Hello there,
Hoping you can help, my stock UK galaxy s4 I9505 on jelly bean suddenly crashed today and it won't load up.
I can get it to go in download mode (power button + volume key) but can't access either recovery or safe mode - it booted into safe mode once then just crashed out again.
The phone now gets stuck on the initial samsung galaxy s4 loading screen and then either hangs or just reboots. Sometimes the screen flickers / goes green.
I have left it with the battery out for 30+ mins / charged up battery / tried it plugged in / taken out the SD card - no joys getting it loaded.
Is there any way of recovering data held on the phone? I have some photos on there that I would like to get it at all possible.
Lesson learned for the future - keep all photos on the SD card!!!
Fingers crossed someone can point me in the right direction.
Chris
If you can access download mode, your phone isn't bricked. Install a stock ROM through Odin, as Odin doesn't wipe user data when a ROM is installed. If you want to play it safe however, install TWRP first and make a nandroid backup onto your MicroSD card. Then install the stock ROM.

hi guys
running cognition v1.1, this morning i had configured my work's exchange email and the phone decided to freeze no matter what i tried, it wouldn't even shut down, so i took the battery out and put it back in, since then the phone won't boot, it is stuck on the black GALAXY S II screen and won't go further... i have tried taking the battery on and off a few times that didn't help either.
1 weird thing is that the second i put the battery back it starts itself automatically without me even pressing the power button, isn't that weird?
not even able to go into recovery mode...
please help, i have had the phone for less than week.
Try to get into recovery mode... You need to reflash...
did a full wipe through CWM - reinstalled rom, same thing.
can i safely update firmware using ODING to XXKG2 and go on from there?
KG2 is not a firmware i would update a broken phone to preferring KF3 stock after a full CWM format .

[Q&A] [ROM] Omega v2.1 boot loop after enable ultra low power saving mode S5 SM-G900I
Hi all,
Long time lurker, first time poster!
I need some assistance on what I can do to get my rooted Telstra (AUS) Galaxy S5 (SM-G900I) phone to get out of boot loop (or hang). Currently running Omega v2.1 and TWRP 2.8.5.0.
Problem first started when I enabled ultra low power saving mode and then rebooted my phone (using 4 way reboot menu, fast reboot) as it became non-responsive after enabling it. When the phone tried to reboot, it got to the omega logo and it now just spins around and around. I've left it for a good 10 minutes or so but it keeps spinning. Took out battery for 30 seconds, does the same thing when booting up again.
So first step I tried was going into TWRP, made a backup of all partitions to my external SD, then wiped dalvik cache and normal cache. Tried booting into Omega after that and it does the whole "Andriod is upgrading" thing and goes through all the 300 or so apps, then it goes to the "Starting apps." and the screen goes from blue-ish to black and white (as if ultra power saving mode is on) and stays on that screen, no boot. I suspect that because that mode is on that the CPU is throttled down a lot and it's going to take forever to get anywhere. If that's not the case, something else could be wrong however you can clearly watch it go from a blue-ish box to black and white. It's been "Starting apps." for about 15 minutes now. (edit: wrote this entire thread, 30 minutes now still sitting on "starting apps") (Edit2: it has been 24 hours since this thread post and it is still stuck on "starting apps").
Does anyone have any ideas on what I can do to get it out of ultra low power saving mode without being able to boot into Omega? Or any ideas on how to get it to boot fully? It seems to make it quite far into the boot process but it won't fully boot. Battery has to be taken out for reboot as it just doesn't boot. I'd like to avoid a full wipe if possible but if that's the only option I guess I'll have to take it.
Any tips would be appreciated!
FIXED
Hi all,
I fixed the problem by taking a stab in the dark and flashing with the original Omega ROM (v2.1) again and NOT doing a full wipe. This wiped the SYSTEM partition reinstalled all the apps (where the problem was) and installed Omega ROM again. It booted fine and it was still on ultra low power saving mode when I landed at the home screen. Everything was 100% intact!
Just in case anyone comes into this situation: find the exact image of the ROM you have installed and flash it (NO FULL WIPE) again and you'll clear the system partition and reinstall all the apps. Should clear up this issue if you can't get past the boot logo or have some corrupt app stopping the boot.
Hi, I have a Samsung S4 (i9500 International) on Android 5.0.1
I cannot get any logs, apologies.
Stuck in Boot loop, CAN'T even access Recovery. If there is another thread for this please kindly let me know, thanks.
I had CM12.1 on for a month (working perfectly) until my device started rebooting all the time.
I then wiped all cache and deleted all data, moved to Aurora N4/S6 Port Rom for 2 days, but same thing.
I have: Taken out the battery, sim card, memory card, drained all power, deleted apps (All together, combination of some, and separately).
I cannot boot into Recovery (TWRP) as it; reboots either on Recovery Loading screen, or while actually in Recovery.
It will sometimes completely reboot and I can use my device for different variants of time.
The battery has gotten really hot, when this started, but not a common occurrence.
Whenever the battery is inserted, and device is not charging, it will start the boot loop.
While the device is off & charging, the charging screen will flash.
What are the possible causes, AND / OR fixes?
Thanks in advance.
Could be something related to your power button.
Your power button is stuck and needs to be fixed by releasing or replacing it, happened to me once and solved by hitting the phone on the ground xD
But you can access the button if you are a handy guy.
Hi guys,
I am having problems on my S7 Edge. The phone is stuck in a black screen and I tried restarting my phone by holding Volume Down + Power + Home for over a minute with no success. The phone is stock and rooted with TWRP and has been working fine for the last couple months. I tried plugging the power cable in and the battery screens shows up and I am able to restart my phone when the power is plugged in (battery over 80%). At this point it starts but after the Samsung logo appears it crashes again. I tried running the phone in safe mode but that did not work either. I am able to boot the phone into recovery mode and tried doing a Dalvik cache wipe. I get to the screen where Android is installing apps and after all apps got optimized it showed the home screen for about two seconds before crashing again.
After some more troubleshooting I took the sim card out and the phone is now running fine but whenever I put the sim card back in it crashes again. I tried turning airplane mode on and putting the sim card in which worked but once I turned airplane mode off it crashed again. My phone is Canadian version under Bell carrier. Just wondering if it is possible for a sim card to become corrupt and crash my phone like this? Are there any other areas I should check?
If anyone has some tips on what I can try it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
Flash the latest Firmware using Odin by following this Tutorial step by step. Read everything at least once before you start the process!
Yes, it's possible for a SIM card, like anything else, to fail. Before messing with your factory software, I'd visit a carrier store and see if they'll let you try a different SIM.
Dealing with a Samsung Galaxy S4 that will not get past the Samsung "Custom" bootscreen.
The ROM was stock Android KitKat. It was rooted, and Safestrap recovery was installed. The Xposed Framework was also installed. The device was working fine.
Then the power button broke, so installed Power Button to Volume Button and Shutdown & Reboot.
Then used Shutdown & Reboot to reboot. The phone rebooted to the Samsung "Custom" bootscreen, but did not progress beyond that.
Have not been able to get past the Samsung "Custom" (black) bootscreen since then. :crying:
Here's what's been done:
Tried to enter Safe Mode
Pulled the SIM card out
Pulled the battery out
Put the battery back in
Pressed (and held) the volume-down button while putting the battery in
Nothing has helped or been successful.
There was no microSD card in the device, so all the data is on it's internal storage.
At the least, I would like to get all the data off.
At best, I'd like to get the phone working again.
TIA. :highfive:
Is this an AT&T sgh-i337 phone?
Stuck at the boot logo normally means you have soft bricked it. The only way to recover is to find the correct factory firmware for you device and flash it via Odin. Make sure it the correct firmware! Flashing the wrong one is a problem.
