Overheating in OnePlus Two? - OnePlus 2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi people, im going to buy a phone and im between LG G4 and OPT, the thing is..
Does de OPT has overheating issues?, the snap 810 it should run at 2,0ghz but its underclocked at 1,5ghz right? Does it throttle too much? i mean, it affects the performance while doing heavy stuffs for 15+minutes? such as gaming or descompressing or something like that?
My dude was, if the 810 throttle too much maybe the 808 will perform better.
Please i need your help, HONEST opinions, not just to defend our device, i just want to know whats better for me because i cant change my phone very often so i dont want to regret of my decision.
Thanks in advance!

So you're trying to choose between two nightmare phones? OnePlus customer service is practically nonexistent, and is known to have heating issues. The 808 in the G4 is even worse, it has a weak GPU mixed with two less cores. I mean the 808 overheats just using Chrome for God's sake. Why would you narrow your decision to these two? The 6P at least has great optimizations for the 810 and the aluminum is doing a great job to dissipate any heat that is present. The 5X which has the 808, can't escape it's fate. People are already talking about heating issues with that... Why not check out the Zen 2 or something else? If you can wait, skipping this years CPUs wouldn't be a bad call either, in fact a lot people have decided to do it. The 808 scores lower in many categories than 805 and 805 GPU is better, so you can always look for a year old phone with 805 for a great deal. The N6 is only $300 new for example and you'll get timely updates for at least another year. That's just one example though.

Mine OPT is running fine. I neither have any issues with heat on Stock, nor on CM12.1. Ok i am not playing on the Phone, but even when i use syncthing, which need a certain amount of CPU time i dont get over 42°C. it should be in a good range for the 810 CPU. Nevertheless i am going to underclock( or disable some cores) it in CM13, because i dont need that amount amount of power in my daily driver.

I have the A2003 running Oxygen OS 2.1.1 . To be honest, OP2 is the coolest high end device i've ever used. I sold my Galaxy S6 for this. Even in intensive games, this phone heats up but to the point that it is not uncomfortable. The temperature is the same as with most flagship devices. There really is no reason to get the LG G4 over the OP2 unless you like how the camera of G4 works but then again, the camera of the OP2 is quite superb with the Oxygen OS 2.1.1 . However, when getting the OP2, i advise you to update it ASAP, and install a 3rd party home launcher such as google now or nova, as of late, Oxygen launcher is quite slow. Also, install AK kernel with the stock oxygen to get that near flawless experience with the software.

Okay, so yesterday I received my JBL t150 earphones for my #OnePlus2 and the sound quality is incredible. But I am facing one issue. The button on the mic is not functioning properly. Like I inserted it for first time it couldn't play/pause music or take calls. I used it on other device it worked fine then again tried on mine it then started working(not on play music tho) then I sync my accnt on play music and the play pause feature started working fine(even in mx player and es media player). But after i plug it out and then plug in again the button play pause feature doesn't work. Then I try it few time, still doesn't work. Then I restart my device and use it again it worked fine but again I unplugged them and plugged in again and again the play pause feature doesn't work. Sometimes even after restart it doesn't work until after few minutes. So i think it's either compatibility issues or something with the OS? Because earphones work fine in my sis LG device. (korean model) . Guys, please help.

Thanks for the answer, I have to change it now because I'm selling my nexus 5, the zen 2 Its a good option but it doesn't has a lot of modding, the one plus two will have a lot. Anyway Im still thinking but I will probably buy the opt

Awesome

According to all benchmarks OnePlus 2 performs great just as 810 should. As far as overheating is concerned, I didn't notice anything like that on my OnePlus 2. There is a game I play sometime that causes quite significant overheating on Moto X 2014 (my previous phone), "Does not Commute". I play it on OnePlus 2 now and the phone actually heats much less even on maximum graphics quality setting.

One Plus Two is a good choice.
I have been using this phone since the last few weeks and yes it has heating issues but it never went down on the performance scale. The phone is still running as good as those first 10 minutes.

Recently updated to 3.0.0 beta. Faster than before. No heating issues.

1 week in... And I'm losing faith. Fast. - Updated.

9 Days ago, I made the decision to switch networks due to Sprint's inability to handle MMS, data, signal, calls, or anything else. I walked into a T-Mobile store, and after a brief credit check, I was told I can choose any phone I'd like. My original intent was to hang onto my Nexus 5, which I absolutely loved, but I was told I was required to get a new phone. I wasn't exactly upset knowing I'd be getting a new phone, so I walked over to the displays and struggled for over 20 minutes trying to decide which phone to get. I eventually whittled my choices down to two phones. The LG G3 and the HTC One M9. After a bit of research and test driving, I chose the HTC One M9.
It is a seriously nice phone. The materials used to craft this baby are top notch, and definitely give the impression of quality. I very much like the way it looks and sounds, and even though it could be unwieldy to hold (slippery), I got around that issue by slapping a nice Spigen case on it. HTC's Uh Oh protection is a nice touch and the specifications are equally as impressive, which helped sell this phone to me. The thought of a 64-bit 8-core CPU was exciting.
It's my first flagship phone; everything should be impressive. And yet, I'm kind of not impressed. My two main complaints about this phone are the button placement (I think having the power button and volume buttons on the same side of the phone and right next to each other is kind of silly, then again, my N5 wasn't like that, so I could just be used to that layout. ) and the performance. Yes, you heard me, the performance. I don't even care about the joke of a camera this thing has, it's really the performance of the cutting-edge octacore CPU that they slapped in this thing that really frustrates me. Out of the box, this phone comes underclocked due to overheating issues. That, to me, is downright laughable. Did anyone at HTC test this phone? A flagship device whose performance is throttled from the moment you turn it on. That's like buying a Corvette straight from the dealer, starting up the car and finding out that Chevy disabled two of the cylinders in the engine to ensure it didn't overheat. It's not just the thought of this that bugs me, the performance of the phone is actually terrible at times. My Nexus 5, given it was running a 5.1.1 ROM, was butter smooth in all but the most complicated of situations. This phone, however, limited to a paltry 1.5GHz and another cluster that is slow to wake up and help out, struggles with some truly mundane tasks. For example, swiping to my Google Now Cards is laggy, loading Google Messenger is choppy and slow. Scrolling, in general, is almost never smooth. I've tried different ROMs, Kernels, and governors but can never really find a nice balance between performance and battery life. The CPU is ALWAYS up to something too. Even when the screen is off. My Nexus 5 would achieve, regularly, about 70-75% Deep Sleep throughout the course of a day. It sipped battery. This phone achieves, on a normal day, about 60-65%. Thankfully it has a larger battery than the N5, otherwise I seriously doubt it'd last as long.
Overall it's been bittersweet experience. I really like this phone, I want to love it, but I can't. I realize that this device is still in its infancy and HTC can roll out updates to hopefully iron out some of these problems. I also realize that the community for this phone is also in its infancy, and that down the road, there may be terrific alternatives to Sense 7 and the Stock Kernel. But I have 5 days left, and the idea of swapping this phone out for something better is slowly starting to grow on me. I've been toying with the idea of getting an Xperia Z3 or LG G3 instead. It'll cost me $50 to swap the M9 out for a different phone. On the other hand, my mind is telling me to be patient and that it'll work out in time with this phone. So I turn to you. Anyone else share the same frustrations with me? What do you think I should do? Should I wait or should I swap this baby out for something else?
UPDATE June 8th 2015:
I went to the T-Mobile store the day after posting this. I researched and thought long and hard about the decision I had to make. After a while I came to the conclusion that I would be paying $50 (Restocking fee) to essentially downgrade to another device. In fact, the only other flagship device that even appeals to me at this point is the LG G4, which seems to be getting along as well as the S6 and One M9 have been (from what I've read). Thanks to recommendations from others in the community, I made some changes that have greatly improved my experience with this device. I'm still not a huge fan of Sense 7 nor am I astonished by the Camera's performance, but a new launcher restored much of the stock Android feel and an upcoming firmware update promises to improve the camera. Performance while multitasking is fantastic and while there are a few hiccups here and there, I can't say my experience is any worse than what it was with my Nexus 5. The Battery life, a common complaint from others about this phone, is fantastic in my eyes. It's nice to sometimes forget about charging my phone at night, waking up the next morning and still having enough juice to get me into the afternoon.
Overall, I've only recently concluded that I did not give this device a fair chance for as long as I should've. Coming from my Nexus 5, the change was a bit of a shock. I suppose that played into my initial disappointment. I'm actually starting to fall in love with this phone. Compliments and exclamations of wonder and impact are common from others that I let check out my phone, even from die-hard iPhone fans, which is always nice. I figured that I should update this thread because I see the conversation still continues. No phone is without its flaws, my beloved N5 was hardly without its own. Many "flaws" are a matter of perspective. I'm confident I've made the right choice with this device, and I look forward to the bright future that lies in store for it (please God, give me an AOSP ROM).
ps. The 1.5 clock only applies to the A53 cores. I'm sure people more technically inclined and chime in and confirm this.
I've had nothing but smooth operation on this phone. I am on Leedroid at the moment, but was on international stock rom before and was just as smooth.
I'd be looking as to why you are experiencing the performance issues, and if you're not happy, I'm sure the consumer protection laws in the US allow you to return it for something else?
Best of luck
You are in the 14 day window go an return it
Go get your nexus 5 back or talk to someone who isn't trying to hose you into buying a new phone.

Granted I don't know if the specs on your phone didn't match up to what was described in this link, Or if you had it leased.

Yeah, I've noticed the lag when swiping to the goole now screen. I'm confident that performance will be better when they give us 5.1, which by then they'll have figured out how to best optimize S810. Best to test out your options, you might even want to consider the M8 which has GPE 5.1 ROMS ready for it. That phone performs and has excellent battery life.

Yeah I have (doesn't it only fix that off screen animation bug?). The lag when scrolling to the google now screen affects my M8 as well if I recall correctly.

I thought it reduced the over all RAM usage from the system over a prolonged period of time. I thought that might affect lag overall on the phone, but I could be mistaken. I haven't experienced any lag on my device yet so I was just throwing out ideas.
Have you tried rooting and putting leedroid on it. It's a beast. No lag. No stutter. Smooth
I never experienced any lags except when gaming during charging the battery with a speed charger.

Same, lag isn't a problem except for when using google now launcher and swiping to the left for the google now screen. It's minor, but annoying nonetheless. For the OP who was used to the Nexus 5's smoothness it's probably extremely noticeable.

True, I actually got rid of google now because it was annoying me every time my phone slipped out of my hand and started it. I still am hopeful knowing the m9 should get multiple updates in the future and run 5.1.

still you are brute forcing the M9 into throttling its GPU this way and about the best thing on the M9 is actually gaming speed thanks to it's very powerful GPU
Coming from a M8, at first i was a little frustrated for the overheating and the camera of the M9. But then, neither the m7 or m8 were great cameras.
I read a lot of reviews and even started thinking of selling the M9 but swap for what? S6 ? God no, please, no more touchwiz. Lg,i had the lg3 and it was L(a)G and slow, much slower than the M8 (i know, different screen's resolution). So, in the end, i prefer keep the M9, the camera improve a lot with the update, and many more updates will come.
Then, there is sense 7, sense is one of my favourites android skins. Light, smart and very, very fast. I absolutely have no lag in M9 (all stock). And i use a lot blinkfeed, i missed it in any non Htc phone. And there is the boomsound, the touch to awake screen...
When you say you have lag with Google Now cards, I'm assuming you are using the Google Launcher. I have noticed some lag here and there with the Google launcher, but the stock Sense launcher performs admirably. It's quick and never seems to drop frames when gaming either. How did you leave the phone stock before you started flashing different ROMs to it? I think that may actually be the issue. Every review of the M9 has stated that the phone is smooth and HTC's software is better than ever. Messing with the software may be what's causing the poor experience.

I occassionally play a round of Boom Beach, Clash of Clans or Limbo while the phone is on the charger. Can you elaborate a bit on how this could "kill the battery"? Is it related to charging while the GPU is cranking up the thermals?

I'm using the stock Sense launcher and my phone is buttery smooth. While I don't use the Google Now Launcher, Google Now performs great on this phone.
All of the games that I play are also super smooth. Granted, I don't play games that demand a high frame rate, but those games that I do play are far smoother on this phone than my old M7.
The one issue I had with the phone was what seemed like spotty issues with wifi. I did a cache partition wipe yesterday and it seems to have helped the issue.

Looking to buy HAM7

Hi guys,
Looking to buy HAM7...why in your opinions are major good and bad points?
I've read the reviews but you know there are always kinks here and there that don show up on reviews?
My biggest concern is: Battery life and snappy flow of OS without stutter, each stutter makes.my heart skip a beat...wht is your feedback on it?
I'm coming from zenfone6, I liked it but lost it.
There aren't any other 6 inch phones, nexus 6 is bit expensive and ive heard bad stuff about its battery.
Thanks for your feedback
Oh and also browisng, how is that?
My main tasks are browing, social media, mail checks and gaming such as summoners war, clash of clans etc
I'm probably going to change default launcher, I'm not a fan of emui 3 that much.
In short:
Pro: the hardware parts are good.
Con: the software updates are literally quite .. hmmm... confusing.
While I myself use ascend, i'd like to be objective. maybe you want to look also at mi note or note pro ?

My opinions MT7 is perfect for gaming, media or entertain...I just love my mt7,super fast, not any hanging point while playing game if u get ph call like Samsung. Large batt keep u alive for 2 days with multimedia usage, only gaming time batt take more power...the bad thing only I found that it's Android upgrades...Huawei is one of donkey brand which always fail to keep promise for new upgrades...one thing I noticed mt7 touch screen more improve and smooth to use...

Hahaha.. exactly. The upgrade part is the real sore point. With so many variations and strict regional validations before you can upgrade. Other than that, this phone is truly a gem
Yes the phone is awesome. It's got an awesome built in battery monitoring app, backup app as good as titanium and its fluid. If you want more power you could set it to a "high performance mode". Battery is superb. What sucks is yeah the updates and the dual sim/micro sd. Btw get the gold edition with 3gb of ram
Just bought one, screen of my LG g3 broken. It beats g3 on every point; great battery life (actually my first handheld that goes - much more- than a day with a charge, much faster than g3, browsing gaming is much better.
And as for updates; I really don't miss the lollipop of the g3 at all.
As prices are quite affordable now, I should say, go and get it!
Does the phone overheat or something?
I know my zenfone 6 would heat too much when playing summoners war.
No heat issue at blitz gaming. browsing or kodi movie watching via WIFI - 32gb iso is smooth and cold.
Playing a lot (right now Halflife port), and NEVER experienced any heating issue (well with LG g3 before!) - and, no noticeable battery drain (because of the huge battery, of course).
All together, also a great game handheld - Much smoother than G3 was.
Thanks guys, bought it

Help me decide ..!

Hi guys, so i heard a lot about the one plus one last year and din't buy it because i know that one plus two will be much better .! but i see some people saying that
1. There device is getting overheated real quick with just a 30 mins of gaming ( which is a deal breaker for me cause i do a lot of gaming )
2. They say that the cpu is underclocked at 1.8ghz to reduce the heating issue but is it still heating at that clock speed ?
3. Wile its throttling they say that they are facing a huge lag in gaming and even in normal usage ( is that true? )
4. Ok lets keep Gaming a side is the phone getting heated wile normal to heavy usage ? which mean just browsing continuously and other stuff for a 2hrs or soo..! except gaming
5. And i heard some people saying their fingerprint scanner stopped working, i heard a lot of issues with this phone are they really true according to your personal usage ?
BTW is the speaker loud enough to be heard in a noisy street ..! and is the in call voice quality is good enough to be heard in traffic
Hope you people will help me :good:
I haven't had any issues since I switched to hydrogen OS. Phone runs cool during normal tasks and only seems to get warm during gaming but I have not experienced any lag or fingerprint issues

It was less smooth. Games and heating were not an issue but everything seemed to kind of lag from time to time. On H2OS all of those issues are corrected and I've never had a smoother experience. It's not stock but if you flash it root it and clean up the Chinese bloat and use trebuchet launcher or Google launcher it feels somewhat stock. O2OS isn't terrible but its not as polished as H2OS in my opinion

Don't buy this phone. You are better of with the motorola pure or style. This phone laggs, mediocre battery and very poor camera. All this on the stock version of this phone oxygenos. Don't try other stock android roms because you will lose most features, fingerscanner and laserfocus etc etc.. Even the notification slider has little to no use for me. You better think twice before buying this device. This is nothing like the oneplus one.

Does It lag .......!!! but why the hell it lags i don't understand i saw many people like you saying this .! it got such a good specs and its lags may be one plus should do something for this
I really like my Oneplus 2, but if I had the choice/money would definitely go for the Nexus 6P.
IMO, the Oneplus 2 is a good phone, feels really well built, and my experience of OxygenOS certainly hasn't been as bad as some people's. The camera is pretty good; not amazing, but it's the best phone camera I've had so far, having never owned a 'proper' flagship (not just a so-called 'flagship killer')
My main reason for choosing the Nexus would be the updates. You'll always get the latest version of Android, and the software updates will be reliable. Oneplus don't seem in any rush to release OxygenOS 2 for the Oneplus One, and I wonder if that will be the case for the Two when the next generation is out. I'm hoping CM start officially supporting the Two, as I'd ditch Oxygen in a flash, if you'll excuse the pun.
But yeah, it's definitely good value.

Pay no attention to the trolls. This is a great device. Have had mine about a month. On oxygen and latest Boeffla kernel. Never had the phone feel hot to the touch or noticed any lag whatsoever. Camera is great. Battery easily lasts the whole day with my usage. Usually at least 4-5 hours sot. Just pull the trigger you won't regret it

In my opinion if you want NFC and good software support ,spend more and get a Nexus. If not, you can save your money and get a Oneplus two.

Personally I had lag on oxygen OS but with hydrogen OS it is the smoothest device I've had. Camera is above average to good. But some people don't seem to have any lag. It's worth the money.
Thnak you for all of you finally i decided to buy one ..!
AK kernel seems to do something about the lagg, so it's mostly software bugs. Anyways the sony sensor on the OP2 is really not that good. So much noise.. I really can't stand it.
The OP2 is a good, solid phone.... But, it's not the "Flagship killer" I was hoping for.
>>I'm not a gamer, so I haven't noticed it getting overly hot (like my M9 did) with normal use (same processor).
>>I haven't experienced any lag watching videos, listening to music while running any other apps...It's very snappy.
>>I don't have any issues with the fingerprint scanner/home button. I had the Galaxy S6 for a short time before the OP2.... They seem about the same as far as how many times they actually read my fingerprint vs not. Like any phone, after a few days, using the home button becomes 2nd nature. I do have trouble with my left hand (usually use my right) and when it's charging , the home button can be a little less sensitive (grounding issue while charging??).
>>The speaker is not as loud as the past few phones I've had, but that doesn't mean it's too quiet. Just make sure "Audio Tuner" is enabled, this helps push the volume up and makes the speaker sound much better (has an EQ).
>>The OS is still pretty buggy.. I have to restart more than with my other phones in the past. But it's usually minor things, but sometimes I have to boot into "safe mode" to get certain functions to work again (like the clear all recent apps). After doing this, you have to set a few apps up again and some of the default notifications pop back up.
I think as the months go by, the OS will become more stable and these won't be issues any more.
I've got a Nexus 6P on order and will be selling my OP2 as soon as it gets here. I just like the front speakers better, plus there will be better development on the Nexus device. It already has a couple 100% functioning ROMs and has only been out about a week. I suspect in a month, there will be quite a few to choose from.
.....But, for what you pay for the OP2, it's well worth it and is better than most other phones on the market now that cost twice as much. So it is a good buy IMO.
Just my input and $.02 worth
That's a nice outcome... Although this is the OPT forum almost anybody chooses the nexus 6p. That's why I like xda over other forums, no fanboys but honest opinions. (Mostly)
I would definitely buy a 6p if I didn't own a OPT already...:-/

Okay, now I've totally had it with LG and this phone... here's why. [found solution]

Hi XDa'ers...
I'm sorry to say I've just had it with this phone. The awesome camera was the main reason I switched my Galaxy S4 to this. The promise of wireless charging was awesome. The sd card of course made it the only current flagship worth considering. The promotion of an extra leather back + battery just sweetened the deal.
But then...
1st G4 - Camera had a distinct pink tone. The wireless charging was iffy at first, and then completely broke down. Exchanged for a new one.
2nd G4 - Wireless charging was iffy. I attempted to downgrade the bootstack and it bricked (first one on XDA to report this fun fact which I warned everyone else about)--okay, this one's on me.
3rd G4 - Refurb warranty replacement had a broken camera which could not focus past 2 feet. Sheesh.
4th G4 - Out of the blue, wifi is suffering from a ridiculous on/off cycle which is likely hardware failure related. The phone is 2 months old! My problem specifically is that it turns on and does find wifi signals, but then turns off. Then turns on again. Repeat.
It's similar to these threads, but not exactly, as the wifi does turn on, it just keeps turning itself off.

I think it's been well established that the wireless charging on this phone is poorly implemented and a hardware issue. Fine, I can do without it. But to have the wifi crap out for no reason is really the last straw.
Looking to see what phone to switch out to. I'm on T-Mobile Jump on Demand, so the Android options are really only just the S6 or V10. I've yet to investigate the V10 forums--who knows what kind of crap engineering issues LG will have in store for us as the months roll on.
I had g4 and sold it to get the note 5, best decision ever. G4 camera was the main reason i took the phone but, the poor gaming performance the weak cpu didnt answer my demands and i hated the random lags.
Same here I am selling my g4, what upset me is I mailed them about unlocking bootloader, they replied me with this....
I am checking on blackberry priv

Curious to know whether your G4 variant includes wireless charging in the back itself ootb ?
In other markets you have to use the circle case or get a sticker and connect back the two pins.
In dual sim markets there are no two pins so there is no option for wireless charging at all
Not so bothered when stock charger can take this thing from 30% to full within a hour.

A few reports here and there, for some reason sprint seems to be having the most issues. Its weird.

Which wireless charger did you use ? how well did it work with previous models with wireless charging.
LG has a good rep for wireless charging if you consider the Nexus 5. The nexus 6 made by motorola, heh, now that is more fussy. Get the impression that bigger devices are more finicky compared to smaller ones. Also flatter backs are better than curved ones. As screens get bigger those curves becomes important to make the thing feel smaller than it actually is.
Dang OP, you had some really bad luck with your g4's. Mines only actes retarded sometime when i try charging, and it thinks my charger is a usb.
Oh dear samsung...This money transaction too transparence
Ok end of joke.Wifi drop horror. My g4 same...

I too got the Note 5 switching from the G4. The lag drove me up the wall. Glad that I made the switch, note 5 has more functionality, and TouchWiz has been toned wayyyy down since the Galaxy s4, the last Samsung device I had. I would go note 5 or nexus 6p.

While not suited for everyone, Note 5 is the best phone of this year and will hold very well for next years.
Do yourself a favor, root the device and install Arter97 kernel, it fixes the sammy aggressive ram management, and enjoy the Note!

That's what i thought about the note 4 nd was surprised to come across a few that switched to the G4.
Sammy's pissed off the Euro's though. They only get to see note 5 in jan.

How's the battery on the note 5. sot ? run time ? mention your brightness in %.
mention how was it with stock. And then with this kernel.
Depends on your uses and what running in background.
I can get through the day easily with 30%+- remain from 7am to 8pm, 50-75% brightness, what i do is location always on, wifi+data, google sync, messages, chrome, facebook, what's up etc.
Now i also do heavy gaming since this is the only phone that cna do it right, i measured something intersting.
While forcing the phone to run at maximum speed on all 8 cores and GPU, and playing intensive game like Tekken 6 on 50-60% brightness, it will deplete to 0 after 3:30-3:40hr straight gaming at maximum frequency... which is amazing, the G4 barely held 2hr.
you won't be disappointed, specially if u come from G4.

yes G4 is bad for gamers, what drove me insane is that angry birds 2 lagged on it, and it has weak cpu that can't run tekken 6 and dark resurrection at 60fps, note 5 can do it, that is amazing of itself.
G4 had random lags at times, Note 5 does not have any of those, rarely it has unlock screen freeze, when u unlock the screen it freezes for 5 second and then do all your taps... should be resolved in new update(already resolved for some).
Note 5 overall is the best phone i ever used, screen sound quality touchwiz... all better than g4 and v10.

How will note 5 fare against the SD 820 ?
Qualcom got a bloody nose this year, they are likely to come out swinging next year. Lots of building up going on, 80k antutu bla bla.
we will see is what i say. Note 5's cpu is a 14nm i think. so qualcom is playing catch up.

Since you have both devices, do you have a ac wifi router ?
do you notice any difference in stated link speed between the two.

1)Note 5 will fare very well against SD820, i expect SD820 multi-test score will either slightly higher than 7420 or slightly lower, the GPU will probably be 30-40% better if it won't throttle, but who knows? i have yet seen any game that bring Note 5 to it's knees, Exynos 7420 is seriously best chip Sammy ever made, and best cheap of last generation(till 8890 at least).
2)I had G4 from June 2 till 18 Aug, i didn't really measure the speed of the upload and download of both phones , but since i know my wifi speed, the G4 would miss sometimes and stopped downloading in the middle, or download very slow despite the connection was perfect, but it was inconsistent. some days it will be good, some other won't.
Note 5 has yet to do it to me, mobile data and wifi link are great.
And btw, gonna drain my battery a bit more now and send you the picture of the SOT and battery usage, the only thing that G4 does slightly better than note 5, is taking picture in low light.

How is the rom scene with exynos ?
yes you have an unlocked bootloader but how does rom development fare when exynos sources are not completely released.
The result seems to be the same with the Lg's use qualcom but lock the bootloader. I've not figured out why the rest of the world got locked out except europe. Its like they use europe as a test case and when they have other products for sale, quietly unlock the rest. I don't beleive the current situation will endure, when the door is already slightly open.

What i'm thinking is the wifi chip sammy's have been using since the S5 last year is twice as fast. Not found any one to verify that though. There have been reports of sketchy wifi on the G4, maybe some tweaking required.

Is This Phone Still Worth the Buy?

I'm still interested in this phone, but I can't find a whole lot of information on it after early fall.
Anyone that have one still recommend it?
Any major issues to look out for if I purchased one now?
Not interested in rooting or modding. Really like it for the specs and price.
Thanks!
Well, I for one regret buying it. I think OPO was much better phone. My OP2 is slow and often crashes and couple days ago my clock alarm didn't work which why I overslept. Often have to do hard boot to get it work again.
I don't know is it hardware issue, haven't tried rooting and flashing other ROMs yet, but many people has reported the phone being slow.
It is a bit slow using original os, unfortunately. This will probably be alleviated a bit by Marshmallow when it is released. It's unfortunate that this phone isn't just using ordinary cyanogenmod, since using the current builds of cm13 makes this phone really snappy but with a few bugs and missing features as of now.

I'm currently running my OP+2 with OOS 2.2.0 and Boeffla Kernel. Runs like a charm. Pretty good Battery life (keeps me through the day with 6 - 7 hours SOT), has an amazing camera, fingerprint works pretty good too. Overall performance is great for me. I don't think you can get a Better device for this price.
Most of the problems everyone is talking about are resulting from wrong usage. Main problems i recognized through the Forums are Facebook+its Messenger, bull**** like Greenify and stuff and wrong expectations about a handheld device that isnt build to be a gaming console (with the right Kernel and Settings it can be ).
But if you are not sure about it and dont want to root and tinker around with the device better wait for another device. Here in Germany you can get a Galaxy S6 for the same price when its on sale somewhere. Maybe such a mainstream device is better for you then.
Hope i could help.
yes.
I think OPO is better now because of the official Cyanogen it have , I have experimented a lot of custom ROM's nowdays , for me H2O is better than OOS , but it's for China and it's customers .. Every H2O OS I installed had the same problem with notifications , for example Whatsapp and Facebook messenger notification came in few minutes after the message was sent to me, or they appeared just after I used the applications .. So I don't recommend H2O os at moment , I hope for a major update of OxigenOS , or that the official Cyanogenmod will come soon , after a better ROM this phone will be stunning, better than OPO :good:
I originally wanted to buy the OPO, but it was out of stock so I got the 2 instead.
I love it, it is a huge step up from my Moto G 2014. Love OxygenOS with the Boeffla Kernel only about 5 hours SOT.
I thought the fingerprint reader was going to be gimmicky, almost 99% accurate. Could not fault the phone atm.
In love with the design, get a nice Dbrand.
I think no. If I could by an other phone today, I would go to a LG G4 or a Nexus 6P. Damn, look at OnePlus Company, no sources, Fingerprint / Laser Autofocus drivers no released yet. I really don't understand OnePlus orientation regarding the open source side of Android. I know they will (I REALLY HOPE) release their sources for CM13, but for now, all I see is that we have a ""semi"" CM13 (But don't say what I've don't said, @regalstreak and all others developers have maid a wonderful job). Furthermore, I asked Carl Pei on his twitter why sources are not release yet, well.... no answer. Very nice for an opened company Anyway. Mate, if you still have the choice, go for an other phone.
Even my old LG G2 already has Android 6.0.1.
Still really pleased with mine after 4 months. For the money I don't think you can do much better, personally.
If you're talking about community support I afraid not. But talking about stock rom, I'm satisfied with custom kernel installed, generally smooth experience relying on it's powerful hardware at least. But of course there are quite a number of competitive phones on similar price range like 5x g4 or stylex.
So it depends on your need. I personally take a lot of snapshot(photo I mean) g4 might be better but I'm still pleased with opt.
I have one and I love it, the only real problem I have is with oxygenos, it's pretty buggy and a bit slow. That hopefully will be fixed with software updates. The fingerprint scanner/home button is very responsive and everything works well for me.
In my opinion it is worth it, I would totally recommend it.

In France, LG G4 dropped at 350 Euros, (~381$), and for me, the G4 is far away compared to the OnePlus Two:
-SDCard slot,
-Camera,
-Great specs,
-Great community support... (CM13, fast update from LG)
Yes, the OnePlus Two is a great phone, but not the flasgship killer claimed by OnePlus. But at the end, user is the one who chooses, so.... just my personal opinion!
Oh yeah, @Chopzzay makes me think about it: fingerprint is one of the most funny thing on this phone, it works for randomly: sometimes every time, some times, I have to do it two or three times before it works. Very disappointed about it.
For me I would say it's pretty much the only flagship dual sim card phone, there really was no other choice since I don't want to be dragging two phones with me all the time to be reached both on my private and business number.
But as a single sim user, it's a completely different situation I recon.

Of course g4 will be better only if you only name the pros.
Screen resolution is debatable, less battery, less performance and working on adreno 418... That's a choice, not a pro, personally i love that Oneplus 2 has a FullHD display and not a QHD, i could bought LG G4, Moto x pure, or whatever 500uds or less. I decided Oneplus 2 and im very happy with my decisión. Thanks god i didnt belive the overheating rumors, they are exagerated, my nexus 5 got hotter.
*was between the same devices. My decisión was LG G4 or Oneplus 2. Moto X it was my third choice.
I choose the op2 because of this:
-Full HD screen : more battery and less GPU demanding
-SoC: 810 vs 808. That means ram lpddr4 vs lpddr3, adreno 418 (qHD) vs adreno 430 (FHD).
About heating, because of the rumors oneplus throttle the devices too fast, if you edited the thermal file with boeffla kernel you could have awesome performance, for more info about throttle pm me.
-Fingerprint scanner. Works perfect, if you know how to scan. You have to scan your finger in every side of it, so it will work perfectly.
-XDA community, not too much for no but it will grow up. Oneplus is contacting devs from XDA, that must be a good thing. Op2 will grow a lot when official marshmallow get released.
-Capacitive buttons, so it does not take space from the screen
-Alert slider is useful, but lg g4 volume buttons are very nice too.
-4gb vs 3gb, its not a real life difference but maybe it will be.
EDIT:- Better battery life. 3300mah vs 3000mah, also fhd vs qhd must make a difference.
About nfc, for almost 2 years i never used it on my nexus 5, so its not a problem for me.*
Hope you can decide for the best, come with us*[emoji6]

I own a OPT and can't recommend it. It's the worst phone (beside the a Nokia Lumia 520) I've ever used in the last few years.
The hardware is good, the specs are looking great but the software is really crap. and the speaker volume is really really low so I can't hear any calls or messages.
