I installed an app called "messages for s6 edge /edge plus" that shows messages when screen is off, it says you can do a quick reply or reply by voice, but for the life of me, I cannot find reply to work. Does anyone have this app and have it working?

I keep having issues with the messaging app built in. Only when I get messages from iphones it always shows the download message box and I have to hit it. I'd there a better messaging app where I don't have to do that? My s6 didn't do that with stock messaging.

Group messages from iPhones? Your phone is trying to receive an MMS and you might have the auto download MMS off in the settings of your messaging app.
Thanks finally found that part of settings for both group messages and auto download. Let's see if that works.

Can anyone suggest an app that will support long texts and will not split them into multiple ones and annoy the person who is ultimately receiving it? I previously had the Galaxy Note 4 and used the Go Pro sms app and that seemed to work well in sending my lengthy messages (over 160 characters) as one and not splitting it into 3 or 4 parts. Go Pro doesn't seem to be working now with my Galaxy S7 edge or am I missing something in the settings? The stock seems to be worse and just sends it into a jumbled mess.
Does anyone have any fix suggestion or app suggestion? Thanks.

if you look at the setting in the default messaging app it does it all
it also has enhanced feature that you can turn on that will send large files videos etc
Google Hangouts supports long texts without splitting them, but only if the person you're texting has an app (and a network) that supports it as well.

As Robalboa said, the stock app does what the OP wants to do. People need to learn to explore all the menus in an app to learn what's available.
Seems like if I am using the data for Internet or an app then if someone calls it doesn't ring or get logged. Just goes right to voice message. If phone is just idle it seems like I get normal calls and call logging. Anyone else? Any ideas on how to fix? At&t 935f (phone is from Italy).

Have you modified the phone in any way? Disabled or frozen any apps, for example.
Still stock no root. I disabled Gmail only

I've got the dual sim S7 edge and next to every single txt message, send and received, it displays a little blue sim card icon with the number 1 on it. I understand this might be useful if i was actually using 2 sim cards. But i'm only using 1. Does anyone know if there's a way to turn off that icon? It's not a huge deal, but i just find it annoying seeing that icon repeated over and over for every msg sent or received.
I have not rooted the phone or anything.
Just use a different messaging app. The Google Messenger app is quite excellent.

I guess that's a reasonable option. I gave google messenger app a try a while back but stopped using it. I can't really remember why so maybe I'll give it a try again.
