Coming from an LG device, I kind of miss the dual window feature. Is there any way to bring dual window for 6p?
I was on a marshmallow rom with my oneplus one and this feature is easily implemented. Just remember with root just about anything is possible.

Edit your build.prop to have the userdebug build type.
Add "persist.sys.debug.multi_window=true" at the end of the build.prop. That's it

Thanks for this works great.
Can see why it's a hidden mode though, the implementation is a bit of a mess isn't it? Pretty glitchy.
I had a s6 before and this feature was very well done by Samsung.
Once we edit the build prop, how do we put it to use? I'm highly interested in this.
Edit: I'm also trying to use ES File Explorer to edit the build.prop. I found two build.props; one file has way more code than the other. Which one do I edit? And ES File Explorer is telling me that there is an error when trying to save the edited build.prop. Any insight?

Just use free tool build prop editor. Click edit, go to bottom paste that line in, save reboot go to settings, about phone, tap build number 7 times, go to developer options, scroll down until you see multi window, enable, accept that it's beta. Now when you select recents each window had shapes on top left, this is where you chose what goes where

This is app developer issue, the way Google incorporated it the app needs to be compatible.
Sammy uses their own interface TouchWiz and their multi window works totally different, but even there only select apps would work right?

Hi, Just wanted to guide you the a newly released and modded LG-G2 and G Pro Keyboard from SGS4 threads
that also works on the nexus 5 running AOSP, CM11, Stock based Roms (other Roms need to be tested).
Rom need to be rooted to add features.
For those who love Cataclysm like 5 row keyboard and for those who hate stock English (US)(PC) input.
Download apk link and support is on the following.. (remember this is a nexus 5, not a SGS4).
As this is not my work/discovery, don't forget to thank the dev 'gerardroid' in his actual thread.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2618023
Test and mention your Rom.
Working on stock rooted. Nice. Thanks.

You should edit build.pro with a file explorer or any app that allows to edit it.
It is stated at the end of the OP in red color.
The first one will enable 5th row. these are:
ime_extend_row_keyboard=true
ime_onehand_keyboard=true
ime_split_keyboard=true
ime_vibration_pattern=0:20
ro.config.libemoji=libemoji_lge.so
ro.lge.capp_emoji=true

Ok. the problem is ES File Explorer itself which fail to mount read/write the system folder.There are some workaround for that but
a quick solution is to download the free app 'Root Browser' by JRummy and edit using that app instead IT must work.

You need root to edit the file and I'd advise keeping a backup on the extSD.

Yeah it should. Just thought I'd try it and it works but with a few caveats.
1. You lose a bit of screen real estate on the bottom.
2. I can't seem to take screenshots with power and home button. I tried the same thing with the onscreen button and nada. Swipe and screen wirte still work fine though.

I'm not sure of the app your referring to. But the file you want to edit is in the /system folder. Use a root file explorer and edit the build.prop file. I myself use ES file explorer but any root explorer should work.
Edit:
-before you change anything copy(backup) the build.prop to your ExtSd.
-After you have edited the file, Restart and the changes will take effect.

I'm curious why this is needed? You can simply choose not to have those shown when you edit the quick settings menu? Excuse my ignorance but I'm trying to find why this is an problem?
I'm also interested in how you got the "Mobile Data" option to show up b/c by default it is not an option at least on ATT S6, S6E models.
Cheers

It's needed because not every variant allows you to remove them using the quick settings. Why don't you just use the quick settings to enable the "Mobile Data" option? Exactly.
I see, that makes sense, I was under the impression you can change those quick settings by all variants.
The mobile data option is not available to choose. Apparently ATT has decided to remove it. I was unable to find a CSC option to turn it on. There is a way to turn off mobile data but it requires a few more clicks to get there. Not sure why they did this but I guess you can say the same for those carriers that don't allow you to remove or change the quick settings.
I found this video explain how to do it yourself with excellent and clear instruction no app or anything https://youtu.be/W_0B_xASkq4
Easy way to remove it it to change your build.prop product name to zeroltevzw since Verizon doesn't have it on their roms. Might change your LTE icon upon reboot unless you have certain lines in your csc file.
Anyway check out this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3090551

How to enable multi-window in Android 6 Marshmallow:
There is a workaround to get split view mode on your smartphones, if you have rooted your device. To activate multi-windows in your devices, here are the steps you need to follow:
- Install Marshmallow on your Android smartphone.
- Root your device
- From Google Play Store, install a file manager app with root access.
- Open the newly installed file manager app and grant it root permission.
- Go to /system/ directory and open build.prop file.
- Inside the file, change the value of build type from user to userdebug.
- Save the build.prop file.
- Reboot your device.
- Once back, enable Developer Options: go to Settings > About Phone > tap on Build Number seven times.
- Go back to Settings > Developer Options > go to the bottom of the Drawing category and enable Multi-window from the options.
- Congrats.

I also stated in the OP of the rooting thread, if you are going to modify the system anyway, just go with the traditional root method. Chainfire disabled system write while using systemless root method to maintain system partition integrity.
After using it i can definitely say Multi window is poorly implemented, not worth using. Not as easy as Samsung's implementation.

Just to let everyone know you can very easily fix this problem, as long as you have a rooted phone, here is another easier way, if you're getting the error message or Knox and cannot access Samsung health because it could say your device is compromised Etc. this is how you easily can fix it.
Download build prop editor, open app, Grant it root access, once granted scroll down the list until you see
"ro.config.tima" , beside this you will see a number 1, edit the number 1 to 0 and save changes and reboot phone.

You have to reroot your phone and fix with build prop.
Once you trip Knox there's no getting it back. But with root at least you can edit values so apps will work again.

I would always recommend reading the OP before commenting on any thread, otherwise you're really just commenting blind.
for your security, samsung health can't be opened on a rooted phone. (0x110010null5h3130 )
can you help me please ?
I have unrooted phone, S7 Duos, how to solve this problem in it?
Does this work with Exynos S9+? This is the only thing holding me back from rooting.

I've posted this as an afterthought in some of my other threads, but have come to realize that this easy little fix might just be crucial enough for some to warrant having its own thread. So anyway, here it is.
Easy fix for the Samsung Health "device has been compromised" or "can't be opened on a rooted device" errors.
1) Download an app from the Play Store called "BuildProp Editor".
2) Search for "ro.config.tima".
3) Click on it and change the "1" to a "O".
4) Reboot device.
Please be sure to hit the "Thanks" or Donate button below if this helped you out!

Should it needed to to be rooted when we use the bulid it prop?

Yes but if you're not rooted you shouldn't have the problem in the first place. It is when the phone is rooted, that many people have the problem with Samsung Health.
