Hello all,
I have charging sounds turned on in the other sounds section under the Sounds and notifications menu but the phones makes no sound at all when i plug/unplug the charging cable nor it makes any sound when the battery reaches full charge status.
anyone else having this issue? any tips on how to fix it?
Thanks in advance for your help!
I just noticed this day. Same here no sound when plugged in charging.
Same here. Also don't have it on my Nexus 6...maybe a marshmallow issue?
The android team made the decision to deliberately remove some sounds. I found this issue with a few sounds during the development preview of Android Marshmallow for example when reaching full sound there used to be a beep. Submitted a bug report and they marked it as won't fix as it it now the intended behavior. Issue 2882 on the bug tracker.
Thank you all for the replies. hopefully Google fixes the issue with an update or something
If they intended for it to not work then WTF is it still in the "other sounds" sound menu for?
Same here, no charging sounds. I wonder what they plan to do with it.

exactly.. idk what they were thinking... makes no sense...
Same here...find it stupid to leave it in settings when it does not work. Google, get off your bicycles and çode a fix to either remove charging sound setting option or turn it back on like it used to behave!

on my nexus 5 the sound was only playing in wireless mode. not with the cable.
don't know what this option stand for now.
the sound is there, but, it is for wireless charging only.
since the 6p has no wireless charging, it will do nothing.

I actually really love the charge sound, in fact I consider it one of those must have features...since owning these devices with micro USB ports, which to me are inherently weak, hearing that sound is reassuring that the port is operative, and if my phone is plugged in, and the sounds starts going on and off without purpose, I know that I have a problem...and yeah. I know that the USB c port is way sturdier, but it's still nice to know it's working...my solution is a Tasker variable that emits a sound whenever the power state changes.

If you want to add charger plugged and unplugged sounds to your phone it’s available in Xposed, GravityBox and it works the same way as it used to. :cyclops:
I have tried everything to no avial until I found a little app that solves the issue: Plug Sound from Maik Riechel on Google Play. It also allows you to choose a special sound for this function.
I am using it with Marshmallow on a Moto G 3rd Gen.
Im using LightFlow for that.

agreed; I'm not really happy the charging sound on stock 7.1.1 not only is for wireless charging, it only triggers when the phone is unlocked (i.e. screen not off/locked). having a noise every change of power state is a good idea

So I've searched using "keywords" and scoured through many similar posts on this issue within the forum and through Google with no luck, so I'm posting this request now.
Is there any way to prevent a new message/text notification sound from halting music playback?
I hook up my phone to the car to blast the music but when I get a text, it stops/halts/pauses the song, plays the notify sound, and then resumes playback.
I don't want to turn off the notifications all the way, I just want to have the notify sound play OVER or ON-TOP of the music playback
The phone is still running just the stock rom, but if you guys suggest an app or rooting, then I will do whatever it takes, thanks!
This is part of MOST phones. My phone does it, the G1 does it, my friends BB does it.
thanks fenixnr....so is there nothing that can be done to correct this on an Android device?
I know in the past I've had Windows Mobile devices with the same issue (Xperia X1) and some of the ROMs I flashed on it corrected the issue while others did not. My HD2 doesn't have this problem and it has a dedicated 3.5mm headphone jack too.
Am I the only one who has noticed this
I was hoping someone else would have wanted the same thing resolved.

There is nothing to "resolve" as I am pretty sure that is by design how it should work. I cannot test this now, but try putting your phone into a silent mode when listening to your music... Of course, keep your media volume up for your music.
If memory serves me right I think that cm kanged expresso rom had the feature to play notification out of the speaker when headphones were plugged in. Cm6 might have that feature too. I'm not sure though.

honestly if its only a problem when you plug your phone into the car, just put your phone on vibrate or turn the notification off.
Yeah this is honestly the one thing buggin' me right now.
I walk to work it's about a half hour walk to and from and I don't give a damn about my notifications during that time. Hah.
Thought it might be a good idea for all the know early faults to be in one place like the camera zoom fault in video mode etc.
Few guys including me are having issues when using bluetooth. I.e. paired to in car bluetooth. It seems caller cant hear me even thou i can hear them clearly.
Another thing when bluetooth is connected even though you have the loudspeaker option on the phone when pressed it doesnt work. Surely this should be disabled option when connected to bluetooth if it doesnt work anyways?

It could be to do with that. We will have to wait and see when more people connect theres up to there car. Baring in mind the vehicle is fairly new as its a 61 plate merc sprinter 313
Taken from my post at Reddit. Not just faults but also some annoyances.
After 3 days of testing I have a few things that bother me:
When adding any app as a accessibility service (e.g. Lightflow), the Touchwiz Launcher will start telling you where you are right now, e.g. "Homescreen 3 of 5", "Opening folder". Can be fixed by using Apex or removing the app as an accessibility service.
Waking up the phone isn't always instant.
No USB storage mode, only MTP or PTP. You can't use the phone while transferring files.
Boot animations use Samsung's proprietary QMG format --> no custom boot animations for now
While you're in a call, sometimes you can't use your mobile data connection. Wifi works though.
Attaching headset/earphones shows various audio applications that can be launched in the notification area. These apps cannot be customized.
The accuweather widget has a maximum refresh time of one hour. Setting it to anything less than that is not possible. Also, it doesn't always update the current location.

Nothing serious as it seems.
.... and that Accessibility bug has been around a lot longer than the SGS3 - so a fix maybe has to come from Google?

I'd say the non instantaneous lockscreen would be annoying, and MTP would be a real disadvantage. The S3 doesn't allow you to use your phone while in MTP.
I have a Purple tint in the middle the screen . Do you think it Can disappear with an update

Hi Nexus 10 owners,
Love my Nexus 10 but I have an issue with the notification light under the screen.
It was working fine when I first got it on Friday, with it dimming on and off when an email is received.
But since yesterday, it hasn't light up at all, for any notifications, and I do have the "Pulse Notification Light" checked in setting.
So I was wondering if anyone else have any problems with the notification light? Could it be a bug, or perhaps my light broke after the first day?
Thanks in advance for any response.
I might suggest trying https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.coolbeans.ledtester&hl=en to see if your light still works

No problem, try reflash with stock images and you might get lucky. My Nexus 10 is buggy as sh** and I put it down to 4.2. It'll all get sorted out soon enough, hopefully yours is just a bug too. Hope you solve it.

UPDATE
Just reset my N10 and now the notification light works again.:victory:
Guess it must have been one of the app interfering with the light.
BTW, when I tested it with a LED tester app, it can actually show green, red, blue and purple lights.:good:

If I understand right, he just flashed a factory 4.2 image from Google, without any OTA updates.
You can get the factory software from the Google developer site and you can download it to your nexus device in case anything gets messed up.
By "put it down to", I mean I blame 4.2 (Android version on the Nexus 10) for all the bugs I'm having. It's a new OS, and this multiuser stuff amongst others means some pretty major changes so I expect it to be a little unstable for a while. Still a better state than honeycomb was when I bought my XOOM on launch day, boy was that a mess.
You're right about the lights, I just got it to work with all the different colours, cyan and then purple look nice

UPDATE #2
The notification light is not working again
Reset my N10 again, then performed a LED light test each time I install a new app.
Until the last app installed, the notification light was working, then after a few minutes it stops working again.
So I guess it's not really caused by 3rd party apps.
So I ask again, has anyone had problem with their N10's notification light?
Still hoping that it's a bug instead of just me having a defective unit.
Thanks again!
I'm having the same issues. Sometimes the LED seems to be working, others it's not. I installed LED tester and again, sometimes it works fine and others not at all. I have tried to spot a pattern to see what causes it to stop and start and have drawn a blank - no idea. I have since installed light flow but this has not helped. Seems to me that there is either a software bug and we haven't yet figured what the trigger is, or there is a dodgy hardware batch (I hope it's the former!)

I think I've found the trigger. If I turn the device completely off, and turn it back on with the charger plugged in, notifications work. If I turn it back on with the charger unplugged, notifications do not work.
Other things I have tried which made no difference included factory reset and factory reflash.
Can some other folks see if their behavior matches mine? I have a replacement device being shipped to me, but if this is a software problem I'd rather not swap hardware. I'm very curious to hear if there are any devices that have a working LED under both boot up scenarios.
I think you are right. LED notifications were working ok when I had a freeze in google now. I restarted (on battery) and tested the notifications - no LED. I plugged in the charger, restarted the system and retested - LED working again. Looks like we have a workaround and a confirmed software bug rather than a hardware fault.
I'll test when I get home, but, I've only ever noticed the light when my tablet is plugged in, so it could be the same for me too. Shouldn't be a major problem, will get fixed in the next update as long as Google are aware.

Just tried this but still nothing.
Called Google today and they are sending me a replacement.
Ok, this is ridiculous.
Just unplugged my N10 and now the notification light is working.
So apparently it's working randomly.
Hopefully my replacement device works 100% of the time.
BTW, are replacement devices new, or refurbished?
Just updated my nexus 7, totally stock, with the latest ota.
Problem is, it now randomly makes a weird notification sound but with nothing actually happening, means I can't Skype or watch anything without this annoyance..
Have switched off the nfc thing, tried having it plugged in or unplugged but still it persists, have even muted the notification volume but that doesn't work... It happens when apps are running and when they aren't, can't seem to isolate it at all but it's doing my nut in!!

Oh. Hopefully the sound stays away now. Tell me if it ever comes back, okay? I'm more than willing to help.
I updated my S8 to Oreo a few weeks back (Samsung Experience 9.0) and ever since I have a plethora of problems.
The main one being that charging the device is now a battle...
I seem to have narrowed it down to using a fast charge power brick (2.0A)
I have tried the official Samsung unit and cable supplied with the phone, and good quality 3rd party cables and plugs....nothing works.
The device does not even register the cables existence.
BUT,
If I use a standard plug (< 2.0A), and a none Samsung cable it will charge
If I use a Samsung cable, it does not. Seemingly regardless of plug.
I've also noticed that the battery life has significantly reduced, come noon time, the deice is ready to be charged, showing less than 50% having been sat on my desk, with little to no use. (I only charge it at this point as I know it wont make it the rest of the day)
Some other issues I've noticed since the Oreo update...Wi-Fi seems choppy, slow and laggy, and I quite often get the " ! " next to the signal status bar icon.
And almost 100% of the time if I try to cast to one of my Chromecast or Google Home devices, the S8 does not see them (connected to same Wi-Fi SSID), meaning if I open Google Home app, and click top right to see my devices, they are....sometimes disabling and re-enabling Wi-Fi will fix this.
I spoke to what Samsung call their 'Tech Support' and it was beyond a joke...their solution...."Turn the phone off and on"...that was it, they could / would not offer any more support than this, and also claimed that I was the only 1 reporting this / these "potential issues"
I had another update pushed to my S8 yesterday (14.05.2018) which according to the docs was released 10.05.18 - G950FXXU1CRD7
This has not helped with anything....
Has anyone else had any of these or similar problems following Oreo update?
Does anyone know of any 'fix' if so?
TIA

I guess all I can offer is to advise to use this feature in the settings...maybe open a separate thread of your own?
