thought I'd already seen this discussed on here somewhere but can't find it now when searching.. I've been having problems today with my phone getting quite hot around the top of the screen.. I took the battery cover off and it was noticably hotter just to left of the second mic (as viewed from the back)..
anyone else have this, and do you know what components are in that part of the phone?

I have this issue when i play games etc Don't know the reason though
I had mentioned this before...but most people replied here saying that it was normal....mine goes upto 38-40C while playing games...
It's probally the cpu that is there. All the phones are heating and that the arc is slim you feel it really quick. Nexus is heating when using GPS navigation.
But i agree the arc is heating really quick.
smart phone are ****ing laptops these days, does your laptop feel hot when you play game?
my phone was fine until today.. and it's only hot in that specific area.. not playing games though.. just surfing, facebook, xda..

Mine does the same, happened since day one, it wont be anything to worry about (I dont think)
If your worried about it overheating you could return it to where you got it from or even install setcpu and underclock it a tad.
same here, especially when surfing net
in my workplace where signal is not that good, that particular back area of the phone is hotter than when i'm at home. i'm guessing the 3g chip is in that area of the phone, not really sure though
This happened to me it is extremely hot when playing games and abit hot when charging I rang my network and they said they have never heard that it overheats so they replacing my new phone in the morning hopefully they come

If you are surfing internet, many flash ads may result in over usage of CPU and making your phone hot. Bad programing with flash which happens when companies hire cheaper developers...
Mine gets warm fast too... during navigation, game or downloading apps with 3G.
The processor area needs to dissipate heat to the outside surface and maybe since it is thin and plastic, we feel the heat easily.
Arc is a Hottie and hence it feels hot LOL.
I too experienced this, specially when charging and playing games. X10 gets hot in the battery area and this gets hot in a different area.
Well just received my phone lets see if anythings wrong with this 1

Honestly I'm surprised it gets warm if you're just browsing the internet and not charging. Charging gets the battery warm, and any sort of processor-intensive activity (such as gaming or software rendering) will get the cpu warm. It's nothing to worry about as long as it's not uncomfortably hot.
Its normal for it to be warm, just like a regular andriod phone.
the only part that gets warm from my unit is the battery i think as i have battery widget installed and i can see the temp aside from that no other part of the phone gets hot for me
Generally ok for me, except this morning when under direct sunlight on a hot day over here in sunny Singapore.
Temp went up to 44 degC according to the battery monitor widget. When i got back home, it went back down to 32 degC.

The max temp i got is 41c maybe there is an app that uses intense battery and cpu running in your background ?
I havet been monitoring my temps but the warmer side becomes annoying at times, though this is expected since the tablet is so thin.
asking about the browser
hi guys.... Just want to share n asked about GT P 6800 i have some problems when using the browser and i dont know it is becase the software ( a bug) or the hardware it self.... First when i using the browser it runs normaly and usually i open 6-8 tab but after one hour of using it the browser sudenly freeze for 10 seconds and back to the search option so all the tabs that i have opened were lost, so i wondering u all in this forum find the same problem or not.....plese i need some advice cause i really like this 7.7..... Thanks....oh my region at indonesia, jakarta
Mine gets warm too, around 70F outside. Going to download some temp app monitoring. Just browsing, reading pdfs.

Just surfing some websites with Flash under hot direct sunlight in a tropical country next to a swimming pool. Direct, radiated, reflected heat all in one, I'd suppose
When gaming, it gets so hot that it makes me think "this should definitely not be this hot", I would categorize it as "an unusual amount of heat". It makes me afraid I'm going to melt something on the inside haha so I give it a break. I know it's hard to describe temperature over the internet but is yours getting uncomfortably hot?
Near the top/topleft in landscape
Mine sometimes gets on the warm side, but the Nexus 10 has safeguards to prevent "dangerous" temps (your CPU clock will downclock in increments of 100MHz until the CPU gets cooler, and then spike back up to 1.7GHz; lowest I've seen it go was 800MHz).
Download Cooltool at play store and set up what you want to show as a floating widget. This is how I monitor my cpu, batt temp, ram, wifi strength etc. This way you can be more accurate in determining wether your device is too hot and if you should be worried.

Hey thanks a lot for that! but uhh how hot is too hot for the battery?
Mine gets really damn hot as well near the removable cover. I really pondered removing the cover and back and seeing if I can make vents in the back, with a screen, then I can remove that removable cover while gaming. It's most noticeable during Need for Speed most wanted.

It doesn't really bother me, per say, but I'm just worried that its going to mess it up, but at any rate good to know it's "normal"
Normal: 70 d F
TOO HOT: 95 d F
Mine does that too. I have noticed that the case is starting to warp where the heat is most concentrated... Just to the left side by the power button. Between the power button and the camera. Almost like some glue came off and the casing is separating...

That's not good
I was using mines for google talk video chat and it got really hot. I checked the temps and it was at 91F.
Ok I did a test again and it went up to 105F. All this just by video chatting. Thats not normal!
Mines getting hot too just an hour of browsing the web and its extremely warm.

Why do you think that? It's perfectly normal for a chipset like this.
Its not just the top part thats hot like it should be. By holding it with my hands on the side you can feel the heat.

If you blast through the battery in a few hours with 3D gaming or the like the battery will get warm, too (40-50°C).
it was only like 20 minutes. I'm not saying the device getting warm isnt normal. I know that it is. However the first device i had did not get as hot as this.
The N10 is thin and very powerful so heat might be more noticeable. As long as it's "only" getting warm and not slowing down/stuttering in this state, there's nothing to worry about.
lol thats kinda the problem. the video keeps stuttering and freezing and so does the game....
everyone should be undervolting the nexus 10
this device can't even run at stock speeds for extended lengths of time without throttling due to high temperature...
it's easy to test, just run StabilityTest (search google play) and run the Classic Test... you'll eventually see your CPU throttle down from 1700MHz (mine goes down to 1400MHz every so often... i'd probably go down even more if i hadn't undervolted it)
therefore, undervolting it will help it run at stock speeds for longer
I noticed mine heating up for the first time. Don't play many games at the moment. Heated up quite a bit between camera and buttons just like others have mentioned. I was playing ingress when I first noticed. Also when I was just using browser to the ingress/Intel page. I was thinking it had to do with GPS but after reading other comments I guess CPU was working hard refreshing page.

Is anyone of you facing heating issue. My phone says 140+ temp by power clean app and phone is always worm. I m also using spigen transparent case.
Power Clean is a big bloatware app in itself, you should consider something else (if at all) It will constantly fire up messages about how your phone is slowing down, filling up, at risk and heating up and I am certain most of it is inflated or simply just not true! They (and similar utlities) encourage people to keep interacting with the app which provides them with revenue. I don't think you should worry until the surfaces of the phone are too hot to touch.
I didn't feel any heat yet. Neither during charging nor during extensive gaming. You should get it checked if you think it is getting considerably hot.
Yes, I've noticed that the phone gets extremely hot. Especially on the right side. I'll try removing clean sweep.

No heating issues so far! From gaming to charging. Haven't played much with the wireless charging though since mine doesn't seem to work.
I do not noticed any heating issue its just power clean app reporting my CPU is Heating up. I have removed the app and phone is working as expected. I do play games and watch video no issue found
Battery solo widget works great for temp reading. My regular s6 edge would heat up to 115f sometimes. No issues with my edge plus though. Love this phone.

Have you got Google Photo's installed? Or tons of pictures on Dropbox or similar and have images or videos sync'd? When using an aggressive app cleaner it deletes huge cache stores of gallery or cloud apps. They get rebuilt causing the processor to go on a major workout.

Mine heats up too (g928c). HWmonitor also reported the temp rising upto 71 degrees CELSIUS!!! I also have lag sometimes when using the home button to wake the phone and read my fingerprint to unlock it instead of using the unlock button and then placing my finger on the sensor. The lag causes the phone to become unresponsive for about 20 seconds or so
Hi Everyone,
I recently got my S10+ and if i'm using the camera a bit while listening to music, I find the left side getting warm and even hot right below the Bixby Button, no other apps running to my knowledge.
Is this normal?

Viper

I had a oneplus 6 before and it never got hot when doing simple tasks, only after taking lots of photos, the camera module would get warm (normal) or when gaming (normal). It seems to get hot just using bluetooth buds and taking a few photos. So everyones will get warm in that area after a bit of regular use?
Could it be the battery calibrating? I saw someone mention it might get warm in the beginning but go away after a few days?

Viper

If my memory serves me right that is the location on the heat pipe on the s10 plus does not explain why it's getting hot but that's why it's in that area. The cpu is situated close to that spot too. I
On the oneplus the cpu is located at the top so when holding the phone the heat is at the top so you cannot feel it as much could be the reason .

I don't use the camera much so cannot speak for that but I do play pubg mobile and other games on it and the heat can be felt in that area. There is always a little more heat there compared to the rest of the phone even under normal use. Most phones use the phones body to help disperse heat as they don't have fans I think it is more likely this than an issue with the phone. Are you recording with the camera or just taking photos with it ?
OP, you need to come up with some numbers in regards to what temp the battery or CPU is at .
First thing I noticed with the s10+ is that it feels warmer in the hands than my previous galaxy devices, note 9, note 8, so etc. Its the frame and material design that I believe to be the case for better heat dissipation and faster CPU.

I can try to attach a photo later, what i've seen after installing an app to monitor cpu heat, is roughly around 110 F for the CPU, sometimes even when i'm not using it, the battery will be a bit under 100 F. Is this normal? I also noticed uusuallly more than half the ram is being used even when it seems I have no apps open.

Try wiping your phone factory reset and or if you have sd card remove that first. Use Aida64 to post screen shots of battery temps etc.
