first backup your data in case of any procedure failure .
1. Unlock your bootloader .
2.Install any custom recovery(i like TWRP).
3.Flash root.zip and boom you are now rooted.
You can use all-in-one tool by vishal gohel and yuware by @someshthakur(My favourite)

Hi!
You can easily boot a custom recovery and then install the SuperSU.zip from there .
1 - Download the SuperSU zip from here: http://download.chainfire.eu/370/SuperSU/UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.80.zip.
2 - Copy it to your Nexus 10 root folder (the one where it's located Download, DCIM, Android, etc)
3 - Download the .img file from here: http://www.teamw.in/project/twrp2/128, then rename it to recovery.img
4 - Copy it to your fastboot/adb folder (if you doesn't have one search for how to get it)
5 - Plug your Nexus 10 in your PC
6 - Turn USB Debugging on (Settings --> About Tablet --> Press many times Build Number --> Developer Options --> On --> USB Debugging)
7 - Open a cmd in your PC and go to your adb/fastboot folder, then type:
Code:
adb reboot bootloader
(When the screen turns on you type) fastboot boot recovery.img
Wait for it to turn on and then click install, select the SuperSU.zip and then confirm. Then it's done . If you can't get this way working you can try one of the many tools in the Development thread. I'm sure one will work with you .

Issues with rooting (4.4), stuck after flashing recovery
I just got my Nexus 10, and unlocked the boot loader, then flashed the custom recovery. All was fine, and I could boot into recovery, however recovery can not mount any filesystems. So I rebooted, now the Nexus does not boot, but hangs on the intro animation, normally meaning in my experience that the kernel is looped and is no longer finding (or else) booting the OS. I've tried booting 3 times.
So then, the steps I took,
enable USB debugging
were copy over the zip file for supersu
reboot to (fastboot mode), verify device
unlock boot loader "fastboot oem unlock"
flash the recovery "recovery-clockwork-touch-6.0.4.3-manta"
reboot into recovery
Failed to mount filesystems
for instance "E: Can't mount /cache/recovery/command or E:Can't mount /sdcard .... (you get the idea).
rebooting again a leaving it does nothing.
I also tried side loading a new image in my case "ThunderKat_manta-KRT16S-20131201" and after installing the "UniversalAdbDriverSetup", I was able to do so, I also was also able to side load the google apps "GoogleAppsPack-4.4-20131128", in both cases I get a success message after the install, however there after when I attempt to reboot I'm still stuck looking at the boot animation.
Now I'm really confused as if if the OS was destroyed when I unlocked the device, then side load of the zip contains a new kernel and OS image so it should be working, but it is not. In fact, recovery while still working throws the same can not mount exceptions after the flash as it did before (I rebooted) as I was previously getting and a factory reset, fails to mount /data, but does flash /cache and sd-ext without issues, so again I'm lost as to what to do.
Best guess I have is that partitions such as /data are just missing, I have no idea the state of teh device in such a case, but recovery and side loading using adb are working, how do I recover a working ANDROID OS from here?
Thanks,
ERIC
stuck in loading screen
Hi,
i just got my Nexus 10 yesterday. I tried to root it, but it is stuck in the loading screen. What can i do now? Can i like undo it to get it back to work?
I have the same issue egandt described.
Edit: I just got it back with this tutorial to android 4.2.2 and now i am updating it back up
nexus10root.com/nexus-10-unroot/how-to-unrootunbrick-nexus-10-factory-firmware/
I unlocked nexus10,
Flashed cwm,
Installed su, but whn i turned it on, su not found, rootchecker shows no root access..
I also encounter bootloop initially,
Need to wide data / factory reset then its normally booted..
Sent from my SM-N9005 using xda app-developers app
Agreed the factory reset was required to fix the issues I encountered, then installing super-su worked.
I still cannot root the Nexus10..
Any one can help?
Thanks in advance!

Many thanks for the detailed explanation, bro!
Still got following questions:
So do I need to enable "USB Debugging" 1st before unlocking Bootloader?
Although I successfully installed SuperSU, but still lack of SU power, those apps required SU access are not working at all.
the kitkat poisons me... sigh...
Thanks again!

If you are going to follow the commands he listed in step 7 then yes you need to enable "USB Debugging" before you go ahead and unlock the Bootloader. Installing SuperSU alone will not give you root access, you need to flash the SuperSU .zip file in recovery as the end of step 7 mentions to properly gain root access. If your still confused about anything or have any questions let me know I'll be happy to help you .

Thanks for your kind offering of hands!
Last night I tried again to re-flashed latest TWRP as well as latest SuperSU.
I ran 2x Root Checker,
1 said rooted,
1 said no root access, no BusyBox available.
I tried some apps like GMD Gesture, no working or no root access.
So,
Should I redo everything: enable USB Debugging then unlock bootloader then flash CWM then install SuperSU?
I initially gone thru above steps w/o enabling USB Debug..
Many thanks!

Do you have SuperSU in your app drawer? If so, open it and see if you have to update the SU binaries. If not, try flashing the SuperSU zip again.

How can I do it? any tutorial?
this is how I root my galaxy y
goto recovery
flash this cwm zip - download here
mount system if not already mounted (in mounts and storage it should display "unmount system" if system is mounted)
install zip from sd
select this zip download Valkyrie_1_5E
select superuser by chainsdd
restart
you should now have the superuser app and your phone rooted
if it cant find your build.prop you have a varient of the 5360 that cant use this method

Look for stock firmware bundled with the bootloader for your device then flash through odin.. But Im warning you its a risky move you could brick your device.. So i suggest you do a little more research before doing anything dangerous goodluck

flashing stock firmware does not unlock the phone!
and you dont unlock the bootloader like you do a htc phone - the zips contains the bootunlock file when you flash them in galaxy y
never flash the boot loader in odin - you will be at high risk of damaging your phone if you get it wrong
use dokys glaxy toolbox to remove carrier lock

Questions go in the Q&A thread by the way

Sorry for the wrong placement :S
How? just change the name of the .zip to update and flash through the mi recovery?
Yes, you can do it either this way, or you can also go to Updater, tap the three dots and then 'Choose update package'.

Sorry but that didn´t make it clear for me. Am I right? Just change name to update.zip and then "Choose update package"?
If you do it that way, then you don't have to rename the ZIP file. Just move it to your phone, then tap "Choose update package" and select the ZIP file. It will reboot into recovery and install the ROM automatically.

Working root for honor 8 pro

This is only for Honor 8 Pro (DUK-L09)
DISCLAIMERYOUR WARRANTY IS NOW VOID. IN NO WAY AM I RESPONSIBLE FOR THE EFFECTS YOU INFLICT ON YOUR MOBILE DEVICE BY FOLLOWING THE BELOW PROCEDURE. IMPROPER USAGE OF THE METHOD MIGHT END UP BRICKING YOUR DEVICE AND RENDERING IT UNUSABLE.
PLEASE BACKUP ALL YOUR DATA BEFORE PROCEEDING.
Purpose of this thread is to provide a working rooting method for the Honor 8 Pro. Flashing Phhsuperuser doesn't grant SYSTEM WIDE root permission.
Functions like granting -rw permissions to apps demanding them for accessing /system partition was disabled, TWRP backup wouldn't work.
With this method, you will be able to operate the phone will proper root privileges.
INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
1. UNLOCK BOOTLOADER
Assuming you have a Huawei ID, use THIS PAGE to get your Unlock code.
Once you have that, enable USB debugging on your device from Developer options menu.
Make sure "Allow OEM unlock" option is selected.
Use the following set of commands via ADB/Fastboot:
adb device (this should recognize your device)
adb reboot bootloader (this will boot your phone into fastboot mode)
fastboot oem unlock *unlock key* (the part between * is where the unlock key goes)
The device will restart and then perform factory reset itself.
2. INSTALL CUSTOM RECOVERY IMAGE (Source : TWRP Thread by OldDroid)
Download TWRP recovery image from HERE
Rename the downloaded file to recovery.img
Copy it to the ADB folder that you are using.
Use the command "adb reboot bootloader" like in Step 1 to boot into Fastboot mode.
Flash the recovery using "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img" command (without quotes)
You have now flashed a custom recovery onto your phone.
3. ROOTING
Download Magisk installer zip file from THIS LINK . I had personally used v 13.3 .
Copy it to your SD card(I would suggest you to use a external card).
Switch off your device.
Boot into recovery mode by pressing Volume Up and Power Button together.
Once in, swipe to allow modifications.
Go to Wipe - Format Data
Then Go to Reboot- Recovery
You should be back into the recovery mode. Go to Install menu - Select storage - Install the Magisk zip that you downloaded.
Once it is flashed, you can Reboot to system.
Note: To confirm system wide root access, you can reboot to recovery and try to take a Nandroid backup. It should now be possible.
If anyone happens to run into a bootloop or soft bricks the device, THIS THREAD by @aKp1 will come in handy.
Thanks to @OldDroid for his TWRP thread.
I am rooted using phhs superuser, do I need to unroot first? If yes, I can't find how to unroot the Indian variant.
Going back to Stock = Unrooting

Yes you will have to unroot first. Since phhsuperuser doesn't have a option to UNROOT, you will have to flash stock ROM.
To do that, download the following: HUAWEI UPDATE EXTRACTOR and STOCK ROM .
Follow below steps:
Extract the Stock ROM
Use the Update extractor and select "Update.app" file. That should give you a list of files. Select "recovery.img" and "recovery2.img" image files and extract them.
Copy them to ADB folder. Boot your phone into fastboot mode, flash the two recovery files you copied.
Next, Copy the "dload" folder to your SD card(preferably external SD). Switch your phone off. Press Vol Up,Vol Down and Power button together. The ROM should start flashing. That brings you back to stock firmware. If you want to re-root, follow the instructions in this thread.

Thanks for your reply. I'll try this out.
The build number of the Stock ROM in Gdrive is "Duke-L09I_C675B130" while the one on the phone is "DUK-L09C675B130" are they both the same variant?

Don't worry . It's the same. File name doesn't matter.

Oh wait. Isn't the format data option remove some necessary apps like keyboard and others? Because that's the case before in my Honor 8. After you remove encryption, you need to reflash the region zip so that some important files will be retained.

The zip I shared is for the Indian variant . As long as someone is having C675(Indian variant) installed, it shouldn't cause issues. However if you come from a different region(C432) , you will have to use region zip. I guess I mentioned that in the TWRP thread, current last post.
But formatting data can't be avoided as unlocking bootloader will wipe it in first place . More over stock ROM encrypts data on first boot, so you will have to format data(decrypt it) and proceed with rooting.

That's correct. As simple as that. Decrypt , flash Magisk and you are done. I don't know why many didn't try this all this while.

Yes magisk will solve your problem. Phhsuperuser doesn't allow you to grant permissions to any app that tries fiddle with system partition. If you are already rooted , go back to stock and follow the steps outlined.

How to decrypt? I successfully rooted with magisk v14 but adaway is disabled after reboot, same case as phhs superuser.

You need to wipe data (which will decrypt) and then flash Magisk.
Read point no.3 of the installation instructions.

I wiped data, flashed Magisk v13.3 and then v14 after a successful boot (without wipe).

Stay with 130. Surprisingly, rooting by this method still allows OTA to come in.
