that modifies your system cannot be installed. I did have Super user installed when I applied the ota with no problems though

SuperSU or Superuser, and what version if SuperSU. Last time I checked, SuperSU installed another system file incase the daemon method needed to be used.

Awesome. thanks!
for those who are like me and haven't felt the need to root their phone or use a custom recovery, the process below worked to update an unlocked, un-rooted, stock AT&T moto x. this is probably available elswhere on the forms too.
- copy the zip into "download" on the internal storage
- boot into bootloader by holding volume down and power together
- at the bootloader screen, use volume down and scroll to "recovery", then press volume up to select it
- in recovery mode you will see "no command". hold volume up and press power to show the recovery menu
- use volume down to go to "apply update from sdcard" then press power to enter
- you should be at "choose a package to install", use the volume buttons to highlight "download/" and press power
- use the volume buttons to highlight the zip and press power
the update will start. it took about 5 minutes on my device. when it finishes, use volume keys to select "restart system" and press power. device will restart and you're done.
for unlocked bootloader we'd have to delete superuser to install this, correct?

No, you don't need to uninstall superuser. If you use xposed, make sure you uninstall the framework (no need to uninstall the modules).

I tied to flash via recovery, but the verification check didn't complete. the email.apk didn't match. I removed it when I updated to 4.4.
I flashed down to 4.2.2 from 4.4 and rerunning slap my moto because I am rooted, but no su binary. lol
For those who had issues taking the OTA. You have 2 options that I see.
Removing the verification lines from the updater script. Don't know if that will work or what it will do.
or
Reflashing to 4.2.2 via RSD Lite. The write protection is still 0. using slapmymoto again and updating via OTA to 4.4. You will lose all data. I used to titanium back up and stored my stuff to the my box drive.
I am installing 4.4.2 via recovery from the OTA i downloaded this morning and I don't have that stupid email.apk issue. The system update says i am up to date so I had to do this way.

Excuse my not knowing, but I just came to the forums here to peek around and see about this, since I'm on AT&T. If I uninstall the framework and take the update, what do I have to do to enable xposed after the update? Do I have to reinstall the framework every reboot?

Redownload the framework install app. Is what I did after I eventually got it to update to 4.4.2 lol

Additionally, you also want to ensure that your /system is not write protected. If your bootloader is not unlocked, /system partition will most likely be write protected, so XPosed will not work until you do a soft-reboot (from the installer app) every time you restart your phone.
I just figured that out hahaha
