Hi,
I have recently bought Motorola defy XT535 Indian version, after using for about a week, I have realized that the phone is not giving the full sound output when earphones are plugged-in, but when someone call/or I make call while music/video is playing ..the actual full sound comes back, and it goes back to same situation as soon as music is pause/stopped.
I have revisited all the settings, but could figure the reason, also looked through google and there is no solution.
I will be grateful if anyone could help on this.
If you can give us more info we can help you to sort it out

Have you got any solution?
Have you got any solution to this issue. I'm possessing a motorola defy xt 535 and music over the headphones seems to be average. When i'm listening to music and if i receive any call amidst listening to music and as soon as the call is over my music volume suddenly increases to double which actually becomes untolerable.
I tried with other music players as well on google play alongwith some volume control and volume lock options but nothing seems to be helpful.
Please share with me if you've any fix for this issue.

I also have the same problem. The sound is normaly very low, so everytime i need to call some fake number to volume up in the end of the call to turn to "normal" volume level.
Another thing I noted, not all headphones work ok with XT535. The original work ok, but every other the sound is very low and ethereal, looks like one channel are not connected.
i have recently bought nexus 4 .. a month back !
It was working fine but today as i was using the paranoid android rom out of a sudden the sound just disappeared. no ringtone no media no notification no sound at all
when i attend the call theres not a single sound.
what kind of problem am i experiencing ? is it a hardware ( speaker problem) or software?
PS: I have factory wiped and flashed 4.3 stock image from fresh and tried the recovery as well but nothing seems to work.
When i try to run mp3 file nothing hapens or google player says cannot play this file.
Not even getting the sound through headset !!
plz help

Hey fellas,
So, it appears that the problem is related to the device thinking that headphones are plugged in. I would assume it is some kind of hardware fault.
However, there is an easy way to work around it (took me days of despair to find it) - install the app "soundabout" from the app store (cant post a link because I do not have 10 posts yet) . Under the media audio setting you can route all media sound through the speakers, thereby bypassing the problem. You do not need the pro version, but if this program just saved you from buying a new device...
app does not require anything other than a one time install and setup, so no annoying icons or thelike. only problem i encountered is that switching to different accounts on the device somehow mutes the sound, and it requires a restart to get it back to working. If anyone encounters the same limitation, let me know (or better, find a fix for it )
Cheers,
pilfer
Since it took me forever to find this app myself, some tag words for google: no media sound on speakers, only notification sounds, alarm sounds only, no sound from videos, no sound from music
I have the verizon g2 and the bluetooth connects fine and all but sounds bad compaired to other phones even older ones. I guess im just an audiophile but it sounds very cracklie when a song get louder. I know i cant be the only one experiencing this but i have looked and looked and found nothing but great feedback about its sound. Has anyone else experienced this and maybe found a fix?

I see it more with talking on my car's BT than with audio streaming, but so far I am not that impressed with the quality. It works, but isn't all that great.

Yeah thats all im seeing also. But i hope it will change with an update
Using my Motorola Elite Sliver, Bluetooth sound has been just fine. Phone call clarity has been great; significantly better than my DNA.
Posted about this a while back on the Nexus 4 here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=44130362
It's -super- irritating, and I believe this is a bug in all recent android versions (after 4.1 I think) with the new bluetooth implementation. I was hoping we'd find a way to 'fix' it in a similar manner, but I have no experience developing for non-nexus devices. I'm glad someone else notices the crackle though, it's annoying to the point where I won't listen to audio over the G2's bluetooth anymore.
Just gonna wake this back up to see if anyone else has any ideas on what we can do here.... this issue blows on newer Android phones and we ought to be able to find a way to fix it ^^

I read through the thread you linked and it looks like you fixed the issue on stock Android ROMs. I have the AT&T D800 running CleanROM XE, also had the issue on stock G2 ROM.
I wanted to offer to test anything you came up with. I connect to a 2011 Hyundai daily and stream Pandora and XiiaLive.
Thanks in advance.
I ran into this as well, although I've only tried Soundcloud, Pandora and Google Music. Pandora is the only app in that list that has issues. Soundcloud and Google sound fine.

I actually found it sounds better on bluetooth than my old Rezound and my wife's DNA do. In wife's car, songs on bluetooth (any app) have an echo/hall effect. The G2 is the first phone that sounds normal with no echo. Plus, the song info is finally displaying properly on the screen. Just wish my car had bluetooth because then I wouldn't have to deal with the thumping sound I hear while plugged in via the aux/headphone jack and changing tracks. I have another thread here regarding the thumping noise.
Enable aptx. Bluetooth had been nice and clear for me even before doing so.

How do you do that? Is there a menu/switch for that?
Prop command in terminal emulator. Is around here on forum in another bt thread. Most variants aren't enabled out of the box. Hell, Verizon didn't even have the logo on the box.

Saw that thread. Figured that if the G2 was already set up for that, then you shouldn't have to go through superuser and ADB to make it work. I mean, if it is an advertised feature then it should be easier to activate. What am I missing here?
I went ahead and enabled aptx a few weeks ago to test it out... either my headunit doesn't support it or it doesn't seem to make much of a difference on my end as I still have the crackly highs as I did before. This was the same issue that I had on my Nexus 4 that I was able to fix by tweaking the sbc bitrate... I'm just not sure how to do that in the source code on this phone. (or if that's even possible here)
Could someone please link the thread to enable aptx? I am unable to find it or how to do it.
Or at least tell us here how to do it?
I am also getting the crackling over bluetooth, when plugged into an aux jack the sound is amazing, over bt not so much. Also track data is really wonky, it rarely works. When the track changes it shows the song info for a split second then says unknown. I've never had a problem with the track data in my car and this is the 4th device I have used in this car. This is a link I ran across for enabling aptx, don't know if it works I'm not rooted yet.

Same problem here, except my car stereo doesn't support aptx.

Just to pitch in -- I get the same crackling on music. Driving me nuts.
When I play music over my car stereo it's great. When I call using sync the person on the other side said it sounds like a whining noise for the entire call. The whining does fluctuate from moderate to extremely loud.

This sounds like a ground issue in your car maybe? Does it change pitch with engine rpm? Mine sounds like when your stereo is up too loud and the bass distorts, except it's only distorting for high's. Much more noticeable when listening to rock or something with a lot of cymbals. Rap/hip hop sounds fine (not really any high's there). Enabling aptx doesn't sound like a solution here, why would enabling a premium sound feature correct this when other devices I have used that don't have aptx sound better than my G2? Not trying to ridicule here just trying to keep the ball rolling. I really believe this is an issue with phone or bt antenna or something.
STILL NOT FIXED
I have rooted and unlocked my Axon 7 (A2017G) and edited the mixer_paths.xml file to make the audio output louder.
But there's a little problem (and I don't know if it's because of the mixer paths edit, I don't think so)
My top speaker sounds a lot more dull than my bottom speaker. My bottom speakers seem to be louder too.
How to check this? And are there more people experiencing this?
Thanks in advance.
Did not do anything to my A2017G, but I find that my top speaker is louder and "sparks" when near at full volume

Some say it's dust, but I don't know how. I haven't called with this phone much.
Bump. It's everywhere. Even on LineageOS, bottom speaker is almost twice as loud :/ It can't be dust.
BUMP
This problem is getting on my nerves. The bottom speaker is twice as loud and crispy as the top speaker, which sounds dull.
Anyone else had this and possibly fixed it?
Two questions
Did you try to reset your phone and test the speakers again?
Is there the same problem on YouTube and mp3 music files?

1. Yes I switched between roms to test modems and other stuff for ZTE.
2. Ofcourse. It's obviously the same on every output.
I guess it's just a hardware fault, but I thought maybe someone would have fix (clean it or something?)
Then I would say that this is an hardware problem indeed.
Having the same issue here, thought that other ROM will provide the fix but still zilch. Rooting the phone only meant the void of guarantee so not really good move there either.
I read somewhere online that usually bottom speaker is the one to go out first and that global version has the speakers a lot different then American and Chinese version). Any other possible fixes before replacing it? And where to find the replacement too?
Update: it should be software related since the sound in earphones has the same problem - only inverted. Which means there should be a tweak in binary or something?
I'm willing to pay to whoever makes this problem disappear. I'm beyond the point of helplessness here...
Fixed!
Fixed the issue finally! ??
Go to:
- settings
- advanced settings
- accessibility
- mono speaker output.
For the last trick to work, just try to disable it, then enable it and restart the device. Disable it again when device rebooted. Worked as a charm for me! So I'll be saving me some money ???

Omg! This problem was bugging me since day 1, but could not find any solution to this... But I've tried what you said and it works wonders! Can't believe I can now finally listen to music the way it was intented, since having a speaker with lower volume on a stereo setup is very annoying. Thank you very much for sharing the solution with us!

Hello OnePlus friends
Got today my OnePlus 6T, as far as the current state and rooted with Magisk.
So it's about the following: if I want to listen to music if Spotify or YouTube I do not get any sound!
Also, it is extremely laggy in the YouTube App
But ringtone and notification sound go normal!
Can it be that I have hardware problems?
My Bluetooth headset Sennheiser Momentum Free wireless is synonymous not coupled but it is synonymous no sound!
Tried with other phones works without problems!
If you can give information or help I would be very grateful, otherwise I have to send in the device.
Many Thanks

Apparently dirty flashing will fix this. I do have a bug open with 1+ about this too. Gonna try the dirty flash myself
