Hello I am hoping someone can help me out, just recently my S5 developed a couple of faults. First it shut down on its own and would not get past the Samsung logo, while booting back up it would keep shutting down and restarting again. I put the phone in recovery mode, cleared the cache and did a full reset, this did not fix the problem. I then replaced the battery and things got a little better, the phone booted up and I thought it was fixed. The next day however, the screen started to jump especially whilst typing. This gradually got worse throughout day and the phone is pretty much unusable now. Also after the phone has been in standby, it will not wake up when I press the power button, and only the menu lights will light up, the only way to get it back on is to pull the battery out. The phone has stock firmware and I have tried to take some photos of the problem.
TIA

I've been on Passion since it dropped with no problem, but it shut off today and wouldn't stay on like a dead battery. I charged and the problem persisted so I odined to stock, flashed bionix but it still does the same thing. It usually doesn't get past the vibrant screen but will stay on for sometimes a couple of minutes at most. Any ideas?

help please
The first time I odined it stayed on long enough to set the phone up, the second time I odined I tried the factory reset afterwards, also did not work. Out of a dozen times of
powering up, it will only make it past the vibrant screen once, then it shuts off with no vibration. After it turns on the first time after Odin, it won't turn back on until I Odin again. It won't go into recovery by 3 button, but the power menu works on the occasion it stays on long enough. It even powered down while in recovery. It stays on indefinitely in download mode and goes right into download mode
Sounds like hardware. Can a battery be so bad it kills phone even on external power? I would look at battery contacts and the battery itself. They are pretty cheap on ebay.
Pretty sure it is an internal issue, it looks like an exhibit for me until May upgrade. Tried everything I know to do and it won't pass odin now, fails on factory rfs
If it is constantly powering down even while charging, it sounds like hardware. You might send it to the Unbrickable Mod guy.
Hi.
So, yesterday evening I plugged in my Galaxy S4 I9505 (international, and running stock Android 4.2.2) since it had low battery, then set the alarm clock and went to bed. Today I woke up, checked my clock (not the phone's, my actual clock), and since it was earlier than when my alarm would ring I took the phone to check my emails a bit... only to find out that the phone was stuck on the lockscreen and was not responding to anything. Perplexed, I took the battery off, put it back on, switched the phone on and it seemed to work fine, only to freeze again after a few minutes. I took once again the battery off, put it back on, and this time it didn't turn on at all. I tried several times, tried also while charging, but it doesn't even seem to charge, the led is completely dead. I tried to boot into recovery, nothing. Once or twice when I tried to turn it on it would show on the upper part of the screen an extremely fast and small red text, like the ones you see in recovery but red instead of green, but it was so fast in appearing ad disappearing that I didn't even have time to read it.
Then I tried googling the problem, and of all the different methods only one seemed to work: take off the battery for 10 seconds, put it back on, press volume down + power + home. Which I did try before, but without waiting before putting in the battery again. I tried it this time with the 10 seconds of waiting (while not plugged in to the charger), and it worked. The screen asked if I wanted to flash a CR or just restart. I choose restart. The phone immediately died again and didn't turn on, not even with the method that worked a few seconds before.
I haven't been able to turn it on since then, and I've tried everything. I'm quite desperate, because I have AADD and I do everything with my phone, it's my lifesaver and the only thing with which I'm able to organize and remember stuff (including my daily meds). Also the only thing I never forget to bring with me. I literally can't stay more than a full week without it, is there anything I can do or try to make it work again?
Is there really no one who can help me?

mate try to use a charged battery from anther s4 switch it on
I was running this custom rom beautifully fine for over a year now since I got my phone.
Recently I've had so many problems. My phone just randomly shutdowns down and it's very hard to get it to boot up again. If i hold down the power nothing happens or I just get 1 vibration. Taking the battery in and out doesn't do anything. I left it for 5 minutes out and put battery back in it just vibrates a little (samsung logo apepars for a second) and nothing happens, even when I hold power button. Can't get into download mode either.
I tried 2 different batteries too.
Really not sure what to do. I tried a factory reset a whilst back and i thought everything was okay but now it just won't even boot up.
Whenevr it does decide to turn on it just dies after a random period of time.

emm.. your description is confusing a bit... does your phone boots, or not?
If not, call the Samsung service centre (if I'm right, one is in Milton Keynes even, if not, there is another one in Derby).
If it does: try factory wipe and pure stock reflash.

Hello. Please forgive my ignorance regarding the technical aspects of methods discussed on these forums.
I have a Samsung Galaxy S4 GT-I9505 supplied by Vodafone Australia. This was received today as a replacement for a screen issue I had with my previous S4. On the previous S4, I had rooted using a Saferoot method as read about on this forum. Later I had installed Xposed to use Keepchat and everything was fine. Today I have rooted this replacement phone successfully using the same method, and then moved to install Xposed. The Xposed application required an update, the very first option in the app was red and suggested an update or a reboot, and the reboot did nothing, so I pressed update. The phone turned off but didn't restart. I tried the usual button presses and battery pulls and finally a simple power up using the standard power button started the phone up. It got as far as the lock screen I believe, before shutting down again. It is now unresponsive. It wont turn on, enter the boot menu (multi button holding method) or charge. I believe the battery is quite low at this point, and unable to charge, causing me some consternation. It has now been over 30 minutes with no response.
If anyone could provide a resolution to this issue, I would be extremely thankful.
Regards,
CaleS

Hello again.
I have an update on my situation.
I left the phone on charge and it eventually turned on by itself. I played around with it for a while and it seemed OK. Eventually it turned off again. I had to pull the battery to get it to turn back on. After starting up again, getting to the lockscreen, it turned off again. This process repeated many times, until I got frustrated.
The next day I thought I'd try a factory reset via volume up + power, and the device managed to stay on long enough for this to complete. After the phone reset, I used it for a while and again it turned off. The same cycle continued.
Perhaps the phone is naturally faulty, despite my rooting attempt, as it was a refurbished model. I am quite happy to return it for another replacement under warranty, however I may not be able to do it as the device is rooted. I would gladly remove the root using stock firmware and Odin, however the phone resets after a few seconds of entering download mode.
Any advice?
Thanks.
Sounds to me you have a faulty power button. It's somehow stuck that's why it even reboots in download mode. It's a common problem for the S4. Try to wedge it or replace it.
if it is refurbished model it might as well be dead battery.
battery sensor detects "low battery" state and shutdown phone saying battery 0% - to protect battery against fully depleted state (damaging to max capacity or even impossible to charge at some point)
if you power it on again it will boot and say it has like 1% left and you will be able to use it for few more moments, but doing so will degrade your battery.
powering it on, going to lock screen for it to shutdown on its own again sounds like weak power source
imagine above scenario happening several times (previous owner of the phone kept "reviving" it after shutdown due to battery 0%)
that would resulted in battery able to hold only fraction of its standard power - allowing you to just boot your phone before it shuts down.
I had similar situation with my laptop battery (this one was on AC all the time) - battery was so damaged that laptop was shutting down at windows login screen - if booted on battery alone.
When booted on AC and unplugged it said 100% battery, that went down to 0% in a matter of around 2 minutes, when laptop shuts down.
Heres the entire story, I woke up my Zte was at 100% so I went to school and it was working fine until I took it out of my pocket and noticed it fully shut down so I booted it up and went on, the same thing happend like 6 times through out the day until I started to uninstall some apps I had that might have been causing issues, which it wasn't fixed by that, so I got Malabytes Anti-Malware and ran a scan and no viruses, which I uninstalled after using. Then at around 2:00PM I was on my Zte it had 40% battery left while I just booted it up for like the 10th time and it loaded and once it started I was looking on the home screen and it randomly froze for the first time and it had like a glitched thin line thru the bottom side of the screen going left to right, I stared at it for a bit looking like what is going on, then it shut off and it was a abnormal shut down, the screen went black and turned off as apposed to a normal shut down it will run some text on screen saying "Shutting Down" the vibrates which that didn't happen. So I was like this was probably what it was doing in my pocket so I tried to boot it back up and it was unresponsive and it turned off with 40% so I know it wasn't out of battery. For the next 10 min I kept trying to turn it on and it didn't work so I was like I will let it rest. So 40 mins later I tried it and it went to the Zte boot screen but never booted up it was stuck there I couldn't even turn it off with the Power off or Volume + Power buttons combo, and yes the power and volume buttons worked prior to this. So I was like well this is weird I will let the battery die then charge it then boot it. So it died then I plugged it in the wall with all original charging stuff, I woke up next morning and I tried it and it vibrated and it has nothing on screen and a Red Led and it has been like that since, the battery is gonna take a lot longer to die hence it has nothing on screen it is just black with a red led. I love this phone to death it has kept me from being bored in school and now i'm back 2 being bored. I particularly want to fix this my self and not have to send it somewhere for repair and I would also like to save the data on it as well if possible but if not I would still rather have a phone.
HELP ME EXPERTS! Thank You! :good:
These phones don't age well unfortunately. Don't feel bad it's not your fault. RMA if you somehow still have warranty. If not I'm sorry but your screwed, most likely the emmc chip went mad and there's no repairing that for an axon 7. I know, they're nice while they last.
You run stock firmware?if yes,you always be on stock?
