pin unlock - X Style (Pure) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hi guys, i can't seem to find the settings that would unlock the phone as soon as you enter the pin without punching the enter/return key. sort of like the iphone. once it recognizes the correct pin, it just unlock the phone.
thanks

I don't believe Moto stock has it -- it's a Cyanogenmod feature, and there may be an xposed add-on that may do the same thing (requires root though).

As pinoymutt said, that isn't the way stock Android works. You have to press the enter key on a stock, non-rooted Android device. If you root, you can get any xposed module that allows a 'quick unlock', which bypasses the enter key as soon as the right PIN is entered. It's also a feature on some ROMs, but not on bone stock Android. I wish it was though, I'm using a pattern unlock solely because of this.

[Q] Lock pin; bypass ok button

Ive been out of rooting since my thunderbolt so forgive me here. I want to root mu Verizon S5 and I'm wondering what I need to do after rooting to make it so I dont have to hit the ok button after I input my lock screen pin code. I prefer pin code over all else but I hate the ok button.
Any help would be greatly appreciated
Install Xposed Framework, and then install the Wanam module, under the Lockscreen section you will find "Enable quick PIN unlock" thant will do it for you...

Custom unlock method

I'd like to build a custom screen unlocker with my own unlock method (no sliding). I have different ideas, so let's just assume I'd like to reimplement the 4 digit pin unlock method at first. I've found some hack solutions, which open an app on pressing the power button. But they can't disable the home key, so I can access the phone without knowing the pin number. Some other sources claim, it's not possible without writing a custom loader. So how come, there are so many apps on the store that offer exactly this feature? Can someone please direct me in the right direction?

[Q] How to unlock the screen with fingerprint?

My Samsung S5 (SM-G900F, 4.4) device has a fingerprint scanner to unlock the screen. It was working perfectly, but now it only asks for the alternative password, but I forgot it. I tried on the Google webpage to lock my phone, I hoped that the password given there will be overwrite the alternative password on the phone, but it said, that it found the phone already locked, so no need to use the password. I don't want to do a factory reset if it possible, how could I get the fingerprint scanner to be an option again, or somehow unlock the screen and use my phone?
This happened to me today in the morning on my S5 mini with stock OS. At first I typed in the correct alternative password, but it was not recognized. Latter I successfully (?) changed password with "Lock" option on Android Device Manager, and it didn't help either...
At the end I did a factory reset and lost all my data
Is this a common bug? Should we report it somewhere or something?
After too many failed fingerprint attempts, it will only ask for the password
Maybe someone else has been trying to access your phone
Factory reset to regain access if you don't know your alternative password (Probably a good idea to write that down)

Yes, you are correct. I tested this again, and I think that, in the morning, I really used wrong password . And the first time I didn't notice the displayed info, about password already being set, on Android Device Manager site, when I tried to change the password.
Thanks for the replay

Can't install FoxFi certificate...

So here' s a problem that makes zero sense. When I try to install the certificate for FoxFi and put in my security method of choice (PIN), it will take me to a screen that tells me to draw my unlock pattern even though I never set or initiated one. What's even more funny is that there isn't even a way to draw an unlock pattern when it asks; the input method is for PIN, so all I can do is insert numbers.
Has anyone run into this and knows how to get past it?
Recently installed Foxfi on my wife's Note 3, didn't have any trouble.
Suggestion: go into your security settings and setup a PIN before trying to install the certificate. If it is already setup, it shouldn't prompt for it during the installation.
Are you by chance rooted? I was working with a stock VZW Note 3.

root locked phone (or way to remove lock)

I have this phone and forgot the pattern now I cannot unlock it. It is already on my google account from before it was locked but it looks like there is no way to unlock it without the correct pattern. I tried google's device manager but I don't see any unlocking options although it does locate it and I can make it ring. Is there a way to root this phone over adb and then remove or change the pattern lock?
