Hope you can help me since it seems I can't find a solution to this: I have a Galaxy Note 4 (SM-N910F), when I play a 3D game it's smooth for 10-15 minutes then it starts stuttering heavily and the games become unplayable. Using trepn profiler I noticed that the cpu and gpu frequency are really low when using a 3d game (for examole the gpu is stuck at 200 mhz and doesn't want to go up). It seems to happen when the phone heats up a bit but it's not too hot so why the hell does it happen? On my note 3 all games go perfectly :/ (i have android lollipop 5.1.1)

There are TWO ways to solve this issue....follow either one of the methods
METHOD ONE:
{{{{{disable DVFS...use custom kernel and downlock the cpu to 1.9ghz because throttling starts when cpu hits certain temperature...Downclocking the cpu will help you to maintain consistently low cpu temperature which will not trigger cpu n gpu throttling....}}}}}
METHOD TWO:
root ur device
download NOMOne resloution changer from play store
set your resolution in 1920x1080 and set Dpi to 480ppi
select apply...and play any game...it wont lag
after finished playing that game...select restore default settings in NOMone app
Bingo.......adreno 420 runs every game smoothly in 1080p
So Far these are the only 2 methods that i found to be working in Note 4 snapdragon variant

Or use this app: http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/app-gltools-1-29-t2828630
You can configure GPU settings per app like forcing 16 bit or lower resolutions or even emulate tegra chipset to play those games too.
btw u must have ROOT for this.
(for the GearVR users here this does not break the services like xposed framework)

Face the reality. To make Note4 playable in 3d games either chipset you choose, you'll have to root and follow any advice from the posts in this thread.
I couldn't face it though and decided to go for the Mate 8 when it's released. Sam**** don't deserve our money after making fools out of us sam fans.

From what I've heard, Tegra-only effects are bs. In other words, it'll run fine on any hardware that is capable of pushing the extra load (and a Mali-T604 should have no problem with that seeing as it seems to be better then Tegra 3 by a significant bit).
In any case, if someone could get a hold of Fruit Ninja THD Free, that would be a fine test to see if Tegra games can even be played.

There's pages of people using Tegra Effects on non-tegra devices for DEAD TRIGGER, so if anything, it's possible maybe for a few games.
There are plenty of people in the Themes & Apps forum, mentioning that they've got various games working in the N10 gaming thread, so some of them do work, it's just getting hold of the ones you own legitimately that's the difficult part.
I tried modding my build.prop but my market died and failed to connect to the server until I restored it. A reboot at that stage would likely cause you to bootloop so I didn't try rebooting.

That was because it used standard GPU API for the advanced effects, but just turned it on for Tegra only devices... the game itself euns even on non-Tegra devices... any game with Tegra specific API calls will not work... some may start up, but may FC when they reach a point when such a call is made... but most apps written specifically for Tegra check the GPU and don't continue...
Hey I'm back once again with another issue I am really surprised to be seeing LAG or FPS skip on games like temple run 2 or subway surfers when I get no lag on any of my GTA games (I own all 3) the only time GTA starts to lose fps is if I play for an hour PR so logically but like I said I get fps lag on those games that don't require a good CPU and yet even with a beastly phone they lag .. So can anyone help me fix this or know how because its pretty frustrating how one can't play a game like subway surfer without losing his mind ... ADDITITIONAL INFO: the UI of the phone is really fast and I have no problems web browsing or going on apps like fb.

Hi I just bought galaxy s7 edge, phone is amazing but the biggest issue is performance, most games dropping frames below 30fps even temple run 2 or candy crush soda, sky force, heartstone etc. These games where running on may galaxy s5 smooth I'm really disappointed right now and don't know what to do. Is it a hardware or software issue? Can u help me please?
temple run and candy crush works fine on my phone
ye GS7 has the worst gaming performance in flagship device for years, there is not much u can do without root, and even with root the solution is not optimal to use.
U can however disable gameservice which might help or not, u need package disable pro in order to do so if u don't have root.
You mean best gaming perform. Zero issues here
Sent from my SM-G935F using XDA-Developers mobile app
no one of the worst, the fact that u don't have issues does not mean it's working perfect, u might not be able to see it.
Again not all games effected, mine games currently are Tekken on PPSSPP and Angry birds 2 on high levels 200+, both lags so bad it's not funny, Note 5 on 5.1.1 was light years ahead of S7.

i did everything, i can prove that it's the software that throttling the phone, not hardware.
If u disable DVFS via root, 85% of the lag is gone just like that.

Not at all but it will trip knox and your software warranty will wear off.
I just give up to play Need for Speed No Limits on my S7 Edge Exynos. Is just impossible to play after 5 minutes.
Just as a information I played the same game on a old Galaxy S4 Mini witch has much lower hardware specs, and no problems at all. Samsung just lie when says a S7 is a phone for games
the hardware is there, the software is limiting and yes that annoying, guys just spam their twitter account and try to go to higher ranks, if we all work together something might happen.
Make sure you don't have any accessibility services enabled. I had to have it enabled for a swipe down to open the notification drawer in my launcher, but discovered that enabling any accessibility service really slows down the entire phone.

Are you still experiencing lag in games?
Do any of you face any problems when playing games? example, pokemon duel. hearthstone etc.
Is there any fix for it?
try lower screen resolution.
Factory reset and only install your game.
There should be no lag at all, unless you're on a multiplayer game with bad connection. Besides that, any game scales to your devices performance level, so unless you set the bar too high, it all should run flawless.
Verstuurd vanaf mijn SM-G955F met Tapatalk
i did factory reset twice and the problem still persist.
any other alternative?
The exynos s8 is not excellent at playing games.. I have two other devices at the moment, the 3T and the iPhone 7 plus, and both perform noticeably better at games such as breakneck, san andreas and real racing 3/asphalt.
Lowering the resolution to 1080p does not really eliminate the stutters, but gives a better average framerate. I'm gonna sell mine for this reason (and some others).
Exynos is actually slightly faster, but whatever.

Setting app specific resolutions was so great!
Putting 90% of apps in 1080p except mostly YouTube and video apps to 1440p, was just fantastic...
Now am stuck at 1080p everything, because it really saves some battery.
And no... manually changing resolution all the time is not an option for me.
Rooting isn't an option for me either
Do you really see a difference in battery life? I can't figure out if it makes such a difference, and other threads I read didn't see much... So I'm always maxed out because why not
