I have noticed my unit has a slight pink hue. When tilting device vertically I can see it disappears and its only visible when looking straight on the screen.
I am not used to AMOLED displays, last I used was Galaxy S2 is this a common issue or maybe not an issue?

I saw this too, but it seems to have settled with use
I have a replacement coming tomorrow for slight cosmetic damage on the back so will see if it has that hue or not

I take back my original reply, pink hue still there
It looks like its the "feature" of this panel. Something I need to get used to.

Are you sure its not your face, mine looks pinkish dead on and looks normal again at an angle.
Switch to sRGB aswel as the out of the box settings look like a HD Cartoon
I don't think it's a face reflection. I have tried sRGB but its way too washed for my liking.

My display is warmer/yellower than I expected straight on (not as much from an angle) - I thought they figured this stuff out by now?
When I turn on sRGB mode it makes it less yellow but too washed out and it doesn't seem to stick after reboot. Anyone?
Put it this way, whites on mine definitely do not look pure white like some reviews have said. I hate how screens can differ....

I feel mine is the same. I recently had a HTC one m7 so maybe it is just me being not used to AMOLED displays but mine feels very yellow/warm... I can only see true whites when looking at the screen from an angle!

Yes sounds like mine. I called Google and they said if I want I can have another sent to me (they would put a hold/authorization charge on my account) and then I send the original back when received. Then the hold/charge is dropped. I told them I'd think about it.
Any chance the warmness will change/look more normal over time or no? I'm pretty positive that it is actually more yellow than it is supposed to be compared to "normal" ones, so don't second guess yourself if you think it is. I've had this issue so many times in the past with phones....

Hmm.. It's a bit gutting if something is wrong! I've just managed to set the darn thing up. It does feel awfully yellow... The only way I could know if it wasn't right was to see another one... So maybe I'll have to pop to CPW and see if they have a display one to compare to.. I only have 14 days to do an exchange of needed and I'm already 2 days into that now!
I'd feel stupid if I took this back and nothing was wrong but at the same time I'd feel stupid keeping this handset and finding out that the screen was rubbish!

I've just read online the 5x has had massive issues with yellow screens. Google is replacing them so I'm definitely going to pop into CPW and raise the issue with them. When holding my phone next to my old HTC one m7 its clearly very yellow, which can't be right!
Frustrating as I imagine that CPW won't have a replacement in stock yet...
Just google nexus 5x yellow screen to see what has been happening!

Yep I saw the 5X issues.
Well let me know what happens when you go.
Thanks.
Every amoled I have has had this to a certain extent or another. My GS6 edge, my Moto Maxx (international version of the turbo).. It's something I have grown use to on amoled displays. I can see it in all of them, even if it's slight. Some people just do not see it or notice it for whatever reason.
I have a felling that all phones will have this "issue".
I had mine against Galaxy S6 edge plus and it seemed that mine has a better colours etc. But it was on the first day and I didn't notice pink/yellow hue so wasn't looking for it in Samsung device.
Regarding CPW exchange stock. I have ordered it this morning in store and got a text it has been despatched so should have it tomorrow.
So don't worry and go to store. Just say you spoke to customer service and they told you to come to store to order new one.

I was just going to ask this - for the people who are saying the screen is great and whites are really white, etc...I mean they can't really be seeing what we are seeing right? It's not awful or terrible but it is definitely noticeable slightly yellowish/warm to me, especially compared to my LCD G3 screen and an iPhone 5 screen.
Do you really think all AMOLEDs are slightly yellow/warm? I can't let myself believe that but at the same time I haven't had an AMOLED in a while so it's hard for me to decide in my mind...

I was talking more about the pinkish hue. Amoled whites have always sucked. lol They are never white but always have a tint to them. With the nexus s it was a blueish tint, with later devices like the GS6, Turbo etc... it's a pinkish tint.. I mean if you just do a search of Insert_any_device_name_that_uses_amoled_screens_here and "pink tint" or "blue tint" or "purple tint" there will be at least one thread or something about it online for every single device.. lol I think some people's eyes aren't as sensitive to it so it's not as noticeable to them

Well I consider mine more yellow than pinkish, and also goes away when you tilt it - but I'm sure everyone sees the temperature slightly different.
I know there are always variations of screens but knowing that there PROBABLY is a much more balanced/correct version of the display out there is an awful feeling - the thought of having to get a second one and the second one will possibly suck too is just the worst (first world problems).
It also sucks that these aren't in local stores to go in and compare the display to.
Fwiw, mines the exact same way. There's a small degree of head-on angle that goes yellow-whites instead of bluish-whites.
Putting it side-by-side with my Turbo, its still a lot less yellow and I never had an issue with the Turbo screen.

Is it normal for the screen to be a bit yellow when the back-light is dim? While the back light is ~50% to 100% it's a nice clear white. When it's turned down though it has a yellow/green tint. I had an Epic before the fascinate, and it was always a clear white. Side-by-side the epic was also a bit brighter.
Picked up a Droid X yesterday, since it was the last day for the buy one get one free, and it's screen is even brighter than the fascinate. Which seems to contradict most of the reviews and comparisons I've read.
I'm wondering if this is normal, or if i should get it exchanged since it's only my 3rd day with the phone.
It's funny that you say something like that because I used to have the epic and the screen on my fascinate has colors off as well. whites look yellower and greys and blacks have a red hue so they look almost maroon. My brother's fascinate does not have these issues and looks exactly as my epic did.
edit: also, this is with any screen brightness not just minimum

Does your screen turn a bit yellow when the backlight dims as well?

it is yellowish at 0%, yes, but darker greys are almost maroon as I said
it makes the lighter greys look green and the darker greys look maroon, so it's definitely something i'll be exchanging in the near future. I just need to have the time
My whites also have a yellow tint. Is this anything to worry about or will Voodoo ColorFix fix it?
I think my wife's phone has the same issue. After reading this thread I compared them and there is definitely a difference.
There doesn't seem to be a difference at the higher brightness settings though. (remove the space in the url to see my comparison)
This is at 0% brightness (my wife's is on the left)

I took mine up to the store today, and i'm going to exchange it for a new one tomarrow(store was closing). They said it was defective.

I would. The store should do an even exchange. After all, the screen is best part of the galaxy S phones.
My wife and I just got back from exchanging her phone, and out of two new phones they checked, they both had the same yellow hue... their display unit didn't, and neither did the associate's Fascinate who helped us. I wasn't going to make them open more phones up as this store has been really good to us.
The associate said he thinks that may just be the way they are manufacturing them. If that is the case, perhaps it is the software, and there is a setting buried somewhere that can be changed. I'm not sure, but I am curious to hear about everyones results on their exchanges.

Samsung did an awful job calibrating the display. Colors are extremely saturated(I'm a home theater buff and it looks like that awful dynamic/vivid setting.) I don't mind it though. I just wish this could display whites like my Droid. Maybe I should try returning it and see if I can get one with a working GPS and good screen?

I don't believe that it is just the way they are manufacturing them or else both mine, my epic's, and my brother's display would all be the same regarding colors. The colors should not be so significantly different between two units of the same model if they are manufacturing them properly. I will be returning mine and making sure they open them until the displays are properly colored... I am only returning one unit and I, like most consumers on xda, am not part of the majority they serve so I actually... well, notice the color difference.
Please don't put me in the "unwarranted exchange" club! My display really is off, and I haven't seen this in any of the other Galaxy S forums, just the Fascinate. I feel ripped off after having switched from Verizon to Sprint for the Epic, then being unsatisfied with my sprint bill/Epic switching back to Verizon and getting a junk display.

What's funny, and is actually kind of bugging me now is that my phone (without the yellowish tint) has noticeably dimmer capacitive buttons than my wifes new one. This might be due to it almost being a month old vs. one that is only a few hours. But if the LEDs are diminishing that quickly, what will they look like in another month, or even six months from now? I just don't think Samsung's quality control is what it should be.
As far as the screen, it isn't that big of a deal to me since the phone only has the yellow hue on the dimmest settings. If it were noticeable on brighter, or even mid settings then I'd be having a fit until we got one that looked good to us.
Your particular case sounds like it is way worse than what my wife and I have experienced. It sounds like a genuine defect, and you SHOULD get a replacement.
I just got back with my new one, no yellow tint at all.
The Vibrant has had similar issues with their displays. Ranges from a brown to a blue tint even. I've read a few about Epics having a yellow tint as well. So it's not unique to the fascinate.
I don't mind "vibrant" colors as long as the black is as black as possible. Even if it makes my ViewSonic look dull.
Now that I really look at it, whites are very blue tinted, while other colors are yellow tinted or over-saturated(which is on every one of these. The D1, D2, DX, and iPhone 4 are the only phones I've ever seen calibrated correctly out of the box.) Is this a defect? I am just happy these whites aren't like my friend Incredible's. His whites get black streaks down one line of pixels(it's hard to explain, but looks awful.) To return or not to return? If I return they better apply a new Invisible Shield for free.
Wow, you guys are really picky. I'm not about to say that my Fascinate's screen is perfect, but then again, no screen is. They ALL have flaws, one way or another. I for one have noticed that whites have a bluish tint, which strangely changes to a yellowish tint when I press on the screen. Does this make me want to complain and return the phone? Of course not. It really is not worth the hassle of going through that. Honestly though, I've never seen a screen that looks more awesome than this super AMOLED screen, despite the minor flaws. Guess there's just no pleasing some people. ;-)

The screen on my new one seems pretty perfect to me. No tints, and certainly doesn't change color when i touch it. Guess some people prefer to accept defects and substandard quality control.
Squeaky wheel gets the oil.
Went into the Verizon store today - the associate who I spoke with immediately recognized the problem, but I did pull out my brother's fascinate without color issues so we wouldn't have to go and check a floor model.
At first she said "Here, it's probably fixed" when she turned the backlight up, but when I showed her the difference between the two phones with the backlight dimmed to lowest. I mentioned the battery drain with it higher would not really be acceptable to me, she was more than glad to accept it as an exchange for a new Fascinate.
I also had my contract switched over to 1 year because I forgot to do that when I was in there and getting my old fascinate... sort of happens when you're sitting around for two hours. Picked up the extended battery too - not nearly as bad as people say unless you're shirt-pocketing it.
Took all of 45 minutes, I guess I was lucky - the longest part was the line.
Tints vary from handset to handset.
Hey just wanted to chime in.
I've compared Epic, Fascinate, Vibrant, and Captivate side by side. Here is what I found, almost no two screens have the same hue/tint/.
These are the following tints I've noticed.
Pink
Yellow (the best in my opinion)
Brown
blue/green
blue
blue/gray
When testing the phones, I set them side by side, and set the same brightness levels to test.
Why these tints vary so much, from individual to individual handset is a good question. I saw two Epic's in a sprint store side by side, one was blue tinted one was brown. Same exact settings. So strange.
Hi everyone. After GS1, GS2 I've bought GS3.
Really disappointed for the viewing angles (on whites/grays), the worst I've aver found in amoled/ips lcd recently.
As I tilt the screen 15-20 degrees (normal use movement exspecially when you write/use it with one hand) during mail, web, whatsapp all the whites begin to show a sort of polarized/light blue reflection that seems to be caused by Gorilla Glass/amoled interaction. Very very annoying and tiring for my eyes, and of course not beautiful to see on a 600€ 4,8" display.
On Italian forums I have to say 90% of users experienced this, but maybe in my GS3 this effect is more prominent, difficult to say, I cannot compare by now.
I'd like to have feedbacks from you, don't know if return it and buy a new one.
Cheers.
Im swapping mine in store for the same reason.

Hi.
Is the new one replaced better?
I never understood why viewing angles were a problem. You're using your phone wrong if you need to view it at a 20 degree plus angle.

Never had viewing angle issues with past phones. Never.
With this GS3 simply cannot move it, or I have a blu reflection.
Just want to know if it's just mine.
It's the same with all amoleds ...but I don't think it affects the usage that much and it's only noticeable on plain white backgrounds ...
Haven't been to swap it yet. Im going tomorrow i'll let you know. Been having call issues were it sounds like I've gone under water about 1 min into some calls.

I have exactly the same thing on the lower part of the screen. The grey's temperature is "colder" than the rest of the screen. If you test the screen with "*#0*#" with the three diff colours is fine, the "issue" is only with white and grey background.

Though I also know many have said that they don't have tint but I never got any galaxy without tint just my luck I suppose... Htc one x slcd2 doesnt have that issue but battery life is too poor on it that's why got sgs3...sgs3 is superb in every way..

This sound quality issue sounds very much like a problem described in other threads.
Perhaps you have already seen this, but if not, be aware that the problem has been solved by the majority of people simply by switching OFF the "noise reduction" feature under "Call Settings" (it's set ON be default)
Thanks for the reply but I had seen the other threads and switched off noise cancellation but still suffered from the "underwater" problem
Thanks

Sorry for the delay
Sorry for the delay in replying to this thread. I have just got back from the Carphone Warehouse where I checked four different Pebble Blue S3's...guess what.....They all had a Purple tint to them.
When They where first booted up they looked "OK" but when I turned the brightness all the way up and open a white webpage like google you could see a purple hue/tint to the screen but it looked fine when you look at it straight on,
I only have another 4 day before I can exchange mine for a new phone, seriously considering getting a HOX instead at this point. Or failing that sitting in a Samsung Service centre until I find one that doesn't have this awful tint.
I'll keep posting on this thread if I manage to find ones without the tint but I've got a feeling that the CPW UK has got a bad batch in at the moment.
My screen seems okay in regards to tint overall but the top 20% of the screen or so is bluer othan the rest and it gets gradually worse as you get to the top edge. At first it didn't bother me so much but now it's starting to get annoying =(
Hey guys, I've recently noticed my nexus 6p has a very warm/yellow feel to it when compared to other devices such as my old HTC one m7!
I did some reading and apparently the nexus 5x has had a massive problem with "yellow screens".
Now am I just being naive as I've never had an AMOLED display before or is there likely to be something wrong?
Also, is it likely to be software related as its affected both the 5x and 6p?
Thanks
Mine does not have a yellow tint, not sure about if it is software.
I am coming from Oneplus One. After two days with 6p it does have yellow whites and a bit of pinkish hue when looking straight at it, when tilting it disappears (pink).
Looking back at Oneplus One feels too blue on the other hand

Could it be the adaptive display?
I seem to recall the Nexus 6 having various screen issues upon release, too.
I switched adaptive display off and no change so I guess its not that. I think this is its "feature" and we have to live with it

It's just the way the screen is calibrated. This will be adjustable later on in development I'm sure.
yea, its how the screen is calibrated. i compared it to my oneplus and the oneplus has a more white color, though a slight blueish tint. the nexus 6p has a more yellow screen.
Loose Part(s) When Tapping on Screen?
Yes. If they don't tweak it, then surely the community will.
On another hand, does anyone have a hollow/loose sound when tapping on the top right quarter of the screen? The sound reminds me of a loose ceramic buttons on a Nexus 5. It feels as if it's behind the screen just right of the speaker but sounds as if it's out the side.
Could be the adhesive for attaching the screen... If the yellow goes away after a day or two the adhesive needed to cure. It's happened with other devices
Put it side by side with my Nexus 6. Apparently the Nexus 6 screen is super yellow, never noticed. The 6P is MUCH whiter. Looks great.
Ask Google if you should return it. I've seen some complains around about yellowish screens. During the reviews one thing that was pointed out was precisely the opposite, with the 6P having a much cooler screen than the 5X, way more to the blue (cool) than to the warm (yellow) whites.
A bit strange you find the opposite.

I bought it from Carphonewarehouse (UK) so I may speak to them!
Pink not Yellow
Mine's got a pinkish hue at certain angles, but no yellow. Have come from an S4, which has a much whiter screen. Changing to sRGB gets rid of the pink hue but gives ghastly washed out colours instead. Guess we have to wait for some kind of tuning facility.
I'm very disappointed in the screen calibration. The 6p has the same pixel dimensions as the Nexus 6 with the 6p having slightly more pixels per inch. When I play a youtube video side by side the 6p looks terrible!!! Especially since during the keynote they said they worked really hard to get the colors right on the screen calibration. I hope this can be fixed with a software update. I might be returning mine.

When I play a youtube video side by side the 6p looks terrible!!! Especially since during the keynote they said they worked really hard to get the colors right on the screen calibration. I hope this can be fixed with a software update. I might be returning mine.

It does seem like the calibration is off compared with my old HTC one m7. However I just compared my 6p to a mates nexus 6 screen and his is a lot more yellow than mine! So that's made me feel a bit better.
Hopefullythis can be fixed on the software side!

Mine's got a pinkish hue at certain angles, but no yellow. Have come from an S4, which has a much whiter screen. Changing to sRGB gets rid of the pink hue but gives ghastly washed out colours instead. Guess we have to wait for some kind of tuning facility.

I too have the pinkish hue but I have come use to this on amoled displays. Every single phone I've had with a amoled display has had a pinkish hue. So either I'm very unlucky and keep getting device after device with a bad screen, or I have eagle eyes and I can see it when others can't.. haha Some times people do not notice it. I think it really has to do with your eyes. If they are sensitive enough to see it. For example. I work for Swappa and me and my co-worker both had the international version of the Droid Turbo(The Moto Maxx) I had asked him if he noticed a pink hue, he said no he did not.. When we met in person I saw it right away. While it wasn't as pronounced as it was on my device, it was still there. He didn't see it.
Last night I was chatting with Derek Ross from phandroid and I showed him a pic of my 6p screen.. I saw pink..he said it looked fine to him.. lol I still might order a replacement just to see if the next one is like that.

I am using a screen filter app now and it seems to fix the screen so I'm pretty happy!

Store bought or online?
I'd go there indeed. If they have stock they should replace it.
Saw below you tuned it with an app (which?) but that may not be a permanent solution.

It's called MOBTI screen filter. I just put it to like 15-19% opacity and only had the blue halfway, a tiny bit or red, no green and it feels a lot better. Obvs its a temp solution, but it shows it can be fixed by software changes!
This is my first time with an AMOLED screen and I keep reading things about tints and such with the screen. I don't see any colored tints yet though I'm still waiting on my Sim card to really use it, just set it up ahead of time. I did notice though that when I compared it to my Nexus 5 the whites on my N6P look kinda off white. I'm not sure if that's normal or not?

If the tint of the screen is uneven or there is an excessive yellow tint then the screen is duff. Have a look in the "pink hue" thread in the Q&A section and there's pics of the uneven green/pink tints. If you don't see any and you like the screen then there's no issue. At the end of the day, it's your perspective of whether or not you have a problem.

If it looks fine your screen is fine. Don't psych yourself out reading all those posts. Most of those people are crazy

If you don't see anything wrong with it why are you going to go looking for something wrong?
Really. I have this ever so slight purplish/pinkish thing on the right that doesn't seem to be there all the time. Literally the only time I ever see it again is when I'm in these forums and someone reminds me to start looking for it with a post about it. Seriously.

If you can't see a problem with the screen by looking at it then you're fine. Don't go looking for issues with something because you'll psych yourself into thinking something is wrong when nothing is wrong. . I use to be the same way trust me. Just enjoy a great phone with a really good dev community..
I was just asking if the whites not looking pure white was normal. I said I don't see any colorish tint but I posted this cause I have no experience with AMOLED and didn't know if that was normal for this type of screen or not. I'm not looking for issues its just a question.
Is there an app to test for tint?
There's considerable variability in the white point of AMOLED displays due to the manufacturing process. Each one is a little different. Hey, it's "organic", right? Seems like they should be able to calibrate that at the factory, but apparently not. If you send it back and get another one, it might look whiter, or it might not. It should look reasonably uniform, and reasonably white. If you think it's unacceptable, send it back.
If you're worried that it might not be exactly 6000 Kelvins, then you should seek therapy.
Back in the Galaxy Nexus days, I saw one that was very pink, one very yellow, and one that was just right (mine!).
So I got a replacement cause I felt the screen had a tint.. Here is the comparison pics... The one on the left is the replacement. Think the difference is clear.
Just out of curiosity, how are the perfectionists claiming the screen should look? Mine is like the left image, and I'm happy with it.

The screen should have an even tint all the way across it. Both of the screens in the pic change from a pink to a green/blue tint.

As long as your happy, thats what matters.
I admit I have OCD when it comes to electronics. Got an RMA with a screen that works for me, so I am happily enjoying my phone. :victory:
Got get over it at some point.
Call me crazy but I can deal with the uneven tint. Hell, as I was taking the pics I didn't even notice it, although I probably will now lol but what bugged me and made me RMA was the solid film which looks like a yellowish tint that dulled whites and kinda the screen as a whole. I'm happy with the replacement even if its not perfect

The replacement device on the left looks worse than the 'defective device' but they're both bad if I'm honest. RMA again buddy.
I just checked with my mate's 6P and mine and mine was brighter than his and he noticed this. His display was less warm too but a bit on the grey side. Both panels had an even color finish, unlike your samples mate.
Here's mine at lowest brightness. Not sure if its "perfect" or not but seems fine to me.

Hello guys...I think my nexus 6P has pretty bad viweing angles. It is exactly...and I mean exactly like in this video.
http ://youtu.be/XhEC4dE5XHg
Is it normal for amoled screens? Is yours the same? What should I do? I love this phone...but this is concerning me. I am waiting for your answers as I do not know if I should Return this one and ask for a new one.
Update 1: do you think a tempered glass protector will make a difference? I am about to apply one but if my unit is defective Ivwill wait until I exchange it
The viewing angles for me are crap. If I tilt it upwards the screen goes completely pink/purple. Left and right give a rainbow tint. I don't notice it 95% of the time though

Do you think this is like a common thing? Or are we unlucky and most of the screens are better? It also pisses me off a little...otherwise i love the phone...but idk if I should ask for a replacement or not. I might also get a screen with a worst effect so that is why I am scard.
I think all screens are the same. Samsung kept the 100% ones and gave Huawei the 2. choice samples. If you use a higher brightness, it´s not really that bad. I´ve seen worse screens eg. in a Samsung Galaxy SIII where you could spot the glue marks..

Funny enough i am coming from an s3 and had no problems with the screen on that one. I had to choose between the 6P and the s6 edge plus....and i chose the 6P cuz I saw that the edge plus had a really loose home button and I didn't want that. I still want the 6P more...i just really fell in love with it...but I do not know if I should try and rma it...
Is your also the same?
It's very common. There are several threads on here about it, lots of people affected and some having to return their phones 4 or 5 times to get one they are reasonable happy with.
Mine was really bad especially at angles. I returned for a refund. I couldn't be bothered to return it multiple times. Also I was annoyed that Google was ignoring my emails about it.

I really do not know what to do...also...if I should try another 6P or not...I am kinda afraid cuz at over 60% brighteness...my whites are actually whites instead of the pinkish whites i saw on this forum...at 100% even with adaptive they look really good. I am afraid I will get a unit with really bad uneven screen. I will try and post some pictures in a bit
It's frustrating. Like you I had an s3 and the screen on that was great. It didn't have bad whites or bad viewing angles and that was years ago

You might get used to the screen, don´t worry The Nexus 5 ( 2013 ) had a different type of screen where you could see the digitizer matrix if you looked close enough I´m happy with my Nexus 6p though it´s slightly warped now. The phone is great but not very sturdy from a mechanical point of view.

What do you mean when you say "warped" ?
I will post shortly some photos of the screen. Please let me know what you think
Okay....so here are my photos
It's an amoled. I've 4 s6. 2 10.5 tab s . 8.4 tab s and now a 9.7 tab s2 and there all the same. So it's not a defect . It's only wrong if it has a very noticeable hue or is uneven in colour. if it's even and has nice whites don't risk it
It's a shame because I love this damn device besides the crappy screen angles. Any slight deviation from straight on give me a bluish hue. Sad because the colors are so vibrant. I have played a bit with the saturation settings in Franco's kernel, but the color temp doesn't go high enough to tame the warm whites as much as I want. Just got my phone this past Monday and am still on the fence about an RMA. I just got the phone running where I want on CATA with Franco.

Okay guys...this is my screen. The brighteness was at less than 50 and more than 70. Most of the shots were taken with adaptive brighteness on. The photos where the screen is really bright were taken with adaptive off and brighteness at around 90%
What do you think, should I try to replace it with a new one or do you think the screen is good enaugh? Would you keep it?

That's looks like a good screen to me. Very uniform. Keep it . I would be chuffed if mine was like that. I think we become obsessed when first coming from Lcd or Ips screens but our eyes adjust and we end up realising that we have a good amoled or not. that comparable to the whites on my Samsung S6. And it took me 4 s6 phones to get a screen this good
Thanks a lot for your reply! You made me smile a little and feel better about it . When you say "that comparable to the whites on my Samsung S6." you mean that you compared my screen to your s6 or? I also think the screen looks kinda okay...getting just a little pink when I change the viewing angle...and then green if I move it a bit more. That's why I am saying I think the viewing angles are the ones bothering me. my screen also gets kinda pink...but when I get the brightenes all the way down and I am in adaptive mode. does that also happen on yours?
