[Q] install other motherboard to SPH-L900 - Hardware Hacking General

Hi, Firstable sorry about my english is not pretty good but i do my best. Well, I have a Sprint Galaxy Note 2, I did the GSM Modification that is in this forum and works for me perfect in Colombia, but I dont like everytime that i install a new rom i have the same problem everytime that i install a new rom i need to put the APN configurations, also install a LK8 that works in Medellin, Colombia (If someone in Medellin, Colombia is trying to do this the LK8 Modem works i spent a lot of time trying to make this works) Also the configurations the signal is a little bit poor, In Colombia there is Operator called Virgin Mobile that is really cheaper and its really good, when i have my iPhone 4 I have signal everywhere, and im studying in a School really far away from the city and with my iPhone 4 I used to be with all circles of signal, also i had a Huawei (I dont remember which one) and Works 3G at my school, but with the GSM modification i had to change my carrier and i dont know if the adapter that i bought isnt i dont know, Good? i Bought it on AliExpress here tell if the product is good or not, But the signal is poor and the plug disconnect everytime i had to put a piece of paper with glue to make pressure to the plug trying to get the product not disconnected, so i talk with guy of my family who works on mobile repairment but i dont have enough time to talk and he said that if bought and put a Middle Cover of the Galaxy Note N7100 i will not having this problem anymore i bouth it yesterday a that will take i dont know 3 weeks to came to my house because is from China, Thats true about buying this can fix my problem? Instead i look for this product i saw in this page some products that are called MotherBoards, I know what is it, but i dont think that there is people selling it, because in Colombia is 90% impossible to get one legaly, so i look for the N7100 but i dont know if i can make that to my phone, there isnt Hardware Differences between those products? I mean differences Between N7100 and SPH-L900? also in my searching i look for the N7105 that is Note 2 LTE, So what do you recommend to me? Buy a N7100 Motherboard or a N7105? or thats is impossible?.
Well i dont have the permission to post any external Link. if you want to see those products that i mentioned in the post let me a Private Message and i will send you the links of page that i Bought, is AliExpress
Thank you very much.

Lost my Ameo!!

Hi Guys, well god only knows how but I have lost my Ameo 2 weeks back... thankfully I have the T-mobile insurance. However there are no Ameos about and so I now have a TytnII which is surprisingly good... although I miss the wonderful VGA screen .
Anyway I got to thining about my lost baby. Now T-Mobile have blocked it, and its reported as lost so I guess if anyone switches it on they will get barred from UK Networks (assuming they are still in the UK of course!) and hopeully it can be tracked by cell? What I was thinking though is that even when it's blocked are the buggers who now have it able to use it as a brilliant GPS unit still? I had TomTom and iGo 8 on it!!! Can it be tracked and caught that way maybe? It really peeves me to think that someone could use it as a GPS and get it for free instead of handing it in!!
Anyways hopefully somone will tell me the GPS wont work if it blocked, or that it will be tracked and the buggers caught!! Here's hoping... oh and if they go abroad will it still be blocked? Did UK set up international blocking or not? As I hear a lot of stolen phones end up in Asia and the Far East now!
The simplest way to catch the burglar is to wait the IMEI appearance on the network, tracing the phone position using the network info AND the SIM card subscriber's data!
Agreed - but im thinkin if its blocked and they decide its a nice gps now, they can stick it in flight mode and use it like that?
Sorry but the GPS will definately still work, as it is completely unconnected from the phone, however it wont work aswell because the software "Quick GPS" requires an active data connection to allow a quick lock ! so now they will have to wait a while everytime for the GPS to lock !
If you had installed the Free WIMP (where is my phone) software, you would be able to track your phone yourself !
T-mobile wont track by cell as they are not a law enforcement agency, and the police don't care it's just another lost mobile to them !
you can still text. i used to have a blocked ameo, i didnt steal it myself, long story.. but anyway, it could still send and recieve texts and connect to the 3g/hsdpa networks. because as far as i know, only calls check your imei
rory
He's correct: you can still use GPRS/3G/HSDPA on a blocked handset. Blocking only prevents GSM functions such as texting and phone calls.
If someone has a data only SIM card (or perhaps buys one of the Hutchinson 3G pay as you go SIMs) then they will happily be able to use your Ameo as a portable web/GPS unit, and unfortunately there is no way that anyone will be caught for this, despite what the Network or the police might tell you.
On the subject, a TyTn 2 seems like a big monetary step-down from an Ameo, could they not order you one in?
Bugger! Someones got a nice cheap web tablet then!!
I had to have a phone quick or I'd lose work so I had little choice.. plus I was due an upgrade anyway on my tarrif in 3 weeks time so I was thinkin of upgrading to the new 16GB version - but they have no idea when it will arrive!! Ooh i noticed Orange do the Shift now - but I just bought an eeePC so dont really need that now... hmmm.. what to do?
I doubt T-Mobile will release the 16gb model as the AMEO didn't shift too well and I think their bods will deem its updates insufficient to create enough market appeal.
The Shift is a shot in the dark and is VERY expensive considering that you'll be paying not much less than the SIM-FREE price for an 18 month contract AND you'll probably need a second phone most of the time. Also, owing to its HSDPA and integrated windows the likelihood of you going over your 3gb allowance and being charged by the megabyte is very high. At least on T-Mobile you'll only get a letter after 3 months of abusing - in fact I've been over my Web N Walk Plus allowance pretty much every month this year and I've not even received a telling-off letter!
I would say that waiting for the Touch Diamond, selling it and buying an x7510 which would mean about a 250 pound supplement, would be the best idea OR send your Vario 3 back and they'll offer you a reduced-rate contract instead of a handset then simply buy a Shift or an x7510 by your own means...
Sad to say, but I'm pretty sure whoever got your lost Ameo is reading this now. :C
---
Yea they probably are!
I have to say I am getting quite attached to the Vario3 apart from the screen - not sure what to do now I have the eeePC as would I use the Ameo much? Blimey what to do!

If you've got an EEE stick with that and the Vario 3 and use the Vario for your internet connection. It'll actually be better than the Shift connection-wise as (as far as I'm aware) the Shift doesn't support HSUPA, only HSDPA.
There's an extended life battery for the EEE which I'm looking to get as it should extend its life to over five hours: the Shift, with its naff battery life is nothing compared to a light, solid EEE combined with a Vario 3. Sounds like you might be best to stick with what you've got.
Currently I'm balancing an EEE, an HTC Universal an a Nokia N95. It's not exactly convergence but holistically I've got the best of all worlds!
There's a bit of an argument going on at the mo as I am one of the unlucky eee900 owners who have the 4400mAh battery! Over at the eeeuser.com forums we are trying to get evidence of crap batteries so I cant talk to Taiwan again on tuesday/wednesday...
But i think you might be right - I might stick with the vario and the eee for the time being.
WOW I cant even imagine how you feel I have also installed WIMP and it works very well for lost or stolen phones. You may want to think about it for your future WM6 phones...TJ

An even better option is spb sprite terminator. It lets you lock the phone, change password, erase your sensitive files, find out who his friends are (hopefully you can get to him via his friend), among some useful features.

[Q] Defy+ with a gophone sim

Please pardon my noobishness, I've been reading til my eyes crossed, but I can't seem to find a straight answer.
I just purchased an unlocked (UK) Defy+ because I need a durable phone and they don't seem to offer many options here in the US. I don't use many minutes and I just wanted text and phone coverage without a data plan: I have wifi coverage much of the time and can live without internet when I don't have it. Therefore, I snagged a cheap gophone ($20 got me a sim, a backup phone, and an extra charger) planning to run the sim in the Defy.
The problem is that while the gophone works fine, when I put the sim in the defy it tells me I have an invalid sim. The phone is supposed to be unlocked and it doesn't ask me for an unlock pin.
One possibility that I haven't tried yet - I have bypassed the motoblur setup so far, since my reading has had nothing good to say about it, and I don't use facebook, twitter or really any major social media (and if I did, I wouldn't want motorolla messing with it anyway). Could this be my problem? I didn't plan to root the phone (at least not yet...) since I didn't think I needed this level of access. I wanted to simply skip the motoblur service in the first place. I did run across some references on google of other motorolla phones having these symptoms because of not setting up motoblur. Should I just bite the bullet and set it up, or maybe root the phone and get rid of it? How intrusive is the motorblur service?
I don't think it matters. Try a friends phone with that sim?
Verstuurd van mijn MB525 met Tapatalk
The sim works fine in the cheap gophone I got when I set it up. I can't imagine it being any different anywhere else. I tried plugging in an ancient cingular sim I still had floating about for some reason which gave me a different message - no service instead of invalid sim card.
Further reading, could this be a baseband version issue? They never intended the defy+ for the US market. I knew from the start that web access would not function except by wifi, but I was given to understand that I could make phonecalls. Not much of a phone without that...
I think maybe I'm on the right track with the baseband issue. I need to be running at 850/1900mhz which the phone will do according to the box... UK is 900/2100, correct? Is it possible that baseband ver. epu93_U_00.60.00 doesn't support my frequencies?
Thanks to everyone responsible for all the info on this forum. I'm overwhelmed at this point, but hopefully it will become more clear with time. I need to walk away from this for the night. Hopefully, tomorrow some of this stuff will have sorted itself out in my head. If anyone has any input, please weigh in!
If you want to see if baseband change helps.
Root the phone, install baseband changer (or something) and try out the Argentinian. They also use the 850/1900 frequentie band. T-mobile uses 850/1700/2100.
But normally I thought that was only needed to get 3g working.
Further updates and no luck.
I made the mistake of letting the phone update via wifi, thinking that might help, so now at 2.3.6 I can't seem to unlock it - tried superoneclick and doomlord, no luck so far. I'm very close to seeing if I can't get my money's worth of frustrations out of this phone with a 12lb sledgehammer. Wouldn't be the most expensive thing I've ever destroyed!
Its funny, this same kind of crap with the SLVR I bought years ago was why my last motorola product was going to be the last thing I ever purchased from them. Fool that I am, I thought I'd give them another chance.
For rooting the phone on 2.3.6 check the 'bl7 finally rooted' threat.
Have you tried factory reset? Read somewhere that that helps
Yes, I had tried the factory reset. The "BL7 finally rooted" thread did root the phone. I haven't done the baseband switch yet, but I'm hopeful.
Baseband switcher thread
Well, I should've listened to labsin in the first place - go figure.
My phone is now unlocked, rooted and baseband switched - it now recognizes US 3G, but the sim is still invalid. On the upside, I think I know what the problem is now. Turns out AT&T sometimes locks their sims for 180 days to the phone you activate it with. I guess I need to go to the store and try to get a different sim out of them.
If its at&t go phone u need to call at&t and have ur sim unlocked . Its locked to the phone u activate it in for so many months. Just tell them that ur go phone wont work and u cant return it . Hope this works for u . I had to do this couple times .

Didnt read all of ur last post before i posted . Sorry . But just give them a call . U shouldnt need a new one ..

Probably ought to call them from a landline, huh?
I tried going into the store yesterday. The girl there told me it was locked for 30 days, which is different than the six months I had heard elsewhere. I wonder if she was just trying to keep the great big scary guy (aka me) from losing his temper. I get it, I guess. They don't want people with smartphones using their $50 prepay unlimited, then tethering their laptop off it... What kind of person would do such a thing. On the other hand, don't call it unlimited if it isn't!
Ahhhh, victory. Thanks for all the help. By the look of things, switching basebands was necessary in the end, so I'm glad I went through all the trouble. I can't believe some of you guys do this as a hobby, I'd rather slam my privates in a car door than go through this again!

Before buying a used Note 3? Most important things to check.

i am going to buy a used note 3
i already have some info about a used phone here
please tell me how to check if note 3 has been tripped or not
i mean how can i check knox is 0x1 or 0x0 (without using a pc)
Put the phone in download mode
Power button + volume down + home button.
Once done, it'll ask you to confirm by pressing volume up and it'll show you all the info you need.

If you have the IMEI it might be an idea to see if it's been blocked because its been reported stolen or lost...
Don't buy a China Fake Note 3

IMHO top on the list:
- check if it is not a fake Note 3
- check if the model works for your country/carrier (huge problem in some places of the world, including US, where the LTE or even 3G bands are different from one carrier to another)
- check if phone is not under contract; if you have any doubts see if you can pay with a credit card or something that can cover your loss if the owner later (usually 45+ days later) reports the phone stolen and your IMEI gets blacklisted.
there are too many things i have come to know from all you guys. now i feel that i should go for note 2 (brand new)
in case if i buy note 2 . what i am loosing ? i mean anything special with note 3 i can get for daily use?
i think both the device are almost same, only difference that note 3 does it faster.is that true?

I am experiencing this right now. I bought a Note 3 on Swappa in November and a few days ago it was blocked (you can read the full story in my thread). It's a crappy thing to go through. Now i'm scrambling to find a way to not have a useless phone or lose lots of money selling it.
IF you (OP) can, I would say to just save the extra money and get it straight from T-Mobile. If it's a phone you will keep for a couple of years, then the extra $150 or so is worth it for the piece of mind imho.
As for the Note 2 vs Note 3, the Note 3 is faster yes, but it also has a larger 1080p screen (vs 720p on the Note 2). I think the battery life is better as well.
If you don't really need the larger screen on the Note 3, you might want to check out the Nexus 5 as well.
Besides dead pixels, also check for "Burn in" on the amoled screen..
*#0*# and spend some time checking the screen on all the colors (blue, red, green, white)

and yes ,i dont need a larger screen (as it is slightly bigger and better) i think i would be happy with note 2 screen
anything else can i miss?except the fastness and the screen?
Note 3 also has a newer and better wacom digitzer so a better s pen than note 2. It looks better to. And more future proof. But note 2 is still a very good phone.

I am trying to get it unlocked first and see whether I can use it on a smaller carrier like Straight Talk or Simple Mobile. If not, I might end up just getting a cheap $99 4G phone and tethering the Note 3 like a tablet. Sucks, but there aren't many good choices left.

can you make internet working with another mobile using hotsopt?
if yes i would buy your phone please dont sell it to any other person . i will be highly obliged to you if you give me your phone.
I dont know if this will help, but it might be worth a shot.
If you buy a used phone, and the previous owner pulls a fast one with customer service, ask customer service if there is a way you can verify the legitimate sale of the device. I would not suggest buying a used phone from online stores if you can avoid it.
One way you can prevent sellers from getting over on you, is to notify the website you used to buy the phone, that the seller is engaging in illegal behavior. In the USA, once you sell a product, unless otherwise stated in the TOS/EULA/Copyright, etc, you no longer own it. This is especially true, when you are buying a product in any condition, from any party other than a licensed retailer and/or the company who branded and/or created the product.
Some websites like Ebay and Paypal will help to protect the funds you used to purchase the device, if the seller engages in such behavior. It is best to report any incidents as soon as possible, after the problem arises. The seller may not be indemnified if they report the device stolen after the normal refund period offered by Ebay, Paypal, etc. In the USA, it is illegal to deface, or cause to be defaced, any material or non material product which you do not legally own and/or have permission from the owner to deface and/or make changes to. Any intentional or avoidable (in good faith) act/s which cause a product to no longer work as it did at the time of purchase is considered defacing, or causing to be defaced. There are no criminal liabilities here, but, if Paypal/Ebay/Swappa/etc, wont help you, then you might be able to regain your lost funds in the form of civil damages.
Please keep in mind im speaking from the point of USA laws and regulations.

Will I be able to buy a SIM card and use my 935FD in Japan?

I was just wondering If anyone from USA has any knowledge about using this phone in Japan. Basically I was just wondering if this was possible, Im getting a lot of conflicting info, and at this point it seems that most people who travel to Japan get pocket wifi. Which is cool, but I would like to be able to use the phone if I had to for text/call.
Thanks!
Hello there, I'm not from the states but I have been in the US and Japan with my phone and had no issue. Other than that you will find yourself struggling with the sim card if you want it for calling. As for the data you can go to BIC camera shops - they are everywhere - and ask for data sim card. They will want your ID/PP. Its ridiculously expensive(dont go over 3000Y on 30days/2gb deal) for what it is, but...it is what it is. You will have coverage everywhere. Japan also offer lots of free WIFI through this app: Japan Connected-free Wi-Fi.
I know its off topic and I hope this will help you... but if you go to Japan to travel a lot by JR (Shinkanzen) and unless you are ridiculously rich buy yourself Japan Rail Pass - You must buy it BEFORE YOU ENTER Japan(buy online or from travel agent - it is physical coupon you have to have- printing it out at the airport r just before you leave isn't an option). When i was there 2 months ago it wasn't possible to buy it in Japan. I heard that since march it is possible but you wont be able to save as much. It will save you loads of cash and I mean loads. Price is 46,700Y/14days standard (you dont need the first class). I have saved 85,000Y but I was travelling a lot. If you stay just in one place its no point.

S8 Active and using it in germany. Possible? Problemes?

Hi everyone!
I am from germany and right now I own a Samsung Galaxy S5 Neo and wanna upgrade. So I thought of importing a unlocked S8 Active (the outdoor version of the normal S8) to my country. I will use it for geocaching things and in this case it should be nearly perfekt (big accu, waterressist, ....)
I don't like the normal version cause I don't like the curved display. Think the active version should be the better choice for me.
Will it work there in german language and will it get updates here in germany? OTA or so? Or will I have problems with it. Maybe I had to use Samsung Updater (Smart Switch) on PC but better is it when OTA would work here too.
Can I repair it in my country, when something goes wrong or must I send it back to the USA for repair? It is cheaper to repair it here and sending it back it is maybe more expensive than it could be.
Maybe someone can answer my view questions, cause this is nearly the smartphone I like, but it is not officially sold here from samsung, so I had to import it.
Greetings!
I would say .. DONT
A Samsung update killed all my sensors. and no warranty here.
Read here :- https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s8/help/s8-update-messed-sensors-t3812085
There are thousands of users with this problem. for their S8 S8+ Note 8 etc
Stay away from Samsung. Their products are not what they appear, starts deteriorating and slows down. a lot.
I know you are not interested in the Curved screen but just my thoughts. The curve screen is more of a problem than its looks. Many apps do not respond well with the edge touch. for a Tempered Glass you need to pay a lot else they do not work well with the curved screen.
Advice
Stay away from S8 and if you want S8 buy it locally else Samsung has devised up ways to mess your phone pretty bad.
Buy something from your area that would help you and those are better in Utility and 1/4th the price.
Language and updates should not be a problem.
I got some import phones and it wasn't a hard deal to change the system language to german or other.
OTA should work too, because the phone doesn't care if you're in Germany, China, USA or elsewhere. As long as it can connects to the servers, there should be a update possible.
For the repair part, I can't tell you a thing.
I'd say, that you ask all the questions to Samsung's support.
According to frequencycheck, LTE and all other will work just fine in Germany.
Only thing I see is, that it will come with tons of bloatware, which you can (mostly) just deactivate but not uninstall.

Sadly the two stuffs you stated ain't accurate.
Samsung has messed up my phone with their latest update.. There are thousands of customers who are facing this with their s8 / s8+ and Note 8
Normally anyone with commonsense would know that an update is pushed, only when a device is compatible. But the service center guys shamelessly answer that this is country specific
Which brings up the second question.
You may ask whom so ever. SHAME sung doesn't have International Warranty.. I brought this from the Middle East.
Couldn't sell it as I was relocating ... now just because of a Samsung update, mine and thousand other phones are messed up

That's more than sad for you.
But for me, I never had a single problem with my S8 (newest update) or with the Samsung support (and I consider myself as a heavy user, who modifies and complains a lot).
Also you are the first one S8 user, whom I heard of, that there is a problem with the phone. In addition, I could not find any regional (Germany) information or bigger complaints of the latest update. Several of my family members have no problems, not a single of the ones you stated in your original post. FYI, no one of them flashed other CSC or things like that.
THAT may be a country specific problem (as you stated in another post of you, that your s8 is from middle East imported to India).
So your service center guys are correct, that some things are country related like date of a new update, push service etc. But, the phone will be an import just like yours and I think it should get updates, at least via pc (smart switch).
I think, if the OP would buy an unlocked version, he wouldn't have to flash other CSC or anything just to get it working (but again, better ask Samsung support).
So please, discuss your anger and warn other (potential) users in your topic and not under someone, who just wants to know if the S8 active will function it germany (which it should).

As others have already told you, OTA updates etc. won't pose a problem, though if the S8 Active you're buying isn't from Europe (e.g. the US version) you usually have to use it with a SIM card in the corresponding country, meaning you'd have to have a 5 minute call with any old person in the US, otherwise the phone won't accept your SIM and you will be unable to place calls etc. in Europe/Germany.
So just keep that in mind.
Hi from Europe
Can someone with s8 ACTIVE confirm if the latest update messed up their phone. And if so please attach the screenshots where I can see which update this is.
I'm buying used S8 ACTIVE from US and I would like to check if the user didn't updated their phone yet ?
Tnx
