OEM UNLOCK//NO Root affects android pay and fingerprint? - Nexus 6P Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Does android pay and fingerprint work if you have just the bootloader unlocked and nothing else modified? Anyone tested just this?

Yes. Both work fine. I'm Unlocked now and nothing has changed in regards to those features.

Bootloader Unlock & Fingerprint

I haven't received mine yet, but probably one of the first things to do is unlock the bootloader.
Can someone please confirm if the fingerprint verification/unlock still works with an unlocked bootloader.
If anyone can chime in on Android Pay functionality, that would be great too!
Thanks!
Confirmed bootloader works; does anyone have anything on imprint and root?
Have a look at this thread: Covers it pretty well.

H918 Carrier Unlocked - Factory reset - Keep Unlock

Just got my H918 T-Mobile Unlocked from an Ebay Seller. The good news is that it is on 10k, so I can downgrade and enjoy the twrp and root awesomeness! Just one thing: Will I lose the carrier unlock after I factory reset or flash another rom? (Sim unlock works as it should and I did not have to do anything with the T-Mobile Device Unlock app, which was preinstalled)

don't think you will but I would still check around first
I have checked around. Probably will not lose the unlock. Maybe someone else has been in the same situation. I have to make sure.
Not sure if I'm answering your question right but t mobile has the obligation to unlock fully paid off phones. So if the device is fully paid off and something happens you can call t mobile again to unlock it.
Update: Unlocked bootloader, installed custom rom, never lost sim unlock.

Hi, I also have a locked H918, can you suggest the ebay seller so that I am able to use the phone
No you will not lose your unlock. Once unlocked it's for good.

Unable to unlock

I got a g8141 and had used for a mounth. Recently I want to unlock my xzp to develop custom rom, but after turning on OEM unlock, the "Bootloader unlock allow" is still "NO".
What's the problem?

Sell it and buy one thats factory unlocked. Thats most likely your only solution. If your lucky see if Sony will replace it for one that is. They will probably charge you something to do so though.
Maybe you bought carried locked device?

I'm afraid so.
I find it hard to believe that there is n o way of unlocking these unless there is some fuse that's been blown.
Has anyone actually looked in to this or is this a case of everyone assuming they know it cant be done because that's what it says?
for instance, has anyone tried flashing a generic ROM over their OEM ROM?
If we could understand why it doesn't work then perhaps we can find a way of getting around it. As I said, unless there is fuse that's been blown in which case, no chance.
Its been the same way since the original Xperia Z phones. It has nothing to do with the software on the phone, its on the hardware level as far as i know.
I had a Z2 that was bought on contract with Bell (in Canada). My phone stated "bootloader unlock allowed: no" and there has never been a way since to change that option to allow: yes (at least by anyone trying on XDA). Flashing custom ROMs, OEM ROMs, nothing matters or changes the setting.
I have a friend that had the same phone bought from Sony directly and his has always said "bootloader unlock allowed: yes"
Unless I've missed something in the last 4 years, no one has ever been able to change that setting.

Is any work being done to unlock of the American Snapdragon (SM-G955U) Variant?

Is any work being done to try to unlock the bootloader of the SM-G955U model? Just got the phone so I'm out of the loop and was wondering what the hold up is. Bought a simple mobile version and put my T-Mbile sim in it. Works great so it is definitely carrier unlocked, but the bootloader is locked which means I cannot install a custom recovery. Not very happy with Touchwiz...

As far as I no one's doing anything on that side of stuff, you can still get root and there is a custom rom out there by a user named Partcyborg, do not expect to see any aosp/lineageos roms out, there isn't events fully working one for the exynos version

Adding to this point, the HMD app pointed out will only work for Nokia 8:

Hopefully, they will open up the program for more devices.
Nokia had blocked the unlock process last August due to a security threat: https://www.xda-developers.com/augu...nes-blocks-the-only-bootloader-unlock-method/
There's already another thread on this forum which guides you to unlock the bootloader by first downgrading back to the firmware before this August update
It's a reliable service. This is the only way to unlock bootloader currently. I can recommend this..
