Why is the file name the same as the 4.4.2 OTA zip? Shouldn't it be something like *212.44.21.ghost_row.Retail.en.US*zip?
How flash or install?

that's motorola's naming convention. they name it by the version you're coming from.

file name including 161.44.25 references the build your phone must be on to accept the update, not the version of the update itself. That is how Moto has done it for some time now.

my device is XT1053 GSM Developer Edition (No carrier). Can i flash it? Currently, i try to flash from stock recovery and i am having "EMMC:boot:1048........" has unexpected contents. Installation Aborted.
Worked fine on my device. I have the AT&T phone, but flashed it (unlocked bootloader) with the TMO/Developer software.
Thanks!

Just flashed my XT1053 in stock recovery after disabling Xposed, installing stock recovery and making sure I unfroze Chrome/Play Music with Titanium. Taking a while after boot to Optimize the apps but it did the same thing last night when I switched to ART.
All good up and running 4.4.3, rooted and using ART.

I am still stock recovery, but I believe TWRP has added adb sideload support too. I did it using the commandline interface, I've never used moto x toolkit.
I hope it isnt too much to ask but i'd really appriciate it if someone made a TWRP/CWM backup of the system and boot for me? Thanks...
hey... someone try on XT1058 model?

Not a duplicate. This thread just has 5.1 for xt1095. The other thread has xt1092, xt1093, xt1095, xt1096, and xt1097. This topic is more specific, the other topic is more general.

Motorola has stated that they will be posting the 5.1 image for the XT 1095.
Motorola has also fixed the 5.0 image that is available so that after you flash 5.0 you can take the 5.1 OTA.

Wonder why Motorola hasn't changed their instructions on their website?
It still says to flash motoboot.img and gpt.bin
Has anyone flashed the full 5.1 image coming from the 60.11 bootloader?
If so did your bootloader change to 60.16 I really want to steer clear of that boot loader.
I already bricked one phone on 60.16 bootloader and don't want to screw up my replacement.

Those commands are necessary for an upgrade. They won't and should not remove them.

I mean using these commands when downgrading then taking an OTA.
The instructions aren't clear in this regard and people have bricked on the 60.16 bootloader.

If you read the motorola website about the 5.1 update they say that once you upgrade you can't downgrade. We ignore them and do it anyway... So if we brick it, it's our fault not theirs. Their instructions are correct, we are doing something they don't want nor support.

where these images come from? while the official is not released yet.
There is a link now on Motorola's website for the 1095 5.1 factory image. Not working for me, but it's there.
The Motorola link for the 5.1 restore image has been fixed.

Question is in the title.

But that are full images, I'd prefer a ota because I'm not into flashing with Motorola devices :/
If you flash just the service file.XML with rsd you get 6.0.1 with all your data intact.

can you tell me shortly, how to do it exactly?

RDS Lite is the easiest way but fastboot or Mfastboot works.
RDS Lite

This is the guide I used. But instead of editing the XML file just select servicefile.XML in rsd and flash away!
Hello,
I have a rooted P8 lite on lollipop and i want to flash marshmellow. I heard that you need stock recovery to flash a ota, where can i find those?

You can find stock recovery by downloading a Update.app file from Huawei and using Huawei Update Extractor tool to unpack the .app file. I think you have to use the same package as your system is (for example if your build is B370, use that). If something goes wrong you can always flash everything back from fastboot
