Does anyone know a solution to the Nexus switch off the magnetic sensor?
I have in the car a magnetic holder or 2 to hold the tablet, but the problem is that is a holder exactly where the is magnetic sensor of Nexus and it therefore puts in sleep mode and can no longer be unlock long as the magnet is there ....

Hey there,
I got one of those "smart" cases which send my Nexus 10 to sleep and wake it up once i close/open the front cover.
However i wondered how this really works, is there a sensor within the Nexus 10?
Also , i lately put my Nexus 10 the wrong way round(with the screen still facing me but the lower bottom, where the pogo connector is being up and the camera being down) in the case and closed the front. As expected the Screen didnt shut nor did it wake up when i opened it.
So i guess there is no sensor on that side of the tablet? Is it possible then to harm the hardware inside by the magnet withing the case. I mean when i put it in the wrong way round.
Thanks in advance for your help!

LOL. There is no wrong way! OK. There is. Don't drop it on a hard surface.
There are magnets in your case that trigger the wake up/down of your N10.
the magnetic sensor is right about the left side of the ambient light sensor... try running a fridge magnet there and see the screen go off and on when the magnet is away...
Hi!
Does anybody know if there's a magnetic sensor built in in order to provide a wake up/sleep functionality? If so, where is its position?
Thank you in advance
Light sensor near the top of the screen, that's all I know about....
Thanks. Thought, there could be a magnetic one also.

Actually , All note 4 series has an build in magnetic sensor , but i am note sure just excatly where is it located or what is actually doing it , but i am sure that it does not related the usage of covers because even on my old phone (galaxy note 2) had it and i could not succseed to make it work with lots of magnetic covers , you can check and test yours magnetic sensor by installing a small program that i think the name was "android sensor box" , which is on google play and it does not require a root access , and after running it , may be you can find just excactly where it is , by moving your phone next to the metals (not magnet, i think home keys are just enough ) and by reading the values on sensor box , you can just evaluate , that excactly where it is
yes it has a Yamaha YAS532 magnetic sensor in the exynos versions. Located on the circuit board and is 1.5mm by 1.5mm in size.
And it works great with google cardboard's magnet [emoji6]
I have two magnetic mounts and a metal plate stuck on the back of a third party case. The one in the car does not appear to cause any issues but then I don't generally touch it while on the mount. I have a cheap magnetic mount next to my computer monitor I rest it on during charging. Sometimes the buttons becomes unresponsive although I can scroll etc (I am using Nova Launcher BTW). If I lift the phone off the mount the buttons work again and if I put it back on the mount the buttons continue to work. It seems fairly random. I thought magnets should not interfere too much with smartphones other than perhaps the compass.
It's a bit baffling.
EDIT: After further experimentation it would appear the X Force/Turbo 2 is susceptible strong magnetic fields. If the phone is placed too close to a strong magnet in a certain position then the bottom half of the display becomes unresponsive. I can reproduce it every time. If I place it slightly off center on the phone the magnet does not affect it. Has anyone else experienced this issue using a magnetic car holder?
EDIT 2: I seem to have made a workaround. It seems the plate that comes with my more expensive magnetic phone holder in the car is a bit more affected by the cheaper holder I am now using indoors. I put the plate for the cheaper model in between temporarily and the problem almost went away. So I have put that inside the phone cover as a barrier and now don't get the issue as much. There seems to be some variance in the magnetic properties on each of the holders/plates which does or does not affect the phone.
Very peculiar.
The phone uses magnetic force to function with the use of Motorola's flip cover case. I have one, what you describe is almost like what happens when the cover is closed.
I had a magnetic mount that was too strong cause the motion sensor to "stick" on a different phone. Once I figured out what was causing the problem (because it wasn't obvious to me right away on that phone), I returned the magnetic mount / case and got a refund. On my other phone, I'd have to remove the magnetic case AND reboot the phone for the motion sensor to start working again. It took me quite a while to figure it out, but now I'll stay away from magnetic mounts as much as I wish they would work. It's not worth the damage it can cause to a couple sensitive components in these phones.
Hi, I bought this case in Amazon: https://www.amazon.es/dp/B074FYVG6H/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_kt5rAbBQAC0JH
It is magnetic but when I open and close the tap the screen doesn't turn on and off. Please, any idea?
Hey guys,
I recently bought a 2019 galaxy tab A 8.0" with S-Pen.
It's working amazing, especially with the S-Pen.
But I have a little question, does the tablet have a magnetic sleep sensor to use smart flip cover to put the device in sleep mode?
I bought a cover that was supposed to have it. The cover itself is nice, but it doesn't trigger it the screen on/off at all.
So I'm wondering if the device even has the sensor, since I can't find any option anywhere either.
After some info I just found, this function should work with proximity sensor?
I checked, the tab does have a proximity sensor in the top, but I can't find the option anywhere.
And putting my finger on the proximity sensor doesn't seem to do anything.
Edit: seems like the tablet doesn't have proximity sensor, but only light sensor...
So impossible to get a sleep/wake up cover.
That's lame.
