I have two Nexus devices running 6.0; the 6P and a Nexus 7.
On the 7, if I am in Google image search, when I tap an image in search results to view it, there is a 3 dot menu at lower right to visit the site, open the image directly in Chrome, and some other options.
This missing in the 6P... which I found rather surprising. Any ideas as to why and/or how to restore it?

I'm new to tablets. I'm finding that images don't load on most websites, including Facebook, Netflix, You Tube, Comedy Central, even the App Shop (the screen shots don't load). Instead on most websites there's a little square with a question mark in every spot where an image should be.
This is the case whether I use the browser (large earth button pre-installed on the tablet) or the Apps like Facebook, Netflix and You Tube.
I'm new to all things mobile. Is there something I failed to install or activate to allow these web images to load? Many websites are almost useless without the images. No photos on Facebook... no Movie pictures on Netflix... no You Tube video images on You Tube.
I've tried switching between the option "PC" versus "Mobile" on the settings menu and this doesn't seem to make a difference. I don't really know what these options should do anyway.
This forum has been a lifesaver. Thanks for any expertise you can offer.
When you are in the browser, tap the options box in the top right corner, tap settings, tap advanced, check "load images".
Tap "thanks" if this cures your issue.
Still no images, ideas?
Hi, thanks for the tip about tapping Show Images in the settings menu, but I still get no images in most sites.
Do you? If you go to Amazon or Netflix or Facebook or You Tube from the browser button (or any other way for that matter) do you see the images, i.e. does the website look and function for you the way it's supposed to?
Thanks for coming to my aid, I am a newbie.
Do other computers on your network get images?
My laptop loads web images/pics but not my tablet...
Hi, thanks for asking. My laptop, as well as my husband's netbook, load images/pics on websites just fine, but not my new TPT.
Am I understanding that this is not a common problem? Do other Thinkpad Tablet users see websites just fine?
I get little squares with question marks every place an image should be on most websites...
Thanks for any advice.

Do you suspect the home firewall?
Yes, I just wanted to make sure there's not something along the network connection that is filtering the traffic. I have seen similar results on desktop web browsers when a utility like Peerblock is running and set to filter HTTP on that PC.
Do you have the flash player installed? Get it from the market. At least some of the blank frames will be filled in.
I have this nexus 10 with a big, glorious, high resolution screen and every Web page I open in the android chrome browser is zoomed in so that only about 80% of the page is visible. I have to double tap to zoom out every... single... time...
I realize that other browsers (such as boat browser) work well, but I can't do without the Google account sync features chrome has access to.
Opening the settings for android chrome results in an insultingly minimal number of options.
So, as the title says, how can I set the default zoom of android chrome so that all of the page is visible on load?

You can't. You can't even have it remember to request the desktop version of a particular website, as asked for in this bug report: http://crbug.com/146127. I complained about that issue and page zoom in comment #8 there and it looks like they might finally be getting around to working on persisting the desktop requests. I don't see a specific issue about remembering page zoom, so you may want to open a ticket for that. At the very least, logging in to their bug tracker and starring the relevant issues would signal to the devs that you care about Chrome remembering that you want the desktop version of a site.
Does anyone else have any input or a work around for this problem?

I just upgraded to the S4 triband. I was trying to activate the android device manager but when I go to the android device manager web page it does not locate my phone. The options such as "rename this device" and "locate device" are grayed out as well as the settings button in the top right corner.
It does show my phone (Galaxy S4) as I renamed it in the play store settings and "show in menu's" box is checked but on the device manager web page it only shows that the phone was "last online 7/9/14" (today's date).
I have tried factory resetting my phone, making sure that all of the GPS and location options in the phone are on and that "remotely locate this device" and "allow remote lock and erase are also checked in the google setting app.
Additionally I have also done a lot of google searches regarding this issue and followed several tutorials to clear data in the google play services, google play store and google services framework but all to no avail, I still cannot locate my phone or do anything on the android device manager web page.
Attached is a screen shot of what the web page looks like. Funny thing is I tried my old S3 and the Wife S3 and both gave me the same results.
Anyone else have this problem or have a fix for it?
With version 6 of the Shield Android TV, there is the updated Google Assistant.
It should allow (voice)control for smart devices like my Philips HUE lamps, but I fail setting it up
It seems that there is/was a menu-option in the Google Home App (for phone/tablet), named 'home automation' where one could link to smart devices (like HUE lights).
After setting it up on your phone or tablet it would become available (linked/detected) on the Shield also.
Alas, I do not get such menu on my phone/tablet and I am unsure why. Is it regio locked somehow or is it Google pushing their own Speaker hardware?
Some help please!
I just tried again and still nothing!
I may be wrong but I don't think the Shield will interface with the Hue on its own...I think you need Google Home in between.
The Google Home interfaces with the Hue Bridge, and the Assistant on the Shield (or any other devices) will route commands through GH to get to Hue.
There might be some changes in Android TV Oreo (right now 6.0 only really added the Assistant, but is still Marshmallow).

From what I learned searching the internet it is indeed like that. Not so long ago it was just a step to link the Hue through Google Home, but the option to go to those settings in the Home app (on phone or tablet) seems to have been removed, or at least for me.
I tried multiple devices. This is why I fear it is due to not owning those new Google Speaker thingies..
I asked on reddit also but somehow others have (had?) access to those settings.
Be need I can screenshot the lack-off

When I speak about google home, I am talking about the device, not the app (I guess it can be confusing!).
But I just read Google's page, and I seem to be wrong, no Google Home (speaker) needed for home control.
I have the google home app on an iPhone (unfortunately), and have access to the "Home control" menu from the hamburger at the top left. Selecting this will open the google assistant app, where I can see my GH, Shield, chromecast etc...Here I can tap + which gives me a long list of compatible devices, including Philips Hue.
What kind of phone are you using?
Excuse the late reply.
I tried multiple devices. Multiple android phones and my pixelc tablet.
The only thing I can think of is a region block (The Netherlands) that hides the menu for home control in the 'google home' software.
I want my startrek voice control for my Hue lamps, boo..
Hi everyone . Apologies if this question has been resolved before (and I've missed the answer) but as someone with limited technical knowledge I've been unable to sort a problem with my new fire 10 HD tablet that I modified using the wonderful Toolbox provided on this site.
Basically If I use Google search everything works fine except if I try to narrow the results to images only ....no results are ever shown .
If I open chrome and search for images through the browser I get a few results in an old fashioned very limited format ..perhaps 15 small images at the top of the results page.
The only way I have found to get the expected results page is to choose "desktop site " once I'm on the Google search page that comes up when selecting a new tab.
All is fine with bing and others and I have no similar issues with Google or chrome image results on another older android tablet.
If anyone can suggest a solution or an explanation it would be very much appreciated.
Many thanks for your help

Amazon WebView provider is too older, crappy and isn't fully updated. You can use Firefox browser from Google Play store to make it modern and newer appearance of Google search.
