LOUD , CLEAR , BASS , and Awesome SoundSystem on AOSP Roms
TESTED ON SAMSUNG GALAXY S3 ON AOSP 4.1.2 , 4.2.2 , 4.3.1 AND ALSO 4.4.1
(worked flawlessly without any issues)
MAY WORK ON OTHER SAMSUNG DEVICES
ENJOY BEST & CLASSY & LOUD SOUND ON AOSP ROM (any) . MUCH BETTER THAN SAMSUNG OFFICIAL ROM SOUND TOO
As we all know Custom Roms are much much better in performance and customization than Stock Roms.
But the main problem for us (Samsungites) is the Sound System of AOSP which is very low as comapared to Sammy based Touchwiz Roms.
So here I am going to show you a method which worked for me and I want to share it to all of the Galaxy Users.
This trick worked for me on Samsung Galaxy S3 (Intl.) and may work on other devices too.
METHOD FOR KERNEL WITH stweak - support (like Googy Max Kernel and Wolfson Kernel)
THINGS YOU NEED :-
Samsung Galaxy S3 (...lol...)
Root (...lol...again)
Custom Rom installed alongwith Custom Recovery
Custom KERNEL (which '''HAS TO''' support stweaks for this trick)
stweaks
MusicFX
Viper4Android
SuperSU (or any SuperUser App)
For Samsung Galaxy S3 (i9300 intl. version) 4.3 , I used Googy Max Kernel alongwith Paranoid Android 3.99 RC2 (based on Android 4.3)
And
For Samsung Galaxy S3 (i9300 intl. version) 4.4.1 , I used Boeffla Kernel , with Boeffla Sound App alongwith OmniRom (based on Android 4.4)
You may flash different kernels and check which one works with stweaks.
METHOD :-
After finishing everything needed in Things You Need
You have to install stweaks from playstore
and choose WOLFSON Sound in Audio/Sound Tab.
Then i have provided my Settings (which I think is perfect for me...You may choose different settings.)
Bass Gain 1 - 1db
Bass Gain 2 - 1db
Treble Gain 1 - 5db
Treble Gain 2 - 5db
Speaker Boost Level - 1
Now ,
Install MusicFX from the playstore.
Then Enable it by just opening it once.
Then Download Viper4Android and install its drivers by opening it once, then reboot (as it says)
Then Open Viper4Android and ENABLE IT FOR Headset and Speakers.
On the right side (top) select the button and choose COMPATIBLE MODE.
And then
You have to go to your default music player or any other music player.
OPEN
SETTINGS > EQUALIZER > Select MUSICFX as default
Then ""perform the following settings given below""
Select USER from PRESET
Then
Tune The Following Values in USER PRESET Starting from first tab to last
-9db
-9db
0db
0db
2db
2db
These are my settings. You may choose another.
Tada,
You Cracked it.
Enjoy Your Awesome SoundSystem on any AOSP based Custom Roms.
FOR USERS WITH BOEFFLA KERNEL ,
JUST REPLACE THE STWEAK THING WITH BOEFFLA SOUND CONTROL APP AND INCREASE THE VOLUME IN THE APP ITSELF TO THE MAXIMUM , i e 63 (or 61 , if you get distortion)
:good: Thanks to everyone for appreciating this. :good:

Does your tweak also fix the low sound recording / video recording in AOSP Rom?! or does it record record at low level and gets speaker boost? Rephrasing this -- if I play a TouchWiz Recorded audio on a PC vs AOSP Recorded Audio, will it have the same quality?

If you want to increase the LOW-SOUND recording during sound/video record, there is an option in stweaks for the 'mic volume'.
You can increase the volume from there itself.
Just check on the Audio tab itself and post the review here :good:
I hope this helped
Updated with Viper
Hey Guys, Now i have updated this method to use with Viper4Android which gives us more clarity and deeper BASS .. BOOM-BOOM
Reference to [ROM][AOSP][4.4.2][KOT49H] SuperNexus 4.0 - I9300 - Build 1 [25-12-13] forum thread by the genius user Faryaab, I admit that I never got such an amazing user experience "UX" ever before using this ROM on my SGS3 I9300.
Shortly, what I'm intended to view through this thread is sharing the smoothest experience I ever get flavored by most recent Android version Kitkat 4.4.2 which I'd shorten in the following points:
Untouched AOSP 4.4.2 Kitkat
Customizing display, statusbar, lockscreen, volume and other tweaks
Enabling App ops which was opted out in 4.4.2 update
Fixing can't connect to the camera error
Enabling Emoji in keyboard
ART is not working, ROM is self protected, solutions?
Untouched AOSP 4.4.2 Kitkat
I really like the untouched stock Kitkat experience which delivers the original Google's philosophy to the end-user. The SuperNexus 4.0 really delivered it perfectly. Fastest ROM I ever got over 16 months of using SGS3 and the big failure of stock 4.3 ROMs. With all built-in features on just 170 megabytes, the space of the ROM in comparison with 1 gigabytes armed TW enabled Samsung stock ROMs "which I actually miss many of their features", I could really become very satisfied that I really could get the best practice of the high-end phone utilization.
Customizing display, statusbar, lockscreen, volume and other tweaks
Comparing with Google Nexus 5 phone features or just the Kitkat features from official Android's website and in comparison with minimal features we miss from stock Samsung ROMs, I've customized the phone
Simply, I installed GravityBox [KK Edition] from the official thread here and its main framework Xposed from here. These amazing tools allowed me to (these are my own favorite tweaks, you can tweak it on your own choice):
Customize battery icon like in stock Samsung ROM: Battery percentage (like Samsung ROM)
Adding AM/PM beside the clock (like Samsung ROM)
Battery Arc in lockscreen ribbon (Sense of art)
Quick Settings extra icons and arrangement (mostly close to stock Samsung ROM)
Unplug turns on screen to be notified that the cable is unplugged if phone is silent (like Samsung ROM)
Fade screen off effect rather than CRT (like Samsung ROM)
Immersive desktop mode
More volume steps (Volume hack)
Safe headset media volume (like Samsung ROM)
Expandable volume panel (like Samsung ROM)
Fully expandable volume panel (like Samsung ROM)
Turn to mute (like Samsung ROM)
Enabling App ops which was opted out in 4.4.2 update
App ops feature which was presented in 4.4.0 and 4.4.1 Kitkat enables users to control over app permissions across the phone. You can unhide this feature by downloading and installing AppOpsXposed from Xposed framework.
Fixing can't connect to the camera error
Most users complains from "can't connect to the camera" error, simply refer to this thread here and download the 4.4.2 camera then flash it. You'll get surprised that the camera version in this thread includes Sphere mode which was absent in the existing ROM. All modes are working smoothly. Thanks to DAddYE
Enabling Emoji in keyboard
The preinstalled AOSP keyboard does not support the Emoji icon pack. To resolve this, just install the Google Keyboard from Play Store here Enjoy
ART is not working, ROM is self protected, solutions?
I tried to enable ART instead of Dalvik, the phone asked me to reboot to apply changes, phone restarted normally but when I accessed developer tools >> Select runtime, I found that Dalvik is still the active option for runtime management. I've read several threads that users complains from boot loop if they enabled ART, but I admit that the SuperNexus 4.0 ROM is self-protected from this issue which I hope to see the next build to enable ART. I just wonder using ART runtime needs script or kernel or odexed ROM, I never got the perfect answer.
UPDATE
Reference to post 7 reply from Shamus69, I found out that the reason of reverting back to the Dalvik VM from ART is the Xposed framework. Since the phone is actually at its peak performance in this very lightweight ROM, and my phone is actually armed with ZeroLemon 7000mAh battery which lasts about 2.5 times a standard battery, I don't need the ART VM for now since I think it won't make such big difference for the set.
UPDATE #2 (22 Jan 2014)
Reference to post from member UltraR4nd0m13, I tried the YouTube app as mentioned and I found out what exactly he illustrated, there is an issue after pausing any video.
Another issues I discovered:
H/W and H/W+ video decoders are not functioning properly (videos are displayed in scattered frames) which means an issue with the video driver (Tested with MX Player)
Stereo effects in some games (Tested with Candy Crush Saga) are not clear which means an issue with the audio driver
I hope you share your experience using the SuperNexus ROM on your Samsung Galaxy S3 in this thread and share the word.

Nice review dude
One question what about the Battery life and Bluetooth Headset performance ?
When I tried CM10 on my phone previously, I found that the phone was eating much more battery than usual. Also Bluetooth range was significantly shorter than what I have on touchwiz ROM with my bluetooth handsfree.
Due to both of above problems, I reverted back to samsung roms. Did you notice of those issues ?

Hey.. thanks for a such an elaborate review.. Are you using Xposed ? that could be a reason why runtime is switching back to dalvik..
ART solution?

I think the reason you cannot use ART is because you are running the Xposed framework. Disable it and reboot. Now try selecting ART again and reboot. It should work...be prepared for an extremely long first boot!
The ART runtime framework - Extended Discussion
So you suggest me to disable Xpose framework which might disable all related services like GravityBox [KK] that will disable all tweaks I performed. And you mention the very long boot (I remember when I read some user waited for 1.5 hours and they laughed at him)
Will the ART really make a difference? Does all apps support it? Any software released yet to verify which apps are using Dalvik and which are using ART?

Xposed framework is just NOT compatible with ART. It will not work, forcing the runtime to switch back to Dalvik. It may take sometime before Xposed will become compatible with ART.
I am just suggesting you could try it, at least just to prove the point. You don't need to uninstall xposed and gravitybox. Just disable xposed using the CWM zip that came with it. It should be in the root folder of your sd card, or you can download it here, at the bottom of the first post...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1574401
You will loose your gravitybox tweaks, but you might find it is worth it!
Not tried it myself, but the initial boot time depends on how many apps you have installed. I'm thinking 5-10mins, 1.5h sounds a little excessive!
It's really a bit subjective whether ART is faster/battery friendly...you need to try it for yourself. 99% of apps work with ART, although some are a little buggy and slow. It really depends on each individual's setup.
I have not seen an ART app compatability database, but you cann google!

I tried this ROM and loved it, except it seems that no one but myself has found an annoying bug in the YouTube app, when you pause a video and resume it, after that it just keeps pausing its self every time after buffering. Doesn't happen on any other ROM.

Thanks for the review !
I'm wondering, does the camera have an option to set front-faceing camera resolution to 1392x1392 ? (that would give you a square, wide-angle view) ?
I'd like to try it, this is exactly what I need - pure Android wo adds... But it seems "not well supported" comparing to official CM and Temasek

My Galaxy S3 has been a ROM whore since I got my Nexus 5.
I love the idea of a pure Google Android, and I was running Omni before I tried the SuperNexus ROM. I love the AOSP flavour + lack of customization: I felt a little overwhelmed by the sheer amount of tweaks in Omni, which were not always relevant.
.
This ROM is perfect for me apart for 2 points: screen color and hardware keys. Samsung takes the blame for both
I made a flashable zip to correct these two hardware flaws. Note: I worked on a zip which I downloaded here on XDA, but I cannot find the post anymore to give proper credit to the author.
The mod changes MDNIE mode and scenario to UI/natural, disables buttons backlight and capacitive buttons input. Home button is remapped to a power button, and navigation bar is enabled.
I really like what my I9300 has become. It is my multimedia remote control and also my backup phone
Music Playback Problem
Hello.
I want to post this on Original Supernexus thread, but that thread is locked... I am experiencing music playback problem. Whenever I pause any music file and then try to resume it, I am unable to do it and player jumps to next track.. This is happening with almost all music players except poweramp and neutron music player........Any suggestions???
Very nice Homescreen

SuperNexus is a beautiful ROM for our I9300s, however in my case I experienced an issue that forced me to go back to SuperNexus 3 for now. Haven't seen it posted, so I might throw it out here in case someone has experienced it:
Whenever I'm playing media (I use Google Play Music and TuneIn a lot, but also happens with local files) and hearing it through anything connected to the earphones output of the phone, as soon as the screen turns off, I open an app, or simply pull down the notification bar, the music goes mute, but it continues to play in the background, to the point that when I go back to the launcher home music can be heard again.
It is a very strange issue, and it does not happen at all if I listen to music from the phone's own speaker, I reflashed Google apps a couple of times, wiped (factory reset) the phone and even reflashed SuperNexus 4 after formatting /system, yet the problem still persists.
Back to SuperNexus 3 atm, no problems at all with it. Hope this one gets fixed if it is a bug at all, KitKat is full of goodness, I really like the Google Now launcher, so I just grabbed it and punched it into the 4.3 ROM so I can still use it
Edit: In case anyone out there suffer the same issue, it turned out to be google search "Hotword recognition" feature, the one that lets you start searching by saying Ok Google to your phone, turning it off solved my problem and I'm using SuperNexus 4 again, it seems this issue comes from the latest version of the Google Search app (which also happens to be google now and integrate on the new 4.4 launcher).
As I don't use the "Ok Google" thing at all, I just disabled the hotword feature on the Voice options and got rid of the problem.
This was my god rom. Everything I ever wanted was in it. But I keep having some video playback issues. Whenever I move the seeker, the video starts freezing and I have to replay it all over without being able to get to where I left off. I tried reflashing but the new issue that popped up was that I couldn't play videos from browsers (AKA watch anime).
My friend has the SAME phone with the SAME rom and he has NONE of those issues. I'm asking him for a nandroid backup so I can restore it on mine and do a factory reset.

I'm so happy and glad I'm not the only one. I thought my phone was broken or something. Lol.
After all this, I went back to android 4.1 ultima rom. Android 4.3 has that annoying browsing bug where the web browser keeps loading even after the web page is finished and makes it stutter like crazy. I've never really used 4.2.2 so I can't say anything about it. I'd love to go back to Super Nexus though.

All of that is fixed. Download UltimaromAOSP. It's based on super nexus but with all the fixes.
It's amazing, trust me.
I'm currently using Paranoid Android 4.3 Beta 4 on my Nexus 10. I like it, but I'm having a problem with the volume controls.
I have very sensitive hearing, and the lowest notification volume without being off is too loud for me. Other roms I've tried had more fine grained control (last one was Liquid Smooth) so I was able to set it at a level that was comfortable for me. The media sounds can go quiet enough, just not the notification sounds.
Does anyone know how I can adjust it? I don't mind downloading an app or doing relatively easy mods, just don't want to have to swap roms due to this. Thanks
Download Xposed Installer, install the framework, reboot, then looked for XVolume in the modules section. Download XVolume and reboot your device. XVolume gives you more control over the sound (you can go lower than what it's coded). It helps me so i'm sure it will work for you.
Hi y'all fellow Idol 3 users! And welcome to my guide which aims to help you make your phone sound exactly how you want it to.
Okay, so if you bought this phone, chances are you wanted a great media consumption experience, since this is the Alcatel Idol 3's strength. When I got the phone and first plugged my headphones in to test out all that JBL stuff they were advertising, I couldn't help it but feel let down. Yep. I found it sounded muddy, disorted and clicky. But since we are talking about android, I knew I could probably do something about that. Plus I KNEW the audio chip in this phone was great. So I started tweaking and I finally can say that my Idol 3 sounds like a beast.
Here are the steps, then!
1. Disable the JBL setting. First and foremost, please, pleeease... go to settings > sound and notifications and disable "JBL". Honestly, it just doesn't sound good. It introduces a LOT of disortion in exchange for a little bit of bass. They are much better ways to get bassier sound without hardly disorting it, trust me. I don't know what they were thinking... this setting just assassinates the music IMO. However you are free to do as you want, of course.
* For step 2, root is needed.
2. Install Viper4Android. The following steps will guide you through the installation of this godly piece of software. For you guys which don't know what Viper4Android is, it's one of the best sound engines (in my opinion the best) available for android. It originated in China where it became really popular. Installing Viper4Android will not alter the sound signature in any way, it will just unlock the true potential of your sound-related hardware, getting rid of bottlenecks that worsen audio quality. Just installing it WILL get you a better sound. However, it also provides lots of settings and tweaks to change the sound signature if you want to, and they work really well, unlike this JBL setting we were given. In order to install it, you can either follow my own instructions or head to the official V4A thread and follow the steps there.
2.1 Install Busybox. Download one of the many installers in the Play Store, open the app and click install. Reboot if it asks you to. You can safely delete the app afterwards.
2.2 Download the Viper4Android apk from the official site. Be sure to download ViPER4Android FX 2.3.4.0 which is the one that works with Lollipop.
2.3 Extract the zip and then pick the apk called "ViPER4Android_FX_A4.x.apk" and put it in your phone's storage, then install it.
2.4 Install the V4A driver. Open the app and it should prompt you to install the driver. Select "Audiophile quality" for the best sound quality. Even though it warns you about high cpu usage, I did not notice lags or battery drain. However if this worries you a lot you can always choose "high quality" instead, though I wouldn't recommend it. It will ask you to reboot your phone, do it.
2.5 Make it run along enforcing selinux. This mod normally wont work with enforcing selinux, so you can either change selinux to permissive mode or just flash this zip (by XDA member maximumentropy) through custom recovery, wich will make it work with enforcing selinux. I recommend the second method.
2.6 OPTIONAL STEP: In ViPER4Android's thread the instructions say you have to edit the next lines in the "build.prop" file, which is located in /system. Lines to edit:
Ipa.decode=true to lpa.decode=false
tunnel.decode=true to tunnel.decode=false
lpa.use-stagefright=true to lpa.use-stagefright=false
I found that the second line was already set to false in my device. If you are not in stock rom you might not find this lines, if that's the case just ignore this step.
This step is optional because I used ViPER4Android for a few days without doing it and everything seemed to work. So if you prefer not to mess with the build.prop you can try without doing this.
2.7 Enable ViPER4Android. Open the app and you will find there are several tabs: "Headphones", "Speaker", "Bluetooth"... just activate the first checkbox in every tab if you want ViPER4Android working globally.
2.8 Turn off conflicting settings in some music players. Most player should work fine out of the box, but in some cases there are settings that conflict with V4A.
2.8.1 Poweramp: turn off EQ, tone and limiter. Go to settings > sound engine > advanced customization, and untick the first checkbox. The other settings didn't seem to conflict for me, but you can try disabling them too if you are having trouble to make it work (I have them all disabled).
This section needs expansion! Tell me how you made your favourite music player work with V4A.
2.9 Test it out! Play some music and open V4A. Click the dropdown menu and choose "Driver status". It should say:
NEON Enabled: Yes
Enabled: Yes
Status: Normal
Audio Format: Supported
Processing: Yes
If that's what you see, then contrats! Everything is set.
3. Grab a nice sounding music player. The consensus is that the one with the best quality is "Neutron Music Player". I do agree with this, however, the UI is really crappy and I just cannot cope with that scroll. That is why I use Poweramp, which also sounds nice, and has the addition of a nice little "punch" in the lower frequencies. If you know some other great sounding players be sure to comment below and tell so I can expand the guide!
4. Get a nice pair of headphones. The included ones by JBL do pretty well for the price they are valued at ($40) but that doesn't mean there aren't better choices out there! Also they didn't seem to fit comfortably in my ears with any of the sizes inlcuded. If you want something with a similar price and an even better sound, I recomend the Sony MH1C, a pair of IEMs you can get for $30 but sound like some good $100+ IEMs. If you want traditionally shaped headphones then my recommendaiton is the KOSS PortaPro (or the KSC75 wich are essentially the same but with a different form factor). They are also dirt cheap and have a very decent sound. For more recommendations you can ask me (though I am no expert) or just head to the Head-Fi forums. You won't get better advice anywhere else when concerning headphones! These guys really know their stuff.
Lastly, I hope this guide is of use to some of you and allows you to enjoy the Alcatel Idol 3 to the fullest. I wanted to contribute to this great device's community since I felt it diserves way more attention than it is getting. And by the way, english is not my first language, so please excuse any error I might have made!
FURTHER TWEAKING:
You will see that ViPER4Andoid has a lot of settings, especially if you select the "Expert" UI setting from the dropdown menu. If you want ideas and advice on using them, head over the the official V4A thread.
Thanks!!!
I use n7player. It produce nice sound with v4a combo plus convolver set on studer +1db updated. Also tried shuttle+ but n7 has nicer interface.

Under cm12.1 do you need to disable "audiofx" before using v4a?
Attached is a flashable zip which should add the 3 lines mentioned in post #1 to the build.prop and remove any duplicates. The zip can be used to add ANY lines to the build.prop. You just add the lines to the tweaks.txt file inside the zip. I did not create the zip. I just modified it to put the 3 lines mentioned in there.
Code:
lpa.decode=false
tunnel.decode=false
lpa.use-stagefright=false

Flash the removable script from cm 12.1 thread. It's on first page. Then supersu, and then v4a.. That's how I managed to make it work.

You must mean a different "cm 12.1 thread" that unjustified dev's cause I don't see a "removable script".
Yes, I'm sorry. Here is the DL link https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=95916177934545546 and the thread is one for gapps in the first post of cm12.1 .

Yes, you do have to disable Audio FX unless you want to try and use both with V4A in compatible mode. I wouldn't recommend it though.

Thanks for the guide..installed v4a tonight....seems to be working fine with spotify and bluetooth. I didn't use @Nikola Jovanovic's "cleaner" because it seemed to remove alot than just a few music apps...I used titanium backup to uninstall audiofx and I have n7player full installed (was free on amazon appstore)...haven't used it yet though.
It does, but really I don't see the reason to not apply it. Google cam is better than cm's, viper + n7 is better than apolo + audio fx.. So on, and so for..

It seemed to be doing something with vending.apk which is the google play store...I didn't want to chance that getting deleted. I use google calendar and it looked like it might delete it as well...will have to research when I have time and maybe modify.
It may also be the cause of apps crashing, but haven't experienced any reboots as the other users.
GPS stays on your phone, it deletes aosp cal but I installed Google calendar for that purpose.
It would be awesome if you could modify it in that way so the bloatware is cleaned but all other core apps are intacted.

What do you think about Phonograph? Is it a valid music player, speaking of audio quality?
I just finished installing. All works fine so far. Testing some settings but think it's an improvement over "stock"sound. I really like the jetAudio music player. Been using it for a long time and think it's one of the best out there.
Thanks !
Thanks!!
Thank you! Works amazing with PowerAmp and Sennheiser Momentum On-Ear. Thought that sound was amazing already but now It's 200% better!
Or if you don't want to root simply use DFX player.... ?

Anyone still gets stuttering, even with this installed? This is problem that happens to me with every player I tried. The one that gives less stutters and skips remains jetAudio... Is it a Lollipop problem?
Can't flash selinux patch, help please?
After testing custom and official ROMs I'm gonna review them here to help ppl chose there rom
I'm planning to keep this up to date as far as I can

Any comparison review between global and China? Things that are not working on China or things that are exists only in global? Problem with Google services in China?
Thanks in advance since I'm thinking moving forward from global since long time now there is no proper update...
I too get wifi issues with pixel experience. After some time (maybe 10 minutes or so) the wifi constantly drops and does not work even though it shows as being connected, but I've found this issue persists for all oreo roms for the mi 6, even miui, so this issue for me is not specific to pixel experience. On 7.1.2 I have no such issues.

Well you have to deal with Chinese apps like 20 of them also there's only a few languages mostly Chinese and English and there are some parts that stays Chinese like the search app,tho you can't switch it to Google search app
You can install google apps easily but you can't set Google assistant on the home button
That's it nothing more if u can live with that switch to it

hi, anyone tried the mokee rom?
why there is no thread about this rom here?
i saw they have an Oreo for mi6. i had mokee on my
zuk z2 pro and it was the best.

You can always use system app remover to remove chinese content. And if you dont want any chinese character under the full system, you can install xiaomi.eu. You can switch search app to google. You can set google asistant to home button.
Nothing you say is actually makes sense

1)I got over 204000 with antutu
2)No touch glitches in my phone.
3)Not really, it can fixed in various way. In my case i was able to fix it, just by disabling all my magisk modules.
4)Of course, the idea is to be mimic a Pixel phone
5)That´s something you change in photos settings. So not really a con
6)How it is a "con". Treble will help us to get new version of Android faster but that´s when NEW version of Android roll out like P. At this point, Trebel is a nice thing to test and see how the GSI behave

Well I'm talking about my experience about the rom you didn't have to panic tho i know some bugs are not there on some phones but i know alot of ppl had the same bugs
Also I'm not an idiot i know you can't change the setting in the photo app on PE
I didn't write treble i wrote "no treble" which means that it's bad it doesn't have treble yet
Next time read stuff carefully
Btw I'm happy about your reply so ppl know that it's possible to get your solid experience on PE which I couldn't by doing everything possible. Peace

To me all the same but with popkern kernel r27c schedutil governor improved active battery usage and deep sleep works so idle drain is almost zero overnight (Systemless xposed for greenify, amplify and naptime).
Also I was waiting for things to get stable enough to update to oreo but there was another thing that made me stay in nougat: a working dolby atmos + viper4android setup. That oreo atmos port from axon 7 wasn't to my taste - I like classic atmos' virtualizer and volume leveler ratios - but finally have found a port that works in DotOS 2.1. For viper, the first one in magisk repo works well.
From 100% to 30% with a lot of flashing mods, getting stuck in mi logo then restoring system+vendor backups from twrp (yes I'm pretty quick when I'm impatient) in first 1 hour, in total more than 7 hours of SOT and 2 hours idle and battery didn't even go higher than 37°C. Quickcharge works (3A) and also it doesn't heat too.
That dolby oreo zip (not a magisk module):
Any more ROM reviews?
I'm currently looking for AOSP-based ROM that drain moderately slow during usage and have no WiFi battery drain problem.
im currently on xiaomieu but idk which miui rom is best does anyone have any recommendations (preferably with ota updates)? Thanks in advance

To be honest I've switched back to 0401 dotOS the next day I've wrote that comment because there were some wakelock issues with the popkern. And dot (0401) has gcam fix to its date so it's working out of box (after enabling camera2 api). And I've also tried a few (oreo compatible they say) dolby atmos ports but in the end I gave up because it's not the same atmos like the older versions. I like it's virtualizer and volume leveler (it does increase volume levels dynamically for different frequencies so I could use viper to decrease them all while dolby was on, so the hissing sounds would be gone. Like a noise gate you know). But again the oreo version isn't the same and not to my taste.
Finally I've ended up tweaking with viper, adding some reverb etc and also the viper devs seem like they wanted to have a leveler like dolby atmos (old) so they've added more controllability to the playback gain control. Plus enabled the viper ddc so I've got a profile like my old viper+atmos setup.
