Testers needed! - Galaxy S6 Edge General

Hello all,
I built a ROM from samsung opensource and AOSP sources for G925F.
I need some tester to check how the flashing goes.
NOTE : I will not be responsible for any damage and the usual stuff from usual disclaimers.
Report back if anyone is interested and have enough guts.
FYI I have some experience with building for exynos devices (galaxy s4 i9500), check my signature to see my work.

I am up for testing.

Here I am!
May I ask if it is based on lollopop or marhmallow?
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk

I'm here..

Me too

Im Tester
my phone is ready for testing!!

May I ask for an updated TWRP recovery (v2.8.7.2, even beta) for G925F (zerolteeu) (one which support f2fs...)? Thank you!

Very happy to see so many volunteers.
I will upload it by tonight after making some more changes.
FYI it is AOSP 5.1.1 which was recommended by samsung opensource.

Upload it asap.btw mine is 925I would it be compatible?

Yes, ready!

I volunteer!

Everyone is waiting.. are you going to release it for public ?

This is real??!! i want test!

If this is true, i guess, i will stay with my s6 edge long long long time, i'm ready to test too

Updated 25.4.12
Xplodwild is receiving his galaxy note this weekend, and will resume dev for the kernel and CM9 soon!
Updated 22.4.12
Team Hacksung Progress : Xplodwild & Entropy
As per Entropy:
Video hwaccel - working
GPS - Working, although GLONASS is either not being used or just reporting as not locked even though it is. Samsung's sat status interface in ICS is mangled, I need to bring gpswrapper over to this device to see what the deal is.
Stylus - Working with apps like Quill that support the standard Android 4.0 stylus API. (Haven't really tested anything else, but I know S-Pen API apps will not work and it's going to stay that way.)
Camera - untested, probably not working, I tried to implement Torch and it did not play well
Updated 21.4.12
stage 1 complete.
stage 2 complete - device ordered. project is ON!!
stage 3 complete - device has arrived already! Dev XplodWild is beginning with his kernel project on the device.
*** News - As xplodwild is waiting for his device to come back after repair... the amazing entropy is progressing with the kernel project based on xplodwilds work ... please read the last few pages of the thread for detailed updates !
Dear Friends,
I was in touch with my dear friend developer @xplodwild who is an integral dev member at TeamHacksung who are developing CM9 for the Galaxy series.
Xplodwild has been developing an open source kernel for the galaxy s2, and he would like to develop an open source kernel for the Galaxy Note as well now. Since the hardware is pretty similar except for certain changes, this can be achieveable quite fast.
So, what are the benefits of an open source kernel for the Galaxy Note?
Click to collapse
- Up-to-date forever kernel : Up-to-date forever kernel : The Kernel shall remain up to date forever, even after samsung or google come out with android 5.0+, and even when kernel will reach version 3.4.0
There is no need to wait for wait or beg samsung to release their sources. After all android and our community is all about sharing and developing with each other.
- Community supported : The project will be open source and community supported, so we can take this is another level really.
- The advantage of having "Updated drivers" - Once we have open source updated kernels and drivers, the developers can continuously work on new roms, ports and developments. and Don't have to wait for ics or other leaks from the company itself. Usually the ports don't have something or the other working (like camera, usb etc.) because the kernel sources or drivers are not available. Once we have this project running soon, we will never see an issue with future android builds or ports etc.
- Ability to do Mods
- Maybe samsung will never release sources or will release very late for each release. We don't need to be dependent on them
How to make this project Happen? Its pretty simple, we all are making it happen

I would like to Thank "PopAds" and the community for supporting and making this happen. We have in a record time (less than 24 hours) collected enough to buy a note for the development, and now we head towards the 2nd stage.
Thank you!!
How much time this will take to develop?

Since, SGS2 and Note are similar so it should take some days to have it running, then it'll follow the same progress as GS2.
Check out xplodwild's sgs2 thread here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=23462307 , you can see how he is making significant progress everyday and its coming to stable use very soon!
The open source kernels can be used on AOSP / Samsung Roms (with slight mods) / and CM9 based roms, for Android 4.0 +
Lets create our own community based, community driven samsung open source development program.

Cheers mate! Absolutely. I think if we all contribute, we can pave a fantastic way ahead for our phones and make development even more amazing.
Just because sammy never releases its sources so fast, or we have to be dependent on leaks all the time, which always leads to this or that not working...
we can now create ways to make the development for our phones instant and bring in so many possibilities

Assuming you got the money today for the kernel how many time?

when we have a kernel drop from samsung for the 3.1 kernel there will be a lot of effort put into the kernel..
buying someone a note isn't the way to go about it..
I see no evidence that there's any 3.1 kernel source working properly for the sgs2, I understand they are waiting for a source drop the same as us, so why do you think this guy will get a kernel running for us, when he hasn't for them?
I was going to start working on a 3.1 kernel some time ago, but its going to be quicker to wait for the source, as porting kernels up major revisions can take quite a while.

Same as I replied there:
I can tell you myself that I got my 3.0.12 kernel running on my Galaxy S2. So far it boots, touchscreen and charger works (knowing I've been only working a week on it). I even got a 3.3 branch where I got screen working, but MALI drivers are fuct in the RC hence I couldn't get it to boot yet. But it's possible somewhat in the near future.
Knowing that, having a working opensource kernel that people understand will help having up-to-date kernel for the future. Galaxy S II users are more than happy to get it, and they're more than happy to know that they'll be able to get BLN, Voodoo sound and many other stuff and tweaks available largely before Samsung will drop the sources.
ICS leaks being delayed more and more every day, you can't be sure when they will drop the sources.
All in all, all I have to say is that it's booting. Here's an old video where screen works, but no touchscreen yet: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r_hhM411lHc&list=UUBMGKNICl0MqId2JPEPsTug&index=1&feature=plcp
Since, as I said, I got a couple things more. Check that on my github: http://github.com/xplodwild/android_device_samsung_galaxys2

Agree 100%
You are willing to put the effort into this. It may be good, it may not. I am willing to see it through. No software development project I have ever done has been certain. I have spent many hundreds of hours, and sometimes thousands of dollars employing others, on projects that may or may not work. Some paid off, and I keep going on the strength of that.
This is not even a commercial venture! I would not expect someone to buy a Note on the off-chance that the project will gain enough support to get that cash back. If you want a commercial product you pay on results. For an open source 'gift' to the community, I am more than willing to support an valiant effort to give us a kernel we can all benefit from. The Samsung one is just pants.
Just discussing with may very good friend (and son) here, and this type of community-funded effort just was not possible twenty years ago. I love the fact that it is now, and am more than willing to take a small chance on it!
Sorry, rambling a bit, but the bottle of wine is getting low.....

the thing is if this works out, im pretty much guessing that our notes and SGS2s will be the next HD2s and has all the rights to be. These exynos powered devices are definitely strong enough to be future proof with them kernels.

Done with jIDE

Good luck to you all. I've decided I'm done with Jide and will move to a company that provides support. Looking at the new JIde IO and IO+ elicits a comparison to Roku. I have 2 Roku devices, including a Roku HD that is 5+ years old. Got its last update in December of 2016, last time I checked. Compare that to the Ultra Tablet which is not currently being supported.
Mine is on ebay if anyone wants to take a look.
Good luck, but I doubt Jide will give a hoot about you as they have shown thus far,
Agree. Not even replies to the forums anymore either!
I completely agree. When I got my hands on the ultratablet I was really happy, the hardware is great and the software was promising. The lack of updates and support have really dissapointed me, nowadays I use my ultratablet maybe one or twice per month! Rather dissapointing for a company that we fully supported through Kickstarter.
I've heard there's a custom OS for the ultratablet in the works. I can't remember the name of it.

VERY curious as to what the hell you are talking about, hahaha. Any info would be great.
Any luck finding that link?
They don't want to open source their OS, they must be hiding something because when I asked if they had plans to open source it AND WHY they only answered that they don't have any plans to open source the OS but didn't say why.
They've released source code for what they are obligated to under applicable licences.

Edit: although rereading the XDA article, it can be misconstrued either way.

Is AOSPA 7.2.2 Something You Would Like?

I have finally built it after trying different things, I fixed the problem myself. After receiving a whole lot of flak on my thread (that I intended to have this build already uploaded to) I have decided to ask if anyone wants me to create a thread for my sub-weekly builds. I will be building them as quickly as I feel they should be made (if errors happen) or weekly. Hope you guys are a little kinder this time to me. Or I might just stop replying to those comments. Anyways, let me know soon. Otherwise I'll take it as a no and just build it for myself.:good:
I am looking forward to it
Pls Share the Build.

This community is for sharing. You're more than welcome to share stuff that you feel worthy.
Though what you did the other day was incorrect, you'll get to know that yourself if you have a look at XDA rules.Just follow the rules and remember what is appropriate and what is not appropriate.
BTW,did you fixed the proximity sensor and random app crashes issue?
Please share. I've no idea what mistake you made and I really don't care too.

I understand that about the rules and respect that and I admit I did not look at the rules regarding that, and I apologize for that. But it only took about a day to fixed the compiling problems, so all that whining to the mods to remove my thread was just plain unnecessary IMO. I will be more careful though now that I know that there are sensitive people here.
I'm not having any of that. Can you elaborate and maybe I can look into that more, what instance was it happening in? Remember I'm not associated with AOSPA on GitHub so I cannot make changes to the master. I'm still new to compiling ROMs and could probably use some insight on how and what is safe to modify on my local copy of the source. I was thinking about replacing jack compiler with the default toolchain now that jack has been depreciated.
Let me test this build out just to see what works/doesn't real quick and then I'll make another thread. I supposed it doesn't need to be flawless since I've seen worse ROMs pop up and they plain didn't half work. And sometimes they say to test it out yourself and report bugs... So I guess I'll upload it soon in a thread in the ROMs section.
Eagerly waiting for your build...

Yes,but devs only do that when they do blind builds aka builds for devices they don't have, since they can't test it themselves they release it to people having that device to test it out.

Some apps and games which were supposed to work(since they work out fine on other ROMs) give force closes.
About proximity sensor, when you place your device during a call on your ear then the screen should turn off normally, but it doesn't(on official AOSPA) due to proximity sensor issues, although it can be fixed by using another firmware ,it should be fixed(ROM side changes) so that people can use other firmwares too if they want to.

so far aospa(just test it) in my OnePlus One has the following issues (official AOSPA from their website)
- The hardware keys light is broken(lights up whenever and for unknown time - also cannot be controller),
- The battery circle icon(my favorite) ...if you use the percentage, you can't see the percentage ...circle is having a thick layer(for some reason)
Didn't test it further as I can't have these obvious bugs, so back to LA-OS until it's better

[ROM TESTING] CortexROM for the P2XL [NEED TESTERS]

I will only be selecting a couple people for this. I have to have my phone working during the day because it's my lifeline for my job. So I can't have it down trying to test ROM builds and whatnot. If you'd like to help me test my new setup, let me know, and I'll PM you with details.
I don't want people that just flash it, say it doesnt work, and wait for another build. I need people that can help actually diagnose what's causing the issues as well. This is for the Google version, obviously not the Verizon version.
I have a few days to mess around. PM me if you still need anyone.

Hey wassup Chevy, been a minute since the good old Nexus 6P days, look forward to see your magic on this Pixel XL 2. I wish I had extra phone to play with for you. Good Luck

Still looking for victims? I'm happy to participate.

Best rom of 2020 for Galaxy Note 3?

I know this questions likely been asked before but I couldn't find it and it likely would be outdated. I recently picked back up my Note 3 (Note 8 exynos user) discovering some guy had a custom rom that loaded Android 10 onto it. I love the look of the Note 3 and want to repurpose it. Just for video calls and google maps via tethering. Anyways, what's the best rom in terms of efficency, features, use, on screen time, UI and more?
To answer my own question I have concluded Havoc OS is the best as its official and works with Google Pay, I was also able to use my IR Blaster with no issues shich wouldn't work on Paranoid Android or Lineage. Also being unofficial meant the lack of support when having issues was non existent. So if you want my recommendation go Havoc, Im sure most are aware as it has far more downloads than the others.
Can you guys really not stop this nonsense questions? Jeez, there is no best rom no best kernel, everything is personal flavor.
Stop demotivating good devs! Just flash the roms and try them out like it should be done.

For one I'm new to this forum, secondly I'm asking for personal opinions on which rom has the best usability in each different areas of mobile usage. If a developer actually gets demotivated because their rom isn't named best rom or 2020 then they're highly insecure and instead should look on working harder to improve what they're working on. There is nothing wrong about having a personal preference and that is what I'm asking for, PREFERENCE. You could like the absolute worst rom if you justify what's good about it.
OP there are only about 3 roms current nothing to stop you trying each via Nandroid .
As for EXYNOS probably even less see exynos development .
Personal opinion stock rom .

Yeah, Ive not got the battery to 100% confirm if its exynos but since my region is exynos I'm assuming it also is. Thanks for leading me to the right place.
EDIT: So I googled my device, sm-n9005 which of course is the 4G version and says it has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800. Though I'll just check the phone itself when I get a replacement battery tomorrow, thanks again.
