Now on Tap won't enable? - Nexus 6P Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys,
I got my Nexus 6P in australia yesterday and I was playing around with the settings. One of the things I wanted to enable was Now on Tap but everytime I try and enable it (either through holding the home button, or doing it through Settings), it won't enable! When I click Get Started, nothing happens. If i'm in the settings app, the toggle just turns off after I press Get Started. Does anyone know how to fix this so it works?
I'm on a custom google domain if that matters.
Thanks,
Snowled.

Hi,
I am having the same issue. Now on tap is available in Germany since this week. Did you get this fixed somehow or does it simply mean that it is not activated for me yet?
Thanks,
Vogli

Back to home-screen when turning on the screen!

ive been very happy with my Touch Dual, but there is one thing that bugs me loads! If im running a program, and i turn of the screen (press the power button), when i turn it back on, im taken back to the home screen. This is really annoying! I was testing pointUi, which proved pointless, as whenever I turned on the screen again, i was taken back to the standard HTC Home Screen.
Is there a setting or something for this ive missed?
Cheers!
sorry i dont really know much but you can just go on to the running programs list and open it quite quickly
i assume you just wanted it for coming straight on to the program but im not sure
in settings->today->items
there is a checkbox named
Today timeout with a dropdownbox which set
the timeout time
you could try to uncheck the checkbox and see
if it still does it
another thing that results in the same effect:
the device lock unter settings.
if its activated (doesn't matter what time is set), waking up the device brings yout to home.

i kind of have the same problem. but this brings me to another question. what does that checkbox do? minimum one hour timeout?!
anyway. i am using a kaiser, and when the device goes out of "standby" (pressing the powerbutton) im brought back to the today-screen.
but as of the previos post. this does not happen when the device locks after 5 minutes and i type in my simple pin. if the device locks i am brought back where i left it... (i.e. gsplayer)
well one would asume that unchecking the checkbox would disable the return to today screen
and the dropdownbox beside it's content would only be enabled if the checkbox was checked

locking on vanilla android 2.1

hi,
i have the following problem.
If you lock your phone via hang up key you can simply activate it via home button (press twice).
I desperatly look for a possibility to deactivate this behavior, cause i already phoned like 1 hour accidentially with this "bug".
Any help appreciated!
I think setting up lock pattern will help. Even if the phone wakes up it won't be able to make calls or other unwanted stuff.
i have the standard unlocking slider, which is really fine.
the problem is that you can go around it with the home button.
so i think using a patting will not help
i have to disable the home button while the screen is off or something.

You can't "go around" the lock pattern with home button. So the device still can wake up in your pocket but can't make a phone call
I think this is the only real workaround for this problem (apart from building your own kernel with altered button mapping)

HTC MAgic screen will not lock

Hi All, I needs some help!
I have a Vodafone HTC Magic, all working fine until this morning when it has decided that it does not want to lock the screen.
I have it all set to require a pattern to unlock but this morning I have come to use it and noticed it didn't ask for the pattern.
I checked the settings and they were not set to require a pattern, no idea what changed it? Anyway I set them again but despite this everytime I lock the phone now (basically just by pressing the end call button) any button will bring it back to life and it is not asking for the pattern so everytime it's in my pocket and a button gets pressed the phone comes on!
I haven't installed any new apps and have tried turning it off and taking out the battery but the screen locking just wont work.
EDIT: Also noticed that the home button doesn't do anything now either!
Any ideas?
Thanks
Replying to myself but thought I'd let anyone who was interested know that I sorted it. Not altogether happy though because it required a full factory reset!
Is my phone running Android or Windows??????

[Q] Voice control starts up random at any time

Hey people
Ever since I opdated my sgs2 through Kies. The "car-mode" or Voicecontrol starts up random. Even without me touching the phone. And I cant deactivate it, because when I do that. It starts again automatically. Have tried to turn off the phone and pretty much everything, except reset.
Can anyone help?
There's a bunch of items that are set to enabled in the Voice Talk settings. Try disabling them. Also, remember there's a secondary menu off of the main settings menu. Make sure everything in there is disabled too. VT does activate if you double tap the home button or tap the phone twice if motion control's enabled. Make sure the latter's off too.

Note 3 Screen does not dim while on Call Please help!

Hey guys
I am just wondering about a problem I have found.
After the OTA update to MJ4
I found that my Canada Telus Note 3's screen does not dim (go black) when I bring my head close to talk on the phone.
It used to go black and when I move away it would turn on again.
For some reason it does not do this anymore.
Anyone have any suggestions?
Have you check under the "call settings", there is an option, "turn off screen during calls", already clicked?

Hey
Thanks for replying.
Unfortunately, It is already clicked. I checked this already.
Problem is as soon as I answer a Call OR make a call out the screen turns off automatically. I have to click the home button or power button to get the screen back on and to hit END Call.
Strange, cuz on MJ1 I never had any problems with any features on the phone. (no heat at all when playing HD youtube over LTE, Fruit ninja) and Samsung features working as they should. These OTA updates seem to just mess things up (I already did a factory reset).
I am about to give up and live with it. I will root/flash ROM's from now on. problem is there is no ROM's based on Canadian Firmwares yet. I will need to be patient.
Thanks anyways for your suggestion.
If anything else, please let me know!
