This poll is to help everyone better understand what the average screen-on-time for Nexus 5X users is.
Please vote in the poll and share what you were doing with your device and what sort of settings you have changed (disabling system apps, Greenify, etc).
I don't mess with any battery saver type apps and I get 4 hours SOT consistently. The only time I don't is when I end up having 3-4 hours of phone calls.

I voted 2-3 only because I don't use my phone that much
Giving this a bump because I think it's very useful. Hope more people vote.

Lets just say if I can get 2hrs I'll be happier.... I usually get 1-1.5hrs and can get 2.5 if I disable bluetooth, location, and have adaptive brightness off with the display at 0 brightness. My phone is a unicorn of bad battery life
I've been getting 2-3 only and I am NOT very happy with this. I'm really considering strongly to send it back. I don't want the stress of my Phone not lasting me all day with the usage that I want. I don't want to need to live tethered to a charger.
I voted 4-5, but am a light user compared to most people I know, so that's well over a 24 hour period. I do believe if I used the phone as much as I used too, and most people I know do, I'd easily be close to 6.

Settings & apps usually have far less to do with SOT than use habits. If you want huge SOT, charge your phone to 100% and read a Kindle book in the dark with screen brightness turned down as far as possible until the battery dies. If you want lousy SOT, leave the phone off most of the day, then play a graphics-intensive FPS in full sunlight for an hour. An app syncing in the background every 15 minutes isn't going to have nearly as much impact.
My first day with the Nexus 5X game me just shy of four hours of SoT. 3 hours and 40 minutes to be exact. Mostly reddit and texting.
I'm not voting because of course the battery completely depends on the that day's specific usage and there's no options for multiple votes.
But I can tell you that my results so far have been 3 hours SoT with my heaviest usage (low signal mobile data with some gaming thrown in) and 5-6 hours SoT on more normal days (good signal, WiFi). A noticeable improvement over the N5 in as I do not have to disable software features to obtain these results.
I'll be posting more results in the Battery Life thread over time but you can see my first shared results below (50% brightness, all software features enabled except Locations).

The poll is used to record your average SoT throughout multiple days. So let's say I got 4 hours on day and 2 hours the next then my average would be 3.
It looks like the average SOT is just under 4 hours but there is a surprisingly large variance. Most people are near the average but the results are more spread out than I would have guessed. I wonder why there is such a big difference in the battery life people experience.

After a week of me owning this phone, I average a little over 3 hours of SOT but I like running my phone screens at near full brightness. This screen gets much, much brighter than my M9 so I usually run the screen at like 80% brightness and adaptive brightness.
However, I recently discovered that SMS, MMS and calls still work when Wifi is enabled during airplane mode. So hopefully this has a positive effect on battery life when I'm home, at a friend's house, or at work (90% of my life).

Which points out the fact that the only measurement this poll will accurately show is how long most people look at their screens before they need to charge. It really can't be used to draw any realistic conclusions about 5X battery life. I answered 4-5h based on my experience over the last week, and this level of usage always required daily charging. But over the last 2 days, I made a point to try to reduce SOT and right now it's looking like I'll go nearly 3 days before I need a charge.
For me the phone will last alright when I don't touch it (with the exception of the occasional weak cell area) but as soon as I turn the screen on, the battery drops really fast. Ive been averaging about 2 hrs SOT which is disappointing because that's about the same as my n5.
After a week I'm averaging around two to three hours. Doze seems to not be working correctly. Oh well.
With N DP3, 5-6 hours should be the average on heavy usage and 7+ for light to medium

Ok,i think you don't use your phones!
All day open
4G,wifi,location saving battery,messenger,whatsup,viber,facebook,instagram,skype,tmbrl,gmail 3 accounts(about 20-30 mails per day),4 ebanking accounts use them very much.Also minimum 1 hour calls.
Games,
candy crash and subway surfers
I use gps too rarely.
210 apps installed to my phone as i see into titanium
stock rom,elemental x kernel,profile,until now i can't decide which is the best.
with extra heavy use i get 2 hours, usually 2:30-3:15 i have see also 4-5 but i didn't use my phone

Guys, please post your battery life screenshots. Mine is fine
Dont have screenies but my SOT is 3 and half hours . Pac rom Lp 5.1 Caf D802 .
There is already a thread about battery life where users posted their screens...anyway your screen in the first post is useless to determine battery life. Dont mean to be rude but it really is useless, because if you barely use the phone, you can reach 120h+ easily. You have to give more information. Even the screen on time is not accurate to determine battery life, because there are some users who use their phone like an e-reader and get massive amounts of screen time that are impossible to reproduce when using the phone on normal conditions. Not everyone uses the phone in the same conditions. A good way to determine it would be the screenshot like you gave, another one with the apps showing consumption, another one with screen time and a screenshot of cpu spy or any other cpu measuring app(because this will make it easy to spot how those e-readers get so much sot, usually their lowest cpu frequency is used a LOT, unlike normal users)
always 6-6.5 hours sot. can hold up to 3 days or more with light usage using Cloudyg2 2.2.
Fyi, cloudy g2 is not the reason you get 6h+ sot... unless you're significantly reducing performance and/or screen brightness. No rom can beat physics(and logic).
I average 5h sot over 2-3 days with wifi/data/sync/auto brightness on. Can easily go a week in standby if check it a few times a day. Running stock sprint lollipop with latest zvi update.
Well that's depressing....I have a battery life of maybe 4 hours with 1 to 1,5 hours of screen on time........I made a post here http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g2/help/battery-messed-t3297770.
If anybody has a suggestion I would be more than pleased. Been using the phone for +2 years. And looking at the screenshots of yours, I hadn't had that in a loooongloooong time
At full charge, plugging in earphone and listening to music or videos on youtube , i get like 3 and half and sometimes 4 hours depending on the rom. Screen is set to the lowest. I dont install much app, especially which connects to the internet silently in the backgroud. Disable location services and all too helps. At idle with wifi on and phone radio is 90% or more good signals, it lasts for about 3 or 2 and half days (depends on kernel too) . What rom you using @deereper ??Have you tried reducing google service battery drain via script and all ?
deereper, and anyone else getting under 3h sot, your battery is shot. I had similar battery performance until I replaced it. In my experience custom roms/kernels may make a very minor difference but have much worse performance and stability.
Yeah, I ordered a new battery.
I really don't want to but a new phone just for the battery.
And yes, with those battery stats it doesn't matter if you run stock or aosp
It's D802 btw, auto brightness 0%, wifi data gps always on. SOT 6-6.5hours only with continuous usage, if add in standby SOT average around 4.5-5 hours

Pretty much the same as with my Huawei P9, it lasts a day, maybe a day and a half. And on average the screen on time is about 4 hours... Wifi is on when I'm home, and mobile data is on when i'm out. Screen brightness always on auto.

About the same here. Battery life is decent, not great.
5-6 hours SoT here
I get an average of 4hours. Cpu is more power hungry than a snaodragon 835 with a 3000mah battery having the same usage pattern.
4 hours screen on time with 5% left on the end of a day
LTE always on, wi-fi always on, nfc always on
battery not great but phone should last to the end of a day. hope huawei is now adding better batteries than it did in nexus 6p where batteries were destroyed after a one year of usage.
Weird. I'm getting a regular 6 hours SOT. Turn off auto brightness, i watched a review saying it consumes a lot of power.

Yeah, I kind of expected better SOT, but I can get by with the around 4h I currently get. Wouldn't mind having 6h, though. I'll switch auto brightness OFF and see how that affects things.
Between 7-8 hours sot plus about 2 hours of music streaming over Bluetooth with screen off for me with over 2 days usage. One of the best phones I ever had. Bluetooth on and connected to Garmin. WiFi and data always on. Automatic screen brightness activated. Few settings adjustments in order to increase sot but nothing really aggressive. I'm on B120 C782 model.

Google play store turned off automatic updates. I just check every few days if updates are available. Turned off remotely find my device under Google settings/ security. This causing a lot off wakelocks. This is completely useless option. In the case of device being stolen, bypass frp lock and flash new software is so easy just now so I think it's really pointless to keep it on. Google chrome/ data saver on. ....and under developers options all animations, windows transitions are off. Theme changed for theme from mate 10 Porsche edition. IThat's it. The rest is completely stock. Facebook and messenger apps installed. .... I don't play any games if that's makes any difference.
I get just around 5 or 6 SOT. I was hoping for more. It was the first discharge from 100%. Do you guys think is gonna improve or should I give it a factory reset?
By the way. I managed to get up to 47C cpu temp while playing games
5hrs SOT on avg. have had it for less than a week so going to monitor some more before I conclude on its efficiency.
Can anyone Pls report about screen on time? The device got updates, is it possible to get an average time of about 5-6 hours? Some reviews says the battery is bad, some say the battery is excellence...
Thanks and regards
Nobody any experience about average screen one time?
3-6h SOT on stock b164, rooted, depending on usage.
I get about 4 hours sot. Was hoping for more...im a little bit disappointed. Should I do a factory reset after updating to newest firmware 164? I'm not sure if since updating to 164 battery life has been getting more worse.

So 3rd day and these are my stats.
30% Wifi 70% LTE
Location when needed bluetooth off. AOD on pickup and new notifications only.
I am pretty consistently getting to 20% battery with 4 hours of screen time regardless of my usage. I'm mostly on wifi, probably 90% of the time.
I'm surprisingly getting an hour less than my pixel 2. It's around 5 hours.

The Pixel 3 has a 13% larger screen and 13% more pixels than the Pixel 2 with only an 8% bigger battery. Getting less battery life isn't a surprise at all.
What is a surprise is your claim that the Pixel 2 got 6 hours. With a 5" 1080p screen and only a 2700mAh battery I have a hard time believing anything more than about 4.5 hours.
Mix of Wi-Fi and walking around on LTE for a few hours outside
Its kinda bad. My brother cant get over 5 hours sot and the standby drain is really high. If he keeps it idle it drains alot.
I've had my Pixel 3 XL for roughly 7 days now and SOT have been consistent around 4:30 - 5:15 hrs going from 95 - 20 percent discharges before I recharge.
Not bad, but I have to admit that I was expecting something better like easily reaching 6+ hrs for normal usage.
My last hope is that boy "Adaptive Battery" if it would help after couple of weeks at learning curve.

Try turning off the Always ON display. It drains the battery a lot. Initially i was getting 5 hrs max on wifi. Now its a little stable and i am able to clock around 8hrs SOT with average use. On LTE, it will drop drastically to 5hrs maybe.

I've have pretty bad result being pretty much 95% on wifi with low app usage
I'm seeing mixed results with SoT on two separate Pixel 3s. On my SO's Pixel 3 its getting 8 hours while mine is only getting closer to 3-4 hrs and she is a heavier user than me usually. Seems to me that the information the adaptive battery has on usage matter a great deal on your battery life. I opted to start fresh on my Pixel 3 while she opted to transfer from an older Pixel.
Getting consistent 6-7 hours of SoT without ambient display, half WiFi, half data and some Bluetooth usage. Using amoled black or dark mode with many apps and an amoled themed wallpaper. This is at 90% brightness. Quite impressed.
getting 5/6h SOT
Screen brightness at about 75%, and nightmode at the end of the day.
Mix of WIFI/ LTE during day and Bluetooth in the car obviously.
So far impressed since the size of the battery is small compared to other devices.
My HTC u11+ was getting about 6h SOT with a much much larger battery capacity.
I'll be the first to admit I dont have much running in the background right now, but I'm still pleased. In case the links don't work -- 6 h 30 m screen on time. Phone charged 20 hours ago. (I'm not usually that heavy of a user, just wanted to see how it would fare in the real world. ) Mix of WiFi, LTE, bluetooth on about half the time.
How?
Use battery saving mode on time. I'm getting similar results. I accidently plugged in the charger at the last bit (thought I took the screenshot but I didn't) but you can see it only charged about 2%.
1 Hour of Screen on Time???
I just received my Pixel 3 3 days ago, and the battery is awful. 1 hour of Screen on time? Is this normal?
I was barely using any apps.

You're using ambient display, turn it off for a day which should resolve all your issues. Yes it means you'll have to wake up the phone in order to see whatever messages you may or may not have received. But it'll extend the battery time.

If you opted to start from scratch when you set up your Pixel 3 and did not transfer the data from a device that already has the adaptive battery feature getting about 1 hour of SoT seems to be normal based on my experience. I haven't been able to confirm this, but based on my experience the adaptive battery feature seems to use machine learning. It learns what apps you use over time and how often you use them. The more data it has, the better the battery life you will get. It took about 3 weeks for my battery to settle down. Currently, my battery is estimated to last about 17 hours from a full charge. My suspicion is that the Pixel 3 start out running everything you install and slowly learns how aggressive it should limit the battery usage of an app. Aside from leaving it on battery saver, I would also recommend not charging it overnight a couple of days and letting it sit there. That seems to have helped me with the battery life and my device knowing to limit apps I don't use frequently.

Previous day's I'm kinda disappointed with the battery life/SOT since I just get an average of 4-5 hrs. This time however, I can hit 6-7 hours. IDK what happened perhaps my charging habit? Or my habit of playing/using my note 9 while charging? Also I charge my phone overnight and I must say those did not hurt my battery but improved it. 2 hours SOT and I only lost 20%

Latest SOT (one UI beta)
I get around 16 Hours screen on time. My display is set to a Screen resolution of FHD+(2220x1080). I have a black theme and amoled black wallpaper. I game a lot (rise of the kings) and stream from Spotify regularly. My game performance setting is set to balanced and I went to... Settings>Device maintenance>battery and added apps that need to run in the Unmonitored catagory. Email Facebook Skype and so on. The rest I put into the always sleeping catagory. I have the snapdragon Canadian variant SM-N960W. Had it 5 months now and on a non gaming day I can push 20 hours. I don't watch videos tho, got a TV for that. I also disabled any unneeded apps and removed all bloatware. Hope I've given you some ideas.
Cheers!

I'm a bit disappointed with the SoT figures I'm getting. I would've expected 5 hours a day with at least 25% battery life left. However I'm roughly getting 4 hours by the time the phone hits Stamina mode.

I usually get 6.5 to 8 hours SOT on my Xperia 1 II. So you should be definitely be getting more than that
This is very strange. I am getting 8-9 hours of screen on time within 1-2 day usage. Try to disable everything you don't use (all the Google data collection and other ****) and see if it helps.

Same.
My Poco F1 with LCD and bigger screen has a better screen on time.
Something is fishy here, I'm using DarkMode and a low background light.
Which Software you guys are using? Mine firmware is: 58.0.A.10.21
I think it has todo with the Vodafone branded software.
58.0.A.12.23
So it is not an old Firmware issues. There must be something hardware related issues.
Does your phone also get warm while using it?
When I browse through Google News (WiFi) it gets noticeable warm.
I am happy with my battery life - fully loaded 2 days ago, now at 28% after 6h30m Screen on time.
Mine get 7.5 hours. Pretty satisfy with this phone.
I'm getting about 6 hours sot from 90% to about 19%. Not as good as I expected.
Edit: above usage with 120hz setting. For mine, the SOT fluctuates. On one of the days, the SOT was only 4hrs. Trying to find out what's taking up the usage.
It would be helpful if you write if you use 60 or 120 hz.

thats crazy screen time, how does your google play services say only used for 25mins?? for me today google play services has been used for 7hrs25mins so far and its only mid afternoon i have no idea why its always on...even though google play services only uses up around 4% battery each day for me it always says used for around 10hrs each day, any tips on how i can get mine down to a respectable 25mins like yours?
Sony phones has some miraclemagic in their batteries, very good results indeed. I tested last two cycles, first with 120hz and another one with 60hz.
120hz: 100-1%, 9h 30min SOT during 41h time period.
60hz: 100-1%< 11h 36min SOT during 48h time period.
Mostly on wifi at home, lot of videos, social media and web surfing.
Power consumption at idle state is the best. I have had 4 mornings in a row with the same battery percent that was last night. 0% consumption during night. Gotta love it.
Very good battery life, with 120Hz enabled.
Do you guys actually use the "Battery saving mode" function? You know that charging the battery to 100% and discharging to 1% slowly kills the battery lifespan? That's why Sony developed this technology, so why not use it? I have set mine to 80% and charge my phone every day so my battery never goes over 80% or below 20%...
