can anybody who has seen the LG G4 source on LGE site comment whether this can be easily ported to the G2 ? or are there binary blob dependencies that make it impossible ?

I don't have much idea about development but i think port is partially possible since both are of same OEM. Its been a while and i don't see any surprises here on XDA about G4 port. Its like development has been stopped. But i am putting all my faith on our beloved Cloudyfa that he has something more in his kitchen and cooking something.:fingers-crossed::highfive:
I was really Hoping someone would ask about this. It has been a lot of time since Cloudyfa pushed an update to Cloudy rom And after that The progress has been almost stopped. I hope some dev starts working on a G4 port. I have an F320 so I cant go for cm13 yet.
it's not possible unfortunately, they're both G series, but that's the only common thing in them. Maybe some apps can be ported, or a CM-based g4 style (only themed because of the framework) rom can be made, but that's all.
And last time I checked Cloudyfa hasn't posted anything since Cloudy 3.3, so I'm not sure if he will ever come back.

The Republic Wireless version of the LG Optimus S has been around for a little bit now. I snagged a System dump and the boot.img from mine in the hopes that it would somehow be useful.

http://dl.dropbox.com/u/3825646/system.tgz
The team at Republic Wireless use a heavily modified version of CyanogenMod to make their VoIP service work. Maybe this could be useful to anyone looking to see how they did it, since as far as I know the RW devs never floated any of their work back upstream.
Might want to cross post
You might want to also cross post Android Central Optimus S forum thread. That's where I have seen the most ROMS and development for the Optimus S at.
Also linking in the LG Optimus, P500, V forums here at XDA might be good. No subforum for the S there but they are of the same family.
Was anybody able to get any using useful out of the dump?
Wondering this myself. For instance, if it is possible to flash a Sprint LG Optimus S with the ROM for BYOD? Or reflash your device to achieve stock?
Hey guys. Not sure if you have seen this. Some information about a new LG phone with Firefox OS just came out, the phone is called LG Fireweb. I took a quick peek at the specifications and dimensions of the phone, and it seems almost identical to our good old Optimus L5. It basically has the same layout, only some minor design changes. Could it be possible that the new LG Fireweb borrowed L5's platform?

Not sure about you guys, but I am very curious about this. If both phones have the same hardware, how possible would it be to extract Firefox OS from the new LG Fireweb and install it on our Optimus L5's?
Its not the same, because the cpu is different,it have 1ghz and we have 800mhz.
Maybe it can ported,maybe.
YOURE BORN AS A ORIGINAL,DONT DIE AS A COPY!!!!GREEEEETZ!!!
Well, google "boot2gecko" and will you know how it's made.
Maybe it can be ported, if the essential hardware is almost the same (FireWeb's CPU could be an overclocked version of the MSM7225A).
But since boot2gecko is open source, you can try to download all the sources and try to compile it for our devices (it will be hard, though  ).
don't know you guys know or not but l5 was official b2g device for quite some time
Didnt know this,thanx for info.

Hey guys. I am looking for one person or a few people to help me port Firefox OS on L5 II (e460). And I can help with porting on L5. So, if anyone is interested, let me know. I am currently stuck on some kind of error, but it's not the first one, so... I guess I'm gonna need more than five days to build alpha version of firefox OS for L5. Want help. Or TO help someone.
i would love to help u . i can help u with test builds and other small things . thanks for taking the initiative !
Anyone able to port it to lg g3 d855?
I don t think that our g3 will never run sailfish os!:"(
I'm interested in porting to my LG G2, but to know how to program any of my teachers, and univewrsidad, are interested in free software, and good with my English'm in the middle point, trying to finish and guides in English make me dizzy and do not even know how to start.
They want to help me start the porting ....
See if someone guide me.

I imagine there are the driver of the phone, if I'm not mistaken.
Maybe if our LG g3 would get unlocked.
Sorry, due to clutter, port requests do not belong here.

Hello everyone, the Paranoid Android (AOSPA) team has released their much awaited nougat 7.1.2 build for a handful of devices. Is it possible for the developers to port the rom to our Moto G4 Plus? If so, when can we expect to receive an official AOSPA rom for our device i.e Moto G4 Plus? Thanks in advance to the developers.
Athene is a pretty popular choice around ROMing. (LineageOS has 20795 installs on Athene) I would at least expect an unofficial build made by someone. Let's just hope they release an official build for Athene.
I have come to know that the team officially doesn't provide support for too many devices except Oneplus, Oppo, Pixel and the Nexus ones. So the chance of getting an official build is less. So in that case we have to look for an unofficial build.
Just wondering is there any update on Aospa for athene, official or unofficial?
:good:
Maybe this mean something. I dont know.

Hello all.
The h990DS is one of the very few phones that can take 2 sims and an SD card. It really has an awesome software.
But let's be honest, LG is terrible in both the updates and software departments.
Now that it has root, are there any roms or kernels that support the H990ds? the LG slow software and random lag are killing me.
Roms/kernels developers please add the h990ds support.
Thank you.

Admittedly there isn't much out there, but what there is is what you can find in the Development section of the V20 subforum. The closest thing I've seen to a H990DS kernel is in @emdroidle 's root thread. Someone posted their own fork of an updated kernel there, but I know he's currently working on bringing the 990DS kernel up to date and as stable as possible. That's probably the closest you're going to get for a custom kernel for now. As for ROMs, there's a few AOSP ones, but you lose 2nd screen functionality, at least until the guys in the 2nd Screen bounty thread have got it working (from what I've seen they're making solid progress) so for now, personally, I've opted for the latest stock ROM since I love the second screen.

I really hope rom developers start adding the h990ds to their support list.
Lg make really good hardware, but terrible software.
And we need the community to work on that for the h990ds.
