Nexus 6p Bluetooth issue !!! - Nexus 6P Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I brought my Nexus 6p at the same time as my friend and his 6p seems to have a strange Bluetooth issue. I don't have the issue (havnt tried it on his cars stereo) but when you cover the top left corner the Bluetooth singal cuts out...any one experience this ?
He sent me this terrible video (video of a recording from an iphone, apologies ) but I cannot replicate the issue. Anyone else having this issue ?!?!?

ouch is all i can say if this is 100% true.
i've read other post people complaining about bluetooth on this device.. grounding? hardware flaw? weird when he covers it .. it does that..

Ouch right ... Well its defo true and he is really pissed off about it. Has to be hardware related which is not a good thing. Just wanted to see if any others can try it out and see if they are experiencing the same issue
Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk

seems hardware issue. RMA it.

I am able to replicate this with my BT receiver I have connected to my HT setup in my living room. If I put fingers on each side of the phone at the top corners it immediately cuts out completely. Remove them and it starts working again immediately.

Tried to replicate but bt didn't cut out

If I could shoot a video of it I would but I already factory reset my n5
Screw it breaking out the n5.

This is the best Bluetooth ever in a smartphone it has Bluetooth 4.2chips never had a single problem with it

I was about to post the video, but I was like I've been using BT since I got it and this hasn't been an issue yet. And then I thought, wait, and checked to see if I could cause the same problem with the N5 and.. Yes. I can.
BT is known to have these issues transmitting though body parts we just happened to find a way to get the 6P to do it. I would imagine you could find a way to get most phones to do this if you tried.

Yeah I was able to reproduce this on my nexus 5 and note 3... I always thought it was my phone lagging or my Bluetooth device buggering up.
This was a good find. Though it does seem like it's easier to cut off the 6P then the other two devices. Thanks for the observation guys, was enlightening.

This is normal behavior. Bluetooth works on a very high frequency and does not go well through solid objects such as your hand. The module is located at the top right corner of the upper glass top.
I'll even say that most Bluetooth issues on smartphones with sound cutting out are a result of that very reason. Depending on where the antenna is located you may be blocking it.

Is this what everyone complains about?

Just got my nexus 7 in today. It seems fine, although, I noticed that con the cleft side of the screen, it seems to be slightly raised in the middle. The corners attached fine. Are people sending out back for this? It doesn't seem like an issue, just an annoyance
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
Sounds like it. Seems like it's always on the left side for some reason. It's lifts up over the bezel and you can push down on it and it lifts again later. That is how mine is... or was hopefully.
I heated it up with a game, then put a couple clamps on it, left it over night turned off, and today it has stayed down so far. Hope the adhesive that is suppose to hold the glass down sticks now.
I had a previous one though that was slightly different, it was raised on the left side, but I couldn't push it down. Seemed like a screw was tightened too far or something. I sent that one back.
Either deal with it or get a refund if it really bothers you. You can also try number of fixes that are posted on these forums. They pretty much all have this issue to some degree.

Yes this is it, but the real problem is if it makes a noise when you push on it. THATS the annoying part.
Mine doesn't make any noise, although it definitely is a tiny bit squishy and if you try and push hard on it, it does act a little like an LCD monitor. I just didn't care enough to try and return it, as I would have never noticed it if everyone hadn't had their panties up in a wad as much as they did. I figure the worst that happens is that it gets worse over the next year and I end up having to spend a whole $200 more on a newer model.
I agree. I can't imagine this truly hurting the experience. Oh well. Not a big deal as long as it works well

Are you guys serious? If I buy a product, it better not have defects. Why would anyone settle for bad quality? Products these days should not have any issues with the technology we have.
This doesn't make sense to me.
Mine is arriving next week and I hope everything is perfect.

I agree, if it was a true issue I would get a new one. In my case, it is only raised in the middle, and not that noticeable. Everything else is fine. You can fix that too
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Besides it shouldn't affect performance. I hope
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
When I got my second one from the play store, it looked like the middle of the left side was raised. I thought I pushed it down but it never came back up.
I keep looking at it and touching it but nothing. I don't know if I imagined it or maybe bad lighting.
Just install a TPU case where the lip overhangs the screen. Problem solved. Out of sight out of mind. I'm enjoying my N7.
If its a problem 6 months later then I'll call and exchange it. Big whoop.

Doesn't affect my daily use so why should I care. I purchased a two year warranty through square trade should anything go wrong. I shouldn't expect defects but if it truly isn't hurting anything, then meh.

I don't think that they all have this issue, only a select few. I have been lucky enough to get 4 Nexus 7's and no issues. I have seen the issue posted on the site several times though, and the fixes seem pretty easy. There are some youtube videos on fixing it too. Good luck fixing it mate, would take advantage of the warranty if I were you.
Thank you! I can't understand why anyone would send it in for something like that

You can't understand how when someone holds their tablet by the left bezel and it creaks like a floor board, they'd like to return it? That perhaps when using the tablet as a book they don't want to be distracted by clicking noises?

I am not talking about a problem to that extreme, I am talking about, a very slight raise in the middle, with no squeak. The only thing that I can think of that could be bothersome about that is that when you push hard on the bezel, a little bit of the left screen ripples

I have exact the same problem as described. They most annoying part is they "cracking" sound it does when tapping on the left side. I curious whether the touchscreen responsivness issue is somehow related to this problem.
Btw I thought it might be related to the processor since its also on the left side, maybe the heat causes the glue to detach ... if you know what I mean.

Just discovered a stuck pixel. Dang

[Q] Camera angled badly - just me?

I haven't had any great use of the camera yet so I haven't noticed this until now. If I hold my Nexus 7 (portrait) with the camera at a level with my nose I just barely get my face in the display with a lot of space above my head. I have to tilt the whole thing towards me and it would make video chat uncomfortable.
I've asked a friend who owns one and they have the same issue so I want to know how many others, if any, have this issue. I haven't heard anything about it here or elsewhere but I have to admit to only doing a brief search before posting this thread.
If I hold mine perfectly vertical with the camera at nose level about 8 inches away my face is perfectly centered in the screen.

I've sent off a support question to ask if it's a known issue. I don't think it would be enough of an issue for me to return it but I'd like to know that I can if choose to.
OK last update for anyone interested. I got a reply and it is a known issue so you can get a warranty replacement if you want one.

Constant buzzing in earpiece during calls

As the title says, there's a constant static. Will changing earphones help? Or it a problem with phone itself like review sites say? Is there any solution because this static makes conversation impossible which pretty much defeats the purpose of the phone. If I get RMA will others phones also have this defect?
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 2
Also noticed that static goes away when I cover the speaker with something.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 2
I have static in my earpiece with the default in call volume (which is all the way up). When I turn the volume down some I don't have it and the volume is still plenty loud. I'm not sure if it's the same noise your having.
Not sure if problem is same as yours. Noise is kinda like static which you hear in electrical interference. Something like the sound you hear from PC speaker when your phone is near it and you get a call or SMS that time. That kind of sound constant goes up and sometimes down randomly but its almost there all the time while using earpiece only, not without it. Funny thing is when I cover up the back side speaker with my hand that static goes away. Its really strange I don't know what's going on. Never had anything so irritating and unbearable on my previous galaxy s2
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 2
Known nexus 4 issue. If it's not loud enough, I recommend you to just keep it and ignore it. If it's really loud, try RMA. Mine also buzzes but I just ignore it. People think that it is due to poor shielding or something
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
I have the same problem. I will be asking for a replacement, because if people just accept it, it will never get fixed. This is a defect.
This is an old issue. One of the first since the N4 came out. I have always wondered if it is a noise cancellation feature gone bad. Like the buzzing wasn't meant to be so loud, but for one reason or another just got a little stronger than what it was supposed to be.

I think I agree with others that its a hardware issue because when I keep my hand on speaker the problem goes away. Plus I talked to a couple of people who said they had their phones replaced up to 3 times!! And still ended up with a defective piece. Very bad on googles part, I would have been happier to pay more but at least get a reliable device in return. I had my phone imported so RMA will be hell for me and even after that there is no guarantee. Just sad on googles part, just sad.

Check your speakers!

Just to make you all aware.
On my first 6p bottom speaker was noticeably more quiet. I thought its they way it has to be. Only when I got replacement I realised it must have been faulty. Now both speakers sound evenly and it is louder then previous one.
Something to look for when you get yours

I have ordered mine on the 1/10 from CPW. Got it this Monday. It had a small kind of dent in bottom back cover so got a replacement yesterday and now it has a pink tint on top.
Speakers are awesome though.

Have the same issue on mine. The bottom speaker sounds noticeably muted compared to the top. It's really the only issue with this one so I'm worried about RMAing and getting something worse.

The speakers too? OMG is there anything not being defective with this new phone? I keep reading people having issues with the display, speakers, body damage, there was even a report of a device shutting down on it's own and unable to boot completely...Is it the same with every Nexus launch? I can't remember reading about that many issues with the Nexus 6

This is my 4th Nexus device. My Nexus 7 (2012) was perfect as far as I could tell but others experienced issues with theirs. My Nexus 7s (2013) all had phantom touch and random rebooting issues. I went through 5 RMAs before I cut my losses and sold the new one they sent me. My Nexus 5 was mostly fine a little bit of button rattling but other than that no issues and still going strong. Now onto my 6P with speaker issues. It's frustrating to go through this but I really love these devices and Google has great customer service. I just expect when I pay $500 for something that it will function properly.

Same issue here. Noticed something was off right away. First time I've had to RMA a Nexus device.
Thanks for the heads up!
I tested my speakers and MAN I AM HAPPY!
I'm coming from the OG G2 and its the best phone on the planet (besides its 1 backside speaker)
So its like I went from last to first. I love how loud the 6p is.
One of first things I did when I got mines. The top speaker on mines sounded louder. So then I tried flipping the phone around and the now top speaker (which is the bottom speaker) sounded louder. So now I think mine are fine lol.
EDIT: I then tried covering each speaker with my finger and the top sounds louder. Honestly it does not sound any way to me though so dont think I will be RMA mine.
What I did notice, at full volume both seem to be the same....however at 50% or less the top seems a little louder.
the sad thing is I just got a bluetooth speaker in and its great and loud. My old phone had such a small speaker(lg g2). The 6p is as loud as my new bluetooth speaker so its not needed as much.

Funny thing is I did the same thing. Flipped the phone around and the top was a little louder. I wonder if it could just be a software issue? Either way everything else (especially the screen) is good on my device. I can't be bothered to RMA for something that probably will be fixed with software. If it is hardware on my device it's nearly unnoticeable.
I called google today about this and they said it was intentional and that replacing the device will not change it.
Apparently a lot of people are calling about it.
man... mine is like this, i was hoping i just had bad hearing. do i want to rma it and risk getting a device with something else wrong....

Don't do it, i returned my first for a tiny defect in the corner of the plastic holding the screen in and got one with a worse defect right next to rhe power button.. Waiting for my third, should have stuck with the first!
Its barely noticeable but my top one is every so slightly crisper and louder. But its one those things where id never have noticed had I not seen this post so I see no reason to RMA.
Here is a test viddy for the speakers

Camera recording clicking noise

Just noticed my camera while recording and focusing makes a click or distortion noise which is very minimal but I also noticed that it gets picked up in the video recordings. Anyone else having this issue? My device has no other issue besides this and really don't want to roll the dice and get a bad RMA.
So no one is having this issue?

I just got a replacement and it is a little better. I still get the slight buzzing from the laser focus. At this point I believe it's the design and how close the mic is.

Actually, i found a work around. If you turn off wifi and do the recording, the clicking noise is gone. It's either the mic is placed too near the wifi receptor or it could be fixed by software else..... i hope it's the latter.

Good to know, my first one was picking up another noise almost as if the camera focusing was making a noise. This on is less noticeable and I can only hear it when I am shooting something in complete silence.
