honestly i would NOT have picked it up if the review came sooner...
fact is, there are just better handsets out there for the same bargain...
Really??? There have been so many reviews before and you honestly wouldn't buy the x10 based on what g4 says? The phone is over a year old, just because it got released a few months ago on att doesn't mean that you couldn't do research prior to buying your phone. The internets is vast and big!

Nice. Really love this review. love my X10 also, but maybe this growing bad publicity will wake sony up and get these minial issues resolved with the phone and ovarall customer apprication. If not for this phone, maybe for their next flagship device. Ive stood up for sony for a long time and about 90% of my electronic devices are sony products " even this post iam writing is being witten from my sony viao laptop", unfortunatley it will most probabaly be my last sony device. unless i see a real massive improvement from this conglomerate giant.

At the moment there seems to be a serious lack of reviews. All of the available ones are usually short first impression videos from the unveiling. The only two actual video reviews (and they're honestly not that great) are from PhoneArena and GSMArena. Neither really go into depth, compare the S4 to competitors, or anything else that a potential buyer would want to see.
It's pretty clear that nobody has really received a review unit yet. Android Central would definitely be loud and proud if they had (and they'd also write a kick ass review on it). For some reason I thought I heard a March 29th date that reviewers would begin to receive them, but clearly that hasn't really happened. So does anyone have any idea when we can expect reviewers to receive these devices? My choice between the One and S4 essentially depend on them.

Really not specific enough
http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_galaxy_s4-review-914.php
To me it seems lika a lot more then just first impressions, and it's been out for some time already as well. I'm quite certain, that they actually have the review unit, because of all the side-by-side photos taken in their office (matches their usual style), hands-on video that's not done ina a conference room, but in their own little studio and mostly because of the battery tests!! Almost 14h talk time + close to 9h browsing + over 10h video + the charging times in the meanwhile....doubt that they can do that during a short first encounter!!

In my OP I mentioned that it seemed like GSMArena had an S4 but then went on to say it didn't appear that anyone else does.

Sry, couldn't read it out then. only thing about GSMArena what I saw was that their review was not that great...I would disagree with that personally and form the rest of the OP pretty much all I could read out is summed up by your sentence:

I'm not entirely sure why you can't understand what I was asking from my OP. It wasn't for existing review, but for a date that reviewers such as Android Central, Cnet, etc, will begin receiving units to review. Anyway, thanks for the link and I actually did read some of the reviews inside of it.

That much I understood, I was just trying to point out, that they (GSMArena) can't do such a review without a review unit, the russian sites as well.
Anyways my guess is, that all the people who were supposed to get review units got them and who didn't are just waiting for the retail units to do their reviews.

GSMArena and PhoneArena are proven to have received their units. Nobody else has. Android Central has specifically made remarks about waiting to get the S4 (they recently said it should be pretty soon). Reviewers definitely won't have to wait until they retail. Samsung wants positive press from popular review sites for people like us and the general consumers who rely on reviews to convince them to get "Device A" over "Device B."

Ain't argueing with that
I just thought that they'd send out the review unit at the same time, unless they favor some sites over the others. Only thing to do now is to wait for others to get their units as well, and to get enough money to get myself one of these as well
T-minus one week until pre-orders on AT&T. The reviews have to be rolling out any day now...no?
Just a couple of weeks old, the Xperia Z2 and Sony is already working on its newest flagship, the Sony xperia Z3.
What is expected??
Brand new design,
Newer display technology,
Faster CPU/GPU
More ram and more internal memory!
Why is Sony working so rapidly with flagships?
Director Kurozumi Yoshiro told Japanese media, that with all the technical evolutions in mobile devices, it's too hard to compete with a yearly cycle, so that they are forced to go ahead with a 6 month cycle, to make sure, Sony is still in competition!
What are your thoughts, your expectations and your wishes for the new upcoming "Z" device?

If they could keep the software up to date on the "obsolete" £500 6 month old handsets with features and bug fixes then great. But they're going too fast and leaving people with expensive handsets with half finished, broken or missing software features. Hardware tends to be on the better side, imo

Could this be a possible new design sony will be revealing?
A display with no edges and no bezels?
What are we to expect when there is a complete new design being worked on?

I can guarantee you that that isn't the device that's going to be released as the Z3. Not to be rude, but no one here will have a clue what the Z3 or any future device is going to be. (or they do know, but can't say)
Read what I wrote. I did not say it's the device, I just asked if this could be a possible design!
Just to make sure there are no misunderstandings!!!

I can guess it's omnibalance design
Can't believe what Sony is doing right now, I understand that you plan ahead on future products but this is too soon especially seing as the Z1 came out in October and now Z2 . I remember getting a pone and using it at least 12months before feeling outdated
Not at all impressed. The biggest issue is that the flagship we bring now won't be the most important 6 months down the line, and hence we won't get updates too quick (same with Samsung as well, though they tend to update both Note and S flagships together.), which is extremely stupid and a reason why I might move away from Sony.
well... i cant afford buying a new phone that often.... and i dont plan to for the future... i have had the arc s, S, Z and now Z1... maybe i will wait until the Z4 arrives before buying my next phone hehe
At last who cares about Z3? I don't, I care about Z1 and some aspects of Z2, just to compare them both. We have to focus to develop a massive Developing Section for Z1, this is what we should do now.
All ive got to say is Sony really lol

You know who hates this more than users trying to keep up with next big thing? Stores who have inventory that's at risk of being discounted every 6 months vs every year. If I were stocking Sony I'd have a very strong contractual obligation that Sony covers the costs of big wholesale price decreases. Either that or I'd stock a very small amount of devices.
It's hard enough getting Sony phones in the States. Stuff like this is another reason retailers and carriers will not want to carry them.

galaxy s to s5 took 5 years, z to z5 in 2 years, really sony is catching up
Going by what they said about releasing a flagship every six months, im pretty sure the Z3 is coming this year
But i wonder how long can Sony keep this rhythm
By next year we'll have 5 flaships still elegible for updates, not counting the rest of the Sony lineup

So, I see this post today:
http://www.cn-c114.net/578/a858488.html
It was a little frustrating in that the article didn't list the site where the device is being sold through. If anyone knows, update this post, please.
Oh, and this was part the article outlining the perks of the higher end model:
"The high-end version of Mate7 is of amber golden and adopts a combination of 3G RAM and 32G ROM, it is also equipped with the exclusive Huawei gold membership privilege services card, the value-added services include exclusive service hotline, a boot gift bag of Huawei mobile phone application market, free of charge to use a 160G online storage in 2 years, this phone was formally on sale in Huawei mall on September 12th."
Found these two as I was browsing. The first is an actual preview, the second is just a comparison between AM7 and iPhone 6 plus.

I don't get why the press is comparing the iPhone 6 and the Huawei devices. I know, the i(insertnamehereproducttheyreallthesame) are what the fanbois are buying, but the two aren't even in the same category. I just don't get the comparison.
thank you for posting the comparison though, interesting to read nonetheless.

It does serve one purpose. To show how horribly designed the iPhone 6 'Plus' is. Look at those ridiculous top and bottom bezels. You would think that since Apple prides itself on having 'premium' designs for their products, they would have figured out a way to make a 5.5" phone smaller than a 6" phone. Hell, even the Note 3/4 is smaller than the iPhone 6 Plus, and they both have larger screens.
But what can you do, right. The lines will be around the block for it. The revolution has begun.
This one is kinda weak...
Not a very thorough review by any standards, but still, it highlights the very decent performance of the AM7. The pic at the top of the article doesn't match the AM7 though. I guess they just used a stock Huawei pic.

Recombu
Found another one, this time from Recombu (never heard of it before). But once again, seems like the Mate 7 is getting decent reviews.

This is only an initial review, but it confirms that the phone gets LTE on T-mobile. Great news.
http://www.zdnet.com/huawei-ascend-...inum-design-and-solid-performance-7000034132/
This isn't related to the AM7, but it is pretty good advice as to why you might want to think about waiting before getting the first production releases available:
http://www.geeky-gadgets.com/samsung-galaxy-note-4-problems-reported-after-launch-29-09-2014
http://www.gizmochina.com/2014/09/27/huawei-mate7-vs-iphone5s-camera-shot-comparison/
This might be a deal breaker, as I use my note 3 which is not great but good enough for instagram etc... this noise is pretty bad though. Probably software related but how long for an update?

Here's the final review from Android Headlines.
http://www.androidheadlines.com/2014/10/review-huawei-ascend-mate-7.html
In it, he reiterates that the Ascend Mate 7 gets LTE on T-mobile. Unfortunately, he says nothing about speeds, but when I get home I'll ask him in the comments.
So I’ll start with admitting that I’m a huge Sony fan and maybe even a fanboy. However at the same time I’m smart and don’t like being taken for a ride. Almost all electronics in my house are made by Sony. I have Sony TV, Sony radio, PlayStation (I had all PlayStation models, including PSP and Vita), Sony Home Theatre, and owned many more Sony products over the years (countless Walkman’s, phones, TVs, radios, mp3 players, etc.). I can easily say that I spent in excess of £10,000 on Sony products over the years. I have also convinced countless friends and family members to choose Sony products acting as their brand ambassador for years and can only imagine how much income it got Sony. Unfortunately over the last 4 years my love and trust to Sony brand has been seriously weakened to the point where I’m seriously considering abandoning it forever. I will now tell you why.
It’s all to do with Xperias. I had Xperia Z1, Z2 and now Z5 (and would probably have more if it wasn’t due to issues with other models). It looks like I have a Stockholm syndrome as I’m also planning to buy Xperia XZ Premium however I will wait until people buy it and post their opinion to this and XDA forum (and I urge you to do the same). And this is why:
- Xperia Z3+ - https://talk.sonymobile.com/t5/Xperia-Z3/Xperia-Z3-overheating-on-32-2-A-0-253/td-p/1152305
- Xperia Z5 - https://talk.sonymobile.com/t5/Xperia-Z5-Z5-Compact-Z5-Premium/Z5C-blurry-camera-images-more-blur-on-the-left-side/td-p/1043401
- Xperia XZ - https://talk.sonymobile.com/t5/Xperia-XZ/Camera-extremely-grainy/m-p/1184016
Every time they botch something their response is appalling! They either deny the issue exists or ignore it and never fix it. My Xperia Z5 still disconnects from WiFi and Sony still didn’t fix it after few months of the problem being brought to their attention. Just go and see the pathetic responses (or complete lack thereof) on the countless forum threads where people are literally begging Sony for help!
This is why I urge you to:
1. If you placed the pre-order already: cancel it and wait for the reviews and forum threads to see if the new models are free of issues. Don’t let Sony take you for a ride and show them they have to care more about their customers!
2. If you didn’t pre-order, wait with your purchase until more people have it in their hands and can post their problems (or hopefully lack of thereof) online!
3. Do not believe the Sony marketing and do not succumb to the hype! Do you remember “No more blurred photos” and how the predictive movement feature failed to work on Xperia Xz? Yeah, exactly that Sony! Don’t let Sony treat you like that and have respect for your hard earned money.
And if you still trust them with the pre-order maybe this will change your mind. While this was done with the pre-production unit and might still be fixed in the final software release it looks like the Xperia XZ photo processing issues are still present in the new models. Please see this YouTube video for first photo comparisons with other models.

You can find any number of complaints with any number of brands - for every complaint there's probably hundreds or thousands of satisfied customers that understandably aren't posting that they're completely satisfied because they don't feel the need to.
I appreciate you've experienced problems in the past, but I doubt the vast majority of people will cancel a preorder on your say-so.
However I am confused that you say you're planning to get the xz premium, having pointed out problems with their recent phones and their response to these problems! If you've had some many issues (I, for one, haven't had any) then why not take a leap of faith and try one of the many alternatives out there?
I admit there have been some issues as mentioned with previous Sony phones. The premium xz seems like they really have a winner. Think I'm going to go for it. Thanks.
Like sony, lg (boot loop issues) and samsung (exploding battery and red tint) have had issues. Every flagship will have a pro and con. It's all about taking a leap of faith.
where am i able to fully preorder i preordered with Clove but they arent taking payments yet
Thank you for this.... I will wait for some real life battery tests and photos.

Unfortunately judging by the reviews it looks like there is again issues with the camera and like the Z5 how often you can actually get to use the screen at 4K.

There's a possibility for the phone to have issues with any manufacturer (Samsung Note 7's fire, LG G5's boot loop, some Snapdragon 810 phones overheat). If you can wait, don't just wait for "professional" reviews, wait a few months for actual user feedback. My current phone had great reviews, but turns out the software is a pos. From all the previews of the XZP it looks great, but I'm still not spending $900 until I see some real user reviews.
Another thing to know before ordering : It seems it isn't true 4K.

I ordered mine from the UK. Paid $676.63 shipped. If you deduct the value of the Sony SRS-XB20... about $100.00... then that means I only paid $576.63 TOTAL. No tax, all in English, same warranty, free gift, and the fingerprint sensor works great!
Why so many are saying $900.00 is beyond me when it does NOT have to be that way! :silly:

Where did you get it for that cheap? Are you talking about £676? Everywhere I look are from $850-900 (USD).

I bought mine from https://www.unlocked-mobiles.com/sim-free-mobile-phones/sony-xperia-xz-premium-sim-free-p-87511.html
There is no VAT (tax) and the amount I mentioned in my post is what was withdrawn from my account. That is the truth! After it shipped I received it two days later. :good:

Seems like the reviewer doesn't realize that the phone runs at 1080p unless the app specifically requests 4K mode. Same as Z5 Premium. He's doing 1080p to 1440p comparisons. The results are obvious.
Interesting topic! But there's more to think about, especially differentiate between software and hardware issues.

Sonys Beauty Mode is a little annoying, because it's not deactivatable. But this can be circumvented by using a different camera app. I like an app called Snap Camera HDR. This is just an example for software related issues that usually can be fixed by using alternative apps or roms, rooting, Magisk, Xposed, and so on.
Hardware related issues are a bigger problem of course. But most of them are warrenty cases and you can return or replace the device. This doesn't change that it's very disapointing if you like your Xperia, but oh well.
Some people have to be the first ones to get the divice. If everyone waits for the others, we'll never get experience reports.
For **** sake, I pre ordered it at a webshop but they didn't ship the phones in chronological order so people who ordered it a day before rrlease got it first and I have to wait at least until next week for mine because there's not enough in my country
Pre order Unlocked Mobil

@martin042068 @jaseman Did you guys order this from Unlocked Mobiles, from the US? I placed an order too with them - but there are several back and forth emails regarding some TAC# and authorization. When I called AMEX, they say its pending from Unlocked Mobile. Did you go through this extra sec check? How long was it until you received the handset? Also their website says 2 yrs warranty on Int'l orders too - was that right?
Thanks for your response in advance!
