Anyone know the latest release date for volume availability in the US?
I see that Amazon has removed their price of $850 and it now just asks if you would like to be emailed upon availability. I thought the date was 7/31 but I'm starting to wonder if this is slipping. Funny that CompUSA had some for web orders for awhile but are now out. Makes me wonder what their source was, and if it was not really intended for US sales, though the lack of the inner camera lense in the picture would seem to indicate it was. What's the scoop?
Strangely enough, the HTC America site has a link to a 61.4Mb download, RUU_Athena_HTC_US_2.19.453.4_105_1.47.51.00_Ship.exe that appears to be a ROM upgrade for the x7501, but no date of release for the device itself other than "this summer".
Just received my alert from Amazon
I just received the alert the Amazon and ordered one up for $850. Amazon states: "Estimated ship date for this item: August 10, 2007 - August 20, 2007."

Also, Tref, I neglected to mention that 2 or 3 days ago I hit CompUsa's web site and saw that the 7501 was, in fact, available for pickup at a local store (Jacksonville, Florida.) As I was driving down to pick it up I received a call from a CompUsa rep stating that they only had a couple in stock and that these were open-box demonstration units and he'd have to locate one at another store and have it shipped here. I said, "get it." Meanwhile, I did a little reading up on the net and came across some posts someplace mentioning that the units at CompUsa were not meant to be for-sale units but, rather, for-show units and some had a "test only - not for resale" (or some such wording) splash screen. The rep, Scott, called me back yesterday and said he'd located one and could have it shipped, but I told him what I'd come across and nixxed the order and said I'd wait for Amazon, and today I have the payoff.
They have been available at Compusa and Amazon for several weeks now, just in very limited amounts.
The issue with the Compusa "test units" isn't really an issue. It's the same as the regular unit and that latest ROM update fixes the intro screen. You should have just grabbed the one from the store. I drove an hour and half out of town to get the last one from the Compusa in Tucson AZ yesterday and even before the update it was fine.
I found 3-5 places in the US for the Black X7500, over a month ago, ready
to ship.. Off the top of my head 1 was in Miami, 1 in Detroit, 1 in Chicago.
There out there in Volumne now. So why are you waiting?
For me personally, I'm waiting to decide between the x7501 and the Nokia E90. I keep flip-flopping due to reports of this or that issue with each device. I have the luxury of doing this because neither is yet available to me as a US model.
I've had many, many PDA/Handheld/Phones of all sorts and I'm not as excited as I once was to be converting all of my PIM data yet again, this time from WM5 to Symbian or something else. But the Advantage is large, and I'm trying to decide if it is essentially too large for my use. If I take the WM plunge again it will be for the x7501, or another device altogether, be that an E90, an iMate Ultimate, or some other such thing, but not an x7500. Perhaps the HTC Omni if I can wait that long.

I am assuming you said not X7500 because of the price, correct? Other than that I can't see why you would want X7501 over X7500.
Don't need the front camera, and I'd like to buy it from a brick and mortar if possible so it can be returned more easily if necessary. Also I'd like WM6 installed at the factory. Plus, and I could be wrong about this, if there is any possibility of getting one with a flash drive installed instead of the microdrive I figure the 7501 would be the likely device to have it. And of course the price.
I ordered mine from Amazon as soon as I found out about it on their site (early July?). It's due to ship between August 1st and August 15th. I noticed about 3 days later that they changed the status on their site from order to notify me when it's available. I called Amazon and they said that they'd already sold all they had from their first distributor (glad to see it's popular!) and this change was for another distributor. I had them auto notify. I just received notification a couple of days ago, so my guess is that they will be in stock in volume around the 1st of August.
I can't wait to get mine!
If you are close to a CompUSA, you can check local store availability online.
Keith
Thanks, but the closest is about 4.5 hours away.

How right you turned out to be, Infraded. I just received the following email from Amazon:
********
Greetings from Amazon.com.
We're writing about your recent purchase of an HTC Advantage 7501 purchased from Amazon.com. We've learned that some units were shipped out with pre-production software. If you received an HTC Advantage from Amazon.com and are experiencing any problems or errors, please be sure to upgrade to the latest firmware/software to avoid issues.
The download URL and instructions can be found on the right side of the following page:

We hope this information is helpful. Thank you for shopping at Amazon.com.

Being an extreme newb to these devices, I just wanted everything done properly at the factory before I started tinkering. Well, 'live and learn' says I. Or is it, 'sometimes you just can't win'?
Jefson, I got the same email, but mine hasn't even shipped yet.
Since the email says "some units" have the pre-production rom, you should check your rom version first, as you may not have the earlier version, so may not need the upgrade.

yvilla, I did purchase it but they haven't shipped it out. They gave me an estimated ship date of August 10, 2007 - August 20, 2007. Let's hope our batch comes properly setup and configured with all sofware included. If not, I don't believe it will be too difficult to mend. We'll hope for the best.
I read a news message yesterday stating that USA customs have forbidden to import handhelds with a Qualcomm chip inside it. Broadcom is stating that Qualcomm is using their pattents. So if you are waiting for an athena you can wait until it is released by customs. It contains a Qualcomm MSM6275 (quad-band GSM, UMTS 850/1900/2100 Mhz, GPRS, EDGE, HSDPA) chip.
Thanks for the heads-up on that, QAN. Yes, a quick search of the online 'Wall Street Journal' site tells me something is afoot regarding "U.S. International Trade Commission following Qualcomm's patent fight with rival Broadcom Corp...", but I don't have time to get up on the matter right now. Thanks again for the pointer.
According to a handful of websites the Droid X "has been arriving at customer's doorsteps" early
my question is HOW??? There is nowhere to pre-order the Droid X online or on the phone, so how the hell are "customers" receiving them early??
Best Buy you have to physically be in the store to pick up the pre-order as they do not take your address or anything when you pre-order, wtf are they babbling about??

EDIT- Apparently if you had ordered an Incredible and were told it was backlogged and switched to X, then u get urs early
Dude, you can order them from Verizon stores and have them shipped to you. I also think there was a way to pre order online or by phone.
I am with the first dude. I was really under the impression that Verizon did NOT except any pre-orders, just BB. I have read so many articles and have been in the Verizon store many times. The closest Verizon came to taking pre-orders that I know of is making in store appointments for the 15th or allowing people the already order the incredable to switch.
Actually the early Droid X arriving was a mistake on Verizon customer service system part , has nothing to do with the Droid Incredible, they accidentally shipped out 170 units to customer but they couldn't even activate them until a few days ago where Verizon figured out how to early activate these early bird device b4 the July 15th launch date.

Ok sorry, i am still not getting it or making my point. Why did verizon ship out any phones to customers if verizon did not take pre-orders? I can see them maybe shipping some out early to stores in error. Pre-orders still had to take place for Verizon to have the addresses to send these phones in error. And all web info indicates that Verizon did not allow or take pre-orders.

EXACTLY!!
Why are cutomers getting phones when there was no possible way to "pre-order" staright from verizon????
I went into a corporate store and tried to order and they told me to come back the 15th first come first serve!!
For whatever reason, the 170 people who got their phones first were by a rep that somehow got the order in, or by people who had been waiting for incredibles but changed to the droid.
Or they are just trying to build the buzz for the official launch. Be interesting to see if these early releases are spread out across the country and most of them close to major markets.

My thoughts exactly...
Went in today and played with it... must say it feels very good in-hand. Buttons were NOT wonky. Screen was gorgeous, and was very thin and light. Did not feel cheap in any way!!!!!! : )
... so excited for thursday!
man, i also cant wait for tomorrow. I luckaly have the day off but i have my 9mo old son with me so i really cant go too early and stand in line for hours. I am really nervous that people will be "camping out" way early and that i will not get my hands on one. I guess i have to mentally prepare to be dissapointed.
I am also wondering if the hype is blown up and if there will really be lines for hours. I guess time will tell. i hope everyone here that wants one and thats is as excited as i am gets one.
According to this you won't have to worry, plenty of supply

Aww just got delayed I believe for shipping. Ordered on the 14th and got the email
Dear Customer
Greetings from Notion Ink!
We would like to inform you that we have started shipping your device from the 4th of March and will be dispatching them in batches until the 14th of March.
Please note that as a standard procedure, after the devices are dispatched from our factory, it takes upto 48 hours for transportation to the port, customs clearance before the shipments can be forwarded to international destinations.
You will be able to use your order number to track your Adam once our logistics partners process your order for dispatch. They will contact you about the same once this has been done.
We really appreciate your patience in this matter and we will keep you updated about the process.
I got it too. I ordered on the 10th.

I ordered on the 9th and just got the same email. Kind of B.S. since I've been reading reports of people ordering the 9th and receiving shipping confirmations as early as the 5th. 15 months of waiting for this thing, another week can't be that bad, but damn it sucks...

WOW thats good 14th feb order shipped. I checked after seeing that and I also got shipment under process. Thanks for the up.
Don't be fooled by the "Shipment under process" - this does NOT mean your Adam has shipped. Until you have a TNT tracking number - assume it hasn't.
Now, I really don't want to call NI liars, without having the full information, but the reality is that the spreadsheet created by NIA members contains 800+ entries for PO2 orders. NI said that they are shipping in batches "every day, until 14/Mar". But the spreadsheets have NOT been updated at that rate - there's still only 120 entries that have shipped.
One might say, that relying on spreadsheet data is not a good idea, because data gets stale and not updated, etc. But the fact is, scine ESD changed to "Shipment under process", 170 people have already update their entries in two days - hence, I assume that any other change would have been recorded as quickly - or at least there would be some signs that there is at least ONE extra item shipped. This leads me to conclusion that Adams were NOT shipped in batches "every day".
As for the current status not meaning that it's "shipped" - well, for one it doesn't say "shipped", but there's also the case that it changed around the same time (weekday+time) as the ESD changed 25/Feb-10/Mar -> 3/Mar-10/Mar which, given all the other unclear communication history from NI, makes me suspect that this change is an automated change.
Once again, repeat after me: the order is NOT shipped until you have a TNT tracking number.
Hey guys!
I just wanted to celebrate the 1 month anniversary of my notion ink adam with you all.
1 month ordering anniversary that is
PO3? Future, cancellations, iPad2 or any other alternative Tablet, consider this..
Seriousness to consider, if they haven't already shipped, or at least aren't already built in the factory, delays could be worse.
With recent events in Japan, maker of many IC chips used in most electronics, production has been affected.
If they don't already have everything to assemble current Adams, indefinite delays are to come.
Those waiting to order an Adam after PO2, may have a long wait if they don't already have them assembled or ready to assemble.
This delay will affect even iPad2 and other tablets/devices, prices may even sky rocket.
-CC
Bah, I'm really hoping they are on their way soon. However, I won't be surprised either way : /
See it's that we are not understanding how time is calculated..
When they said in the email 48 hours from the 14th, they meant divided into 8 hour work days.. So that is roughly 6 working days +/+
Perhaps next week..

EDIT: [10:28] <Tachyon1> clockcycle|awy: unless you ask again, in which case it will be "In 48 hrs" again.

The delay is more likely on Pixel Qi's part. And, divining from their website (www-dot-pixelqi-dot-com/), Pixel Qi's manufacturing facility is in Taipei. Thus, it is likely NOT affected (directly.) I really think that NI has all the parts, EXCEPT FOR the PQi screens.
Just my opinion, based on reviewing the spreadsheet OFFICIAL Mirrors:

2: tiny-dot-cc/NI-tracker-nih

With the N5 coming soon, it's finally time to ditch my trusty old GNex. The G2 has most of the things I'm looking for in a phone (large, high quality screen, great battery life, excellent camera), but the $600 off-contract price and bloatware makes it a no go for me. The N5 looks really good on paper, but unfortunately it nerfs most of the things I like about the G2. I was hoping to wait for reviews and comparisons to come out first, but "waiting after release" for a Nexus product has it's own problems, in terms of actually being able to get one.
So I wanted to ask you guys for your experience with the N4. How long was it between being available at the Play Store and being sold out? Was it available for preorder and did it sell out even then? How long after selling out did it become available again? And when did you buy your N4 and how easy/hard it was to get?
If I recall correctly, the first batch was sold out within 15-20 mins.
And then a second batch was available after few weeks after.
And I think after 6~8 weeks most of the people who miss their chance with the 1st and 2nd batches got theirs.
I think after 2 or 3 months, they start having steady stock? Someone can correct this.
Google claims they did not anticipate that many buyers for the devices.
There wasn't a preorder on the release date,
but I'm sure they will have enough stock or preorder this time around.

i think your right but even after the 2 month there was still a 4-5 week waiting list
Well, I remember that I was mad at google on launch day because they started sales 30 minutes before it was supposed to go on sale, so by the time I was able to take out my phone in class to buy one, they were sold out. Then I had to wait until November 27th to buy one, that was when the second batch came out, and it arrived on Dec. 6th.

I'll add to this that on the first day, November 13th they did indeed sell out in the first 15 minutes which was 15 minutes before the official start time. I logged on at the correct time, noon pacific, and was still able to place an order but it was placed on backorder a day later, the system kept taking orders even though they were sold out throughout that first day. My backorder was filled on the 27th and arrived around the 6th some peoples backorders arrived weeks later and the system would periodically take new orders but they too would go into backorder. It took months to get it all sorted out.
I waited until January and I finally got too antsy and paid $415 for it on eBay. That's how impatient I am at times. Granted back then the markup I paid was only $115 (actually less since I didn't have to pay sales tax) since it was still price at $299 then. Was worth it to me.
Got it after tax refund in February

Well technically speaking, Google never specified a time that it would go on sale. They only specified a date, and nothing else. The fact that it would launch at different places within their respective time zones was also unknown to us (however somewhat known to the US people as it launched in places like Australia and the UK first).
Everyone only had conjectures about the times, and lots of people like me checked at every time possible, including 9 PM the night before, 10 PM the night before, 11 PM the night before, midnight the night before, 9 Am the next morning, etc. I think people expected it to come at 9 AM like Google's usual launches, yet it ended up actually launching at 8:27 AM PST or something near that. People who checked at 9 AM, such as yourselves I'm assuming, were already too late unfortunately. I for some reason was just paranoid about it and had been refreshing the page every five minutes since nearly 8 AM. Still, even at 8:30, the site was having major problems and I was only able to get my order through at 9:00ish, a few minutes before it sold out. Sort of the reason was because my Google Wallet stuff wasn't ready yet, so yes, when you do order, have that address + credit card ready beforehand as the default.
I was in the first 15 minutes to order. I used a chrome app to refresh the page for me and alert when there was a change. I was awake all night until it was purchased (granted I work nights so it was no big deal for me). However, I didn't get it for like 4 weeks. I had to call Google a few times and they kept giving different answers and stated that some were some how lost, but if they manually looked it up they could find your order. So, I was way behind when I should have got it.

So, good luck to all of us.
I got mine in about January. I couldn't get my hands on one in Europe until then.
Definitely worth the wait though .
I find it quite unprofessional to have people pre order a device in September and have them arrive 2 months later. How can you announce your best phone ever (for both companies) and be so woefully prepared for the demand it might incur? I'm having second thoughts on getting the phone since I have no idea when I might receive mine since Google and Huawei have yet to get their act together in rolling out the product
Have you tried buying any previous nexus? By far the best release yet!
Doesn't your pre-order have a date? That would be the latest you would have your unit shipped.
No, I'm OK with it.
Yep, best by far. Especially after being involved with the 4, 5 and 6 failed launches!
This is my favorite so far. No issues thus far.
Best handling it this way rather than having people refresh the page every second because product went out of stock within 2 minutes of release.(previous nexus releases)
Very happy.
Order date: Sep 29, 2015 1:05:16 PM CDT Estimated delivery date: November 10 – 12, 2015.
Phone will be delivered to me tomorrow.
Ordering process yes. However... Shipping order is jacked up AGAIN. Ordered 9/29 within 15 min of link going live. 32GB Graphite. There are people with tracking information that purchased 10/21 and have shipping confimation while mine sits in processing purgatory. Card was final charged 3 days ago. Still hasn't gone anywhere. This happens to me every year.
Almost as bad as a Best Buy launch ....
I don't mind this release style at all. I really don't see what OP concern is. Google has turned a 'quickest to order before servers crash' to 'just order and be patient, we won't charge you'

Disappointment? That would imply I had expectations which conflict with what was promised. I have no such expectations.
In the announcement event, they simply said "later in October" concerning ship dates. During the preorder process, everything was clearly spelled out. How could I be disappointed? My only expectation is that the products I ordered will arrive safely by the time they indicated.
I'm pleased with the order process this time around. As for delays well that is common on pre orders these days. I'm just happy that I got to order, much better than trying to catch a one or two minute in stock window like in the past.
Disappointed, nah. one of the biggest tech company in world can't handle preorder. How the hell do you sell out preorder? Just take the damn order and give a 4-5 weeks eta. Don't tell me you can't get huawei to make your phones in 5 weeks.
I'm rather disappointed that Germany was not a part of the countries that could preorder it first. I simply don't get it...
It's a pain yes. But it happens this way every year. I'm just surprised they haven't fixed it much over the years. I'm waiting on a Frost 64GB - No one has gotten a Frost yet, so we'll see if the ship date is hit, Nov 2.

I wasn't expecting much so no .. not disappointed.
I ordered, was given an estimated ship date and it has shipped early. I call that a success.

You do realise that these were pre-orders, right? This is exactly how the concept of a pre-order works.
Dissapointed, yes. The roll out in the US might be not that bad. But there are other countries besides US. In Europe we are still waiting to preorder. Such a slow rollout. Google needs to learn from Apple and bring their **** together and roll out the devices from day one.
