looking at getting a Samsung Galaxy S5 and have noticed that they are not the same models. ie. G900I, G900F etc. could anyone explain the difference please. i am in Australia by the way. thanks
Basically the region and/or the cell provider. There's a list somewhere on XDA that goes over each model.

I believe all the ones that aren't CDMA?
From GSMArena:
Samsung Galaxy S5
Available as:
Samsung SM-G900F - for Europe
Samsung SM-G900I - for Asia
Samsung SM-G900K/G900L/G900S - for Korea
Samsung SM-G900M - for Vodafone
Samsung SM-G900A - for AT&T
Samsung SM-G900T - for T-Mobile
Samsung SM-G900V - for Verizon
Samsung SM-G900R4 - for US Cellular
Samsung SM-G900P - for Sprint
As for which one for Australia, I have no idea. I believe that for other devices Australia uses the EU model, so it's likely that one. But I can't guarantee it.
I'm from Malaysia but here have f version only and in Indonesia only version h

The official australian version is G900I since G900F doesn't support some of the LTE frequencies (700Mhz and 2300Mhz).

May I know how can I flash SM-900F firmware on an SM0900I Galaxy S5 as the Australian SM-900I firmware has some limitations?

Search for 'Odin' in the forums and download the firmware from www.sammobile.com.

People really shouldn't flash firmwares that are not meant for your phone. While they might be 99% identical, there are some differences like the 3g/4g bands that the device supports.

I bought the G900F in Hong Kong and works perfectly well in Australia on Vodafone 4G. I also flashed the UK BTU firmware over the stock ZHU firmware and simply brilliant.
I think you limit yourselves buying the G900I version as the G900F has far more options for flashing stock firmwares, and works perfectly well in Australia. The G900I version reminds me of the S4 Mini (i9195T version) which was Vodafone/Telstra only and never received the 4.3 update, or any others for that matter.... Better to get a phone that has world wide coverage, than one that's limited to Australia if you care about timely updates.
FYi, if you check www.samfirmware.com, you'll see that the listed G900I is only Australia and Taiwan... G900F is everything from Europe to Asia.
I have the G900H in south America.
I bought S5- SM-G900F from Dubai airport and wanted to know if it will work in India/US
thanks for info
am just wondering if compatability of different models and 4G coverage
Thanks
I have a SM-G900F phone in Australia for last 2 years., and have no problems whatsoever.
Hey guys,
Noob user here but long fan of the forum. Just wondering if anyone knew of the firmware version that supports the Australian language for the s4 gt-i9500? When I got my s4, it did have it on here but during the upgrade from 4.3 to 4.4 it had a massive break down and I found that my unit had vietmanese country codes which when downloading the official rom, it didn't support the aussie language - which doesn't allow me to have the best signal nor to support the news in my country.
I'd apprechiate any help that could be given.
Thanks again,
Szandor

Hi guys,
I recently flashed my SM-G930P over to SM-G930U firmware using the how-to here.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/sprint-galaxy-s7/help/bloat-free-firmware-930u-tried-t3428974
Would that mean my phone now supports the expanded LTE bands of the SM-G930U phone? I would assume flashing the CP part would include the new modem frequencies.

If your phone is carrier unlocked, it will use the bands used by your carrier. So yes, it supports all the LTE bands that come with the S7.
