Rattling Speakers! - Nexus 6P Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Been using my phone for a bit over a day now and I noticed that the bottom speaker has a slight rattling noise to it, especially at full blast. It's almost as if the speaker is too loud for its own good. It is really noticeable with higher-pitched tunes, such as the one from the following link:
https://youtu.be/GYtck_85rJQ
Can anyone test this out and confirm?
Volume-wise, they seem to be pretty even. However, as someone who listens to music a lot, I know this is going to drive me crazy.
By the way, this issue is obviously not present when connected to a headphone or via Bluetooth. So its definitely the speaker itself.

My phone has a rattle on the top speaker. I received a new device from Google which had a jaundice yellow screen but no rattle. I sent back the device with the bad screen and will request another RMA for the original device.

I read this & gave mine a good shake. I'm good but I'm glad you posted to look out for it.

Just tested on 2 phones, both seem fine.

I'm pretty sure he means the noise the speaker makes while playing music, not a physical rattle from shaking the device.

Yes. It's more like a buzzing sound when something high pitched is playing. As if the speaker can't handle the loud volume.

Oh I see. Ok I tested the video and mine is fine. The speakers don't sound over driven.

@akarol, what's the manufacturing date of your 6P? To see your manufacturing date, boot into the bootloader and select "Barcode". One of the barcodes should have a date, mine was October 31st. I'm curious to see if the speaker rattle issue is particular to some 6Ps manufactured on certain dates. I'm pretty sure I experienced some slight rattling on my bottom speaker while playing the music rhythm game Deemo. It doesn't really bother me that much though, and it would be too much of a hassle for my parents if I were to RMA the device, especially so soon after I just got it.

Got mine 2 weeks ago from Best Buy Canada, but didn't notice that issue at first. I suspect that this may be amplified by time, or maybe I just didn't pay attention at firt. I did what you said to see the manufacturing date and mine is October 24th. Maybe this is specific to early production devices. I am gonna exchange it in store today and see if the new one is fine.
Can anyone with this issue confirm if the new one is fine or the same?
Thanks.

I think it's present on all devices and those who say aren't there just don't have the ears for it. I'm on my 3rd RMA and it's still there. All 3! I'll probably just keep the original device.

The video you posted doesn't cause it for me. However, the launch screen of clash of clans does. Ah well.

About 3 days ago I started noticing this issue on mine. Mainly, when I was receiving a text, the tone sounded really over-driven for the speaker.
Then I was watching a YouTube video today, and I noticed it a lot. I honestly think it's the speaker itself slightly rattling with high pitched noises.
Kind of disappointed in this. I don't feel like sending it back, but it's sad. Maybe a kernel with a good amount of audio control can solve this. Maybe if I could tune down the highs a bit.
I don't have Nexus Protect or anything, but I know the device is still covered under warranty. Is this something that could easily be claimed under warranty, or probably not?

I honestly think it's a design that flaw. I have it in all 3 of my speakers. All 3 of them it's with the bottom speaker. I don't think RMAing or sending it in would solve anything. Maybe some time after when it's been addressed. I'll learn to live with this knowing that I don't usually keep these things past a year anyways.

My current issue is with the top speaker, instead of the bottom. And my top speaker is getting progressively worse. It's a very annoying buzzing/high pitched static noise that comes with almost any sound. Notifications, alarms, phone ringer, YouTube videos, etc. Its getting worse, and so I submitted an RMA and have a replacement coming out.
Since you say yours is with the bottom, and mine is strictly with the top, it sounds interesting.
Mine is almost bad enough though that you wouldn't want to live with it. I'll try and get a recording of it.

anyone have any updates on this? I just got mine nexus 6p about 2 weeks ago and it's been driving me nuts. The top speaker has a buzzing sound when playing certain videos, songs or notification tones. One specifically is the "Tethys" notification tone that causes the buzzing pretty badly. I have tried viper4android and tried every configuration possible and it still has the buzzing. Has anyone managed to get a device that does not have this issue?

I've got this similar problem too, with my top speaker. Testing my speakers with this video: https://youtu.be/qNf9nzvnd1k?t=54s top one starts buzzing at approximately 250 Hz, even on half of the volume. Bottom speaker is crystal clear (maybe with exception of 100% volume, but I'm ok with this). After reading this thread's posts I'm not sure if I should send it back on warranty, especially that my N6P is free of any other flaws.
Interesting: bootloader barcode screen shows 12-10-2015 - that's quite old unit, considering the fact that I bought it in the middle of January...

Honestly, I went through 3 and they all had some rattling. Over the months, I haven't noticed it anymore. Either I forgot about it, or it actually improved. As long as the volume is even on both, I wouldn't risk getting a worse device.

I have the exact same problem with top speaker buzz, really noticeable with the tethys notification sound and in youtube videos with deeper sounds. I have tried RMA'ing twice, the first one the speakers were perfect but had a screen problem so I sent it back and kept my original, and the second had the exact same speaker problem so I kept the original again. I am very frustrated with this. A question I have though is when I just leave my finger on the left corner of the speaker that buzzes, it stops buzzing. Has anyone tried any home repairs? What if we were to put a drop of super glue in the left corner of the speaker? is that likely to fix the problem? I appreciate the help guys.

[Q] 1 or 2 speakers?

I'm confused. I thought I heard stereo sound when I first got it, now it sounds like it's more from the right side. I'm on the phone with Asus now. The guy thinks I only have one speaker. I'm looking on both ends and see little holes on both sides. Can someone confirm if this has stereo speakers or a mono speaker?
this is a known issue.
many having the same issue where sound louder on one side.
edit: and there are two speakers
I plugged it into my car and the right speakers were louder then my left .. weird

same here... but I emailed EVERY name I could find on the net of people at the US HQ and a tech actually called me(not one from the call center) and was VERY helpful. I too have the right side speaker louder than the left. Many thought it was a software issue but the tech said none of the ones in the office were doing that and were even(he checked after he saw my email) and were running the same FW. He believes it's a HW issue, like maybe there was a batch that was affected, or maybe it was the first batch (he confirmed my dock was from the first batch) So he is going to use my unit to figure out what the problem is and hopefully then they will be able to resolve everyone's that's having an issue. My replacement will be here tomorrow and I ship out the one with the lower left volume to him so hopefully we find out officially what is causing this.
Trust me the call center is useless!! They said the same thing to me about it running windows 7. After my email the tech at HQ said they have been discussing it a lot and are going to work to get the call center up to speed and know the product off the top of their heads(the call center is in Jamaica btw)

You mean the right speakers of your car were louder? That would indicate that it is a sw problem instead of a hw problem as graffixnyc suggested.
I knew it wasn't one speaker. I've had the unit for 2 weeks and all of a sudden I only hear from one side. Not that the left side is a little weaker, but none from the left side at all. I'm going to go ahead and do the RMA. Either it's cheap hardware with the speakers (the Transformers is a cheap $$$ you know compared to the other tablets) or I blew out the speaker. It was working fine for two weeks where the audio was centralized without any issues. The last thing I remembered doing before this happened was clearing out the Market cache. I doubt that would've caused this.

Let us know how this goes - I've got the same issue.
I'm hoping it's software, as they can just send out a patch. I'd rather not RMA the unit, but if they determine it's a hardware issue, I'll contact them and get mine swapped out.
Ok. I loaded up some stereo tests from youtube and the left speaker is dead. Try this link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e8ODm-F9-IM I think this is a hardware issue and not a firmware issue.
My left speaker isn't dead, just less loud. All I need is a balance control. Hmmm, somewhere I have a sound dB meter, have to dig that out and measure the relative outputs.
I had the same issue with left speaker dead. first it was crackling/popping/distorted then dead. Asus gave me a DOA code to give to the retailer for a new one. New one has no speaker issues but does have light bleed which I can live with.
The joys of being cutting edge in tech.
I'm not sure what to do now. Should I get a refund from Amazon and purchase another one or send this one in to Asus?
I just tested mine; received around may 2nd from amazon (ordered on the 26). Speakers seem fine; definitely has right/left and volume is not hugely different. I'm still on the .6 firmware since the .9 is not available ota.
I got my Transformer yesterday, I've just tested the sound and the right speaker is louder than the left. I'm on the latest firmware.
Edit: Do people using different rom's also have the speaker issues?

Actually a pretty good test. Left seems to be working but definitely less volume and body then right...
Awesome. Definately working, seems quieter, but not by as much as I'd have thought...
Just a note guys, I thought my left speaker was dead and tried the speaker test on youtube. At first it sounded like it was only coming out of the right and it was definitely missing a beat, so I was like "efff ..rma time." Then I played it again and it sounded like it was coming from the left only, so I tried it with headphones on and it was still messed up, and my music sounded wack.
So I just ended up doing a full system reboot and it worked fine afterwards, albeit a small difference in volume if anything. This must be a software issue, I'm sure we'll get a fix soon, ASUS is good about that.
I'm going through the exact same thing. Just opened mine up today. I'm letting the IPS flaw of backlight leakage in certain parts go but every song I play is louder in the right speaker and the left is really low. I'm not trying to overlook your hard work but any help you can provide would be great as to where to start contacting Asus. I don't want to call Jamaica...
My Right Speaker is now dead but it worked last week. The HDMI and headphone jack outputs both speakers.
What did everyone else end up doing on this thread to resolve this? Did it end up as an RMA?

Nexus 7 speaker defective!!!!!

I am currently in the process of sending back my nexus 7 because of a pretty defective speaker. The speaker crackles and pops when played above 40% . It basically renders sound on this thing without headphones as a boon starter.
I have two questions to the forum:
1) is anyone else experiencing this problem?
2) is it true that the problem stems from too much power behind sent to the speaker chip. A guy on another forum reckoned it could be fixed with software but I severely doubt that. I think the speaker is just damaged or loose
Kind Regards

If it helps, I had a similar problem with distortion of certain audio over 50% volume. Fixed it by installing Equalizer and reducing the for the faders two lowest frequency bands.
I can now run full volume without issue.
I think one of theverge people had this as well. I think Topolsky, in their latest podcast said "I liked the speaker" while his disgruntled colleague said speaker was bad. Looks like defect number three has reared its head (screen separation, digitiser fault).
Mine is broken too
I just got off the phone with Google. As soon as I mentioned distorted sound above 50% volume they said It was defective. They are sending me a new one within a week with a box and shipping for the bad one. I'm pretty sure they've been dealing with this a lot. They aren't the manufacturer so they aren't going to dispute or question a bad product. They know they initial bad reviews about sound could destroy sales.
I'm pretty sure that ASUS installed speakers that can't handle the output frequencies. Doubt they have a fix but maybe Google could update the code to meet the speaker frequency range while allowing the headphone jack to retain full audio range. A generic across the board equalizer adjustment might fix the internal speaker issues but would ruin the headphone usage. I just a thought.

It works but makes external speakers and headphones sound terrible. Great idea though. It will have to do until I get a new one. Since so some people aren't having sound issues I'm going to exercise my warranty rights until I'm satisfied.
I've just run into this exact same problem. Looks like I'll also be lodging a RMA for "speaker crackles above 50% volume" with Google.
I have distortion at volumes above 60 % however it varies with material. Cinema Paradiso theme music seams to have the perfect tones to rattle the speaker on mine.
I am not sure if this is normal as mine sounds better than the MP3 of this I was listening to above. I really don't want to be parted from my Nexus. Still I am disappointed that the speaker is impractical for film watching when on trips.

The replacement device I received yesterday, which has screen lift issues (3rd device with the same problem) now has speaker/ headphone jack issues. I left it turned on and charging yesterday evening for about 2 hours and when I came back to unplug it the device was stuck at the Google boot up screen and the back/bottom of the device was 127 degrees (I have an infrared temperature gun). Now the speakers and headphones can barely be heard with the volume all the way up. Hopefully the third replacement will not have any problems.
Bleh was starting to think I had a good one but was in denial about the speaker problem. Glad I found this thread so I try to get a better one. All these mfg defects it's like you won the lottery when u get a good one. Lol
Got a nexus with the same issue, it honestly does not bother me as I use my headphones a majority of the time. I rather dig in there then to send it in and have a risk of getting a unit with other issues

This worked for me after all. I'll be honest one day my nexus got really hot when charging. Played some music after and it had blown out. It seems that the bass is the reason for the popping sound.
I have the same problem ... my right speaker sounds like a trash can -.-
edit:

called google... getting a new device -.-
Same problem here, got RMA a few hours after I sent in the request. New one should be here in a couple of days.
Mine work fine for 2 months and 1 morning I got this cracking and distorted sound at 40%
I did nothing wrong with my tablet and rarely use the speakers....
Well, I was showing a friend how to do voice input. Using SwiftKey. He held the microphone /comma key down continuously - and the nexus screamed. Not his fault. Wouldn't boot up for 5 minutes. Thought it was a gonner. It did boot up eventually, but the speaker is well and truly zapped. Distorted even at the lowest volumes. Unintelligible above 20%.
I was thinking of spending 20 quid to buy a replacement speaker and replace it myself - but it looks like it's a design fault to me (after much Googling). It'll only blow again, will it not?
So maybe a bluetooth speaker...? Anyone tried one? And if you like it, which one?
Steve

It's good to know that I'm not the only one to have this problem. Well... I don't know if it's a good thing, but whatever...
I've been using my N7 for exactly 1 month, and one day to the next, the sound is crispy. Under 40% everything sounds great, but above, it's very crispy, very ugly as if the speaker was saturated.
I've just contacted Google and they will replace it by a new one. I just hope that the one I will receive will not have any issue.

[Q] Anyone have an earpiece that does NOT buzz or click?

We always see posts about people having issues, but not always when people don't have any problems. I was wondering if there are any Nexus 4 owners that DON'T have the earpiece buzz/click problem. Basically, in a quiet room, I have the screen off and I still can here buzzing and clicking noises in the phone's earpiece. I have no sim card in my phone and still here the noise with the screen on or off. I have contacted google and they are mailing me a replacement in 3-5 days.

Ok this is good to know. I hope my replacement device doesn't have the earpiece noises or I will send it back again! Sucks to wait a week though.
Yeah my first n4 had this issue and so does its replacement so I rma'd it as well. Hoping phone number 3 is good.
I have a very faint (almost unhearable) ticking - I can only hear it in a quiet room if I press my phone hard to my ear.
I can hear it on mines when I'm in a quiet place. Also, keep in mind that it is high frequency noise, so some people (typically older people) can't hear it even if it is buzzing. I have great hearing, but MOST of my coworkers can't detect the buzz from my phone at all.

Poll: Does your HTC One's speaker pop/crackle?

I know there's threads regarding this issue, but I want to see just how many HTC One owners are experiencing this issue exactly. Whenever you play any audio on the HTC One, there tends to be a popping sound after the audio is done, approximately 2 seconds after. It's noticeable in a quiet environment, and also whenever watching YouTube videos the audio cracks.
So, test out your phone. Play any audio on your phone, put your ear close to the front speakers and listen for any crackling or popping once the audio is done.
On a similar note: Those who got the latest OTA update of 1.29, has the update fixed this issue?
Thanks.

Yes, already posted in the other threads. Still waiting on OTA update to see if it helps...
its the speaker turning off. i just tried the same thing on my galaxy s2 and it made the same sound after 2 seconds.
I just noticed this today.
Pretty sure the previous handsets didn't have this popping sound. Is it a fault? Seems to be at the end of audio like the volume rocker but I noticed it when in silent aswell . That doesn't make sense.
I think it's too much power going to the amp. Fixable in a software update I imagine. I just recently noticed my nexus 4 does it from time to time.

I don't know if this is the same thing, but my speaker crackles like crazy at times. For example, if I run this app on my Nexus 7, it sounds normal. Run it on my One, though, and its constantly crackling and sounding like my speakers are blowing out.
Mine doesn't crackle, but one of the speakers (bottom) is louder than the other. Also, the top one completely died a few hours ago, which was remedied by a soft reset. Looking into an exchange.
Mine crackles when I watch YouTube videos too. I haven't noticed it on anywhere else (playing RR3 the sound is good).

Mine crackles and pops during audio playback, most noticeably YouTube. It doesn't happen every time but it definitely happens every once in awhile.
It's about the only flaw my phone has and I'm going to be patient enough to wait and see if an update corrects this problem. If it doesn't, I think I'll live with it because I'm not extremely picky or OCD like some of the people on here.

Turn off the beats audio in the setting and the crackling will stop my htc one has that same problem when watching YouTube videos only and turning off beats stopped it try it let me know if that helps
I just noticed it for the first time tonight watching YouTube videos. Some videos had the crackle and snapping, some didn't. I watch videos every night on the phone and this is the first I've noticed it. Hopefully a software update fixes it.
I'll have to try turning off Beats when watching YouTube and see if that works.

May be another defect
This may be another defect. I love the HTC One but quality control is a problem. I got a 64 GB developer edition and had no big gaps (extremely slight gap at the top) or other defects but my screen was not glued on correctly. The top of the screen was higher than the speakers and every time I dragged my finger across the notification bar I felt a catch. I ordered another one and planned to return the original. I looked at the original and noticed a few differences. For reference my original one is HT34GW###### and the newest one is FA34PW######
1. Original one had only a slight gap, new one also had a gap but was a little bigger and longer
2. Original one has a very high color temperature. Never noticed this until I saw it side by side with the new one. Original whites are very blue and new one looks much better. I don't mind the blue color temperature but it is most pronounced looking at a pure white screen, a pure black screen, and skin tones. The human eye has an amazing ability to adjust to color temperature based on a "known" white. Anandtech gave this phone a great review but criticized it's very high (8000K+) color temperature. Must have had my original one.
3. The new one speaker's pop/crackle. Exactly the problem stated in this thread. Original one never does this. I played some videos side by side at the exact same time using max brightness and volume and the original sounded great and the new one had a pop/crackle at certain times. The new one also had more noise/hiss. Not extremely noticeable but it was there. When using two units side by side it is noticeable only on max volume and right next to your ear.
4. Maybe I am imagining this, but they seemed to have a different weights. Very slight but the new one seemed a couple of grams heavier.
5. Perhaps this is because of the color temperature differences, but the new one seemed to be more dim when I used automatic brightness. This is probably due to human perception but the blue tint on the original one seemed brighter and clearer at automatic brightness. At full brightness both looked like they had the same resolution and brightness.
6. I haven't used the new one that much to see it heat up but my original one does get very warm with heavy use, while charging, or with max brightness.
7. I will occasionally randomly lose LTE signal and/or see a drastic decrease in reception. If I turn mobile data off, then back on the LTE signal regains full strength. Not sure what this is about.
I think I will keep my original one. The screen being offset is annoying but once my case gets here it won't matter. Great phone. Screen is razor sharp. I always thought 1080p on a cellphone was overkill but now I can say it is not. I am coming from an AT&T Galaxy Note and there is huge difference. RGB kills pentile every time (sorry S4). Even though the screen is only 4.7" the quality more than makes up for the lost screen real estate on my 5.3" note. Sound is amazing (on the original one, as the popping/crackling drives me crazy on the new one).
Hey my friends,
I have my phone now for around a month noted the strange sounds from the beginning, and even after the last OTA the sounds are audible.. but just minor..
Yesterday I got a Whatsapp and the notification sound was really cracky and "dirty" In German I would say "zerrupft"..
I tested it a few minutes with videos and music and the speaker seems to be really broken now..
Tomorrow I will go to the o2 Shop and try to send the phone back and let it repair.. And/or hope tho get a new one..
Cross your fingers!

If you are listening to low quality audio, it will crackle, it will mono quality instead of stereo too.
Try to listen videos/music with bitrate 320 or higher. Or you might have a defect or software issue too, It depends on the phone.
My .wavs seem to crackle worse than my mp3s. Also if turn the preamp too high.
tried some of my flac and normal mp3, also youtube and even the startup sound is cracking, its definitely a hardware defect :crying:
I called to the hotline of o2 and the gave me all the documents to send it back. Hope it goes on warranty :fingers-crossed:
My speakers crackle on few songs and YouTube. Most of the songs plays well,
Should I get a replacement or is this normal?

Yes take it back and deal with gaps and or dead pixels or other issues instead of a occasional crack here in there.

I have a Sprint version that I bought from the spirit store directly. I haven't noticed any popping our crackling noises fir as long as I've had it. Although based on what some people have said regarding this and vibrate motor issues, it does sound like there is a bit of a quality control problem at htc.

Uneven speaker volume

The top speaker on my phone is noticeably louder than the bottom speaker. I've played music and watched videos in portrait and landscape mode and turned it every way to make sure it's not just the orientation. It's even more noticeable when I play this video to check: https://youtu.be/hTvJoYnpeRQ
Anyone else have this problem? Such a bummer because everything else about the phone is absolutely perfect. Gonna wait a few days to see if it gets better but I will probably RMA it. Just wanted to see if anyone else is experiencing this.
Mine is the same way, noticed it yesterday.
Thank goodness mine is consistent. Also not having any issues everyone else is having. Perhaps we should open a thread about where we purchased and list of problems.
Only slight rant I have is 3.5mm jack. My left ear makes little static noise. It's really low sound and stops when something is playing so I won't complain or RMA it. I had same issue with Samsung tablet so I'm just hoping it's a software bug. We'll see.
By the way, I think there is a similar topic on this channel. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3221402
My first one had this problem and only realised when I got a replacement. Way much better sound and volume.

Mine is also the same way. Top speaker is slightly louder. Weird.
Looks like another widespread issue.

This is a frustrating issue. I want to RMA but am worried about having another experience like I did with my Nexus 7(2013) where I have to RMA multiple times only to receive several devices with the same issue. I really love this phone and everything is satisfactory besides the bottom speaker but I'm really considering returning it.

It's a hard decision, cause you can end up with worse device lol but we all should get what we paid for. All should be top notch
I am picking my second replacement tomorrow.

Can this can be tweaked in the mixer paths XML? Or can you not change individual speakers? Mine is maybe very slightly louder at the top but it's hardly noticeable.
The speakers have to be lined up with what are really pretty tiny cut outs in the front glass. There is probably some sort of foam gasket between the speaker and the glass of the screen. The gasket, if there is one, not only directs sound to the cut out, but also sometimes serves as a sort of tiny megaphone and is integral to the acoustics of the speaker.
It is easy to have a slightly misaligned gasked blocking sound, which can have a surprisingly significant effect on the sound quality and volume of a cell phone speaker. So, although I'm just guessing, I bet something like this is the problem (rather than the speaker element itself).
I've seen this sort of thing badly put together in other phones. So it's probaby a quality control issue in the assembly of the phone.

Would you mind playing this video on your replacement? My top speaker is definitely deeper and has better sound than my bottom speaker which sounds tinny and artificial.

Bottom one sounds a bit different but I would say its acceptable. My 1st 6p was definitely more quiet on the bottom speaker. I could hear it without special channel test.

I think its all in my head, damn OCD.
I'm having the same issue with my Nexus 6P (32 GB, Aluminum), which I purchased from the Google Store. I just got off the phone with Google support. They did not offer to replace it and did not seem like they would have even if I pushed them. They're saying that this is how Huawei designed the phone, i.e., it's a design flaw. He also said he would open a ticket for "top-level management" to look into the issue, so there's at least an implicit recognition that something's wrong.
It sounds from what I'm reading like some other retailers are being more lenient with the returns? Something to keep in mind for anyone who hasn't bought theirs quite yet.
I guess for now I'll just enjoy my imbalanced audio. Great phone otherwise though.

Call again, explain you've went through troubleshooting steps. Reboot, reboot to safe mode, trying many different apps to play music/video/etc and bottom speaker is clearly softer in volume. I had the email to RMA about an hour after getting off the phone. Replacement hasn't shipped yet, but is processing. There are people on reddit who had the same issue and have received replacements already and said their first one was definitely defective as the new one is balanced.
I don't know where the rep you spoke to got the idea that it's how it's designed (I've seen that floating around), but that doesn't make any sense, they are supposed to be stereo speakers, which you obviously want to be balanced.

Thanks. I was a bit on the fence as to what to do, but I followed your advice and contacted them again. It took quite a while, and they still gave me the same message that it's a question of design (they said they received an update directly from Huawei about this on October 31), adding this time that they could go ahead and replace the phone, but that the new phone would still have the same speaker imbalance. Well, I figured I'd take my chances with the replacement and see if the imbalance is fixed. I could even hold on to the current one until I get the replacement and then do a comparison.
Unfortunately, as the rep was processing the order he said he couldn't move forward because the system required a reason for returning the device and imbalanced speakers isn't an error or flaw, it's by design. He said I could return the device for a refund and then order a new one, but in the meantime I'd be without a phone. He seemed to spend a fair amount of time trying to find a workaround and speaking with his manager, but all to no avail.
At this point, I've been on the phone for so long today that I'm just going to wait it out for a few days and reassess then. Perhaps I'll get different answers if I call in a few days, or perhaps Google or Huawei will get about to addressing the issue (one can hope, right?).
Hopefully the rest of you will have better luck!
Only way it is going to sound the same volume wise is if both speakers have identical enclosures. Like regular speaker cabinets. One of them probably has more room to breathe and the other one is probably cramped with other components and hence they don't sound the same!
