Hello guys, im new on XDA and i need some help.
I'm from Chile and i have a Zte Blade L3 but i have some problems:
1.- I dont have the Lollipop update yet, idk if it's a problem of Claro Chile (operator) or somethin but i really want that update .
2.-I have a problem with the memory space, i have the original partition divided on 2 and it's unnecesary :/ my SD Card is useless because of that
(Sorry for the english if you can't understand, apologies)
Hi SharkyCk, you still there. I don't have L3 so my advice is just "general",
1, don't worry about Claro Chile, you with xda now, root your phone and get some custom Roms. I'm presuming you got access to a Pc. If not you can still get there, its just gonna take longer!
2, With Pc, plug in your phone. you need to install a program on your Pc, I used Mini tool partition wizard free, I think I just conected phone as USB or it could have been media device, i didn't have to remove sd card, and you need to delete the 2nd partition (Ext 2,3,4,?) and then expand the remaining partition to take up all space/memory. Or maybe you saying that your sd card is just "dead", in which case you must buy another

How do you expand the remaining partition to take up all space/memory? When I use Mini tool partition I have access to the sd card and to the 2nd partition (fat32 internal sd memory) I could delete that one, but how can I expand the 1st partition if Mini tool partition doesn't show it.

I'm kind a desperate... My SD-card is unuseable right now...
Didn't know exactly where to post...
Hi all
I'm desperate.
Just wanted to reformat my SD card. Wasn't possible right away since I've partitioned it in 3 (fat-ext2-ext3) with my formerr HTC Desire.
I deleted the fat partition, and now the card isn't recognized and I cannot reallocate the large partition.
I'm using a Samsung SGS (i9000). But clockwork recovery doesn't allow me to format SD-card?
I've tried Paragon Harddisk Manager, and Diskman4. Windows7 devicemanager doesnt allow anychanges either...
Please help
i found a solution. Couldn't get it to work in windows 7. Tried almost everything. The thing that worked was entering recovery on my old htc magic and partitioning the card from there.
Just wanted to let you guys know if you should end up in the same situation...
Regards
Hi,
I'm using wp7 now for more than 2 months and i am quite happy. i can do everything i want to. but now i wanted to install android, so that i can dual boot both of them.
as i have only one 16gb sd card i followed the steps mentioned in the 3rd method, here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=913815 .
But Partition Wizard Home Edition only shows one partition of 200 mb. now i cant really delete the bigger one and create a new one.
maybe you can tell me what i am doing wrong and find a solution. furthermore i am not sure about the right android version i have to use, because i don't know the meaning of nand, sd , magldr...can i use this one
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=970542 ?
Hi bluffmaster26,
On my notebook card reader i also can't see partitions on my 16gb sd card. But everything is ok when i use external USB card reader. Try with such card reader.
did u try it on a different computer?sometimes windows 7 gets messed up?
if that doesnt work, try to post your mini partition screenshot,
i have a 16 gb sd card as well. working gr8
(dont forget to thanks the developers )
hey all,
andreyyor tipp helped.
thanks a lot!!
Hello all, i'm new and noob in the android OS and tablets and stuff, so i'l need a little help from you if you would like...i've got a dell streak 5 and somehow i managed to open it and mount an internal micro sd card 8GB class 10 and i installed a android 2.2 on it with the fast boot and qdl tool. now when i try to install some apps i always receive the following msg: sorry, there's not enough space to install this item. i have a 6.4 gb of free space so...what's the problem here? it is not formatted ? and if is not how should i do this?
please help
try to unmount the external sd and try again
U need to research which card are compatible with the streak... I think it only recognizes 2 or 4gb idr
But anywho, you can't just throw in a big card without even seeing if it'll work first..

That's not true. I have an 8gb card on mine class 4 and works good.

I did it and worked. Obviously the internal card is just for apps... is he intents to use it as media, he has to make the hack on the link
well, thanks for your help, but i recall i'm a noob and i'm going to remain a noob until i can understand you language. do stuff like linux hack os not so simple for me. yes, i can do it with a proper tutorial or so...so, if you already did this, please take me step by step like a tutorial.
i'll really appreciate your help

If you want the internal SD for apps, but open it, change you internal SD, and make a factory reset (NOT from the custom recovery, use the Dell screen).
Or do you mean to open your Dell?

You didn't format it before inserting the new card? The internal sd should be ext3 like this:
Code:
/dev/block/innersd0p5 /cache ext3 rw,nosuid,noatime,nodiratime,errors=continue,commit=99999,data=writeback 0 0
/dev/block/innersd0p6 /data ext3 rw,nosuid,nodiratime,errors=continue,commit=99999,data=writeback 0 0
I don't know how you could install the rom without having acorrect partition type on your sd card, though. Check to see using 'adb shell mount' on your PC. To format the sd card, you'd need a program like parted.
Hope it didn't misunderstand your problem.
yes, i installed android 2.2 without formatting the micro-sd card. if i'm correct, you'll need ext3 partition for the apps, not for the os. or it's done auto when i did this with the qdltool software.
i'll try something else and i'll post the result here
I am very new to rooting, but I've installed CM7.1 on the Nook's EMMC without any hiccups. I want to flash the Mirage ROM on there, but when I put my Sandisk 8gb class 4 mSD card into my computer via USB reader, it shows I have very little space and thus am not able to copy any zip files. I've read around about partitions and such, but I wanted to ask the xda community before I try anything.
Again, I'm running on complete internal memory and would like to make use of the 8gb card to install different ROMs, etc.
Any ideas? Would really appreciate the help.
If you used the SD card for installation in the first place then it would have been partitioned with just a small boot partition to do the installation work. After you have it on emmc then the instal stuff on the SD is not needed any more and you restore the card back to its full size 8GB with just one partition for normal external storage use. You can either use the HP USB format tool or a partition manager. This will give you the full 8GB on the SD available for use by CM7.
If you then want to replace / update the emmc ROM you just connect to PC with USB, turn on USB storage and the PC will see the 8GB card completely. No need to ever take the SD out. You copy across any ROM zips you need and then reboot into recovery. The recovery then allows you to flash the zips that you put on the SD.
**Edit**Sorry to Bob, I mis-read initially***
You can use the HP USB format tool HERE to regain the full size of the card after using it as a boot disk.

I think your first paragraph is completely true but the 2nd paragraph is deadly wrong. And if I'm wrong, I own you an apology.
To OP, as bob stated in his first paragraph, if you have been using your 8GB Sandisk uSD as an installer (CwMR image and ROM files), then yes, when you plug it in the PC, PC only see about 100+ MB. In order to regain fully 8GB, you have to reformat it again (using many tools out there).
BIG NOTE: if later, you need to update ROM again, you MUST create a flashable uSD again. So, my recommendation:
1. Get a cheap 1GB or 2GB uSD card and use it just for installer. Use your 8GB Sandisk as addition storage or
2. Use your 8GB Sandisk as an installer and LEARN how to flash/install ROM from ROM Manager. I DID NOT use this option so I don't have any experience. I can't help. From what I read from other members, this is a very good way to update ROM, quick and easy but it requires flashing CwMR into the eMMC, which I don't want to. This way will eliminate the process of insertion/removal the uSD off the NC. Other members will help you throuh.
To bob,
About your 2nd paragraph of updating ROM via USB, I don't think it works that way. If it does and has been verified, I am blast to learn from you.
I may be reading the OP's issue incorrectly but I think he/she wants to keep the bootable SD card for future repairs and updates and just drop additional ROMS to install on it. Since the original imaging only formats about as much as was originally needed the rest of the card remains unformatted. All that needs to be does is to use a utility like EaseUs Partition Manager (free) to stretch the existing partition to recover the remaining space. Then he/she can drop ROM .zips on it to his/her heart's content and flash them. I have several (including the 1.3 stock ROM) on my original installations SD card just for that purpose.

Yeah that's basically what I'm trying to do. Just need Windows to recognize that there is more space and so I guess I have to use the EaseUs Partition program. Any steps on what to do or is it a pretty self-explanatory software?

It is pretty self explanatory. You just highlight the partition and drag the button to the right to increase the size. After that you have to "complete" the process because at that point it is still waiting for you to make a final decision. It has been so long since I used it I can't recall the final instruction.

I do use this method to install new zips all the time but maybe I wasn't clear that you use recovery to select and install the new zip from the SD card. You do not need to remove the SD card and use a new SD installer to put a new ROM on. When you put CM7 on emmc using the standard eyeballer method then you have clockwork on emmc.
So from an emmc install with a re-formatted SD which has all space available as a normal single partition user space.
1. Plug in USB and mount the drive.
2. Copy the new ROM zip onto root of SD card.
3. Unmount drive
4. Press power key for a few seconds to get menu and Select reboot into recovery.
5. In recovery then do whatever wipes are felt necessary and then select install zip from SD card. You will see the new ROM in the file list. Select and install.
6. Reboot system
Steps 4 and 5 can also be initiated by using ROM Manager.
Now it is also worth having a backup small SD installer card but you do NOT need this for routine ROM updating; only if something goes drastically wrong.
It is also good to reduce the number of times the SD card is swapped around. It can be fiddly and there is always the small risk of damaging the slot which is then very bad news.
First of all, I don't use "standard eyeballer method", in fact, I don't know what that is.
Secondly, I don't want to install CwMR into the eMMC.
Maybe those are the differences.
Hi, can anyone explain to me this app and how to make it work? Didn't find any good up to date tutorial.
Here is some info:
-I have TWRP rooted stock rom (SM-G935F)
-SanDisk extreme pro 64gb microSD card
-Plus version of Link2SD
-Pro version of MiniTool Partition wizard
Just can't make it work...So here are my questions:
-Can I use whole SD card as internal storage link? Or do I need 2 partitions, one classic mass storage, second one for linking? I am not planning to remove card from phone.
-Do I have to make some storage label in MiniTool, or can I keep it blank? And what about partition letter? For example G: , or can I set None?
-Can I use linked storage partition from computer via cable as MTP?
-What partitions are viable for S7 edge? And is there speed difference? (ext2/ext3/ext4) ... I was trying Fat32+ext4 and then whole card as ext4, phone always tells me card is broken and need format and I am at beginning again.
-If I somehow manage to make this phone to recognise it, how to actually use Link2SD app?
There are some topics and videos out there, but I didn't find anything up to date or in english.
Keep in mind I am just ordinary user who somehow managed to root his phone only becouse of this app - to expand low internal storage, without any knowledge about android, linux and filesystems. I just need to move some huge games to SD completly with obb.
Thanks for any advice.
Im having the the same issue with using Link2SD on my SM-G935F... Ive tried partitioning the sd card in every possible combination and still get a 'corrupt storage'' issue from the ext extention partition when rebooting my handset. From what I can tell its the actual Samsung firmware thats been rewritten to read the external storage differently due to their lack of foresite of allowing adoptable storage (code written out of their versions of Marshmellow 6.0 +, same as Sony for the Xperia range)... Fingers crossed a work around is found sooner rather than later as Link2SD is a lifesaver for releasing data and obb files from internal storage
I don't really know but I think the ext SD card is used as storage and even with solid explorer and similar file managers you have to grant permission before deleting or even creating a folder else it'll fail so I think you have to configure adoptable storage in order to be recognize as part of SD card to be used with Link2SD and also I haven't seen an update for Link2SD for a very long time.

I also have the same problem. I tried ext2 and ext4 as the second partition. Allowing 4GB until 1.5GB partition because according to the old guides, it can only process up to 1.5GB of second partition. But still, it always says it's corruted, there was a time when It was successfully read by the app but after restart, the problem returns. There was even a time where the FAT32 partition was the one that is not recognized
Sooooooooooo....
is there any solution to this yet ? cannot find Anything STILL !

Same here. Link2sd is not working (mount script error) anymore on S7 Edge (SM-G935FD). System crashed and did factory reset. Hope this issue could resolve soon.
I have the same problem, witch I think is specifically for this model (SM-G935F). Its seems that even rooted, it has some security on system folders, that prevents necessary mounts be done
I tried a mod where I can use the sd card to be seen as internal memory, but that mod pushes all apps to the sd card, and if affect performance of apps like facebook and other apps I use daily
in my previous phones I used to use linl2sd and I was in control which apps to link to sd card, and I would never choose facebook or whatapp , I used to link big games only
Is there a way to make link2sd work on s7e instead of the silly mod that pushes all apps to sdcard
