Hello friends.
As all of us see, LG released their KitKat sources long time ago. Our great developers like @dr87 @Savoca @houstonn and others made it with Their hard work to merge them so we have two stable / nearly stable roms: Mahdi and PA. But what with other roms? Most of the roms are based on CM, so they still have bugs.. During months, CM doesn't seem to have done ANYTHING.
So my question is, how about to send a message (or spam, in any way u name it) by all of us to CM, to the maintainer? We have official support, but in fact it's "support without support" in my opinion. Maybe after these messages they would finally start to do something, because it's like they forgot about G2...
Regards.
EDIT: so we have a way to contact => https://jira.cyanogenmod.org/secure/Dashboard.jspa
now we should make a well, polite message so everyone would copy it and drop there.
Another way it would be to ask the maintainer directly https://plus.google.com/+RicardoCerqueira
EDIT2: I gave a comment to Ricardo on Google+ here https://plus.google.com/+RicardoCerqueira/posts/4dc8kVBYuTq feel free to do it as well
The best bet would be to create an improvement note at their so called "Bug Tracker" considering that they are doing this for free, this would be the most polite form.
I support this initiative, but today be entirely honest M6 for me is almost bug free, fast and battery efficient.
Up to date sources is great, but if a rom is working well, I don't care if the sources are old!

I personally had CM for some time, and it never was so stable as Mahdi R1 which i have now. Besides that, a lot of roms like Carbon or Slim can't be simply updated from CM sources, so they still have bugs.

Replyed 2 times to posts in his google + account with message " When LG G2 is going to have updated KK sources? A lot of people are waiting for bug-free CM and CM-based 4.4 ROMs ". I hope that all you guys do the same.Cheers

Just to clarify, roms that are based on CM do not need CM to upgrade to 4.4.2 sources. The upgrade is done in the device tree / vendor files and kernel. The rom source does not need any changes and each rom maintainer for the G2 has the power to upgrade their rom to 4.4.2 G2 sources without CM doing anything, they just need to figure out the specific device tree bugs for each rom and fix them.
I am under the impression you think CM needs to upgrade in order for CM based roms to upgrade, feel free to correct me if I'm wrong :good:

apparently theres a bit of confusion, there was some one nightly where the rotation wasnt working with the jb baseband, (im gussing on that nightly he used the kk source ) because flashing the kk baseband on that build fixed the rotation issue, but im not quiet aware of what the situation is ince im back on stock. anyways ill be swinging it on the latest nightly just to clarify my doubts. and im pretty sure they just want the maintainer to switch to kk source , btw nice to see you here hope your cooking something great for us

Well, in the past I had some Android phones, and CyanogenMod was always first with upgrading everything, and then other developers were basing their ROMs on these updates. I mean, they updated everything, end other ROMs were updated fast. They're not giving support which they were giving in the past, that's all.

Oh
Greetings.
Development for the Moto E has been progressing slowly. The few wonderful developers helping us have released builds with some issues that I'm sure with time will be resolved. They have lives and many other things to do, so I'm only grateful with them for taking the time to code for our "lower end" device.
That being said, and taking in consideration that our devices are low cost, could it be possible for us users to donate a few dollars each to send a device to a dedicated maintainer who is part of a development group?.
I personally love Carbon ROM. I have been using that ROM on different devices and always with the best of results. Simply put, I cannot use any other. It is as stable as CM, has all the right configuration options as AOKP, and coupled with Xposed, you can get your own perfect configuration.
I sent a private message to Carbon Dev, and they told me that as long as they have a physical device on hand, they can add it to the official list of supported devices.
I will donate $20. And I'm sure if every one of you can donate $1, we can easily get a Moto E to Carbon Dev in no time.
Is anyone else willing to help me to reach the proposed goal above detailed?.
Let me know, this could be a great alternative for our device.
I'm in!
I'm in with five bucks. Maybe more, if required.
Thank you for the couple of answers. But I think it's not going to be enough.
A shame since we non-developer users could help ourselves this way.
Anyway, it was worth a try.
I THINK...
Is more importan get oficial support from cyanogenmod... And with this files we can port other roms

I don't think there will be official support for dual Sim variant, as cm does not allow any device specific hacks in their builds. The single Sim variant got a chance.

the procedure for making CM support official :
1- All the hardware working on stock rom should work in CM build
2- no FC should be there
3- After making it stable we have to give Full source code ( github repo. ) to CM official devs.
4- they try it for atleast 3 weeks then if they found almost stable CM then they add it to their official support

There is no term as a cm Dev. There are a lot of devs that post to cm builds.
If a new devices comes to the market, a new developer, who owns the device, can build cm for the device and fix issues, if any.
If cm makes it official, that particular Dev will be official maintainer for the device.

I think it would be the same procedure as Carbon Team. Give them a device.
I would not mind giving $20, but we all need to contribute. Giving thanks does not help in this very specific case.

Ya I know giving only thanks does not help in this very specific case but I should do that much what I can I do as I am still a 16 year old student who gets rs70 as pocket money per week. So I don't have that much amount of money to contribute but still I can contribute an amount less than or equal to Rs 200 if it helps. It was less amount so I didn't mentioned . I really want development for moto e.
But how come there are loads of Roms for moto g dual Sim variant ???????

actually for offcial support. first the device tree must be stable. for use no fingerprint or laserfocus. offcial nightlies will come only if they are fix by a dev . Just pray it happens soon.then only custom rom flow will start

That's probably Oneplus 2 doesn't have an official device maintainer in the Cyanogenmod division.

The way official CM works is by getting a solid unofficial release with a device/vendor tree, then somebody offers to maintain an official branch.
Complaining about it without contributing anything isn't going to help. Why don't you offer to do all the work and maintain the OP2 for CM?

Hello all,
Can any dev actually make official TWRP for Redmi 3s. I know cofface and the other guy made TWRPs but they aren't official.
So if anyone who knows Chinese can either contact those devs and ask for them to develop twrp officially.
Or if any one can actually develop an official version for our device.
Kind regards all
Official means if TWRP devs work on it
I don't think they've that much time to work on such devices
Instead they make it for premium phone.
And it's not hard to port TWRP if you've the original one
Please read the official twrp site, they only need sources, once the twrp is built for a device.
Redmi 3, redmi 1s, redmi note 2 all have official twrp
Oh come on people, this is the first step to official custom ROMs
can anyone tell me what is stopping them to make official TWRP for so long? every single device has it even redmi 1s redmi 3 and redmi note
Well I'm guessing that the devs are contemt with the cofface and flou twrps, but it would still be nice if we got the attention of somebody, who knows how to build a recovery and make it official.
I would do it, but I would need to learn from scratch and it would probably take to long
Devs pls help
I never really understood why people are unsatisfied with unofficial builds, as long as they work without any issues

there is the reason they are unofficial,it all depends on one person ro maintain regular updates,no regular fixes less room to work with and btw not a single build so far is bugless or stable on our device so maybe that is why. No one fixed dark video in camera recording so far for almost 3 months with kernel source out.
So no one with a bit of knowledge is willing to to do this. I'll try to make a build, but cannot guarantee I'll successed

Official is when TWRP acknowledged it as trusty
i.e.: an Official build is updated every week, month, and is always upgraded to the next level of android, or not. (Redmi 3 still has 5.1 TWRP official, but no 6.0)
Unofficial is when it wasn't acknowledged, so a developer/user built it from scratch, and it gets only updated once, or twice, It depends on the user/developer itself.
Once I get my 3S finally (possibly after 2 weeks), I'll try to make a bugless TWRP
The TWRP we are using is basically a port (I couldn't find anywhere else the sources for Redmi 3S TWRP)
Given by how Kenzo is similar to Land, I have made a semi-working TWRP tree
https://github.com/Kizoky/android_device_xiaomi_land
It needs a pre-built kernel, which is obviously based on Stock or CM (Stock would be the best)
https://github.com/Kizoky/android_device_xiaomi_land/blob/android-6.0/BoardConfig.mk
It is lined out here.
Also, If some of you found some bugs within this tree just let me know
I won't make it as a seperate thread unless It is fully functional
Yey, thank you @Kizoky

Even though I have a strong PC, I don't have a large unneeded space for building Android (613GB is not enough when it is 90% full)
I am new to the OnePlus community. How developer friendly are their phones? I was planning to get a Pixel as my next phone, but the spec and price for th Op5 look tempting.
Can we expect TWRP support and custom ROMs on the OnePlus 5?
Considering the amount of ROMs and various other development we've been getting with the OnePlus 3/3T, I can think we can expect something similar. OnePlus is an amazing company in that sense - especially since unlocking your bootloader doesn't void your warranty. (At least with the OnePlus 3/3T).
All required sources will be released by OP shortly. It will be simple to port the trees to LineageOS, so we can build custom roms for the OP5. I will start building RR as soon as the LineageOS sources are ready
Well with op3 it took a while to get working fp sensor on aosp roms, and they still have to use camera blobs (for the people out of the loop, that means slower camera.
Of course we can expect that - every OP phone until now got HUGE support by xda-devs
But i think this time i will ony flash TWRP and use Stock OxygenOS with Magisk

You mean, as soon as we have a working TWRP build... Same here btw. But I will try to be more active here as I was in the Oneplus Two forums. Just ordered a Oneplus 5 myself .
I have had the op3t , op3. OP has been sluggish to say the least with dropping kernel sources.. if you'd like some entertainment, take a look for @fransisco Franco's lashing towards Carl Pei and OnePlus. In order for a company to be considered "developer friendly," they need to share the sources in a timely matter.. they have improved as of late.
With all that being said, there is great beta testing and support in the XDA threads from @FuNkwizard.
I'm looking forward to this op5 beast!

They really should release the camera sources so custom ROMs can utilise them. This is a big annoyance for me.
Device Trees and Kernel Sources been uploaded yesterday.

Do we have any visibility of which Developers/ROM teams are planning on supporting the OnePlus 5?
I know there will be great support for this device, especially with the kernel sources and device tree already out but curious as to whether people like Sultan are making the move up to 5 or staying put on the 3/3T?
