Edit: You can flash Stock_003+OTA_004+OTA_005
It should do the name job.

TWRP 2.8.7.0 tells me this is for "OnePlus" devices and that I have an "onyx", then aborts the process. How do I fix this?

Yep, that's what OTAs are for.
In case you feel some issue(which you probably won't), then a wipe is recommended.

Thanks! Just don't wanna go through setting up again.

[Guide] Flash OTAs with TWRP (OS 2.1.3/ 005)

Firstly, you cannot install OTA's with TWRP. You'll have to get back to stock recovery in order to install patches.
Thanks to @eng.stk, with the recovery compiled from source, we now can flash OTA Zips from TWRP.
Download TWRP 2.8.7.0: http://forum.xda-developers.com/devdb/project/dl/?id=15364
Download the following OTA's and move them to internal/external storage and proceed to install them from TWRP.

It's most likely that you tampered the system and recovery partition. I uploaded the stock recovery here, flash the stock recovery, then flash to system dump, then this patch.

By flashing the system dump I meant, install this zip package http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-x/general/ota003all20151024193-oxygenos-ota-dump-t3244996. This zip package is stock system dump bearing version 03. Then flash to 03-04 patch.
is this OTA solved the problem with microsd cards?
Can anybody help with a generic error trying to flash the stock recovery again?
No reason why just says failed. I am rooted with TWRP and trying to revert to stock to be able to OTA. Last android was a nexus 4 and been away a little while so I may be missing something.. I don't want to have to wipe all my data and such can somebody assist and refresh my understanding?
Dizzyrul3z: No, microSD card issue remains according to official forum--next OTA I bet.
I'm rooted, TWRP also errored when I attempted the OTA installed.
So to clarify, using TWRP I want to install three zips: stock rom, OTA03 (system dump), and OTA04 (update), wipe cache/dalvik. Correct?
Question: I install them all at once in TWRP, right? Will any of this erase my apps/data?
Thanks,

You need to flash to Stock recovery as well. I'll be updating the OP.
So this update is newer than the one mentioned here right ? : https://forums.oneplus.net/threads/oxygenos-2-1-2-will-start-roll-out-to-oneplus-x-today.402637/

Instructions:
1. Switch to Stock Recovery if you're running TWRP. But how to do it? Restore this backup from TWRP.
2. Flash the system dump available at this thread.
3. Now flash this update/patch.
4. Then fastboot flash TWRP recovery if you only need it.
Just my 2 cents, boot TWRP instead of flashing it. I personally suggest.
Code:
fastboot boot twrp_directory_of_your_pc.img
PSA: You'll need Stock recovery to patch official updates.

[ROOT] Root for Stock MRA58N (System/Systemless) (Wi-Fi/LTE)

The hot new security update is live, and you maybe want some root love without flashing custom kernel.
(Stock Image here : https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images#volantis)
Handy modified root compatible boot image for the latest stock image MRA58N. Pure stock kernel modified from the stock images.
You have two choices:
The traditional root in system, which breaks OTA functionality.
(It's more stable now)
New "systemless" approach, which means the root stuffs are only in DATA and BOOT, the system will stay intact and it will accept OTAs.
(Note that this method is still in beta stage according to CF)
Instructions:
System:
Unzip system-root.zip, flash the boot.img through fastboot
Flash SuperSU 2.52
Systemless:
Be sure you haven't used any other root method(like the one above), if you've rooted with other methods, please re-flash your system back to pure stock
Unzip systemless-root.zip, flash the boot.img through fastboot
Download SuperSU-v2.56-20151030013730.zip in this thread, and flash it through TWRP
Important!! Please choose "Do not install SuperSU" when reboot in TWRP if appears.
When a new OTA appears I can just apply it and it will work? Do I keep root or do I have to reroot it again?
Are the attached zip files for the wifi model only?
I have this Kernel:
3.10.40-g909db78
[email protected] #1
Fri Aug 28 21:16:30 UTC 2015
Is this a stock one?
And with method shall I use to get rooted MRA58N?

Thanks for the modified boot images for LTE, I linked back here from my thread in Q&A forum.
have problems getting it to work...
am on MRA58N stock.
My exact steps.
adb reboot bootloader
Device reboots to bootloader.
fastboot flash boot boot.img (extracted from volantisg-mra58n-boot-systemless.zip)
fastboot boot twrp.img (extracted from https://dl.twrp.me/flounder/twrp-2.8.7.1-flounder.img)
From here, I manage to get into TWRP but they are asking for a PIN. I had to cancel and mounted an external USB storage and manage to flash SuperSU-v2.56-20151030013730.zip successfully. Rebooting after and not installing the the SuperSU that TWRP prompts.
After rebooting, I still don't have root. What did I do wrong?

I haven't run N version yet as my N9 is finally working without lags/reboots. But, the lure of the close all recent apps button (and very successful experience with xposed/gravity box on N5 after a year) in GB was too great. It works beautifully!
This may seem off-topic, but since root is required, maybe readers can allow exception.

You don't need to extract twrp.img, you should flash the full image "twrp-2.8.7.1-flounder.img".

Couldn't update Installation problem with august update

So this week i hadn't time enough to install the august update since my phone is rooted so i decided to do it now. What i did before trying to download the update :
1.Deleted all magisk modules that i had then rebooted
2.Unistalled magisk using restore image then rebooted
3.Went to sys update downloaded and it says installation failed
What do to? I'm not rooted now and i don't have twrp installed.
PS. don't want to install it via fastboot/miflash

Storage mounting issues after flashing TWRP

Just unlocked and flashed TWRP. No matter what I try, I can't get it to recognise my storage to install SuperSU.
What can I do to fix this?
I am on stock OOS 5.1.5
Thanks
EDIT - Worked it out. I formatted the data and it then let me install SuperSU.
EDIT 2 - After installing SuperSU zip file, the phone wasn't rooted when rebooting and also, TWRP won't recognise my data once I rebooted into it again.
Any ideas?

After twrp installation and before the first system reboot you need to flash magisk so twrp will be stick in place.
I really don't know if it works with supersu. Do you want to stay encrypted(internal storage)? Which twrp(file name) did you flash?
Preferably encrypted. I flashed twrp 3.1.1 cheeseburger.
I am trying to install Franco Kernel. So I unlocked the bootloader, flashed TWRP 3.1.1 and then tried to flash Super SU or Magisk and neither worked. It came up with an issue with file mounting.

All done! I now have another issue. I originally tried to flash Super SU and it did not work. I have tried to flash Magisk today after flashing franco kernel and get an error says that there is an unsupported boot image program or something.
I am on stock OOS, with franco kernel and no root. How can I get it so that I am on stock OOS with franco kernel and Magisk?
Thanks.

I attempted to dirty flash Magisk (however it did not install)
So what do I need to do to uninstall SuperSU?
The main issue is, after installing supersu, my phone still wasn't rooted!

Thanks. Will I need to flash a stock boot.img too? If so, where would I find this given I am on stock OOS.

Normally not, but if needed: every rom zip comes along with a boot.img inside the zip. Just extract it from this rom zip and you have the kernel of this rom :good:

Interestingly, I just flashed the unSU zip, wiped cache and then tried Magisk. It says I need to flash a stock boot.img
What is the process of doing this?
Thanks

Do I need to wipe or anything? Or do I just flash the boot.img, wipe cache and then flash Magisk? Or shall I boot fully into the OS, then back into TWRP to flash it?
Still not sure where I get the correct boot.img from!
Edit - can I dirty flash the whole firmware? I would like to do this so I can do a clean backup with the stock kernel before I then flash Magisk and Franco. Would this work?

You can also flash the complete rom with kernel.
But just look inside the downloaded rom zip file, there's the boot.img you're looking for. You don't need to wipe anything or boot into OS for flashing just the kernel!

Thanks for that, all up and running now.
Do you know where I can find the Franco governor profiles? I've had a good look around but can't find them again!
Thanks

The profiles are inside the app manager imo https://forum.xda-developers.com/on...francokernel-r1-8th-aug-t3653500/post73328473

I have the app manager. However there is only 'Ravi' profile under the governor profile options.

Rooted 6T / Update to 10.3.2 with TWRP completed successful / 6T stays at 10.3.1

Hi there
It's very strange. My phone is rooted and normally the update to a new version of OxygenOS works without problems. This time (update to 10.3.2) it's different. I use the following process:
Install full OTA version with TWRP
Install TWRP
Reboot
Install Magisk
After rebooting my 6T it shows immediately that there is a system update to version 10.3.2 available. The version I installed seconds ago. I tried full OTA version from several sources including the one from Oneplus itself. Always the same phenomenon.
Any idea what causes this behavior and how to solve it?
nobody has an idea?

Hello, it seems somehow won't flash...
I would racommend to use LOCAL UPDATE to update your rom.
See THIS THREAD, post #3, very useful thread.
Would to thank @Striatum_bdr and @Scott for their awesome work..
Cheers
Try this method
- Flash 10.3.2
- Flash Twrp zip
- Reboot to Recovery
- Again Flash 10.3.2
- Flash Twrp zip
- Now Reboot to System

Thank you. I will first try this method. does it make a difference if I use the TWRP zip or image to install it? Previously I used img.
And before rebooting system I would install magisk. but that should not affect the uodate, rught?
