WTF!!! My phone resets itself automatically! - Galaxy S6 Edge+ Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Anyone have any idea why in the hell my phone keeps randomly booting into recovery mode and resetting itself? !
It does it every couple of weeks and I lose everything and it pisses me off!

You may not wanna hear this part, but you might have to do a hard reset...reason I say you might not wanna hear it is that you'd have to reinstall/resync all your stuff, and since you say that your comp. isn't recognizing the phone, backing up and resyncing would be a pain.
Hopefully someone would be able to tell you how to do it without a Hard Reset, but from what I read on the forum, that might be your only shot. Hope that helps, and hope someone can figure out a way to do it better.
Can you change the title of your post, please? My son just read it aloud as he was sitting here on the couch with me while I was checking out the forum.
...........
HAHAHAH, sorry
Changed
Language...
First off. Watch the language. You've been around long enough to know better...
You could install active sync on a friends computer and get your info off first. Then you would be free to hard reset the phone. You'll obviously need to remember your password. It wouldn't be very secure if you could hack around that now would it?
I'm using the desktop, but I can't access anything on the phone because the phone is locked a nd I can't access it. And it asks me to unlock via my phone.
Another problem is it will let me type in a passsword once, and then it will disregard everything else (you click unlock and it wont do anything)
Hmmm I'll install another ROM
Passwords are such a pain... People put them where they're not needed, and then they come back and bite you in the rearend. I was just trying to extract a package from an old kitchen I DLd months ago, but it was password protected..WHYYYYYYYY?
Before you password protect something ask yourself if it really needs it.
It's okay I've reflashed a new rom to it.
thanks anyway
you should not post random non-development questions in the development and hacking forum.....i mean seriously, why is this post here?....post in your phones forum.....
OK Take it easy on the language with your frustration.
Also, Yes this should not be in Dev and Hacking. More than likely belongs in your Phones Sub-forum General Section.
However your thread doesn't explicitly mention what phone you are using. That makes it difficult to help you out as well.
thanks for cleaning up up the language. problem solved thread closed.

Errmmm, how can Call Duration be cleared... anyone know?

Start, Settings, System, Device Information... Call Duration. How do you wipe those figures from your handset folks? Must be a way somehow but how?!
Please gimme a clue cus i'm trying to sell my handset 'as new' and even though i've only used the phone for about 2 hours total, in and outgoing, it'd still be nice to have no comebacks with it.
Besides... someone else might need this info for some other reason to so if you know... shout loudly please!!!!!!!!
A hard reset should do it?
Nope. Afraid not mate. Tried that and even changed ROM but nothing. Weird!
I have seen someone ask this very question not to long ago. I believe the answer given was that since it is illegal or unethical to erase the call duration the moderator gave warnings to those asking for a "how to do it". I bet even if someone did give you an answer it would be erased. This site is very clean and trustworthy and the XDA Community leaders will want to keep it that way. Have you done a google search? Google it and you may get an answer. Or go here to this link

MMS not sent, then SD card vanishes, NOW it doesn't take my password!

Last night i took a photo then attempted to send it to a friend (MMS) - surprise surprise the phone made no effort to send it and it sat in the Outbox. I deleted the message and re-created it then attempted to re-send... again... didn't even try to send it.
So i created the message again... but this time, it couldn't find any of my photos... which I thought was odd... so i try to load Resco File Explorer - and it complains that it can't find the program (installed to SD card).
So it seems that magically I have no SD card any more (fwiw: i'm using a 16GB Sandisk one).
So, thinking the phone is just spazzing out, i reboot it.... and now it won't even f***ing recognise my password!
I'm being pretty patient with this phone as i've loved it up until recently... but if i'm honest - i'm starting to grow weary of it now!
If anyone has any thoughts on what might have caused the above - i'd appreciate it!
Thanks
Don't know what has caused it but, if you have your data backed up, I would go for a hard reset and take it from there.
Incidentally what version ROM are you running?
WB
I'm using the stock UK T-Mobile 1.43 ROM
UPDATE: I've left the battery out for an hour or so and also performed several soft resets........ and now, the "unlock" button does nothing! No confirmation of a wrong password... just........ nothing!
So ****ing pissed off!
Pooper,
You say you have done several soft resets. Have you tried the hard reset I suggested earlier (different procedure to soft reset)?
If you try that and it doesn't work then take the easy way out and return/exchange the device as faulty.
Alternatively, if you get it up and running and are not precious about the T-Mobile rom, then flash to another rom (the stock 1.48 is a good start) and take it from there.
Just in case you do have a dodgy device I would start by returning it if the hard reset does not work.
Keep us posted on how you get on.
Cheers
WB

I pity the poor guy in the returns department of HTC. The quality control guys on the other hand, they really like to party don't they?

Sometimes hard resets do resolve strange issues. Soft reseting is a way of life in the winmobile world.
The dilemma people have at the moment is that because there are so many reports of issues and variable manufacturing quality in these devices and they are all under warranty, it makes sense to play safe and send the device back if all sensible and warranty friendly measures to resolve problems have failed.
Must admit I would be really cheesed off if I happened to have a faulty device on my hands, due to manufacturing errors, which the manufacturer would not accept back because I had tried solutions to resolve problems that they considered not to be warranty friendly. Definitely would not be happy after having spent £500 on a device.
Regrettably, therefore, this is why the most common recommendation at the moment is to send a device back. Not good but sensible and pragmatic.

a hard reset is kind of the mobile equivalent to restarting your pc, and we all know that is the first thing any tech support guy says. as for the quality control, don't forget that for everyone with a problem there are a few dozen people with no problems at all, they just don't start threads saying "no problem with camera, help not needed"

Not really.... a SOFT reset is like restarting you PC (i.e. your programmes, settings, personal saves etc. are all preserved); a HARD reset is more like reformatting your computer that has an ability to self install Windows when the format is done... (i.e. you lose all personal files etc.).
A hard reset is far more taxing than a soft one. Last option for me everytime!

I very rarely have to do a hard reset with my Diamond (only after upgrading the rom), although I have to do several soft resets a day due to my tinkering!
I hear you Wacky Banana - £500 device that did this and I'd be a bit miffed too!

Hi! Indeed, I couldn't agree more with you. I have bought my HD2 two weeks ago (as well as my brother and my dad about a month ago) and none of us has a any problems whatsoever and actually this is my first post after I have bought the device.
I am reading this forum everyday and I contribute wherever I can to help people out (not so much here, so forgive me ).
I have came to the conclusion that either the branded units are of lower quality than the unbranded ones ( a bit unlikely) or the branded ones are full of software bugs by not so good operators tweaking (most likely)...
cheers
Hehe, i knew i'd wake up to howls of anger and derision re: my hard reset comment.
The actualities of the process aside, the comparison I was trying to make was that if you have a problem on your PC, sometimes logging off and back on will fix it, whilst other times a reboot is required. (Yes, I know, a reboot is usualy the first stop because it only takes a minute or so, and there's no resetting to do, but bear with me)
In many circumstances I would equate a soft reset to logging off, in that it doesn't always solve a problem. Sure, it solves many small problems, but for larger probs theres nothing like a hard reset and start over. Planned ahead, and assuming you have all the apps you regularly use in a handy spot, and your data backed up, a hard reset need only take 10-20 minutes, if that.
Suppose it serves me right for trying to mix up similies at 3am.
Your problem sending MMS's is probably to do with winmo getting the settings for T-Mobile slightly wrong.
Go to start->settings->menu->all settings->connections->connections->manage existing connections
edit the active connection and untick the box where it uses a proxy.
This is common to all winmo devices that automatically setup connections for T-Mobile.

Noticed Something Strange.. Hard Buttons Have Lights?

Okay, I'm not sure what has happened. I picked up my HD2 last week, I had WinMo running until I got home from the store LOL. After trying the different builds I settled on Darkstone FROYO for obvious reasons to me. Ran it ever since, until today, I decided to give a different radio a try due to the fact that large file downloads ie Google Sky Map would fail and I read that a different radio may help. After flashing the radio I went from the Chucky ROM to RC4.7 BLACK TMOUS VR ROM. All went well. Backed up my SD CARD DATA and reformated it to FAT32 32KB, copy my backup back on the SD and loaded dual boot.
Booted right up into Android and right away i see my hard keys are lit up. To be honest I didn't know they even were lighted. LOL.
Anybody else notice this?
They are not working in any build as of now. Are you sure that when you booted into Android from WM, these buttons were not lit up.
If they were, they gonna be lit up all the time (even if you lock the device). If that is the case, would suggest you to reboot it to windows and boot into android only when the buttons are not lit up.
They are on... but yes you are correct. they are on all the time. Even when I lock or when the device goes to sleep.
You booted it from WM with them on, wait til they turn off before booting android
I noticed something else too... I still had the boot screen from the Chucky ROM even after the flash to the VR ROM. So I just reflashed to AxLor DF1 Xlite and that is taken care of. my lights are now off yet again.
wasted thread this has been talked about 1000 times over find another way to get your post up
they shouldnt be lit up lol

anyways, this has happened to me a couple times and i agree with earhog, wait till they are off in WM before u run HARET. this way they'll be off when you boot android and wont drain your battery as quickly...

Damn... I have always searched the forum for answers and advice prior to posting any questions... hence my post count. I did do a search and all I could pull up was posts about them not working. This was more of observation than a question that I thought was strange.
Nothing more.

Every post should be from a Developer or Chef?? The point of the post was... hey this is what is happening, has it happened to anyone else? How did you fix it? Ideas?
The EXACT point of this forum. If you you knew the answer and it was nothing that intrigued you... why did you open the post? Lol. Anyway, it has been answered, issue solved.

and you do have a point but the forum has rules and there specific rules for this whole hd2 android forum , thats why when you see people like me saying this stuff we never just put the answer its because would you tell your child the answer all the time no because we all know he really wont learn anything...which is the real reason for this site

I am using my first post just for you. You sir, are an ass and need to go elswhere with your "higher-than-mighty" attitude. Since none of the roms are finalized, this is an acceptable topic for this section. OP even stated later on, all he found was posts for the buttons NOT working. And it is apparent that he was asking if anyone else has ran into this issue. For all we know, there may be an issue the the ROM he has loaded that is causing the buttons to stay on like that.
So heed your own advise and stop padding YOUR post count.
noticed something like that too. the button lights are on SOMETIMES. I can say for sure, I didnt start haret with the lights on, but at some point the lights went on during running android (and stayed on). I think an incoming call triggered it, but I'm not sure.

LG G2 Bricked - Probably Hard Brick?

Hi XDA Developers. I'm newbie here so I want to explain my problem as far I it is possible.
Starting from the beginning:
On lonely afternoon I was watching a YouTube (CPU usage approx. 1-5% I think. No multitasking.) and accidentally my smartphone turned off
(It was a matter of milliseconds).
After seeing this, I tried to restart my beloved phone,(In my country it has the best money/performance ratio.)
but nothing happens.
Next step is to read about Recovery Mode/Factory Reset mode, but nothing works.
After that I connected G2 to computer with Windows(R) Operating System. Guided by the Masters of Android Operating System(XDA-Developers of course ), searching for QHSUSB, but unfortunately nothing shows(I was a little upset, because I don't found a similar thread).
So I want to ask you Dear Masters. What next to do?
Many thanks for help.
PS. I used a Desperate ROM http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g2/development/rom-desperate-rom-t3437472 and Lambda Kernel http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g2/development/kernel-lambda-kernel-t3270424
Thread bump.
EDIT: I read about hard brick issue resolve on: https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g2/general/lg-g2-unbrickable-fix-real-hard-brick-t2904404, but nothing happens.
Just last week my G2 turned off in the middle of writing an email.
It no longer charges, turns on, or responds in any way. the LED never comes on when I plug it in, and my computer doesn't detect in. it is basically a paperweight.
Did the same thing happen to yours?
I also tried everything I could in the "UNBRICKABLE" thread but I could never get it to turn on in any way. Either shorting the capacitors is much more difficult than I thought., or my phone is forever dead.
One guy in the thread seemed to think he was better than everyone else, and seemed to think he knew how to 'truly' unbrick the LG G2, but he didn't respond to my email, and his account is currently 'disabled' ( aftabalam8c2), and all of his youtube videos are no longer listed... so i guess that's a dead end, maybe you could try him? The thread is filled with other rude people thinking they know better, but none of them really have anything concrete to contribute...
I tried shorting the caps for about 5 hours so far, but I haven't gotten anything to happen, and I've pretty much given up... Perhaps someone with more experience will chime in, but for me, i am back to using my old iPhone 4
