Hi
My friend just purchased a Note 3 from an Amazon reseller, and it turns out to be a grey import. He asked me to take a look to see if the phone was legit as it had Chinese language by default. I quickly discovered that although the box says 'Made in France', the device has arrive with Hong Kong firmware on it (TGY) as follows...
Baseband version: N9005XXUBMI5
Build number: JSS15J.N9005ZHUBMI7
AP: N9005ZHUBMI7
CP: N9005XXUBMI5
CSC: N9005ZZHBMI7
Current firmware version: PDA:MI7 PHONE:MI5 CSC:MI7 (TGY)
Latest firmware version: PDA:MK1 PHONE:MJ94 CSC:MK1 (TGY)
Has anyone successfully manage to flash the firmware/baseband and changed the CSC to UK unbranded (BTU) without bricking the phone. I have suggested he returns it as he'll trip the KNOX flag doing this, and Samsung don't entertain the warranty if its from another region.
Can it be done?
**Update: I sold my S4 for a Z1 due to the impending KNOX/Activation lockout stuff Samsung were introducing
Hey guys, Just a few questions about CSC + BootLoader + Baseband Version.
I'm using a SM-N900W8 version of the note 3.
I followed a tutorial about installing x-note v18, works great! Phone's rooted and everything is working.
Using Phone INFO I went from:
Phone Model:
SM-N900W8
Device Type:
hltecan
Product Name
htlevl
Original CSC Code
RWC
CSC Country
Canada
Product Code:
SM-N900WZKERWC
Bootloader Version:
N900W8VLUCNB7
Baseband Version:
N900W8VLUCNB7
PDA Version:
N900W8VLUCNB7
CSC Version:
N900W8OYACNB7
TO:
Phone Model:
SM-N9005
Device Type:
hlte
Product Name
htlexx
Original CSC Code
BTU
CSC Country
US & IRE
Product Code:
SM-N900WZKEBTU
Bootloader Version:
N900W8VLUCNB7
Baseband Version:
N900W8VLUCNB7
PDA Version:
N9005XXUFNF4
CSC Version:
N9005DBTENB2
So as you can see a few things have changed. First question is, did I mess anything up?
Second question is, do I have to update the modem? Because x-note comes with N9005_NF4_MODEM.tar.md5 so i'm not sure if I should flash that?
Thanks

1- I don't think you messed up anything. It is due to the custom ROM has been modified by its creator.
2- If every thing works fine so no need to update the modem separately.
Hi guys, behind the battery of my Note 4 it is written N910K.
And when I go to About Device section it says it is N910S.
I installed Phone INFO app, and under Firmware I got these:
Bootloader version: N910KKTU1ANJ1
Baseband version: N910KKTU0ANJ1
PDA version: N910SKSU1ANJ1
CSC version: N910SSKC1ANJ1
Kernel version: 3.10.9-2932692
In Hardware section Modem Board is SS303, Hardware Revision is N910K.13
I want to update my phone from 4.4.4 to Lollipop, but I'm not sure which version my phone is, so I don't know which ROM to download...
I found on one site these data:
SM-N910S Korea Galaxy Note 4 LTE-A
Firmware: N910SKSU1ANJ1 | Build date: 04/10/2014
PDA: N910SKSU1ANJ1 | CSC: N910SSKC1ANJ1 | MODEM: N910SKSU0ANJ1
Android version: 4.4.4 KitKat
SM-N910K Korea Galaxy Note 4 LTE-A
Firmware: N910KKTU1ANJ1 | Build date: 04/10/2014
PDA: N910KKTU1ANJ1 | CSC: N910KKTC1ANJ1 | MODEM: N910KKTU0ANJ1
Android version: 4.4.4 KitKat
So if you look at what Phone INFO app says, it's somehow mixed up between these two models
How can I be totally sure which version is my phone, as I don't want to brick it by flashing incorrect version?
EDIT: And yeah when I go to imei.info site and enter my imei it says it is N910C Galaxy Note 4? Wtf?
Hi, if you want go back to stock rom, download the K Rom, your phone is N910K, your phone's bootloader and baseband are for K model, your current rom is just a S ported one for K.
Sent from my SM-G906K using XDA Free mobile app
I bought the phone which was brand new, couple of years ago. I wanted to update it to the latest OS but was unable to do so as it says it was modified.
After extensive research online, i came to know i have to flash the stock rom using Odin. But i am unable to find the stock firmware that matches the codes.
These are the results from *#1234#
AP : N9005XXUBMI7
CP : N9005XXUBMI6
CSC : N9005OJVBMI2
I am unable to trace the stock ROM firmware. Appreciate if anyone could give the link and the instructions if possible.
EDIT: Okay i managed to download the stock ROM of 4.3 from a website and successfully flashed it. But being in 4.3 it says the phone is up to date and has no updates available when i check for new updates

I downloaded the 4.3 OS and installed that matched my version. How do i go for 5.0 as it is not showing in my phone? Do i need to match the version codes as in that website the 5.0 version is not matching my phone version
Use the newest XXU* Version fitting to your home country best. In my case you would need Germany (DBT) because it was a unbranded german phone. Thus I need PDA: N9005XXUGBOK6 and CSC: N9005DBTGBOI1. Because I am NOT using stock at all anymore, I always use the newest BL and MODEM, but in your case just use the most recent Firmware which fits your origin and provider.

Seems like Sri Lanka has a N9005ODD* CSC in recent FWs, but you have a N9005OJV* one used in South Africa and Morocco currently.
So I would try these:
http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/download/62194/N9005XXUGBOK9_N9005OJVGBOI1_XFM (South Africa)
http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/download/61958/N9005XXUGBOK9_N9005OJVGBOI1_MWD (Morocco)
No guarantee though, but in theory it's not interesting at all which FW you use. At least I already used DBT ones and Nordic Country NEE ones and had no problems in the past.
So you could try http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/download/62526/N9005XXUGBOK6_N9005ODDGBOJ1_SLK (Sri Lanka) too. But as I said, FW update always is a risk and if you don't know how to fix stuff, it can be a nice activity for a whole weekend to fix stuff again.
If you want to be more sure and secure... load https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.vndnguyen.phoneinfo and send the stuff shown in "General", "CSC-Code", "Firmware" and "Android" in here. Most interesting is the "Active CSC Code"

Isn't the different PDA version a problem?
Nope. PDA version changes from time to time. Check the firmwares for CSC XSI and you will see that they are Android version dependent. Same can be seen for any country.
