You should let the device charge for a full 24hrs. It maybe bugged or the battery is calibrated wrong. Similar thing happened with my LG G Watch R.

Mine wouldn't charge a while back and I fixed it by cleaned the contacts on the ribbon cable going to the USB port. Take off the back, remove the battery, carefully pull the ribbon cable out of the USB port, clean the contacts (I used as white eraser). Reassemble. The contacts get a light corrosion on them after time and this cleans it off. I did need to do this again a few weeks later so maybe plug the cable back in then pull it and clean again. There could be residue in the USB port ribbon cable plug that gets back onto the contacts. Doing it a few times can help get that out. Worth a shot and costs nothing.

How long did you leave it charging for?
I remember one time I thought my Nexus was dead and wouldn't charge, as normally you would see the charging indicator on the screen but on mine it didn't. In the end , I thought I'd just be patient and just left it for a very long time and it started to charge again.

I had this happen on a wall mounted nexus 7 that just stayed plugged in all the time. I eventually just ordered a new battery for it off amazon, and it resolved the problem.

My mistake. I got it off ebay from a guy named computerparts409 for $17.99 + $3.47 shipping back in March.

Transformer not charging suddenly

When I woke up this morning I found my tablet at 50% battery and not charging, despite being plugged in. This has never happened before and it was charging fine just yesterday. No changes have been made to the software in a good long while. I've tried three different charging cables so far.
What's stranger still is that the screen comes on when I plug it in, but it still shows battery not charging. I turned it off and left to go see a movie, then when I came back and turned it back on it had actually increased charge but only to 62%. Like it's trickle charging or something.
Anyone experienced this before?
It sounds like your charger went bad and isn't putting out the proper power anymore.

Put it in a zip lock bag and throw it in the freezer, take it out and try to use it again. The thermal overload may not have reset itself, this has happened to myself and others a lot.

I can confirm. This fridge technic save money 2 or 3 times.

Wait, what am I throwing in the freezer and for how long? Tablet or charger?
Also make sure the charging block (where the plug is) is making a good connection where it snaps apart. Same thing happens to me when I first got mine. I put electrical tape around block to solve permanently.
Funnily enough this has just happened to me for the first time today, Ill give the freezer idea a try how long did you put in there for?
We're just putting the charging block in the freezer... right?

Yeah dude have a read of this : http://www.transformerforums.com/fo...ide-so-your-transformer-wont-charge-boot.html
Left it in for 30 minutes and nothing. Screen comes on, but doesn't register as charging. The wall adapter will charge my Galaxy Nexus though...
Check inside the port on the tablet. Make sure there is no debris, and the contacts are clean. Use a toothpick or something thin to clean as necessary(preferably non conductive).

Ive cleaned all the connectors, the strange thing is the ac power seems to be trickle charging it just as a usb port would.
Put charging into frozen and leave it 10-20 mins
Takeout and wait until it dry
It'll be work now. I'm used to be using this method

Me and the OP have tried that, and no hope, charges my phone fine, but trickle charges the tf (Might not be charging at all but the screen flashes on when first connecting)
Im on a Ubuntu / Revolver 4 dual boot so im gonna do a re-flash and bring everything back to stock and see how that goes

This is exactly what's happening with mine. If I turn the tablet off and leave it plugged in to the wall charger overnight it will go up a few dozen percent. And the wall charger charges my phone fine.
Let me know how flashing stock ROM goes for you please.
The charges supplies two voltages and requires taht any extension cable used be USB 3.0. The extra conductors in the USB3.0 cable ( and in the stock charging cable) are used to sense a gnd on pin 7 of the USB 3.0 configured connector. When that Gnd signal is present, the charger outputs 15V to charge the TF or dock. If you use a USB 2.0 extension cable ( extra conductors missing) or the charger does not see the gnd on pin 7 it reverts to 5V out. Your problem is that it is not seeing the gnd. on pin 7. Check the larger connector and the one on the bottom of the TF for bent or dirty pins. Your other option is to get the Dynex universal video power supply. Set the output voltage to 11V and just use USB 2.0 cables to charge. Remember not to use the dynex set to 11V to charge your cell phone or you will get smoke.
Can someone look at the port on the tablet itself and tell me if all pins should look identical? I am seeing what could be what looks like plastic debris around one of the pins toward the right. Or it could be a blocked pin used as a key to prevent plugging it in upside down. Not sure what it's supposed to look like.
I picked up a replacement wall charger today and it won't charge either. Looks like it's definitely an issue with the pins of the tablet itself. I put in a support request from Asus, but I don't know how much help they'll be. Especially if my warranty is up.
have you tried using another "asus" sync cable?
i sent my charger away for RMA as i thought it was gone (could trickle charge and pc would recognize tablet when connected - but it would not make a dent on the dock, not even the charge indicator light)......it still ended up being the sync cable at fault.
They sent me the old adaptor back with a new cable and alls well.

Yeah, I've actually tried four cables now. I had bought two extras off Ebay a while back and they were still in their bags. I tried those two, the cable the tablet came with, and a fourth one that came with the replacement wall charger I just picked up today. Between four cables and two chargers it definitely has to be the tablet at this point.

[Q] Please help. Phone not turning on after battery drained to zero

I gave my phone for repair to Sony, got it after 1.5 months. They said my battery is too low, so gave me another one just to check if the phone is working properly. I came home back, and the phone has been on charge for 2 hrs but it is not yet turning on, with LED continuously blinking red. After some research, I think that the reason is phone won't allow the battery to charge as it has drained to zero, and I need to jump start it by charging externally. But I don't have an external charger. I don't want to approach stupid Sony customer care again as I have had enough of them. Someone please help.:crying:
Have you checked the battery slot? Maybe its not reading/connecting properly... Try cleaning it up. Or leave battery out for a few minutes.

Have searched the forum to death regarding this and tried everything. The battery slot seems fine. Either Sony has damaged my phone's charging circuitry, or the problem is the complete battery drain. Do I need to charge the phone for several more hours? Is the battery now unusable after draining to zero?

Get a USB cable that you dont need and cut the mini end off to expose the wires. Plug the big end into a charging source (either PC or wall charger). Take the battery out of your phone and hold the red wire to the positive and the black to the negative( the battery terminals are marked), you will have to do this for at least 15 minutes or if you can use sellotape or blu tack for a longer period. This will hopefully put enough charge into the battery so that when it is reinserted into the phone it will be able to charge it normally. This is a common android problem.

Thanks infinite times, you r genius, that was the solution I was looking for. You saved me another trip to stupid Sony customer care. It is funny that despite these days of sophisticated technology, I had to resort to such primitive method for charging just because of the lazy manufacturers who want everything done by the readymade OS and cannot put in some extra hardware to overcome a serious and obvious defect. Thanks again.:good:
Your mother board might have a short. My previous phone have this issue and I had to use another Play to charge the battery. It also had battery drainage over night. I would recommend getting an external charger and extra battery, they're fairly cheap.

Nexus 7 Won't Turn On

Hey everyone,
I've tried searching, but no luck, so here's my issue.
My nexus 7 was around 25% battery last night so I plugged it in for the night.
Woke up this morning and the backlight was on, but the screen was off.
When I unplugged my n7 the backlight turned off. Hitting the power button had no effect.
I then tried pushing and holding the power button for roughly a minute, nothing.
I have disconnected the battery and still no response from the unit.
I plugged it back in for roughly a minute as well, still nothing.
Unfortunately I don't have access to a charger right now.
Is it possible the battery is dead even though it was on the charger all night?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using Tapatalk 2
Weird.
Just plugged it in to my car charger and it booted up. Battery is completely dead, so I guess with the backlight staying on all night it didn't charge.
Now why would the backlight stay on if the screen is off...

Don't go flashing different roms and kernels now like most of the idiots here, it could just have been your charger being faulty or a bad connection to the tablet overnight. if the problem happens again then you can investigate further.
BTW, were you charging from your PC/Laptop with a USB cable or through a wall adapter? i've had issues in the past charging my Nexus 4 and 7 not charging overnight on my PC
I feel like a broken record but since I've fixed a ton of n7s with loose battery connections, I would recommend checking the internal battery lead to make sure its not loose. Asus didn't do a good job of making sure all n7 batteries were secure and this allowed the battery to shift and pull the power lead out. Some clear scotch tape on the connector and one on the battery (avoid the copper tape areas) will eliminate this problem if that's what you have.

I ran into this problem. Initially, my Nexus 7 didn't start. When I plug in the charger the screen would flicker from time to time but there's no indication of charging. So I decided to open it up to see that the battery cable has loosened. So I managed to fix it and use it happily thinking that it won't happen again.
Since last week, the same issue happened. I thought it was the same issue and opened it up to see that the battery cable is firmly in place. So I got a shock. I removed it and re-inserted it again to see if it fixed it. But nope, it won't turn on. And now it's been a week and I don't know what to do It's nothing wrong with the loose cable cuz now it's firmly in place.
Now when I plug it in to charge, the screen will just flicker (as in the back light will turn on and off in 5 sec intervals). What do you think I should do? I tried holding the power button for 30 secs as well.
I bought this new from eBay and still under warranty. But I live in Sri Lanka. So when I bought it, I had to ship to a friend in the US and had to wait till he came down. So it's not easy for me to ship back and to receive another device. Hopefully I can find a solution to fix this myself.

Make sure that the cables between the battery and the connector are intact and not broken. One or two people reported a broken cable.
Does it boot while plugged in to the charger with the battery disconnected ? You could simply have a bad battery.

I checked again. The cables aren't broken. They are all in good shape.
It doesn't boot when I plug in. Actually it doesn't show anything on the screen. If I look closely I can see static flicker on the screen from time to time. Just like the static in TV but much much less. Like only a few of those in certain places.
When this happened the first time I opened it up to see the loose cable. So fixing that helped it then. But now I dunno what's causing it.

Might have to try a different charger, maybe something stronger. I JUST had that problem with my GF Nexus 7. It wouldn't boot with her normal charger and the screen would flicker like a TV. I used my Nexus 4 charger and it worked.
She had left the battery fully drain for over two weeks and I think the battery didn't appreciate it.

The TN7 has unfortunately been known to have wonky USB ports, so if you're having issues with it then you might want to contact the manufacturer and see about getting a replacement.
I had the same problem and I was able to fix it. Turn off the device, take a needle and try to narrow the USB port, GENTLY AND SLOWLY, try to make the hole to be tighter. I hope it helps. Tegra note is ****y stuff...
How?

Hey there my usb port, like many others has also gone bust. You mentioned trying to narrow the usb port, what do you mean by this? My tab has be useless for the past month since curries refused to repair it saying it was my fault. I guess its all down to me somehow fixing it any help would be appreciated. Thanks
Have you tried holding down the power button for around 30secs. My battery got drained completely and it didn't seem to be charging, even after a few hours using different chargers. After holding down the power button down for 30 seconds. Then releasing the button. Then pressing again. It came alive.
I may have had a different problem but hope it works for you.
charging problems...the port maybe?
Just bought a refurbished evga tn7 from ebay and it was charged 84% so cool. I played on it for a while bout maybe an hour or so. I left it to charge that night and it didn't charge very fast. Ever since it will only charge with the wall outlet with another cable or the one that came with it. Takes about 6 hours or so to charge even 40%. It also discharges very quickly about a percent a minute or so. It came with the 4.4.2 update. I love this tablet but I can hardly use it because of this. Please help!

hya - its not hard but you need some nerve, it is relatively easy to wire a QI wireless receiver direct to the battery then fit a charger into a suitable case.
I've done four of these now using fintie slate 7 extreme cases (ebay US) and QI elements from ebay UK. cost about 25 quid or so.
short term or as an alternative you can strip a usb cable or get a micro usb extension cable and wire that to the battery instead so you can charge it up using a smart USB charger. it is possible to wire into the charging circuit so it registers if you are carefull and solder to the board side of the USB otherwise the QI is probably a better option as the charger will switch off when it decides the battery has been charged minimising any possible fire risk from overcharging,
it is also possible to get a phone/computer repair shop to fit a new usb socket as the boards aren't available for some daft reason - they are listed on alibaba but not available.
the only issue is not having a working usb port but as long as you don't want to root the device it doesn't seem to be needed.

my wireless mod charges slower than it should as its only rated to 1A but not that slow - Ideally you need a 2A charger for tablets min 1A for decent charging, most phone chargers are 500-750mA.
otherwise turn the tablet off and all the power goes to charging.

Nexus 7 2012 - changed battery and charger jack - ? What now?

Advice appreciated. I tried every startup option from the web for "dead battery" etc. No success, so I obtained new battery and charger jack. (Connections rechecked)
But it still won't boot.
Is their anything else I can try, or is it for the rubbish bin?
D
Had the same issue. Got a new battery and it was 66% could not get it past that. I also changed the charger port . Did you make sure the cable connector was pushed down on the top ?. I also sprayed deposit on all connectors. Let it charge powered on for close to 30 hours. It now charges fully and battery seems to last. Still slow to charge but way better using a 2.4 ma charger ... hope this helps.
Screen blank
Desertrider, thanks.
My problem is slightly different. Would not start, had blank black screen, all dead. So I checked all connections, and then ordered new charger jack. Still dead, no charge.
So I ordered new battery (which theoretically should have had residual charge). Still dead, also after several hours of charge.
So I assume this means that some other component in the Nexus has failed, preventing revival of the tablet?
Has anyone similar experience and recommendations?
I have the exact same issue. I've removed the shielding and can feel the battery charging (from poor earth).
Did you get anywhere? I'm tearing my hair out.
No Success!

HI
I still have nothing. What do you mean by "feel the battery charging (from poor earth)."
Logically, with new battery and new charger jack, the battery should function.
So is it a screen failure issue? I wonder how one can test for this?
regards D
Bzzzz
If it's charging and you have the back cover off, stroke the batter and there is a slight buzzing sensation. Similar to macbooks and iPhones. Since they aren't rather earthed properly, you get a buzzing sensation when touching the metal parts.
I had consider a screen issue. Guess only way is to get a new LCD module? Probably the same price as one of these things second hand now.

Actually, doesn't the Nexus 7 support HDMI out? If so you could connect it to a tv. I have a feeling I may have a converter cable somewhere.
